It's a great place to eat. Very good food and service I would recommend eating there

After scouring the bay for a seafood boil I hadn't been to before, I picked out this place based on the viet tag and relatively high rating. My partner and I really love seafood boil, and we both came up in cali where viet seafood boil was the ultimate satisfaction for a seafood craving. Coming here, it was really disappointing-- not that we had high expectations, we really wanted to like it and gave it an honest try. The #1 combo with 1lb respectively of crawfish, shrimp, + mussels + potato + corn and bread looked to be the best value and a bit of a classic choice, and we decided on the crazy sauce, hot spicy level. The sauce was spicy, sure, but it was runny(not in a good way), lacking in distinguishable flavor, oily, and didn't seem to want to stay/embed itself in the seafood at all. The crawfish had the essence of having been obviously frozen, the shrimp was mostly fine but small comparatively, and the mussels genuinely made me a bit concerned for my health. Beyond half of them being false and having no mussel in them, the rest appeared as if they had died and were cooked dead. Some tasted as such too. Strange, almost repulsive aftertaste. Then, they really gave us a singular potato. The corn (also singular) I had recognized as a frozen variety which I had once as a child. The kind with crazy gummy type texture. The bread was obviously just the banh mi bread(the restaurant also serves pho and probably is the primary appeal), which isn't a bad thing, it just felt lazy and perhaps is reflective of the attitude towards the preparation of the food. I really don't like writing negative reviews, and honestly the service we received was very attentive and kind, but I felt compelled to write this because it is a bit of an insult to seafood boil and a sure disappointment to anyone who enjoys it. Still my daughter's favorite Cajun restaurant. Quality/Quantity - Today we got the following: Cajun Wings - 10 pieces. Love me some deep fried wings! Glad we got the larger order. I think I ate most of the wings. Fried perfectly and each wing was of good size. Combo #1 - Crawfish, mussels, and shrimp (head off for $2 extra) with mild Cajun sauce. We also added 1 extra corn. Garlic Noodles - Regular size. How can you NOT like butter and garlic! We should have ordered a large...? But actually it was more than enough. Crawfish Fried Rice - This was actually better than expected and of generous size. Atmosphere - This was a brother/sister shared location. But now it seems like it is one business...? The sister owns the Bucket of Crawfish and the brother owns Pho Anh Dao. But today they seated all of us on the Pho side. Fairly large space. Still very few customers here even for a Saturday when we visit, so good for us. In the past, it was hard to find parking, but it is not a problem now. Plenty of street parking and I think they share a private lot with the motel next door...? Open 6 days a week, from noon until 9pm; closed Mondays. Service - Good/excellent; 5 stars as usual. We also like supporting the locals and family run businesses. We have supported this business since the "shooting." Optional bibs. This is a finger food type restaurant. Price - $99 + tip. She also so busy she messed my order up even after me repeating the 3 same things . As a crawfish enthusiast--this was one of the most disappointing seafood boil places I've been to. Even though it's crawfish season, their crawfish was FROZEN (which is usually okay when it's off season)--but such an upsetting discovery. But after my first bite, it was immediately a noticeable difference from live ones. Not much flavor with each crawfish especially since each one wasn't that juicy plump bite you expect, and it was more of a spice and oil taste than a flavorful seafood boil sauce you'd expect. My friend got the shrimp and it was also over cooked. The only thing bringing up my review ranking is because it happened to dual as a Vietnamese restaurant which had delicious spring rolls and egg rolls we tried as an appetizer. I wish I took a photo of those bc they were actually very yum and came with the perfect peanut sauce. Also, our waiter was really attentive of us I think bc we sat near the register but nevertheless, very vigilant with making sure we had everything we needed. So If you're craving crawfish don't come here or maybe call ahead to see if they ever have live ones that day. I'm still surprised how good it was and the service was awesome as well. We were in the Alameda area and didn't know the restaurants around us. I've been craving crab so I pulled up Yelp and searched crab. This place came up. We drove to