Came today with family first time and last time for me. I am deathly allergic to onions and made that perfectly clear to our server Cassandra. When my food came out not only was it not what I ordered but it was loaded with onions. I explained they must remake entire meal and not just pull the onions off Cassandra assured me that it would not just be taken off! My food came out and I could smell the onions and I was smart enough not to eat the part that touched the onions. I ordered the fudge sampler and it was hard as a rock. A manager came out and apologized and said he would take the meal and fudge off my bill but seemed bothered by the fact that I could of died if I ingested the food . Cassandra brought the bill and guess what the bill was not adjusted because obviously management and staff don't communicate. I will never go back and I will also tell others not to go . Cassandra apologized stating she was sorry that her services were. not up to my standards, sweetie you made the career choice to be a server not me and you take care of the people who tip you! I have waited tables and you can best believe my tables were always taken care of and I listened to the needs and concerns of my customers. Water cups should be filled regularly and I was empty the entire meal so I drank my fathers! read more

This place use to be good. It is no longer a place to go to get a good meal. We had fish and chips and their burger. The fish and chips were a greasy mess. The greasy fish was placed on top of the fries. The burger had such a thick bun you could hardly taste the Hamburg. The waitress did take the fish and chips off the bill but we much rather of had the manger talk to us about how he might improve his food preparation. Sorry to say we have crossed this place off our list of restaurants. We will have to enjoy the view from somewhere else. read more

A friend took me here as she was there when it was Mattisons and recommended it. Sat outside and the leaves were everywhere. I had the scallops, $26.00 and they were gritty...horrible. They also had some kind of bad sauce in the dish? Have no clue what that was. Ordered a mojito and it too was awful which I sent back. When this information was relayed to the waitress, Meghan, all she did was listen and finally said, "did you want me to send someone over?". The proper thing would have been for her to go to the manager without even asking and inform him/her and correct the bad experience. I too will never go back there!! I went there for new years eve with a group of people and was disappointed. It was a cold night and they did not have enough heaters for the outdoor tables. When we asked for a heater we were told they didn't have enough. The Buffet was subpar. After a few minutes the dessert table was empty and they did not replenish it (even after we asked them). We ended our vacation at Pier 22 Patio on Friday afternoon and it was the perfect place for our group!! The Happy Hour menu is extensive and having tried multiple appetizers, everything was delicious! We really enjoyed the Grouper Artichoke Gratin. Delicious!! The view is beautiful and I highly recommend you see sunset from this vantage point. Its breath taking! But for my group- the biggest stars were the employees and their impeccable service. We had a large group and Lindsey, Shaun and Nicole took exceptional care of all of us!!! Highly recommend the Patio for fun, food, cocktails and a great time!! read more

One of our favorite places in Bradenton. We often bring out-of-town guests here and dine outside on the patio by the river. Great views and nice atmosphere. The food is pretty good and the happy hour deals are well worth the effort to get there before 7pm. It's kid and dog friendly outside so we often bring our 5 year-old granddaughter. read more

Our server was nice however we will never come back here. Twice we were given moldy water and later told that they had known about the problem since the morning. Thank you for the moldy water that my kids drank. Really nice of you. When I politely informed the manager, I half expected for an apology but that didn't happen. The escargot I ordered was old and slimy. And the jambalaya that probably comes packaged since it is identical to The Beach House was not made fresh. The best things about this restaurant is the view and the waffles. Avoid asking for drinks except alcohol. And do not expect the manager to actually care about a customer's experience. Awful service combined with mediocre food. Add some poor attitude from the staff and they are lucky to have one star. We arrived early for our reservation and were asked to wait, which we expected. We checked in at our reservation time and were told we would be seated when it got close to our reservation time. I said it was our reservation time and was told "we had 7 more minutes, according to their clock." Fifteen minutes after our reservation time, we asked again about being seated. "We do have a table. Would you like to be seated?" Really???? We were then seated in the smallest, windowless space in the restaurant. Another 15 minutes later, a server came over and asked if anyone had helped us. Drinks and lukewarm food trickled out - and I mean trickled - over the next almost 2 hours. Our server asked if we would like dessert after she brought our check. I went to Pier 22 twice in 2 weeks. I brought my friends to eat there and our margarita pizza came out cold and looked like it was sitting out for awhile. The fries were also cold for our dinner. The waitress was rude and never came back to see if we needed anything. I had to find a busboy to help me return the food. I thought I would give Pier 22 another chance. Sunday, April 29th, I brought my daughters there for happy hour. We ordered Oysters. The oysters were never washed and we had dirt in our mouth when we started to eat them. I think it was moss and dirt on the oysters shells. Even the waiter was appalled. We have been going here for 10 years and loved the place. Friends and family said don't go back this year for dinner. They were right. A truly beautiful place to sit outside and watch the boats. Unfortunately, I won't be going back.... (Pier 22 did reverse the charge for the oysters. ). read more

