The squash with brown sugar and sage was also delicious but the presentation was a bit lacking. The beer was good. So was the sea food soup with lots of fresh seafood ingredients. Fish and chips was good but the fries were a bit over cooked. Service was friendly and nice. Super attentive staff. The view was good. Location is excellent. Don't recommend order the rib eye if you are on a schedule...it took over an hour for us to get our rib eye, not sure why.....it literally was a piece of steak and we were told it would take 25 min but the time was doubled. Okay so visited Long Beach for the first time and this place was a must on the list. We were excited to visit for the views of the Pacific Ocean. Although it was a cloudy evening, it was still fun to lookout and see the water. This restaurant is located inside the Adrift Hotel so it was pretty busy on a Friday night. We had a wait time of about 40 minutes for a table of 2 but that was no problem we sat the bar and ordered drinks until our table was ready. The bar tender was very busy and it took a while to get our drinks. Finally our table was as ready and we sat for maybe 15 minutes before our waitress came. She was confused and asked if we were ordering food since she saw us at the bar earlier we told her yes we were just waiting for a table at the bar. She told us that no one let us know that we were seated and apologized. I had the cranberry margarita and my boyfriend had the old fashion, both were really good. We ordered fried oysters and the crab cake for our appetizer, both were great. Our main dishes however were not that great. I ordered the rock fish and chips, the fish was on the dry side and not seasoned and the fries weren't seasoned either like no flavor at all. Im vegan and have struggled to find options in this area, so extra appreciate the easy to read dietary markings on the menu here. We're staying at the Inn that shares the same property with Pickled Fish and it was super convenient to walk over late one evening for dinner. We arrived after sunset but still loved the vibe and the food. We felt prices were fair as well. I chose the vegan pizza (roasted mushrooms, roasted onion, garlic confit, and arugula) which was delish, and my fiancé who isn't vegan had the clam chowder, clams, and sourdough, all of which he loved as well. We went here because we were guests at the hotel. We were sat at a tiny tiny table that made us both face the window. We were disappointed as it was our anniversary and we'd liked to of faced each other. It may have been better if there was an ocean view, but it was dark outside, so we just stared at our disappointed reflection the entire dinner The prices seemed high (fancy restaurant high) so i was expecting really great quality food. My husband ordered the wagyu burger RARE and it was VERY well done. He took one bit and couldn't eat it. It was hard as a puck and so was the bun. I ordered the rock fish & chips. The fish was great but I couldn't stomach any of the fries. They just were not good. So really we paid an astronomical amount of money for dinner and only enjoyed 3 fish strips. Our waitress wasn't great. didn't check on us at all. took her 10 mins to greet us and get our drink order. Another 10 to bring us the drinks. Then she didn't even take our order. After another 10 mins she came back to take our order. So at this point we'd been there 30 minutes and still hadn't had our order taken. A couple who had came in 15 mins after us had already received their drinks and ordered/received appetizers by the time we got our food order taken! We were just about to leave when she finally came back. Got our food which it wasn't a unreasonable wait time for. Once we were done we had to flag her down for our check. It was a 10-minute wait for the check after we asked for it. She set it down then it was another 10 minutes for her to come back and grab our debit card to pay with..... they weren't even busy. The wait times were crazy especially cause when we looked for our waitress it looked like she was kind of wondering around not doing much. definitely wouldn't go back. later that night we wanted drinks and instead of going to the Pickled Fish bar we WALKED into town to avoid going there again. read more

it pains me to write this review. as a long time patron of pickled fish, our meal + dining experience last night was highly disappointing. my family and i have been coming here for years and seen many changes both to staff, menu + atmosphere. we hadn't been in a few months so we're excited for our visit last night. we had two entrees and one appetizer along with my favorite cranberry margarita. the margarita was divine as always. the hummus plate was ok -- not its typical wealth of goodness but still we enjoyed it. then our salmon and filet arrived. both were cooked to almost a crisp + the portion sizes were so incredibly small it was ridiculous. while i understand that costs are high, this was unacceptable. i am not immune to paying $45ish dollars for an entree when i know it is going to be perfect and sufficient, but this was not one of those times. the salmon was a 2" x 2" x 1" square that was so crunchy and overcooked i could barely eat it + my daughters med rare filet had barley any pink at center. the sides were barely anything on the plate + because the service was so slow, we just ate it. then we got our bill for what ended up being almost $180 with tip. if i was not a longtime customer, i would have made a bigger deal. i thought i would give it a day to think about it prior to writing this review, but i still can't stomach the experience. it's sad and unfortunate because this has been our favorite place to go out for a nice dinner on the peninsula and now, well, i'm not sure we can go back. total bummer. i think they also had a big staff turnover as no one we knew was there. not sure what's going on but would love the old pickled fish back. read more

