Sorry Pickelman's. I rarely give a review this low. Relocating from Texas, so we don't have one of your franchises. A fellow Aksarben recommended your establishment. Since I am in temp housing, I thought I would take a quick trip over and try a pepperoni pizza. If sandwiches are your game (which I did not try), stay there. Pizza was prepared in a timely manner. Back to my hotel room in less than 2 minutes. Open box, and grab a few slices to put on my plate. All the ingredients slide off the slice into the box. Try again with the same result. I ended up with a ball of cheese and pepperoni. Had a bit of that brick and threw the rest in the trash. Sorry, won't be back. read more

Was in the area and had been wanting to try so I stopped in for lunch. It was right about noon and it wasn't too crowded. You order at the counter from the menu on the wall which made me feel a bit rushed with someone behind me waiting to order. I ordered my lunch to go, in fact I ordered 2 lunches so I would have something the next day. Since it was chilly outside I ordered the basil tomato soup and grilled cheese. The grilled cheese was very bland. Mozzarella and Provolone are the cheeses they put on it. An addition of cheddar would really add some flavor. The basil tomato soup was creamy and was very good. The soup comes with a hard roll...great idea, however the guy handling money at the cash register also handled my unwrapped bun before it was packed up. Really no desire to eat the bun at this point. Money is one of the dirtiest things...why did he handle unwrapped food? Perhaps he was new because he also forgot to give me change when I paid him ($2.92). Even after I corrected him and he opened the register back up to give me my change, it was still a bit short but didn't want to continue holding up the line for less than a dollar of change I was owed. The designated "packer" of the food also had no gloves on. While most sandwiches are wrapped, the buns are not so now 2 folks without gloves have handled the bun. They may want to rethink that process. Sorry but that is not right. I also ordered the turkey sandwich with provolone. The turkey tasted fresh and the bun nicely toasted. I also tried the cheddar broccoli soup which was good, but same story with the bun for that soup...didn't eat it. It is fresh food, just a bit more money than I like to typically spend on lunch. read more

Eager to try this new gourmet deli in my neighborhood, I ordered a couple sandwiches online to pick up after work on a Friday evening. I got the #11 Italian Club and my spousal unit opted for the #5 Turkey Bacon Club. The online ordering was a breeze and easily allowed for customization (ie: no mayo, extra onions, add avocado, etc.). You can also specify when you'd like to pick it up within 5 minute increments. My timing was perfect as they were just pulling the sandwiches from the toaster oven when I arrived. The staff were very friendly and the interior of the shop spacious and modern. The verdict : my sandwich was delicious and I would try it again. I've heard they are similar to Potbelly but since I've not been there I can't verify. They also serve pizza and chopped salads. I've been in a few times now and have been happy with the food and service at every visit. The food is prepared and served in record time and always tastes great. The price point is a little high ($11 average for a "Pick 2" cup of soup and 1/2 salad), but as long as the quality remains high I'm willing to pay it! read more

Great location. I went in right at lunch time and waited in line for about 5 min and chose the #2 Ham and Swiss. It was very good the bread was soft and ham was thick. This seems to be a little better than your run of the mill sandwich shop. read more

