Earlier this morning there was a lady working as cashier, I'm going to do my best to explain her appearance without being rude because I don't know her name, but she was a shorter, wider, I think Hispanic lady and I heard her change the price of a product! A person asked and she told them a higher price than what it actually was. So rude and very unprofessional. Smh. Not nice to screw people over who are already spending money! The young man working the other register was polite and nice though. This place has a pretty wide selection and good discount days but I just can't get over the fact that an employee would lie like that. read more

A little gem of a thrift shop, they have a lot of cute pieces and the staff are all so nice! I think they get clothes from certain brands donated so the store is split between a "boutique" side and a normal thrift side. It was definitely worth a visit, especially on 50% off weekends! I don't understand the negative reviews for this store on here! Jeez! The employees are always really friendly and welcoming, albeit keeping to themselves most of the time as they are often rather busy. I work in the entertainment industry- specifically, with costumes, so for both work and for my own leisure, I like to take the time to explore the various secondhand stores around the LA area. For the clothing options you get at URM, I would say that this place is definitely a hidden gem. One of the SGV's best kept secrets for sure. They've got all sorts of styles, from alternative - gothic - academia - "clean girl" - club wear - rave gear - etc, etc. I'm a person who prefers to shop secondhand, and recently, I've found that most of my wardrobe consists of pieces I got from URM. Neat! The union rescue mission also does quite a lot for the homeless population in Los Angeles county, as well as offering really great products, clothing AND knickknacks AND furniture all at reasonable prices. They also very often have sales of up to 50% off almost everything in store. I do recommend following them on Instagram, because they update their daily hours and post dates/times of specific sales. If they have a highly coveted piece of furniture or clothing available, they'll also post pictures on Instagram as well. All in all this is a great thrift store, especially if you're someone who likes a unique piece of clothing. The work they do for the community is also wonderful. This place used to be my go-to for cute and affordable outfits, but as of late this store has gone terribly downhill. A few of the cashiers don't know right from left and makeup their own absurd prices on items they seem "valuable". Today I spent about $150, but I had to REALLY dig and look to spend that much because so many items are crazily priced. I only shop here on weekends they have the half off sale. Because regular prices here? Forget about it, better off shopping retail for most items. Today I had a really negative encounter with one of the employees, rude lady with Pink hair. I was checking out two items and she interjects to tell the guy oh they're not half off, those aren't half off! Literally out of nowhere. I asked why? She gave some BS excuse as it's not a summer item blah blah. They were literally dresses.......... So I said ok forget about it I'm not spending $70 on two used dresses. I went back inside to talk to a manager and she just gave me the run around. I asked where the dresses were and she said they're on a go back rack on the floor. I asked where? She said idk, go look. LMAO, you mean to tell me you already put these items back in 3-4 minutes? Ok sis. She just didn't want to sell them to me, that was the vibe I got. So I went searching for the items and guess what? They were on the rack behind the counter the whole freaking time! She was so condescending & just a straight up liar. I thought to myself I shouldn't have to work this hard to SPEND my hard earned money here. So I left things as is and walked away. Moral of the story: shop with extreme caution. The employees really want to nickel and dime their customers and it's quite sad. I've spent hundreds if not thousands with this chain and I'm sad to say that this is the end of my time with them. Parking space available in the back . Articles without price tags , Will not be sold. They have a No tags , No Sale policy until the following day. Dressing room is available, so be sure to try your items . All sales a final . Has lots of selection dresses in size 4 , xs , small . Not much for size medium large individual like myself . Brand new Wedding dresses for $250 beautiful designs. Brand new shoes by Anne Klein for $1 what a steal . Some clothes were new with original tags on and others looked new / new