Meh. Lots of available seating but was sat at a table right infront of their live band (who was awesome by the way), but could barely hear our own conversations so we asked to move to another table. Caught the girls rolling their eyes when they learned that we wanted different seating. Ordered clam chowders, but got corn chowders instead and yet charged for the clam chowders. After I told our server that we were served corn chowders, she replaced a charge for 1 corn chowder and still charged for another clam. ‍ whatevs...didn't wanna deal with any more crap at this point, just wanted to leave. We went here this past Monday evening because they were open later than other restaurants. What a mistake! The hostess let someone cut in line ahead of us and she failed to inform us of menu items that were unavailable. The bartender who was within easy distance did not step in to help her. The waitress was nice but young and pretty clueless. She also didn't tell us some menu items were unavailable until we attempted to order. We finally decided on crab cakes which turned out to be 1 and it was poorly prepared with no real flavor for $36. It took them 20 minutes to serve 2 glasses of wine. Whenever we are in the Washington coast, this is the place where we usually dine. They have great views of the ocean. The menu changed and it's definitely just as good as their last menu. on weekends, they have breakfast brunch. I had their French toast and it was delicious. We also had their hamburger and fries and the way they make their fries. It's absolutely yummy. It's crunchy on the outside. Could not stop eating it. If you are a big group, I recommend you make reservations because seating is a bit limited for large groups . read more

Amazing service, went above and beyond for every request. The food is a bit steep in price, but is better than your average restaurant in a hotel. I ordered beets, clam chowder, and sourdough for dinner ($30 after tax and tip). The beets were amazing, sourdough was delicious, but the chowder had a lot of potatoes and could have used more clams. It was also too thick, resembling alfredo sauce more than chowder. Breakfast was eggs Benedict with mushrooms instead of ham and the pork scramble ($43 after tax and tip). Food was good, but the eggs left something to be desired, and the English muffins were very soggy- wish they were toasted like the sourdough! Bread and jam was delicious. Good coffee. I thought this was a great little place. The first major plus was that it is a family friendly place that was open late. (The other places we tried were closed for the evening.) They even had live music. It is an inclusive restaurant presenting both the rainbow flag and the Black Lives Matter flag. The prices were reasonable for a touristy town. The pizza was mighty good. We needed to look up the ingredients because I was unfamiliar with the fancy names for cheese and sauce. The bread was DELICIOUS! I had a tasty cocktail and it was scrumptious as well. The service was quick and friendly. All in all a great place with an awesome view, great service and good food. read more

We did not see much on the menu that interested us as far as food or cocktails, so we opted for a few beers (selection could use a little work) and a cider. They do serve some pretty good sized shots. They have what seemed to be either a housemade or craft grenadine, which was a nice change from the norm. We came for the view, which is inspired, and we were delighted by everything else. --Dirty, Dirty Fries with generous pork belly--garlicky and lightened up with sliced peppers. The truffle ketchup was delightful as well. --Fred's Cauliflower was the first dish we ravaged. Smoky, charred and still slightly sweet: this is a great dish. My mouth is watering in recollection of it. If I lived in the area, I'd be back at least weekly for this. --Clam chowder was creamy and clam-abundant. Gotta have it. --we split the fresh green salad with roasted hazelnuts; again, outstanding Our stout beers completed a great meal and experience. Our service was attentive and mindful of Covid protocols. Call in advance to get a table, and know that while this is a hotel restaurant, it's a casual five star restaurant all by itself. Our experience was not as good as we thought it would be. Overall, ALL the dishes we ordered were UNDER seasoned...we had to add salt to everything we ordered EXCEPT the fries. The mac and cheese was horrible, it was wildly under seasoned and should have actually had cheese instead of a mornay sauce. The chowder was missing a lot of salt, and honestly the pricing of the dishes was too high. The burrata was overpriced for the portion, same with the pickled veggies. It was extremely loud and too bright, the shades didn't help with the sunlight. I don't know that we would eat here again. read more

Oh my goodness! I cannot believe I have not written a review. Last time we were in we enjoyed the truffled cheddar fondue with blue cheese scorcher bread, a salad, and pizza. The time before that I think was very similar and we also had a great experience. We have also stayed at the hotel and ordered the pizza and had it in the game room (FUN!), as well as order breakfast in the morning (vegetarian eggs benedict) to eat in our room. Every time we have been, it has been a very pleasant experience. It can be on the pricey side and so I want to mention that, but it isn't astronomical. It's a very laid-back environment. Everyone is in t-shirts and shorts and it's comfortable. The staff is always really kind and prompt and they do squeeze their own fresh juiced juice there. On top of all of that, the view is fantastic. It's definitely worth a stop, even for just a drink! We come back every year. read more

The ocean views can't be beat, the food came super fast and the clam chowder may be the best ever. I didn't really enjoy the Caesar salad and the rockfish fish and chips tasted a bit too... fishy...(and I typically love fish). Also, the chairs HURT if you are a women with hips and that hurts the ambience. Overall though, it's worth it and the location/view gives it a very special feeling. read more

I've had great dinners at the pickled fish, but lately the dirty fries and burgers have been inconsistent as f***. I've gotten dirty fries doused in garlic water and a whole clove buried in the fries ‍ burgers burned to a crisp and sides of fries that taste like week old fish oil. The bar to rail ratio is way off as well. The only redeeming quality about this place is Victoria the bartendress. Those sparkly eyes and glittery eyeshadow were the best service I've had in years! She could sell a fish seaweed. Victoria deserves a raise! 10/10 for Victoria, 3/100 for the pickle!! read more