this spot and it was connected with a Inn. My boyfriend asked if I was sure I wanted to try this place out and I said why not. I am becoming more adventurous especially with random hole in the walls. Parking did seem sketch in the back but it was fine. Walking in, it was two restaurants in one. The right side was pho and the other was Bucket O' Crawfish. The workers on both sides greeted us. The price was reasonable and we had drinks as well. The flavor for the food was really good. The garlic noodles was made with chow neon noodles. It was still good. Not too garlicky but tasty. We got Combo #4 with all the mix and medium spice (we could have had it spicier - medium was not spicy) which they did not skimp out on. I was with two guys and me but I may be petite but I get down when it comes to food and drinks. The portion was decent and filled us up. We were still able to get dessert as well. I got the mango cheesecake which was light and did taste like mango. Oh we got complimentary bread rolls and it was was perfect with our meal. I asked for butter and I got melted butter. My highlight because I love bread and butter, so good! Lastly, the music was early 2000's like Chris Brown. I would come back again. The drive would be worth it. I've been to the sister Vietnamese restaurant many times, but it was the first time for the Cajun side of things. They sat us down in the Vietnamese restaurant so it was all very familiar. I really love coming back for more crazy mix crazy hot sauce . I always come in with my sister Nelly and we love getting g each a combo number 3 which has both shrimp and snow crab and a sweet corn and a soft French roll. You can choose your sauce. Choice are garlic butter, lemon pepper Cajun or crazy mix which is all the above. Then you choose your spice level mild, medium, hot or Crazy Hot. I recommend crazymix hot but if I'm feeling extra spicy I'll go with crazy mix crazyhot. Also shrimp fried rice is delishious and the hot wings are a must. It comes with a jalapeños sauce that is amazingly good. I also love ordering spring rolls from the zpho spot next door. Shout out to Andrew he's such a friendly server and answers any questions you may have. I love the ambiance it's a nice relaxed vibe with great music and very spacious. I really had a taste for some Dungeness tonight, in this climate, I really want to support small businesses and see local businesses win. I just don't know what was more disappointing, the fact that this restaurant audaciously charged $50 for crab that was definitely frozen, or that they put a $50 entrée on the menu that wasn't $50 quality. So disappointing so absolutely unnecessary. I could've gone to Costco purchase 2 1/2 crab at the same price point guaranteed it would've been fresh. It's no wonder why a space that large was empty. I'm a good tipper regardless just because I work in the food industry and know how it is but to mislead customers out of their money just for your personal financial gain is the most unethical thing I have seen in a very long time. It's our first time coming to Bucket O'Crawfish, as we always go to Hang Ten Boiler. We got their calamari and their Combo #4. It was a lot of food, and so worth it. The person who took our order was very helpful as we couldn't decided and was wondering about the market prices for the seafood items that they had. Once we were ready she took our order and told us our wait time. Once our order was ready, we were excited to get home to eat! We were both starving so we had snacked on the calamari as we were making garlic noodles to go with our seafood. The combo we got was more than enough! You get a little of everything besides the king crab legs, but my goodness it was delicious! We added the alligator sausage and it wasn't that bad. We would definitely be back next time for the king crab legs! The medium spice had some kick to it. I'll keep it short and sweet. Went for dinner with my brother and his family. Some of us ordered from the crawfish restaurant, some from the Japanese restaurant. The two in one place interesting. My teriyaki plate was meh. Skimpy on the chicken and it was kinda cold. I can't speak on the rest of the food, but my two young nephews ate crawfish and ended up getting food poisoning. We actually went to rockin crawfish last night but it was busy and closing in an hour . So we decided to go to Bucket O' Crawfish . They have their own lot to park in ( shared with a hotel tho I believe ) . When you walk in there's PLENTY of seating . Real spacious restaurant. They also have a full service bar all lit up with TVs for your entertainment . I was surprised to see it was so empty , again a regular at rockin crawfish ... it's always