Vegetarian Plate; tostones, vainitas, maduros, fried yucca
    Lindsay A.

My whole family loves Pico Rojo! We eat here regularly. Service is quick and the restaurant is cozy inside. The vegetarian options are delicious - we especially love the rice and beans, tostones, fried yucca, vainitas, and the cosecha salad. The two sauces that come with the yucca and tostones are the best - the green is spicy, and the yellow is creamy. They are the perfect pair! I like to support this local, family owned business with quality ingredients and delicious food!

I was in town for a business meeting and was looking for a Latin Cuban place to eat at. I found several yelp and Google reviews on this place and all had great reviews on how good the food tasted. I ordered the half chicken which was a rotisserie style chicken that came with fried plantains and, rice and beans as my sides. For dessert I ordered the cheese empanada with powdered sugar. For starters, the chicken was succulent, juicy and absolutely well seasoned and delicious. The sides were on a whole Nother level. The fried plantains were some of the best that I ever had, this restaurant would get a five star review just on the food quality alone however when it came to the staff, the ambience and the selection of food I was truly impressed. This restaurant was as authentic as I can imagine for Latin food in Tampa and was 100% what I expected when trying to find the best Latin food in town. in the restaurant, you can see that it had multiple of wars from the city and I completely agree with every single one of them. Great feature of this restaurant was different types of Latin soda that they had available. I chose to have a pineapple soda, which really complemented all the savory foods that I had. my thoughts please come out to try this restaurant. He won't be disappointed and don't forget to try the cheese empanada as a dessert. The dessert had a flaky crust perfectly melted cheese on the inside and had the perfect amount of savory and sweet at the same time. I definitely will be back on my next visit to Tampa and highly recommend any visitors or locals to come to this place.

Monica definitely knows her way around the kitchen!! the food is always fresh and seasoned too perfection!! My daughter and I have been here several times and nothing has changed. Also the service you received cannot be beat. Monica walks around talking to the customers as well as cooking and serving the food. Great food and great customer service from all of the staff.

Last minute hunt for lunch in the area brought me to Pico Rojo and I'm so glad it did. This Latin America restaurant is casual cool found in a strip mall off of McMullen booth and enterprise. I was a bit concerned when it was empty at 1pm but there were still plenty of take out orders coming and leaving. This isn't a traditional restaurant with servers but rather order at the counter from the menu on the wall and either take it to go or they bring to your table. Similar to some fast food places. The main fare is roasted chicken. I had the meal with white chicken and 2 sides. Sides were fried cheese and sweet plantains. Drinks you choose from the fridge. Latin America options, American options and imported beer. The chicken came with two small sauces that were good. $14 minus the drink If you're looking for fast but not fast food lunch and are in the Clearwater McMullen booth area check it out!

Cozy small shop with enough variety of dishes to choose from. The cashier was friendly and the inside is nicely decorated. There's enough parking. There is seating inside and outside. The rice with black beans was my favorite. The chicken empanadas was my less favorite.

I'm back here again 6/11 and they arrest every customer like family and every meal is made with love. Worth the trip every time.

Fried Yuca! Yes, you want it, & they want you too! So good!

Seriously, the best chicken can be found here. They have 15 seasonings and they roast it overnight. It's not dry whatsoever. I ordered the whole chicken with four sides and said it's for two people and they divided our plates so it was nice and perfect. Their sides are so good. We had fried bananas fried Dominican cheese, corn, and fried yuca. They serve it with a yellow(mild) and green(spicy) sauce and when you mix it together, it's just perfect. Wash it down with your favorite spanish soda and you will be happy. I had Guarana and my hubby had postabon!! Love sitting outdoors. It's older inside. The owner and people working are super nice also!

Family run Latin restaurant with very very good homemade food. Excellent and friendly staff will make you feel welcomed. Their food is prepared with a feeling of pride from the chef!

Nothing fancy but good food! The empanadas are very tasty, as well as the chicken, a little expensive for the type of restaurant.

I see lots of great reviews, and I found this on a gluten free search, bu there is no mention of gluten free in any of the reviews. Is this a gluten free restaurant?

We each ordered an entree along with a side of mashed potatoes and a side of the crispy brussel sprouts. Again, both were excellent in flavor, but $8 for a "cup" of mashed potatoes to share at the table and $12 for approximately three sprouts thinnly sliced and tossed with fried onions and bacon? Hardly shareable. My seared tuna was very good and a decent size portion but seriously? You can't serve shelled edamame? Fishing the bean pods out of the sauce to clumsily try to squirt the bean out should not be happening with a dish that is $34. We ordered a bottle of wine which we all enjoyed. My last complaint is that the restaurant was extremely warm. We all were on the verge of breaking out in a sweat. For those prices, invest in some sort of better air conditioning. The service was fine. The meal was $300 with tip, and considering everything, we feel it's not worth going back.

The famous historic 1905 salad originally created in 1905 was made table side by Tossing 4 cups of chopped iceberg lettuce, 1/2 cup julienned ham, 1/2 cup julienned Swiss cheese, 1 ripe chopped tomato, and 1/2 cup green Spanish olives. We didn't talked about whether I wanted hot sauce or not and I said yes I do. He brought out a bottle of their homemade hot sauce so I'm ready to go. I ordered two of the Birria Tacos with shrimp and a Birria quesadilla with shrimp. I have to say that the services really excellent the gentleman was very friendly open. Ask how my day was going.