We have been going there for 30 years through various ownerships normally for weekend lunches. The last time was a few weeks ago. We ordered the Shrimp Cocktail for an Appetizer. For $10 we expected the classic. Instead we got 6 medium-small size limp shrimp with no tails cooked in some kind of nasty spices. Pretty disgusting. Don't order that because it's lousy. read more

We chose this restaurant for our rehearsal dinner in November 2013 because we always LOVED the food and was never disappointed. The appetizers were always outstanding. Well come rehearsal dinner time we had about 30-35 people and a choice between several items. We thought we chose the best and EVERY single person (except the kids since they actually got an awesome kids menu) complained how terrible the dinner was. They said the lobster bisque wasnt even real lobster bisque they didnt even know what it was and we were so happy to have that as a choice since everyone loves it. They said the caesar salad was very bland and there was hardly ANY dressing at all. My dad and brother in law are great cooks and know their food and they said the scampi florentine was the worst they have ever tasted. The garlic mashed potatoes were as hard as a rock and had enormous chunks in them. We were supposed to get market fresh veggies and the meals came with spaghetti squash which i don't think anyone touched. Our coordinator was not good at communicating and sometimes she never responded to my inquiries at all. I had to send reminder emails and I remember getting a response saying she had been out of the office for a couple of days when I know for a fact she was there. Not very professional. The ONLY positive thing about the meal was the sushi appetizer which everyone said was very good. We were better off just ordering a bunch of appetizers. Very disappointed and embarrassed. We talked up this place to everyone and for as much as we had to spend for the food (over $1,700!!!) we expected things to be amazing! My brother-in-law made a comment that the problem with "limited menu" dining such as for big parties or rehearsal dinners, they "cater" the food so its never as good as the actual menu and the slack a lot in this department to make it easier on themselves. I wish I would've known that a head of time for this place because we definitely would've had our rehearsal dinner elsewhere. I do NOT recommend having a bigger party here. VERY WEAK! I feel like a let a lot of people down who tried this place for the first time and never want to eat there again. read more

The company I work for has hosted a few events at Pier 22. We absolutely adore the location and the staff. They're attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the area and dining options. I highly recommend them to anyone thinking of having a large event such as a wedding, seminar or company party. Pier 22 has always been one of our favorite restaurants, we recommend it to anyone that asks us where to go in Bradenton for a good meal. Today I brought my out of town family there for lunch (8 of us), I knew that they did a brunch there but assumed that we would be able to order off a regular menu..Unfortunately this was not the case. I found the Sunday brunch menu very small, there were no appetizers that didn't include seafood (I cant eat seafood) and we had several vegetarians in our party that ended up having to eat omelets due to a lack of vegetarian alternatives besides salad. The service was fine and they loved the view but we were quite disappointed with the limited menu. We asked our server if we could order off the regular menu but were told not until 3pm. As we were leaving we noticed the table next to us receiving their food and were surprised to see a pizza and several other items that were not on the brunch menu being served to them... I love Pier 22 so will return again but never, ever on a Sunday before 3pm!! read more

We're new residents in Florida and have only been to this restaurant twice. The first time was a couple of weeks ago when we had lunch there. The service and the food was exceptionally good. We were very impressed. We decided to go back for dinner last night. We didn't have reservations so we got a table outside. We got our drink orders and didn't have to wait long. I ordered the prime rib, my wife had Grouper and her sister had blackened cod. They were fairly busy. I thought it was strange that we weren't given bread. Our food came but we had no silverware. I told the server and he nodded. After a few minutes I went to the hostess and complained that we still didn't have tableware. I got back to the table just as the waiter brought some. He said, "so they didn't bring the silverware when they brought the food?" I said "No, and we were waiting". I barley finished that sentence and he was gone. No apology. The food was very good although the cod was very small. The waiter came back shortly and said "The food is good eh?" Again, he was off before we had a chance to say reply. He didn't ask if there was anything else we needed. Very strange I thought. While we were eating we noticed another table had been served bread. The waiter came back after we finished eating and dropped off the check without saying a word. I paid for the meal and he came back to pick up the check. He said "Do me a favor and have a Merry Christmas" or to that effect. Then he left hurriedly before we had anything to say. I want to chalk this up to just a bad waiter experience and hope it is not the norm. read more

