I used to come into this thrift store every Friday, before Covid began. Finally, after reopening for a few weeks today I decided to go back, and I overheard some employees talking about how some of their employees tested positive and are still continue to work. The employees that i heard speaking did not notice how loud they were as they spoke. As far as those employees who are infected they are selfish by not caring about others health. We all need to be responsible and take care. I do understand that many of us need to work but working under those conditions are unacceptable. As soon as I heard that I left the store. The thrift store should test their employees constantly to make sure both the employees and the customers are safe. I will NOT be returning here again. read more

Came here today and bought a dress, the female cashier charged me extra $1 for the belt, even it goes with the dress. The old man manager even told the cashier to charged me extra $1 for the belt even the belt goes with the dress, because he stated the tag doesn't specify it's a set. Common sense, the belt size and the color is the same size of the dress, so it's the customer faults if they don't write the tag correctly, they don't even want to give my $1 back all they they can say is "sorry". What a $ grabbing place, this place it's a ripped off , were all their items are donated to them. I have to make a big deal about it I know it's only a $1, but this place will not even give you a discount for a penny. I used to LOVE community thrift and honestly can still find some great stuff there because it is such a big place. The downside is that their prices have reached an outrageous high lately. Example...New items with tags still attached will be priced more by community than their original price. Also an old pair of (not so cute) Guess heels set at 49.00. Very wide variety of everything. Didn't have time to visit furniture store. But will on next visit! Clean, organized, and friendly staff. If your a collector of toys- action figures, stuffed characters, dolls. You should truly check it out. Pricier items are behind check out counter - I didn't notice until I paid for my items and they were closing. I collect Barbies and happily spent most of the 2hours visit giggling at my finds! A few I paid $1, these were unclothed but from the late 1980's. A true find for me! I also found Barbies unopen (boxed) for $3-$5. Also for dolls Vintage clothing -5 pieces for $1. A Calvin Klein navy pebble leather tote for $19. Tablets mules for $7. And 2 NIKE hoodies for my man at $5 each. Not sure when the 50% off day is but I heard a lady ask and was told Thursday's. Situated in a gutted Googie warehouse, this is a gem of a store. Certainly not in the best location. Wouldn't venture out here after closing. Next to a pool bar, a shady dance studio with security mirror windows, and an MMA joint. Next door to a seller of garden statuary, large rocks, and Astroturf, with prominently placed plaster of Paris copies of renaissance nudes on its tall fence, crumbling. Almost like the album cover of Magna Carta Holy Grail. Pentax K1000 for $10. Banged up and absolutely filthy, but still functional. Passed it up and when I returned the next week, it was gone. At the jewelry display case, I pushed my way through the throngs of sharp elbowed women sprawled over the glass counter, asked to see their vintage watches. All Timex, Wittnauer, Seiko 5. Nothing extraordinary. $40 to $80. I guess if you want quality vintage watches for less, EBay is your best bet. You still will have to fight sharp elbowed women, but you are separated by thousands of miles and a computer server- limited only by your own frugality, not someone else's Ebay search skills Perhaps a rough comparison would be the Valley Thrift Store in Azusa. Certainly similar level both in intensity and size. However, this has more kitchenware and really old electronics. Menswear scoured by mid-afternoon. Nothing of note. LPs- at two dollars, nothing extraordinary. Had one Sammy Davis Jr. record for $10? I used to like this thrift store when it was under "Community Thrift Store" before they changed to "VVA." Unfriendly workers! My family and I said hi when we walked in, and everyone just ignored us. Recently they also have raised their prices astronomically! It's hard to find a good deal anymore, because anything good will be WAY overpriced. Just a couple days ago I found a Rose Quartz rock home decor item that had a $0.99 sticker on it. When I went to pay for the item, the cashier refused to honor the price and said the item is $10 and the "real price" is written on the bottom and that the sticker was wrong. No apology, nothing! Instead she was looking at me as if I had put that $0.99 sticker on it! I told her I didn't want it anymore, and I can buy it brand new at Home Goods/TJMAXX for the same price! Not coming to support this thrift store anymore. They are really greedy for the items they get donated for free. Goodwill is WAY BETTER in terms of pricing and finding a stellar deal. Took 2 stars off because this set of bud vases didn't have a price so they refused to sell them to me. WTH? What thrift store does that?! Its a little smelly but that's OK, I mean its a thrift store. I like this place you can find some awesome finds. It's pretty organized and the staff is friendly. My only complaint is the pricing system can be frustrating. They don't honor prices marked just because it doesn't ring up correctly. I bought an item marked $8.99 it was a red tag and red tags were for sale 50% off. It didn't ring up correctly so the clerk told the manager who went in the back to adjust the price to $5.99 with no discount. I was really frustrated as I had bought several items that were almost identical and they were marked the same way. I don't care about the measly $1 it's just bad business. Also I feel the prices are a bit high. I donated my daughter's dress and saw it there for sale for $12.99. It's supposed to a community thrift store. People are there for a deal. I have been going to this thrift store since 2013. I started going when I took a job in Corona and lived off of Sunflower in Glendora. I loved this store and over the years have spent thousands of dollars. Recently, I bought 2 bikes: one for my boyfriend and one for myself totaling $150 (roughly). I still have the receipt which I will post. Today, I went with my boyfriend here to buy a power cord for a fish tank and a set of sheets. My boyfriend loves this store and rarely goes and when he does loves to spend hours looking at all the products. I was not buying anything but did pick out several things for my boyfriend. After 2-3 hours shopping the manager told me I had rto leave because no backpacks were allowed in the store. I looked around and many people had backpacks. My backpack contained my dog who I just rescued and she is a very quite dog. Nonetheless, I was told to leave the store. My boyfriend was still in the store and I asked the manager if I could go tell him I will be outside. She said no. I left. I sat on the grass and walked my dog. A woman came up to me and asked me if I needed anything. I assume she thought I was homeless. I said "No thank You. But that was very sweet" How humiliating. I went back in the store to see if my boyfriend was checking order. The security guard asked me for a handicapped card in order to have my dog in the store. I am not handicapped. Again, I brought my dog because I had just rescued her and we did not want to leave her at home. I asked the security guard if he could go tell my boyfriend to come out. The security guard said he would. I told him he is native Americana and has long grey hair. He went and after 15 minutes said there was no one in the store by that description. He then said if I did not leave the property he would call the police. I left. The security guard, i guess, than saw my boyfriend (who is very very distinguishable) and gave him problems as well while he was paying for his items. Again, over the years, I have spent well over $10,000 at this store and was planning to buy one of their couched tomorrow that I saw I liked. I have never been treated like this at this store but will never ever go back. We will never shop here again and tell everyone we know not to as well. DO NOT SHOP HERE. i WILL BE REPOSTING MY EXPERIENCE ON EVERY WEBSITE , AND CONTINUE, UNTIL I RECEIVE A PERSONAL APOLOGY. read more

