Great quality food but subpar hospitality. Here's the quick summary. We have come to this place as regulars for several years. My wife loves a particular plate which draws us back. So quality of the food is generally really good. This is the pro. Negatives are: - sometimes pretty rude staff - getting a coffee refill takes quite a while - prices extremely highly vs others around town Today, waited nearly an hour after being seated for breakfast to come out. Note: we showed up at the open. Others that seated after us received food before us. We had to leave for an appointment and told them 20 minutes before we had to leave. Food still didn't come, was stuck with a bill, and no apology. If you only care about high quality food, this is a good spot and nice location. If you care about service with a smile, you may not be that happy. I've run out of forgiving subpar service. Today was our last visit. read more

I stopped in here for a late breakfast during my travels based on other YELP reviews. My initial greeting was friendly enough and I got a seat fairly fast but the service and food was just not what I was hoping or expecting. The bar seats look really nice but they are the most uncomfortable seats I have ever had to sit in ( and I had to sit in them for A LONG time ). The bar seats do not move so if you are vertically challenged like me you literally have to sit/stand to fit and reach the bar. It took quite a long time for anyone to bring me a menu and even longer for someone to take my order. The food took about 45 minutes to arrive so all in all my eating experience took 2 hours in which I did not receive a coffee refill which I tried asking for. This restaurant had quite a long wait on the Sunny Saturday (yesterday). My sister put our name in for an outside table. We probably waited around 25 minutes. It did seem that they may not have had enough servers to meet the needs of those dining. My mother enjoyed her blt on sourdough. The fries were crisp. The chicken, kale, quinoa soup was a perfect start to a cool day.Their chicken sammie comes on a fresh bun loaded with marinated cranberry goat cheese. You chicken sandwich lovers will love this. What can I say about this place... well, it's awful. The prices? My word! Who is their usual clientele, sheiks? After dealing with the owner? Manager? Whatever she was her name was Elisabeth and she was a dreadfully nasty woman. The food was so-so (not worth the ridiculous price) but I was really put off by the energy of the staff. It all made sense once I was introduced to Elisabeth. She was very rude and her surliness and unwillingness to listen to our concerns even made my daughter cry. We love our trips to the cape, we love going to breakfast. Looks like we will be sticking with the pancake man after this endeavor! read more

Great sandwiches. The pickle selection isn't what you'd imagine. Instead of a variety of pickled cucumbers. It's just a different variety of different vegetables. Adorable local breakfast spot with something for everyone. There are great healthy options (Marathon scramble with egg whites and veg, or the garden hash), delicious pancakes, and cocktails. I thought the garden hash could use a little more flavor, but I was grateful for the amount of veg at breakfast, and hot sauce was a great remedy. The blueberry pancake was DELICIOUS, so buttery and a great sharing option. My friends all got bloody Mary's, they thought they were slightly watery, but liked the opportunity to try all of The Pickle Jar's pickled veg. We had a perfect table in the window to watch all the marathon finishers! It was pouring rain, so no outdoor seating that day, but we saw tons of tables outdoors the day before in the sun. Looking for breakfast after an early ferry into Woods Hole when I found this jewel. 4+ rating and more than 50 reviews rarely steers me wrong We sat in the front bow window which was by itself very cool. We arrived before 8 and appeared to beat the Saturday AM rush which arrived after we began to eat. Coffee strong and dark roasted just like I love it. What an eclectic and cool menu. My partner and I both had a Linguica scramble. Linguica, we were told, is a Portuguese sausage that was spicy and delicious. Im not sure what was added (or if anything was) but the eggs were fabulously creamy; like duck eggs. A large flavorful portion. Then as the name implies, we got a pound of "Kirby sour" pickles. So fab that we stopped to get a leak proof container so that we could carry them home on the plane with us later. No wonder this place has landed on many Cape "top 10" lists. A MUST stop! read more

We ordered pick up and it was really delicious. I was craving an egg salad sandwich so I was pleasantly surprised to see it on the menu. Just a heads up that it's more of their take on an egg salad sandwich and not a traditional egg salad sandwich. It tasted delicious but wasn't what I was looking for. Had a friend try the sandwich with the cranberry goat cheese and a friend try the salad with the cranberry goat cheese and both were RAVING about their choices. Went to lunch here today . It wasn't my best experience . It was more about the atmosphere than the food . My friend and I were seated toward the back of the restaurant . Matter of fact the last table in the room . Unfortunately right after we ordered the restaurant go a delivery . Yup , you guessed it the back door was right near us . The delivered took 15 minutes or so . The back door was open the entire time despite my asking the waiter to shut the door . He said when they were finished they would . We live on Cape Cod and it is April ! About 52 degrees outside . Need I say more . It is 4 pm and I am still cold . Back to the food . I got the greek salad . It was a little over dressed with vinergery dressing . My friend got the Road Race roll which she liked . But dinning is about the entire experience not just eating food . Delicious, the homemade pickle plate was a real treat, although redundant to some of the pickles used in each of our entrees and a bit much for all but the most die hard pickle lovers (or to take home) I love the way everything revolves around their love of pickling. The location can get very congested in tourist season unfortunately, but the homey cozy interior is a great foil to the commercial hubbub on the Main Street. The sandwiches were overloaded with greens and extremely short on the highlighted protein, which was poorly prepared I would add. The potato fries were thin strips of potato, which were overcooked. Lastly they state that they are offering a cash discount over credit card, when in fact it is clearly an over charge for use of a credit card of 2.5%. I had to try the Pickle Jar when I was in town. I called to pick up breakfast to go and a friendly lady picked up. Their menu online did not reflect everything they have. I saw on google photos that they have egg scrambles but I did not see that on their menu online so I asked and they do have it! I ordered an egg scramble with veggies with a side salad. This Falmouth Main St. restaurant is awesome. I love that it is just all about great food and quality. On the Cape, there are a ton of tourist trap type spots. We were visiting this place on the off season so it is difficult to say how a busy summer weekend day would be but the food was topnotch. This place was on our radar because of the fried pickle chips and the loaded house fry with bacon, pulled-pork and smoked cheddar. If we had stopped at the appetizers, it might have been better for everyone but we got a to-go box and we were ready for some sandwiches. In Falmouth, there is a famous lighthouse called the Nobska Lighthouse. In homage to this local landmark, there is "the Nobska Light"sandwich which had pastrami cured salmon. I am a big fan of pastrami and salmon but I have never heard these two words placed together. I had to try it and the waitress told us that it was sushi grade salmon which was true to the taste of the salmon. I can not deny that I was hard to eat this sandwich but it was so tasty. The interior of the restaurant which must get a lot of to-go business year round is very functional. We sat in the window booths near the entrance. Definitely, we will want to make a return trip to this spot. The only downside of summer season at this place and all the restaurants is that it is a mad house after memorial day so let's all cherish these quiet times in off-season.
