    BBQ Sammich

Driving back to MD had to give NC BBQ a second try (and hopefully not get sick this time). Heard great things about this place across the internet, so decided to stop by. It's definitely a bit out of the way, but I can tell you it's 100% worth it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful outdoor and picnic area when you park, and you walk in to this old school type of bar/restaurant. Tons of nostalgic items displayed across the walls and behind the bar, as well as a huge black board with specials and drinks which makes ordering easy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I grabbed a local Rice Lager by Funguys Brewing, that sadly was oxidized. Not the bar's fault though, but was really disappointed about that. Went classic and got a BBQ sandwich and fries, which came with coleslaw and hush puppies. Now the fries and hush puppies were perfectly cooked. Crispy with a good crunch, but then soft in the middle. When it comes to the sandwich -- I guess I just don't get NC BBQ. Medium sized sandwich on a potato roll with a bunch of dry, mildly seasoned meat. I dumped 1/8th of a bottle of Pig Whistle BBQ Sauce (only thing available) and it really didn't add much except for the taste of vinegar. Threw the coleslaw on there too, and still just didn't blend right. Now overall, everything tasted good, it's just not my cup of tea. The service was absolutely amazing and the rest of the menu looks phenomenal so I'll definitely be giving it a second try when I'm back down next week!

I would love to give 4.5 stars. Service was super friendly, quick, and efficient. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The environment was exactly what we were looking for in a local independent shop. Perfect!!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food! Unfortunately, they had run out of brisket so we cannot review it. The Fried Chicken, deviled eggs, and smoked wings were all TOP NOTCH. I would order it over and over again! I would pass on the "barbecue" (pulled pork), cucumbers, and fries. They were just average, and this place has so much that's way above average! The ribs were pretty good, but dwarfed in comparison to the chicken products. Really wanted to try dessert but we were WAY too full!!! Hope everyone enjoys this place as much as we did!

Best BBQ we've had in North Carolina. Every meat was succulent and delicious. The sides were all well made and flavorful. Friendly and attentive staff, a pleasure to visit.

Worth the stop from Goldsboro back home to Charlotte. I randomly picked this place because it was open on Sunday, full service, full bar and the food looked pretty good. The food ended up being better than good, it was great! Mac & cheese, baked beans, combo brisket and BBQ (pork), hush puppies. I wish I got the bartender's name but he was amazing and made the experience that much better. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a cool looking spot too, had the picnic feel but with escalated service and food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also ordered a banana pudding to go...wish I had gotten multiple! It was so good!

As you enter there is a sign that tells you to go look at the menu board, pick out your drink, and go back to the counter to order. I grabbed a diet coke, and ordered a Common Cobb. I was a bit surprise when my total came to $18, as my salad was only $14 but I guess I should have paid attention that my bottle of soda was over $3. How much are the fountain drinks, I wonder? I found us a table inside since it was a bit hot that day (there is also plenty of seating outside AND inside if you go downstairs). The table and floor were messy but someone quickly came to clean it for me. They called our names over the loudspeaker and my best friend went to go get our food. She got the MotherClucker. Our food was REALLY good. If you like Cobb salad, you will definitely like this one. The chicken was pan seared perfectly, the vinaigrette was perfectly tangy and the bleu cheese was especially excellent. My friend's chicken sandwich has SO MUCH chicken salad on it. Impressive. There was so many neat items to see in the place. The murals were great, there were some cute retail spaces, a coffee bar up front, a bar downstairs, and ice cream outside! Unfortunately my bestie and I had too much to talk about so we didn't check it out as much as I otherwise wood. I would definitely try this place again!

The place was packed on a Monday at lunch (but it was Memorial Day). You check out the menu, then get your chips and drink and pay at the register, then they call your name at the counter when your food is ready. They have a great assortment of drinks- soft drinks, sparkling water, ollipop, kombucha, also alcoholic drinks downstairs. They have a separate coffee bar and ice cream window, as well. We got sandwiches and fries. The fries were nice and hot, but needed salt- I'd probably skip them and go for chips in the future. The sandwiches were nice and not too expensive for 2025 lol. I had to add some condiments to mine, but that's definitely better than having them use too many condiments and not be able to eat your sandwich. My husband enjoyed his sandwich too (and added more condiments). The ambiance is really cool. If you sit upstairs you have a great view of the whole place and you can people-watch. The cashier was very nice and explained to us how everything worked. There was also someone who came around to check on us after we'd gotten our food, so that was nice to feel like staff/management care that you're having a good experience. Would definitely go back!

Inside the shop was a classic deli where you order at the counter and then browse the various goods/merch while you wait. Service was fast and the sandwiches came out within 5 minutes of ordering. There are a couple picnic tables outside to sit and eat but other than that, mostly a to-go place. First timers: get the Uncle Primo's, you won't regret it!

I walked in and Samantha, behind the bar, made us feel right at home. I knew she was going to be amazing after watching her with other customers.. She cares, helps them even with personal stuff, and looks out for them. You can tell there are regulars, they love the people and the restaurant. I love that vibe! I knew it wanted to try several things so I only orders appetizers. We got Chorizo (not tradional, more like a sausage) which came with fries, Provoletta and Log Jammers. She was right... the Log Jammers are addictive, but being a cheese person, my fav was the Provellta - so fabulously cheesy. The sausage was very good as well. My only swith up on things qould be the sauces... which you can do. The 3 mustard sauce comes with .the Log Jammers - pare that with the sausage. The herb vinegar that come with the Log Jammers, pares best with the Provella. And last, but not least... pare the Boom Boom sauce with the Log Jammers. Fabulous! We also got Ribs and mac and cheese. The full rack was huge and had ao much meat. The rub on it was delicious and I'd recommend the spicy bbq sauce which pares well with the rub. The slaw is NOT to mayonnaisey but is sweet. The Mac and Cheese seems to be on the homemade side - creamy but not like it's all processed cheese - more real cheese. Then it's baked with a nice layer on top. We had a great experience and even though I don't usually go to a restaurant more than once, I will be back. The food was great and the people and friendly atmosphere made it so much more.

This place is REALLY hard to find... it's behind the State Farm building, but there's barely any signage from the street. (Note: some photos here in Yelp seem to be from an older location.) We actually came one Saturday, but it was unexpectedly closed, but we caught them the following one, so good to call and confirm before driving over. You walk up to a door on the back, and scan a QR code to see the menu. Then knock on/ open the door and someone will come to take your order. Then you wait outside and they bring you your sandwiches. The lady who took our order was very friendly. The kitchen was rather large, so I suspect it's used for more than just this business. We ordered two turkey subs-- the East New York (which was slightly spicy) and the Dumbo. Wait time was maybe 7-10 minutes or so. Both sandwiches came nicely wrapped, and I think total cost was a little over $20. And conveniently, they take Apple Pay. These were not your Subway or Quiznos sandwiches-- these were DELICIOUS pressed sandwiches (we got them on focaccia. I personally liked the Dumbo the best-- it had a nice mix of flavors that meshed well. The East New York was solid and had a nice spiciness, but not quite as exciting overall. Would I come back? Probably, but since there's no seating, and it's a bit awkward, maybe not the first place I'd think to try, but again, the sandwiches were REALLY good. I do think it may be excellent for catering or for getting picnic sandwiches though.
