Thought this place would have excellent pies but was left very underwhelmed. Was in the mood for cream pie so I picked up a coupe of slices. First slice was a coconut cream pie. There was no crust on the bottom. I get it, maybe who ever cut it and put it in the container broke the crust and tried to salvage the slice. Felt like I was eating coconut pudding without the crust. The second slice was chocolate cream pie and I looked on the bottom and saw there was crust. Still underwhelmed. The crust is nonexistent in these cream pies. Very thin crust and once again felt like I was eating chocolate pudding. Maybe the fruit pies are better. I basically paid $10 and some change for pudding. read more

We were greeted by a very enthusiastic person (owner, perhaps?) and when I say enthusiastic, I mean we were given information about every possible sale and special coming up. Ok people! It's time to stop thinking cupcakes and step into the world of pies! I just stopped by their new pop up location in Scottsdale, 90th and via Linda , and bought 5 pies and 6 mini savory pot pies. I couldn't help but bake a chicken pot pie right away, aaaaand while that little pot of yumminess was baking, I decided, what the hell.... why not....I dove into the cherry pie. Best I've ever had. Sorry granny. Then, because dessert was for dinner, dinner was now for dessert. So flavorful! So flakey! Lots of chicken and veggies... again... best ever! My wife and her friend visited piefection today. Customer service was ok I was told. They paid $19.00 for a simple pie about the quality of Bashas pies. They were told it would be $2.00 extra to have pie sliced, and $1.00 refund if pan was returned. Wtf! So its extra to have them inconvenienced to slice pie, and I guess they reuse pans. So they sat there and ate an unsliced, overpriced pie probably in a reused pan. We own a retail business and would never thrown in ridiculous charges like this place! Pies are usually great except the recent pumpkin cheesecake was very dry and lacked flavor and it also had nuts on it so my son who is highly allergic to buts couldn't eat. Additionally their staff was very rude on our recent trip and basically tossed the apple pie we bought at us so much so that 1/4 of it came out of the pie pan. I get that is hard to find good staff but that is no reason to be rude or lower the quality of your product. read more

Their chicken pot pie really IS PIEfection! The egg washed crust is light and flaky and the inside of the pie is filled with amazingly seasoned goodness - everything a pot pie should have. I will be going every chance I get. Looking forward to tasting the whole menu! YUM! read more

Just had the most infuriating interchange with this place. Not our fist negative experience but the one to push me over the edge. We have frequented this place cause let's face it they make good pie but so do a lot of other places that I will now be going to. There are some basic customer service skills that have to be in place and promoted...like explaining why an order never got filled along with zero explanation as to why we weren't notified it wasn't filled. My wife brought home a fresh country Dutch apple pie which she as so excited for me to try since it is my favorite. Well I cut a piece and I already sense a problem. So I flip over the piece of pie and the crust is uncooked dough. Seriously they sold us an uncooked pie. I called to see if they sold uncooked pies. Nope. That Pecan Pie is the bomb--diggity. Even better than Ma'am Maw's! The slightly candied-up crust is chewrific!!! This place deserves a bonus star for customer service, too. I was SO excited to go to Piefection for my first time today! I saw them on the local morning news a few months ago. When I arrived, it had a bit of a line, which showed me that this must be good! When it was my turn to order, the lady was very UNwelcoming. She was in a hurry and quickly asked what I wanted. I told her and she went and retrieved the 2 quiches I requested and handed them over the counter to me. I also had taken a pie from the refrigerator to pay for as well. She then abruptly asked if I was paying by card and I told her that I was. Mind you, I am now HOLDING 3 pies and trying to quickly get out my wallet from my purse to pull out my card to hand to her... not an easy task. She just watched me struggle. After I gave her the card I asked her if she would please take the boxes and put them in s bag for me. She was annoyed, but did it. It was just not a pleasant experience nor first impression. I drove 45 minutes to the store and thought it would have been a fun experience, as their website encourages you to come in and experience it. I haven't tasted the pies yet, but so far I'm not impressed with their customer service in any way. Good customer service is the key to making new customers and retaining them!!!! read more