This is the place to go. I have found so many great things here. I'd definitely go in expending to spend hours in there. There's so much you'll never look at all of it, and trust me I try. I've found vintage dresses in here, and amazing coats that would be hundreds of dollars elsewhere. This is one of my favorite places. Extremely rude staff i had walked into this store at 6 PM SHARP. On that day they were scheduled to be closing at 6:30 pm. I walked in literally no later than 6 pm and i had asked one of the cashiers for the time since i forgot my phone in my car. The hispanic lady behind the counter asked her manager and he gave her a look and put his hand to his neck motioning "tell her its too late to come in" MIND YOU THERES PEOPLE WALKING IN BEHIND ME. Why werent those people walking in behind me told anything??? i already had my daughter in the shopping cart i felt humiliated and so embarassed and i took her out and left i was too embarrassed to stick up for myself the staff here are so damn rude its sick. Everything was fine at first, but the service at the register was terrible. The lady was very standoffish and was conversing casually with another coworker while handling my things. She barely acknowledged me and was very clear in her body language and tone of voice that she did not want to be there. She charged me for more than I expected and when I questioned her, she argued that her calculations were correct even after I pointed out that the tags said differently. Then to make things better, after I walked out, heated from our argument, I went through my bag and noticed that she did not include two of my items. You can guess how annoyed she was with me when I returned. Horrible service- find a better place to thrift. Somewhere that won't try to cheat you out of your money or rough you up. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Coming from a thrift store junkie, that says a lot. Yes, there are good deals to be found - but you have to work laboriously for hours because everything is so disorganized. Then, half of the "treasures" you uncover are sharply overpriced or broken. Or both! I'm so glad that I gave everything a triple-check before deciding to buy. Community thrift wanted $20 for boots that, upon taking a closer look, had cracks running all the way around the soles! The soles would have fallen off after a couple of days with that type of sneaky damage. However, that's not why I would give this place zero stars. The customer service is the most atrocious I've ever seen. Most of the employees don't even know what's on sale that day and give you conflicting j formation. But compared to my cashier, they were saints and angels! God, my cashier! I wish she had a name tag or something but I don't know what her name was. She was absolutely rude and standoffish toward me while being completely nice and welcoming to other people who walk by. Perhaps because I'm a local? Because I'm pasty? I don't know. But she was a total jerkoff. And not only that, she tried to change prices at the counter! Like she was deliberately trying to milk as much money from my pockets as she could. She double-charged me right under my nose until I demanded that she change that. Multiple times, she insisted that a sale tag was, in fact, NOT on sale (although I KNEW it was!). After that, I made sure to double check my receipts and watch carefully as she rung things up. Even then, the receipts are so vague that it's hard to see whether she cheated me or not. After digging through mounds of half-decayed garbage only to argue with the awful cashier over my sought-after items and having multiple other employees be rude, this was an incredibly negative thrifting experience. read more

