The food, service and ambiance is great! My husband and I split the baked oysters, which were delicious and served with their wonderful Bread for dipping. I had a delicious cocktail and followed the oysters with a yummy goat cheese salad served with roasted pistachios. My husband had the croque monsior which not only was delicious, it was huge and served with a leafy greens salad. It was a wonderful experience followed by going to the in house bakery to take home bread and dessert for a dinner party. Can't wait to go back!! read more

I tried Pain D'Avignon because I was looking for something different and I haven't been to a patisserie for years. The interior is pretty basic, small tables and small chairs, so a person of substance such as myself didn't find the seating comfortable. I tried: - French onion soup: this should have been an easy win. I found the Gruyere cheese to be overly thick, and the broth to be heavy handed on the wine. - Steak tartare: this was a good dish. The beef was thin cut, smooth, and the egg was cooked just right so the yolk added richness that then got offset by the capers. Due to the richness, you may actually find that this could be all you need for a meal, despite it looking small. - Croque Madame: le sigh, what a failure this sandwich was. Over easy egg? Not today, over medium, so not much runny yolk but a thicker one. This is a gigantic salt bomb, in addition. They serve your water in tiny glasses and every bite led to downing an entire glass of water. It's good they were on top of refilling the glasses, but even then I finished a quarter of this before I couldn't take it any more. I did saunter over to the counter where they have a lot of good looking pastries, so we'll see if the ones I bought end up redeeming this place. As it stands, I can't recommend this establishment unless you'd like to try the tartare. read more

We had one of the most incredible experiences at Pain Avignon recently. The food was 5 star plus. I am comparing this to the many restaurants I have eaten at around the USA. The chef and his team should get a Michelin star for such a well prepared, incredibly tasteful meal that was presented by an extremely attentive wait staff ( thank you Kareem). I always thought about trying this place. A friend was there recently. So this morning I was nearby and decided to go for it. I just went to the bakery and got a coffee which was excellent and some pastries. The cinnamon roll was very tasty, the style of its made is firmer, I like it more soft. I have not tried the chocolate croissant yet, I am saving that for my daughter. But the inside was very nice and would like to go in for a sit down meal soon. read more

STOP THE PRESSES! "Fine-ish" dining casual French that will blow you away. Cramped parking/space, plan in advance or reserve. I normally go to their "counter shopping" to pick up my favorite (expensive at $14 a sandwich) LOADED croissant with cream cheese and smoked salmon (WORTH IT), or grab their decadent cranberry nut foccaccia or their cranberry pecan sourdough, or a baguette or a... We were so excited to eat here for brunch and were sure to make reservations well in advance. It is located off the main street on a side street in Hyannis with limited specified parking. Lovely interior and so busy on a Sunday. There is also a bakery connected to the restaurant and bar. It has a relaxed vibe but can get a little loud. We decided on the traditional eggs Benedict and the Oeufs Pochés, Poached farm eggs over seared crispy polenta cake, housemade spicy chorizo with tomato compote & Hollandaise sauce. We both loved the lightness and creaminess of the Hollandaise. The polenta was crispy outside and a perfect substitute for the typical English muffin. However, the spicy chorizo was not at all tasty. It was not too spicy; it was not all all appettizing. The home fries that accompanied the eggs Benedict were nothing to write home about. Service was fine. The food for all seemed to take longer than one might have expected to come out, but it was very busy. The bakery was bustling and we got a sourdough and a country sourdough to take home. Both were great, especially toasted. The restrooms and whole place was clean. A real "go to" when we get to the Cape. We have been coming here for 20 yrs Although it is not the cozy place it used to be and you dont see the owners, it still is nice. If I could give 10 stars ... The beautiful space, amazing food and service merit the highest rating! We came here for breakfast early on Sunday and were disappointed to find the restaurant opens later on Sundays. The bakery side is open however so we had a coffee and apple turnover which were excellent and vowed to return the next day. We did come back for the full breakfast and I am so glad we did! The Galette Complete was unequivocally one of the best meals I have ever had. Light fluffy eggs, paper thin crepes, tons of spinach and just the right amount of crispy prosciutto - baked in a skillet floating in plenty of butter. Perfection! My date had Petite Oeufs Classique and also enjoyed it. The potatoes are perfectly cooked and seasoned. Their coffee is very good as well. I wish I had come here for dinner also, the menu and wine cellar are impressive! Heading to the bakery section now to grab some pastries and freshly baked bread to take on the road. I'm just sad that it isn't closer to my home north of Boston but I will drive the 2.5 hours just to have this again someday!!! read more