with labels cut out. ( I wonder why ?) . Some items didn't have the size visible due to the removal of the labels. I didn't want to take a chance to purchased. Service here by the cashiers needs some improvement . They all were rude and short tempered. My daughter asked to pay a certain amount of money with cash and the rest on her credit card . He huffed at her and says " in a condescending tone " if you want ", I need ID ". My daughter's friend asked her cashier do they offer student discount? He gave her a response with "Nope! Proceed with caution!!! On multiple occasions I've seen this place cut tags off heavily discounted and cheap clothes and sell them for absurd prices. Last time I went was just after forever 21 had closed their stores and there was many items with tags cut off and priced almost at retail. These are only a few examples of widespread merchandise. I purchased some shoes after the cashier said they were authentic once the transaction was processed the manager admitted they were counterfeit goods. We asked since these were sold under false claims of authenticity if we could get a refund and then we were refused. She also mentioned their "designer" products are all counterfeit yet there is no disclaimer on this. When I mentioned I'd like a refund the manager came back saying "you're here before you should know the rules" yes they don't offer refunds however this was sold potentially illegally therefore the store policy shouldn't be above that. I'm expected to know the store's policy as a customer yet her employee should be let off easy because he didn't know any better. I've gotten a refund in the past when they've overcharged yet will refuse to process a refund on counterfeit goods. I hope to offer a warning to those who enjoy shopping here, they have good items sometimes on the general floor however some of the staff is severely lacking in professionalism, speed and empathy. We hope to get this resolved at some point, as loyal customers we want this to be an easy process for everyone and are quite understanding. They fail to enforce the 5 item policy in the line for the fitting room and allow people to take more than 30 minutes at a time, it's especially annoying when in past visits they enforce on YOU. Today's my birthday and my gf wanted to find a cute dress and we are on a tight schedule. I come here alot. its always a hit or miss and they're overpriced. No restroom and only one dressing room with a line that gets too long. Employees/Volunteers arent the friendliest but whatever. Nice thrift store.... BUTTTTT found a perfect dress for a party on a manaquin (easy on and off) the store refused to sell a 20 dollar dress because of it being on the manaquin. Even after asking to speak with manager she rolled her eyes when I asked for her, they gave me two separate names (Ashley Cinthia) . When I asked an employee why she said "Well this brand is expensive", but that's not thrift store pricing! The employees at the register have also been rude. I went to look for home decor items and I was floored by the prices. $25 for a ceramic plate. $40 for a pair of bookends. $60 for a vase--this is a thrift store not Home Goods. The clothes are even pricey. I quickly looked through a top/tee rack and everything was marked $10. This thrift store was once my favorite shop. But after a couple experiences I decided to turn my business elsewhere. Honestly, it doesn't make sense how much the pricing has increased. A majority if not all products are donated. At that point, i would just go shopping at the mall. Also, the customer service is completely lacking. There is no need for rude behavior, attitude, and treating people as if they are a bother. The selection of clothes can be great sure. A lot of items are from overstock like Princess Polly and other online shops at a discounted price. Lots of racks to choose from but again, keep in mind of the prices. I've been on the hunt for some pieces for my new place: sculptures, paintings, fixtures. I was on my way to a different thrift store when I came across URM thrift store and decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did! This place has ample parking and isn't nearly as crowded as Community thrift store. They have affordable second hand furniture (SUPER affordable) and plenty of art at cheap prices. I picked up a painting of some peaches that looked great in my kitchen. The price sticker said $6 but while checking out, the cashier only rang me up for $3! I was surprised. I guess it was on sale. Definitely check this place out if you're scoping out some art pieces for your home. There's a large selection. We'll be coming back soon for a dining table sideboards and dressers. read more