My mom purchased an oil painting here and the employees put a tag ON the painting itself so when we took the tag off, the paint peeled off. i understand that there is a no exchange/refund policy, but because it was their fault, we thought they would make an exception. NOPE!! my mom went in and was rudely told that it was her fault and that she should have taken the tag off herself BEFORE PURCHASE. who does that!! was given the name of the manager, who clearly does not care at all. her main point was that she was leaving for the day and gave me another number to call. she said to leave a voicemail and they would get back to me. the voicemail clearly states that they do not return calls at all and to go to a website. what a run around. do NOT buy anything here since it's super shady and they don't care at all about customer service. read more

CTS is Phenomenal-tastic ! The -BEST- THRIFT STORE in Southern California, and huge! All their stock is rotated by color-coded tags. You'd better buy what you see today, because it will be gone tomorrow - maybe even later today! You won't find that same dress or pair of jeans you saw last week because: A) The Prices are very reasonable B) The stock is constantly Rotated C) Changing daily, Items are ALWAYS on sale - based on color code. D) When an Item has NOT sold after it's expiration, it is recycled to other Thrift Stores. The Store is kept very neat - as much as possible, considering the clientel. When CTS opens every morning (Mon - Sat) it's clean, neat and in order. The Employees (and CTS provides jobs for MANY people!) are courteous, helpful and friendly. But if the Item is missing a price tag, it won't be sold - Unless you take it to the door of the back room and ask them to re-Price it for you. CTS recently expanded into an annex next door, where the furniture, appliances and large items are sold. Unfortunately, like Murphy's Law, "The Accumulation increases until all available Space is consumed." Now it's just as crowded with merchandise as before (a GOOD thing!) There is LOTs and LOTs of merchandise at CTS. "Regulars" frequent CTS in the early morning, sometimes several times a day, picking up those special bargains. Wednesdays are half-off Senior Day, so get there early to find a parking spot. The Seniors swarm in for the bargains. Otherwise, the parking lot is huge enough to take care of hundreds of Customers, front, east side and back. Although I never shop for clothing or shoes at thrift stores, CTS has a HUGE! supply, changing constantly. My favorite used to be Books, and CTS has a great collection; but when the book junkies started coming in with their cell phones to scan the Books by Bar Code (ISBN numbers) (Best used book store around) I quit looking because the book junkies have already gotten the great books. Besides, our Collection is saturated now. One time I found a Sub-Zero Apartment refrigerator for $7.49. All it needed was a thermostat (from the internet for about $8.50). It's still running great! I buy 1950-1960s Singer sewing machines for less than $20.00, take them home to clean up, populate with Singer Attachments, and test. Then I turn around and sell them on eBay for $350.00 plus. At CTS we bought some lovely Villeroy & Boch ACAPULCO - heavy enamel cookware (like Chantal) for next to nothing. It's so beautiful and fabulous for making Risotto or Pilaf. And many other great Kitchen Gadgets as well. Even if you never frequent Thrift Stores, remember to keep CTS in mind, after your Yard Sale is finished. Donation drop-offs are made thru the Viet-Nam Veterans. Be fore-warned - this is NOT a non-profit, like Goodwill or Salvation Army; but it's better quality merchandise than the others - NOT junk, just used stuff (Some new!). If you drop off your JUNK, it goes in the dumpsters outside - they won't even try to sell it! Bring CASH - it's all they take, and NO returns. Plan to spend at least one to two hours here. Don't even bother with those stinky thrift stores any more - just come to CTS ! HAPPY HUNTING ! read more