My Favorite Restaurant with the worst food I have recently gotten! I purchased a small pizza to go from the bakery Sunday morning( plus other delicious items) Got home to New Jersey to share with my wife, THE BUTTOM OF THE PIZZA WAS BURNT TO A CRISP ! The service was amazing. Friendly, offered suggestions, very pleasant. The ambiance was very cafe-like. We sat at a hightop by the window eating our fresh crusty bread with delicious salted butter. We could have been anywhere in France. It was like being transported away. And the food!! My friend and i split the steak tartare and then each had a salad. A hidden gem near Hyannis Airport. It's off the beaten path, and it offers a real French bistro experience. Great bread! They have a bakery next door that serves the region. The restaurant often gives bread samples to diners to take home. The service is OK--about what you'd expect from a Paris bistro. The food is very good. The oysters are very fresh, the entrees well presented, authentic and generously sized. They have inventive drink selections. Brunch is worth it! It had obviously been cooked some time previously because if you look at it you can see the dried, rubbery skin on the surface and the 'point' of the quiche was overbrowned. Toss in a seriously overdresses salad and you've got a sad luncheon. I have had good food here before, in fact, quite recently so I gave this one a 3 out of 5 for being 'hit or miss'. Wow! Another great experience at PDA!.. I think some negative reviews might stem from how crazy busy this place can get in peak tourist season. That said, their French onion soup is to die for. Best bread around. I even buy it back home at Whole Foods. Great drinks, nice vibe, great service. Had the steak for my entree and was blown away. I think the food here is on par with any top French spot in Boston Look forward to trying their pizza lab / bar next door too. read more

Great job with the baked goods overall! Will want to return for some of their other items if I can. Didn't get to have their dine -in items CRANBERRY WALNUT BREAD ** We took a loaf of this home and my family destroyed it in a week. Subtly sweet from the cranberries and the pecans were small enough that they didn't interfere with the structure but complemented with subtle texture change and nuttiness. CRANBERRY ORANGE COOKIE*** Fragrant tiny fruit pieces integrated into it with subtle orange zestiness that has a great crumbling texture, with a slight chew. Sweet, oaty, really liked this! OLIVE OIL CHOCOLATE BREAD The olive oil isn't super strong flavor-wise but is obvious in the cake as this is so delicately moist and enjoyable. Chocolate also veers on the side of semi-sweet and so you don't regret going for bite after bite. Fluffy, moist. CORTADO Good job with the coffee as well; Foamy, well steamed milk without any large bubbles. The coffee flavor itself is not bad either. BLUEBERRY SCONE A lot more bread like than I had anticipated and even with the blueberries in there I wasn't getting much by way of blueberry fragrance. Also, extra areas of moisture around the blueberries leading heterogenous areas of moisture. Overall, bread-like and a bit chewy with a soft subtle crumb around the very ridge. Without the hard almost crunch of an exterior you might expect from a scone SAVORY SCONE * Chive flavor is the highlight here with a nice west background without any funkiness. Harder crumb exterior for this scone while maintaining soft interior which was enjoyable. Would get again ! CANELES Strong on rum flavor; Gummy and chewy, hard to pierce with a a fork. Probably would pass on these unfortunately CROISSAINT - HAM AND CHEESE Crispy airy croissant with a savory cheese filling and a slice of I think Black Forest ham which is atypical for ham and cheese croissants yet enjoyable! read more

We went to brunch here on Easter Sunday and it was excellent! They were busy but we still felt attended to. The drink selection was lovely and they have a great bar area and a great wine list! The food was absolutely A+. Not to mention they have a bakery right there that you can get items to go if you want. The food came out quickly and was so delicious. They Croque Madame is my go to when I'm at brunch and this one didn't disappoint! I loved the Paris vibe in the restaurant. Hard to believe it's tucked away off the main road in Hyannis! Their coffee drinks are spectacular and I highly recommend their hot coco--thick and creamy. They have a sit-down restaurant available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