First time... food was good. The wait was obnoxiously long... took 5 minutes to order and 20 minutes waiting to pay. The poor gal at the register couldn't keep anything straight, she was all confused, and it held up the line. People were getting agitated. I felt sorry for her until I saw my quick stop was now making me late getting back to work. My toasted sandwich still tasted delicious, but it was now NOT nicely toasted. It was crunchy because it WAS toasted, but cold due to the length of time before I actually got to eat it. They're new, so I'm sure they'll work out these kinks. I gotta say - I started to give this one a 2 star - for the food and taste, that's all they would get from me. But I tend to be a little quick to take away a star based on customer service, I should be just as quick to give it when I feel that the service was good. I've had takeout now three times delivered to work from this location. I had pizza twice and a French dip sandwich. I recommend "The Hog" pizza which, ironically, has chicken. It also has pickled jalepeno peppers and the crust is thin and crispy. It was surprisingly good, so much that I ordered it myself the next time. I stopped here for a quick lunch with my friend. We were greeted immediately and placed our order. I was pleased to see they have toasted sandwiches. I really like that. I ordered the turkey and bacon on white with lettuce and mayo. I wasn't crazy about the chip flavors, but my friend said that she loves the dill flavored ones. I also like that they have Coke. I've been meaning to check this place out and finally did. Got the Buffalo Chicken sammich. The sammich itself was amazing. White Bread was good, chicken was awesome. Buffalo sauce was good. The downside? It's probably the smallest sammich I've ever purchased in my entire life.....That's why 3 stars. $9 for that and a fountain drink. I wish I would've taken a picture of the sammich before I ate it in literally about 6 bites. If they offered $1off coupons or something I would probably make this a regular stop. Being stuck on a college campus with gray, processed plops known as cafeteria food three times a day can create an insatiable desire for a meal away from school, even if it as simple as a sandwich or a pizza. I turned to Pickleman's Gourmet Café to satisfy my wants. What better than a sandwich shop that does both pizza and sandwiches? I was wrong. Pickleman's Gourmet café is anything but gourmet. The service from both the cashier and the sandwich maker was less than inviting. Both seemed uninterested and brainless, almost giving off a Beavis and Butthead type of energy. This was the exact opposite of how I was feeling being that it was only my third time off campus for food. I was excited to finally get away from the mountains of chicken flavored Ramen that waited for me in my dorm. I ordered the Pepperoni Pizza. The pizza had a thin layer of marinara sauce that tasted no better than off brand tomato paste. The crust was burnt so much so that the bread wouldn't even moisten in my mouth. The minutes wasted on chewing had no effect on the texture of the crust. I had never experienced such a sensation before. The cheese tasted old and to my disappointment the whole layer of cheese tore away from the pizza on the first bite. The pizza, sadly, was one of the worst pizzas I have ever had. I went back to the register to order a Turkey Bacon Club, hoping it would be better than the pizza. The club sandwich was mediocre at best. The key to a quality sandwich is the bread. Their attempt at a baguette style of bread was sad. No other words for it. Just sad. I'd prefer the ¢99-day old bread that Jimmy Johns sells. The bread didn't act as a taste barrier, separating all the flavors so I could individually pick them out and experience each one buy one. It simply scraped both the top and bottom of my pallet like fingers on a chalk board. The Turkey taste brought back slimy, lukewarm memories of the Lunchables my mom packed for me as a kid. The lettuce and tomato made up for some of the sandwich's weak points. Luckily for me, and Pickleman's, they sold the Deep River Jalapeño chips, which happen to be some of my favorite chips. They acted as a nice pallet cleanse. The so-called gourmet café was small and quiet. I did enjoy that they had several souvenirs from my University (perhaps a weak attempt of appeal to us students). Considering that I was the only person in the quaint restaurant, I should have asked for a refund. Instead, I decided to bottle my anger and express it on this review. Overall, I'd say that Pickleman's should be far from your top choice when it comes to sandwich choices in Omaha. read more

They have great vegetarian options. My favorite is the lentil chili. It's spicy and delicious. Their salads are always fresh and I love the variety. I'm not sure what to think of the staff. They're very efficient but not super friendly. But my food is always fast with no issues. read more

I waited 40 minutes at the restaurant for a pick up order That I placed 20 minutes ahead of time today for 3 sandwiches. The restaurant was empty and they did not look busy. But, I still waited. I wasn't even angry about that. It was fine I wasn't really in a rush. But, what really made me mad was coming home and opening the sandwiches to see that every sandwich was made wrong. They didn't rush to make the sandwiches, they took their time. So, I figured they would at least be made correctly. But they weren't at all. I was very disappointed. Here for big east baseball tournament and staying downtown. Tasty gourmet subs and a welcome departure from subway and jimmy john's. Staff was very friendly, attentive. It appears this sandwich shop morphs into pizzeria at night, so they have a little range on their fast food culinary skills. If you staying downtown for college World Series or other baseball event or arrive late on business famished, they will gladly deliver to your hotel, I am told. read more

Not a very friendly place, people that work there need customer service training. One order was made wrong, we had to wait for a new one to be made. I wanted a gluten-free salad, several small pieces of croutons were in the bottom of the bowl, obviously didn't know it was there until I got further into the salad.