Has Pierr 22 lost its chef? Is it under new management? This was always one of my top 4 go to places for a really delicious meal, impeccable service and terrific view. Well this past Saturday the view was the only familiar thing. It seemed like it took forever to be acknowledged by the waitstaff and once we were it seemed like we were an inconvenience. they ran out of our favorite dish so we opted for a burger. I have always enjoyed the burgers at Pier 22 because they had a unique flavor - the meat was really fresh. It was really odd, the server followed up by asking How is the temperature of the burger? I can honestly say I have never been asked that question before. The burgers and side were cold. The meat looked and tasted like it was cooked from frozen - no flavor, no texture and kind of a grey color. It seems like the restaurant it is transitioning into a bar hand out rather than a dining destination. Too bad because it used to have it all; location alone just does not make the grade. read more

I've eaten here for several years. Happy hour is awesome, but sadly, the quality of the food has declined. My husband and I came to the bar tonight before a show at the Manatee Players. We ordered our usual martinis, which were poured perfectly, as usual. Next, we ordered a spider roll. Kudos to the sushi chef. It was delicious and they even offered us gluten free soy sauce. I should have stayed with the sushi. We then ordered the rack of lamb. It was listed as a rosemary, garlic, and breadcrumb preparation with mint. They should have mentioned the incredible amount of horseradish they added. It came out cold; I had to saw through it with my knife because it wasn't properly butchered; the sauce was an insipid mess of mint jelly and fresh mint. The regular next to me asked about it and mentioned how disappointed he has been with the food lately. I will skip the kitchen from now on and stay with sushi. read more

Being young, I am used to servers paying less attention to my table or giving sub-par service as they think we automatically aren't going to tip well, which couldn't be further from the truth. A friend and I decided to go ahead and try sushi from this restaurant as I had to work late and we couldn't find a place that was open a little later. Pier 22 has their hours posted as 11:30 am - 10:00 pm, working in a few restaurants myself, I completely understand the annoyance of people coming in to eat 10 minutes before close but we arrived 30-45 minutes before their closing time and didn't plan on sitting for very long. Upon walking in, we weren't greeted by anyone though there were numerous servers speeding past us. We were sort of unsure where to sit at this point as we didn't know what was self-seating or not. Eventually, a server came up and gave us the "why are you here" look and rudely asked what we "wanted to do". We told him we just wanted to have sushi and were okay with sitting at the sushi bar or a high top, which ever was easier for them and he told us that he "needed to go ask" someone something, as if he didn't know if servers wanted to take us or if they were still taking tables half an hour before close, though there were numerous tables in the dining room, nonchalantly sipping their wine and talking. He came back and pretty much told us to sit at the sushi bar because that was the only way we were going to be waited on. The waitress eventually greeted us and took our orders, came back once to fill our drinks and then again to get the check, the first server that "greeted us" took our plates right when we finished to rush us out the door. We ate our food and left by closing time and there were still people sitting in the dining room eating so I'm not quite sure why we were the only ones being rushed. I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant before nor have I ever felt the need to write a yelp review but the service was awful and the food wasn't too great either. Needless to say, I won't ever be coming back to this place again. read more

There is no question the establishment is well located right on the Manatee River and exudes ambiance. If it wasn't for the good company I was in I would have returned my dinner as completely unacceptable. I know when I go to McDonald's what to expect every time every where. For the price at Pier 22 and touting themselves as being the best in seafood, game and beef entrees I expected delicious cuisine. Ordered Grouper Picatta, which I was told was the black grouper, the best. Asked for the asparagus as a substitute for the vegetable medley. Dinner was plated with the vegetable medley and quickly the manager came out with the asparagus I asked for. Mind you, this asparagus as a side is $4 and you get - 4 spears - slightly less than blanched. The grouper was in what tasted like an alfredo sauce with no remote taste to the butter, lemon, wine with capers sauce I'm accustomed to - and not even enough of this alfredo sauce for the dried over cooked tasteless grouper sitting next to a wad of glue that was called corn risotto. The wine was good, but that didn't come out of the kitchen. Had to tell the waitress, even though I don't really drink champagne which is what was ordered before dinner, to at least bring me a glass (rude not to); when dessert was ordered to share to at least bring us plates; and to not clear plates until everyone was finished eating (albeit one of my pet peeves of wait staff who are in a rush to do that). Might go back for a glass of wine and the view but then I could do that anywhere in Bradenton. Live and learn. read more

We had a great waitress Crystal. Really knew the menu well and offered advice that should have been spot on.. unfortunately the chef clearly doesn't have any taste buds that would recognize when he has over salted. The snapper special was inedible. Crystal offered to exchange it, practically begged us to let him redo it, but my wife had lost her appetite from it, so she declined. My prime rib was delicious as long as I didn't dip it in the over salty dipping AU jus that was on the plate. Beautiful restaurant, great vibe, sat outside, incredible service which made the experience worthwhile but next time chef, let someone. Taste what you are putting out. Salt is good, but eating your dinner so it tastes like you are sucking on a salt shaker is crazy. There us a fine balance chef. My opinion, new chef with no oversight.
