Ample sitting outside facing the marina, huge reception room if you have a private function as it was the case today and another room. A vast menu that mixes hot sandwiches ($18) and basic entrees ($25). Service is pleasant but slow. I went for eggplant parmigiana with a side of steamed rice (you can also have mash, pilaf rice and a soup of your choice. We were served complimentary bread and butter. On paper , it should work. Maybe I chose the wrong dish. The food was not nice at all.

Enjoyed coming here on a Sunday with my friends. Not super busy and we were seated immediately. The TV was showing the football game which was nice. Oysters were delicious and overall such great customer service.

This restaurant has a great location with plenty of parking and an outdoor patio area for dining. They have a nice looking bar area. We have had lunch and dinner here a few times in the past and it's always a hit and miss on the quality and taste of the food. Last night we ordered the clam chowder and my soup did not have any clams a few pieces of potatoes and large chunks of onion. I did not have one piece of clam in my soup. For my main dish, I order the ground round steak, it was OK, but I needed to add a lot of salt and pepper to give it that extra flavor that it was lacking. We ordered a few alcoholic drinks, and they were a little mild on the alcohol. They could've added a little more alcohol to the drinks. The women's restroom looks somewhat clean the stall walls really need to be clean. The stall wall has a lot of fingerprints and look dirty.

Maybe on a warm summer night with sunset views over the bay, this place would be worth the price. But as it were, on a chilly mid-week spring evening, this place felt drafty and lonesome. It's clearly got its regulars, who were all on a non-name-tag first-name basis with the sole waiter/bartender. Cheers to all of them. The meal seemed like upscale theme park fare--an afterthought straight out of the freezer. With the exception of the creamy sauce served over the shrimp and scallops, the food was unremarkable. The seafood was not especially fresh, the steamed vegetables tired and dry. The place wasn't warm to outsiders. The bill was too high for what we got. I live here on the island, but I unfortunately won't be back any time soon.

Much, much better! I see there has been changes to the management, so we thought we'd give them another chance. At first we were to be seated in the larger dining area alone, but we asked to be on the bar side. They accommodated us without issue. To me the bar side is warmer in atmosphere and the Warriors were on the television. Thank you for that. Our server was attentive, friendly and had a great sense of humor. Our first surprise since our last visit, was the bread. Previously it was unappealing plain white bread, but now it is a very nice sourdough. It would have been even better warmed. We then ordered Clam Strips and Clam Chowder as appetizers. They were also much better than our last visit. While really good, the chowder needed more seasoning. We all hit it with S&P and it was great! One of my favorite appetizers was the crab cakes, If I have know they were that good, I would have ordered them as my entree'. We then ordered salad with our entree's. It was fresh and a nice companion to the main dish. I had the Cajun Scallop & Shrimp saute' and enjoyed every bite. My wife had the grilled prawns with garlic butter, also really good. And last, my son ordered the muscles. He said the muscles were good, but that he expected them in a cream sauce, whereas, the sauce was more of a light broth that needed to be doctored. That aside, a very nice dinner was enjoyed by us all. We will definitely be back!

We are repeat customers here. It's quiet and views are spectacular. Servers are nice good portions for your money. Quality shrimp and fish, as well as seasoned well. Seems to be family owned and love to support family owned businesses. A hidden gem in Alameda Fave dishes: Sauté Fish/shrimp & chips

It's a longtime local favorite of mine and my go-to spot for meeting up with friends--equal parts escape and comfort. The cocktail menu is impressively deep, full of beautifully crafted, fancy tiki drinks that practically beg to be explored, and so far every single one I've tried has been delicious (dangerously so). Inside, the bar nails the classic tiki vibe--warm, immersive, and transportive--while the outdoor patio offers a lovely, relaxed option with plenty of extra seating on warm days. It's the kind of place where you can linger, laugh, and lose track of time. The staff deserve a special shout-out: genuinely friendly, attentive, and accommodating, which only adds to the overall experience. A quick pro tip: if you're planning to stop by during popular after-work hours, definitely make a reservation--it fills up for good reason. The food menu is on the smaller side, but the bites are tasty and thoughtfully done, perfect for sharing alongside a round (or two) of cocktails. All in all, Forbidden Island is a standout spot that keeps me coming back again and again.