On the other hand, the loss prevention guy (white man) was really creepy and made me feel super uncomfortable. This place has tons of shoes in bags from Steve Madden at the moment for under $10. Lots of steals for smaller, petite individuals. I am looking through the racks and I see nothing for plus size whatsoever so it's a little disheartening that we can't even get represented from donations of other people. If you're looking for a cute bag or some shoes, definitely come check this place out because they have brand new items as well that are definitely way cheaper than anywhere you gonna get anywhere else. I just wish that they would include plus size or be more size inclusive because everything here is cater to smaller individuals just like everywhere else, you can't sit here and tell me that there aren't other plus size people who donate their clothing. I love coming here. They have a wide selection of clothes for men and women. The work they do for the organization and helping homeless families in here in our state of California. I applaud the staff for their professionalism handling rude and aggressive customers. Like today for example there was a large chubby lady and her friend talking about trying to get a refund for the pair of shoes. This lady cause a ruckus for now reason. It's sad that people are so miserable they try to ruin other people's day. I hope that lady finds peace. read more

As others have said, the pricing is way too high for a thrift store (esp in our area of covina lol). It also makes 0 sense. Ratty Forever 21 stuff is marked $9+. Identical tank styles of similar brands will be priced $5 apart. I didn't much like the clothing here. HOWEVER, it looks like they buy leftover wholesale, which all still has the tags on it. Some of this stuff was priced as low as 50 cents! Buttttt, I noticed the sizes of those bulk items were mostly XL+ and the brands reminded me of everything at Santee Alley. Today was 50% off shoes and I will say, they had some really interesting shoes! I also felt like shoes were priced more fairly than the clothes. CHECK OUT THE JIMMY CHOO FLATS!!!! Marked $80, but $40 today with the sale! So so sooooo sad they were size 11. Really decent shape. I got the emoji canvas shoes, brand new (little dusty, but whatevs, I washed them) for $2.50. Obvi will be used for things like national taco day, pizza day, etc. Hahahaha GEM FIND! I'm sure I'll be back sometime soon to see what other randomness I can find. :) read more

I went to the one in Whittier so I assume all the URM had the same policies; however, there is no yelp reviews yet for Whittier. I think it's a fun place to shop but I think the only downfall that they don't put the tags on so they don't come off. If you try it on and the tag comes off and you really loved the garment you are screwed if they can't find it. They don't have anyone trained to put it on again or have no system to do that so the customer doesn't waste their time. They fold it and tell the customer they can't buy it and to return the next day. Does the customer want to? No. It's also sad because URM is out some money that way too. Money they could have used for a person who could use it. Just change the policy. read more

I went to try on 5 different dresses in the fitting room today. Before entering, there was a store security guard in front of the fitting room door and asked how many I had with me. I said 5 and they let me in. Immediately, I was about to try on a second dress and they started knocking and yelling at me that my time was up and I need to get out. Now you only have 10-15 minutes to try clothes on which is crazy. Never was there a time limit before and I've seen countless of young women go in there for about an hour trying things on without getting any complaints from the store attendants. Everyone in that thrift store constantly has a bad attitude and acts ghetto. At this point, it's not even worth it to go in there because of the negative attitude of the employees and the prices being overpriced for USED clothes. I was super excited to go to this location because they post such amazing pieces on their social media! The positives: The weekend I came they had 50% off almost everything so their prices were very reasonable! They have so many trendy pieces that it is a great place to go find what's currently in style! Proceeds also go toward the cause of helping people experiencing homelessness! Their staff was also super friendly and they are very patient considering how packed their store was on the weekend! The negatives: If you don't go when there is a sale, their prices were close to retail prices for most of their pieces. They also rip the tag off of the clothing so you don't know what brand the pieces are. While I get that this takes away the identity of each item, I personally want to know if I am over paying for something that could just be from Forever 21. There was also only one fitting room open when I was there so there was a quite a line if you wanted to try on clothes and on top of that there was a long line to check out because of how crowded the place was. I go thrift shopping a lot and I was definitely disappointed with their selection. They did have trendy items but everything was just too mainstream for a high price. I personally like looking for unique finds whenever I go to a thrift store! I live an hour away and usually for thrifting I don't mind a long drive, but I won't be going back just to shop there. There's not a time i've came in here and the employees aren't being rude or making customers feel like you're an inconvenience to them. They have some pieces priced at $40 , it seems like they don't have thrift store prices at all anymore, defeats the purpose of coming to a thrift store if you ask me. Today i really had to use the restroom and the guy said "for you no! no service" made me want to throw one of the racks over on my way out, they're lucky i didn't. Not to mention one time me and my friend came in here , the first rack we walked up to literally fell on her and the christmas decorations on top of the rack hit her nail and broke it off (we had just got them done that day) The employees didn't even apologize or ask if we were okay.. all they did was pick up the rack and move the pieces onto another one. Ok the last reviews seem SO wacky but I've been coming here for months. Went yesterday and there hasn't been any new stock in the front the same old dresses and tops. Checked out a pair of Ralph Lauren wedges looked at the price $80?!? for a pair of USED shoes. Honestly some of their shoes are gross and dirty which I don't mind because it's a THRIFT store. Crazy how the word thrift is in there wasn't sure if I was shopping at Nordstrom or what...