These pies could compete for best in the state with Trappers Café in Taylor, AZ. We have to try like 6 different flavors every time we go because they all look SO good. The fruit pies have the perfect sweet-tart ratio, the cream pies are awesome and there's always a gem in their weekly or monthly specialty items. Staff was friendly and willing to accommodate, as we split a pie with another customer. Great experience, great pies! read more

Sorry to say but the quality has went down drastically the last couple of months. Used to buy 2-3 pies a month but lately nothing seems quite right. Got a peach pie which was brown and obliviously 3-4 days old but sold as fresh, bought a apple pie that was in an old box with cherry cream smirked all over the inside and finally both pie pans were old and had a nasty black substance all over the rim. Done for a while the Frys down the street has pies for $5 and are every bit as good or better than the $18-20 you pay here. May try again in a few months and see if there is any improvements. I had the Peanut Butter Dream, Banana Cream and the Cookie Butter Pie. I'm not much of a pie person, but you know what...as I'm getting older I think I would prefer to eat pie over cake...lol. The pies were really good and the pies I had seemed rich in sweetness, well... Peanut Butter Dream for sure! I really want to try the other flavors, so I will be back. This is a cute little pie place and if you want to try a slice, instead of buying a whole pie, you have that option. There is sooo many options to choose from. I bought two pies at Piefection for Thanksgiving, a coconut cream and lemon blueberry sour cream. The coconut cream pie was horrible. It wasn't creamy at all. It looked like the cream was curdled when we cut into it. I threw the whole pie in the garbage. The lemon blueberry sour cream had very little creamy filling. Mostly canned blueberries with a little lemon glaze on top. I have purchased pies here on other occasions. They were never this bad. I would have demanded my money back but a friend of mine was nice to pick up the pies and deliver them to me so I didn't have a receipt. $40 down the drain. read more

I bought a French Silk Pie on 3/16/22. It was my birthday & heard good reviews. When we tried the pie later that day the pie had no flavor & I was truly disappointed. If you are going out of your way to a specialty pie store, it should blow you away. Especially when the pie is 2 to 3 times the price of a grocery store. Piefection is very close to a store bought pie. We had the peach pie. Didn't taste like fresh peaches and way too mushy. Crust could have been much better. Not really anything impressive about this place. In the future I would make my own and save about 14 dollars, or go to Safeway and save 11 dollars. read more

Been going to this place since it opened and never disappointed. Yes, you probably won't absolutely love every pie they have as some of them are definitely going to appeal to specific tastes. That being said, if you like desserts, this place is great. Some of our favorites include the Arizona Orange (pretty much an orange version of a key lime), the White Chocolate Raspberry, and also their Black & White. I will be honest that their fruit pies are decent, but I think the cream pies are where they really shine (and are more unique). Pot pies are also great and can make a nice quick lunch or dinner pick up if you can snag a couple ready to go (tip, you may want to call ahead if it's nearing the 6:30 PM closing time as they are often pretty much sold out of warm pies to go by the end of the day). Some of the monthly special pies are great also. For instance, we love the boston cream (which just happens to be the pie for August right now). read more

I am so very disappointed that they did not take preorders this year. We have ordered our pies from here every year since they opened. I was NOT able to get No Sugar added pies! We have several family members with diet restrictions due to medical conditions that can't have sugar. I guess I will be finding a new place for Christmas and Thanksgiving and Easter pies. I wish i could give this place a decent review. They do have nice boxes and I felt the service was kind...it's just when you open that box...you realize really quick that's really all they've got going. The pies aren't that good and some were just plain bad. We've tried a few options. The French Silk consistency is like brownie batter, not firm at all, and the taste is just was too sweet and not good, even the chocolate shavings on top weren't that good. Of the 4 of us who ate this, none of us like it. The Strawberry Dream had very little strawberry on top (NOTHING like the picture). It was a about 50/50 pie filling to pie topping ratio - I could see the white of the cream cheese and it appeared a few strawberries were used as a light sprinkle on top. The taste of the cream cheese wasn't awful, but also a bit runny in comparison to similar Strawberry Dream type pies. The Arizona Orange may have been okay if the graham crust was substituted for a traditional crust, but again, not that good and hard to say if that would even help. I will say the Banana Cream was probably our favorite of the four. It was just alright. For all of the pies, the crust is very flaky and thin in spots. I expect more from a shop thats main focus is actually pies. Overall overpriced. A pie from Albertsons would be better received and less embarrassing to present to a friend if taking to as a gift. read more