It feels comfortable and if you're regular here feels like you're just going to something familiar. There's a backyard area with seating as well. I came here with my brother and my sister-in-law for a drink after having dinner in the area. The people were friendly and helpful. We ordered a few of the tiki drinks. I got the banana hammock, lol. It was tasty and refreshing. Overall, great spot, and I hope to return in the near future. Parking on the street wasn't too hard to find. We parked about a block away in the residential area.

She loved the whole clams in it plus the soup was the right consistency. Would order that again! We shared the ceasar and I love the boquerones although I would've loved the ceasar to have a bite of garlic and anchovies in their dressing. The dressing was creamy although it fell flat for me. Maybe next time, if they offer the stone fruit salad again, perhaps it was only available per season- I'll order that instead. We also tried their crab omelette which came with potatoes. We loved it because it was fresh. I appreciate the service and our server honored my request to serve avocado on the side as I have an allergy. My mom finished her freshly squeezed orange juice and she thought that was a nice touch. I've been here once before. I remembered they had a designated parking lot in the rear but by the time we arrived, the lot was full. We did find a space on the street. I'd return, come early and I'd like to try other things on the menu.

The oysters didn't taste fresh and the crab & avocado tasted ammonia-y as what you also get with non-fresh seafood. My husband said his corn hash tasted sour and gave him a stomach ache. The French fries were great though... that was the only part of the meal I felt enthusiastic about. The ambiance was fine and the upstairs part is kid friendly. I wouldn't go here again.

Service was excellent and I love how the servers have all worked at this restaurant for a long time - staff retention is a rare thing these days. The burrata and prosciutto appetizer was very tasty and the beet salad was refreshing and healthy. We enjoyed the prosciutto pizza that had a nice truffle scent. The pastas were also excellent - we had the oxtail ravioli and the butternut squash agnolotti. The mixed seafood platter was very good and they added additional shrimp and scallops for us. The branzino and salmon were my favorite. Nice selection of cocktails, beer, and mocktails. The dessert menu has a nice variety. We got the zabaglione with berries and the chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream to end the night. Def a nice place for large groups to get dinner and drinks.

I've been here a couple times prior. We ordered a pizza for an appetizer to share in addition to our individual entrées of the spaghetti del trabocco, the lasagna, and the ravioli con coda. The pizza with the Italian sausage had a lightly spicy kick and the thin crust was perfectly crispy. The pizza was great. It was salty and savory without being overly heavy. All of our pasta entrées were delicious too. Good flavor and filling without leaving you feeling too stuffed. We had leftovers too. My favorite was the tiramisu that we shared. It was moist and lightly sweet and it helped end the meal on a great note! The restaurant can be a little loud if they're busy, but otherwise it has a great ambiance. Great place to stop by in Alameda-even Alysa Liu loves this place!

Review is for the London Bus Burger, Louie Louie (soft-shelled crab) and onion rings! The Bureau 510 gets their burgers right: lightly seasoned, not overly handled so you can feel the wonderful texture along with some major juiciness. Also a big plus is their meat-to-bun ratio so you get a nice bite of burger with the sturdy yet soft bun. The Louie Louie looked amazing. My 2 friends ordered that and devoured. It was lightly battered, not greasy and a nice size. Onion rings were house-made and equally light with a beer batter. Delicious! Staff very welcoming, friendly and checked on us a couple of times. Menu has plenty of options to choose from. The Bureau 510 did a great job (has me craving more!) this visit so will definitely return to try items like the fish and chips, clam chowder and Chef Specials. After that I ordered a classic margarita which was super good and came with a black salt rim and dehydrated lime. The margarita was super tasty and both drinks were made right away! For food, I ordered the chips and salsa and guac. The guac was very good, it tasted fresh and was a good size portion. The salsa was really good, it was chipotle tasting but had a lime tanginess to it that was unique and refreshing. They were generous with the portion of chips and the chips were thick and crispy and seasoned well with just a little bit of salt. I also ordered the impossible taquitos which came with guac, sour cream, and salsa on top. The presentation was beautiful and the food came out fast but the taste was a bit weird, it wasn't bad but it just tasted like burger meat in a taquito. I really appreciate that they offered a meat alternative but wish it tasted better, like maybe use potatoes instead of fake meat, or use fake chorizo over a burger seasoning. It would also be nice if there was a vegan version not just a vegetarian version. Despite my critiques of the food, I have no critiques for the service and atmosphere! My server was phenomenal and attentive and checked in often! I had a great experience and look forward to coming back but would definitely be more eager to come back if they updated with more vegan options!
