The only thing stopping Pickleman's from receiving five stars is the lack of topping options for their pizzas, other than that everything in this place is five star delicious! Their BLTC Sandwich is the ultimate drunk food. Their drivers are madmen who will deliver anywhere in Lawrence - I would say freaky fast, but unfortunately another businesses claimed that saying.... So will just say Pickleman's drivers are freakier and faster than any other drivers in town. ;) If Ryan is working, not only will you get a hot delicious meal delivered on time, but a million laughs at your door as he is easily the funniest guy that I have ever met in my life. Lastly, there pickles are what you'd expect coming from a place named Pickleman's. They don't come with every meal, so make sure to request one; you will not regret it. Overall for the quality service convenience and overall satisfaction rating, Pickleman's is 5stars, just please get a few more toppings for your pizza, like pineapples! My wife and I don't understand all the negativity surrounding this place. We both had read reviews and although it was middle of the road. We came in on a lunch date and my wife ordered the BLTC and Broccoli cheese soup. I asked the gentleman about suggestions and he said the Italian beef sandwich is a staff favorite due to the fact that it doesn't seem to get old as some other sandwiches do. I was asked if I wanted to add the giardinera peppers to my sandwich. I told them I had never had those before, so I was offered to try them and they tasted great! Took only 5 minutes to get our food and it looked great. Mine came with a beef au jus and so I took my first bite without the au jus and it tasted AMAZING! So I knew it was about to get even better...I dipped the sandwich into the au jus and WOW! It added a whole other dimension of flavor to the sandwich. This place is now my absolute favorite sandwich place in Lawrence. Please don't let others negative reviews effect your decision to try these places out. Amazing staff and amazing food! read more

My parents and I were looking for a quick bite to eat and we stopped here. As soon as we walked in nobody greeted us, there were 3 people working and only 1 table seated. They weren't busy. I work in the food industry so for me my experience starts when I walk through the doors. I was hopefully it would change but was still focusing on not us being greeted. This was our first time here too. As we are looking at the menu two employees were just staring at us making us feel like we had to hurry up and order. Still haven't been told anything I was expecting a how many I help you, how are you, any questions? but still nothing. My dad happen to put his arm on the chip counter while looking and the employee told him "sir can you remove your arm from there for safety issues" which we understood no problem. We understand all the COVID-19 new rules some are different so we are still learning since we never leave the house. It was just this was the first thing that was said to us. We got our food and it was really good. We all enjoyed our sandwiches that we got. As we are eating a man walks in and gets the biggest hello how are you from the employee and I was shocked. He asked the man how may he be helped and talked to him while we was ordering and I couldn't believe what I heard. We got NONE of that. I have no complaints with the Pickleman's in Lawrence. I have gotten sandwiches delivered & they are fantastic! Last week I ordered off the Pick 2 menu, and got half a salad & half a sandwich. Both were great, and the salad was big, to be just a "half"!! Fresh lettuce, just really a nice salad. I love the fact that they are open til 3 a.m. I find their food a reasonable price too. The fact that there is no minimum dollar amount is perfect for a single person like me. So I give them 5 stars for price, taste, convenience, and so far, every time I've ordered, the delivery guy has been friendly! I plan on ordering again soon! read more

Ordered a pizza w/o cheese (lactose intolerant). Pizza came and had cheese. Called to ask them for another. The person that picked up said that we probably messed up on the order. We checked again that we didn't because we were willing to pay for another if it was our fault. The receipt was pretty clear we were right. Even though Pickleman's is just your run of the mill, chain, sandwich shop, it's one of the things I miss most about Lawrence. Their hot sandwiches are delicious! I eat at picklemans about twice a week but today the Manager was being really rude to the guy he was training and asked "who taught you to wrap a sandwich?" really sarcastically after he wrapped it. Obviously not the manager because he was arguing with another employee about calling in sick for a good 5 minutes in front of the register while the trainee fended for himself by the toppings. It was very uncomfortable. Good sandwich though and it was wrapped totally fine. Pretty gross. I ordered a caesar salad and the dressing tasted so "off" that I couldn't finish it. My husband had a turkey sandwich which was passable, I suppose, but small and unappetizing. Have ordered pickelmans delivery at least twice a week for the last 3 months as it is one of the only quality eateries open when I get off work. It has repeatedly messed up my order, and sent me the wrong bag of chips time and time again because "we stopped ordering those chips", which is a piss poor excuse because, it's not my fault that your website says you have a certain type of chip that you don't have. Then when I call the store to finally complain about it and ask for some form of reparation, my simple answer I'm given is "no." Great customer service. I've worked in the service industry for the last 7 years, and have never treated a customer, let alone a repeat customer with such disrespect. First I am very particular when it comes to my pizzas and unfortunately, Pickleman's rates amongst the worst pizza I have had in my life. Seriously, I have had cheap frozen pizzas that I have liked more. The Italian seasoning sprinkled on top tasted like the really cheap blends you buy in the spice isle and it did not interact well with the sauce. The entire pizza was covered in cheese and sauce so I can't comment much on the taste of the crust by itself, but I am not into the whole thin and crispy business (the entire pizza was probably thinner than 2 stacked quarters). If my experience were only bad because of the food, I would give 3 stars. However, when I came to pick up my pizza (a minute after my scheduled time) the staff seemed taken aback and claimed I arrived early. Normally waiting an extra 5 minutes would not be too much of a problem for me, but the employees were discussing tatoos in such a manner I thought a little unprofessional even if I was the only customer at the time. Very unfulfilling the first time I tried it. I gave it another shot recently (against my better judgement) and was very dissatisfied by the customer service. I heard about them always forgetting your pickle on the side with sandwiches (ironic considering their name) which I experienced the 2 times I ordered with them. They also forgot my onions on my salad and when I ordered an extra roll they just tossed it in the plastic bag, no plastic wrap or even a napkin around it from touching anything and everything. When I called to ask about the multiple mistakes in my order I only mentioned the missing pickle before I was cut off by the female worker stating I never ordered it (I looked at my online order and I did) and she continued to talk down and argue with me. I eventually got so fed up that I said if she was going to argue just forget it. The manager apparently tried to call me back after but I didn't even bother returning his call. I haven't ordered from them since and don't ever plan to. It's understandable to mess up on an order once but multiple times and just HORRIBLE customer service will lose you business. My friends used to always order from them during finals week but after hearing about my experience and some having their own to share, we all are now Jimmy John supporters. read more