I don't shop here very often but every time I've come here there is a girl working one of the registers with the WORST attitude. I went with my mom today & she found a package of 2 small dish towels that she really liked. The original price on the package was $2 but the thrift store had marked them UP to $5?! We thought it might've been a mistake so we took them to the register with us & asked the girl (same rude one I mentioned above.) if that was the correct price. She scoffed & pointed to the tag & said "It says $4.95.." My mom said she was aware of what it said but the original price was cheaper which didn't make any sense.. & the girl just stared with the dirtiest look on her face. Needless to say we didn't purchase them but wow this girls attitude is terrible. -2 stars for her awful customer service. +3 stars for the big selection in the store. read more

The closest thrift store to my home . Upon first glance, it's huge and great but when you spend time there you see that somebody there is a greedy little crap. I have seen glass fish tanks for $23when they only cost $12 new at a fish store! This is sad for those that are low income and come here thinking they are getting a discounted rate. I have been thrifting for 10 years and have lived in 3 counties in California and I am always annoyed when I see men's button ups that are damn near in rags being priced for $7 just because it has polo on the tag. Long story short, the prices are too damn high and half the stuff will fall apart within the year. In my opinion a Dooney and Burke for $40 could sound like a deal but if it doesn't function as a purse what's the point? I absolutely love this place. It is packed with treasures. The prices are reasonable merchandise is clean and there is plenty of it. If you are looking for gently worn kids clothes this is the place. First, this is the most expensive thrift store I've ever been to! I am definitely a thrift store junky and I have my own store at the swap meet on the weekend so I am always going to thrift stores and looking for bargains. There are two kinds of thrift stores, ones that are run for charity and ones that are privately owned. You will always find better deals at a charity thrift store, This "community" thrift store is a privately owned, for profit thrift store and some of the used stuff they had priced at almost new retail prices. They also own the old Amvets thrift store in Azusa, now Valley Thrift Store and the old Amvets bargains are gone. They do have a wide selection of merchandise and they have alot of employees working, but you're gonna pay for that. I was very disappointed. Whenever I feel like thrift shopping I come here! I love going early morning because that is when you find the best things, because everyone is either having breakfast or in bed sleeping. The deals are great. For instance, I purchased a pair of jeans (worth 39.99), a Nordstrom flannel with tags (worth 42.00), a forever 21 leather vest (very cute), a throw over sweater, and a jean shirt (worth 30.00) and an old navy oversized sweater. Took my daughter here to get some clothes...she found 4 pairs of pants n a flannel...well there is no changing room to try on clothes I guess u can just change ou5 in the open if u want...well my daughter got pants in her size I'm like r u sure n she says yes these r all in my size...get home she puts them all on n none of them fit!!! This is a really good thrift store it has thousands of merchandise and high end clothing as well as low and mid end. The clothing is mostly used so you have to be very careful in inspecting for imperfections because there is no refunds and you can get better deals when you look for the 50% off tickets and they might have a25% off one too. Bring cash because they don't accept credit cards or debit cards. There is a ATM machine but it charges $2.50 per transaction and if your bank charges some bank fees charge an additional $2 so that $20 can come out to being $24.50. So at this thrift store cash is king. They probably own the ATM machine too and they charge tax. Unlike the Goodwills or Salvation Army. They know what is a high end label and they will upsell you for the thing they got for free used. So buy on sale days to save cash the better labels. read more

I love this store! They are similar to AmVets, but both have amazing stuff. They have such a huge variety of items to pick from. I lived in Glendora/Azusa for 2 years and just recently moved to Los Angeles. I haven't found a better thrift store than AmVets or Community Thrift Store. So when I really want to find a wide variety of stuff for great prices...then I go no where else than these places. You will not disappointed! =) read more