Oct. 26, 2020 about 12pm.Came in to get a pie to do different than a ordinary birthday cake. Was super excited because my other half loves pies. Thinking it would be amazing compared to a store bought pie, boy was I wrong and super upset once we took the first bite. The crust has absolutely zero flavoring, dry and when we opened the box it was completely cracked. I almost think they mistaken it for a sugar free pie. We paid 16.00 plus tax for a pie that was uneditable I didn't realize at first the lady was a little rude until my we got into our vehicle and my son said he felt weird by her behavior. Vary VARY UPSET. A birthday celebration was completely ruined, wish we would have just got a cake. We literally threw out the pie. Waste of money! Totally not fair if I hadn't cut everyone a piece I would have took it back for sure! Instead it went to the garbage along with our money and a birthday fail! read more

It was Christmas Eve at Noon. I was rushing to get all of my last minute things done. When I realized I hadn't picked up my pies. I went to another store and they were CLOSED! I raced to Piefection. I told the nice Lady in the front I had no pie! This is hard for me as I have celiac and can't eat just any pie. Cheryl the owner came out and asked me to come back right before closing. If she had a gluten free pie she would sell it to me. I came back right before closing, I was presented with a beautiful gluten free pie!!! They had made one just for me!! I was so happy, Cheryl and her team saved my Christmas with their gorgeous pie. Some companies go above and beyond, but this was far more. Updated review: I was initially very upset after my first visit to Piefection. There was some miscommunication about the availability for a certain type of pie. Cheryl reached out immediately and apologized for the experience. She offered one of the kindest gestures I have seen. The day before Thanksgiving, she delivered two Kentucky Derby pies to my house to make up for the previous visit. Huge thanks to Cheryl, you have made a lifelong customer! On to the important stuff. The pies were the best that I have ever had. We got two Kentucky Derby pies and two Pecan pies. They were the hit of Thanksgiving and were absolutely delicious. The crust on the pies is perfectly light and flaky. These Kentucky Derby pies were better than the ones from Kentucky, and that's pretty darn impressive. Pecan pies were quite incredible as well. I can't say thank you to Cheryl enough, you really made my Thanksgiving! Absolutely fantastic pies and customer service. I am forever grateful and will surely be back many times. read more

I'd probably give my rating a 3.5 if I could. I visited the shop for my first time on National Pizza Day... Tempted by the ads I was seeing on Facebook for pizza pot pie. I was a little off put when looking at some of the dessert pies in the show cases because they looked a little old. I had contemplated getting one of the chocolate dipped strawberry pies for Valentines, but the strawberries and raspberries on it looked very old. I'm not sure if that was because it was just a show pie to show what it looks like vs the actual pie one would get. I was excited for dinner and my pizza pot pies. I got them frozen and followed the directions to bake them. While they were fairly good, all 3 of us who ate one agreed that they were very soupy inside. There was a lot of liquid and it was more eating pizza soup. I did enjoy the crust though, but was disappointed it didn't line the whole pie tin. I might try them again at some point, but the pies are very pricey and I'm not sure the quality is something I can't get elsewhere at lower cost. read more

So I was looking for pie for my wedding. So I called beforehand to see which ones I could freeze because it is quite far from our location. The lady I spoke with- was simply fantastic answered all my questions. So my fiance and I made the trek down to Mesa... 30 miles. We walk in, it was apparently slice day. My fiance loves key lime pie. I was intrigued by the orange pie. So we each got a slice... might as well try before you buy the entire pie. The lady who picked out the pie was sweet and nice. That was good. But the lady who checked us out was cold, rude, and a bit rushed... at that point it was only us an another customer. She also griped about a customer who wanted a "double crust" pie. In front of other customers so you know that's great...not. We got our pie (without a fork, no asking if we wanted one or anything) I take a bite into my pie, it was okay kind of confusing flavor so I took a bite of my fiances key lime. Let's just say they were way too similar. The crust and the whipped cream was great. The filling was more so- eh. We decided at that point to leave without a good bye or see you soon. If we choose to go by again if we are in the area, maybe fix a few things, try some customer service. and a more strong orange flavor. My service still holds true to the other pie place up north, I wont name names but you get the idea. read more