packed over there !! So I was expecting similar crowdedness but nope ! Again it was late maybe that could be why .... Ok so food ! We got oysters and the combo #4 which came with a whole Dungeoness crab , 10 ounce snowcrab , half a pound of shrimp , crawfish , muscles , and clams , two corns , two potatoes and two breads ! It was a pretty good deal for all that including the sides ( rockin crawfish you pay extra per corn , potato ect. ) i was quite satisfied with my food and left with left overs . Oh and they give you an actual bucket for your shells . Cute lol . Flavor of the sauce is good . But NO COMPARISON to rockin crawfish. Would I try this place again ? Yes . Again food was good . Came here with some friends and absolutely loved the food! We got a combo meal, with the garlic butter flavor, and the catfish basket. Loved each and every bite! The staff was great. I visited this spot with some friends because we wanted to try something new. Did not sample the crawfish and perhaps that was a mistake. Deep fried fish of many sorts with some sides. The fried food had heavy breading and was ok if you want a decadent fried experience, but sides were not good (bland lukewarm boiled potato, waterlogged corn on the cob). For a Cajun themed spot the flavors were very mild, frequent comments at our table about things needing more spice and heat. The space is also home to a Pho shop which smelled delicious, wish they offered the option to order from both menus (you have to choose when you enter and get seated). Flavor is decent and portions are generous, but Happy Hour is a steal, so there's a slight bump for that! I came by on the way home from work and was happy to find out they have happy hour before 6 PM on Tuesday through Friday. Happy hour includes deals like $2 Cajun fries, $4 calamari, $3 salad, $3 chicken wings, $5 shrimp/fish and fries, and most importantly, $10 seafood combo (with your choice of shrimp, shrimp and clams, or shrimp and mussels) with bread. I happily went with a $10 shrimp only combo with all the sauces, and added a corn for $0.75. In addition I had to try their half dozen oysters, too. The sauce is not the buttery spice mixture i am used to from Boiling Crab and Kickin' Crab but it's not bad either. It hits the spot when you're craving that kind of thing. The soft bread loaf/roll was a great complement to the salty sauce. The shrimp are decent sized, they give you about 15 shrimp, and the sauce portion is plenty. As a landlocked midwesterner who loves cajun and creole flavors, the myriad "bag o' spicy seafood boil" restaurants cropping up all over the US are heaven to me! It's now the first food genre I look for when I get to a new location. Bucket O' Crawfish is located in the same building as a Pho restaurant and you will smell the seasonings of both venues as you walk in. I highly recommend you leave your jacket in the car or be prepare to wash your clothes upon returning home, for the flavors will quickly be absorbed. Bucket O' Crawfish provides multiple tables covered with butcher paper (traditional for this type of eatery). The menu not only boasts the typical seafood boil options, but also has a variety of fried appetizers (fries, wings, oysters, etc.). Having visited several establishments similar to this, I went with Combo #2 + crab with "crazy mix" at "hot" level + alligator sausage. If you've been to other cajun seafood boil establishments like I have and typically choose their hot heat level, you may wanna dial it down to medium at B-O'-C. "Hot" is NOT messing around. At first I found myself A) starting to tear up a bit between bites and B) wondering if I should be asking for gloves because I didn't think I'd be able to take my contacts out later that night. Thankfully my palate adjusted and a bit of lotion helped to temper the capsaicin prior to removing my corrective lenses that evening. I thoroughly enjoyed Bucket O' Crawfish and will definitely return when I'm back in the area! More than likely, however, I will try to follow Yelper Tu-Quyen's advice and get there before 6 PM for happy hour specials. We were greeted directly and given a table sanitized and with the large paper on the table. I was introduced by combining sauces in a variety of ways. My favourite is salt, pepper, and lemon/lime juice. the process is simple by choosing your protein, sauce, and level of spiciness. The prices are good and some items are sold by the pound and market price. Everything is very flavourful with good portions. I enjoyed coming here with my family. Happy hour makes it worth it! My bf loves coming here for the fried food especially the calamari with their housemade jalapeño mayo.. sooo good!! Only $4 Cajun fries are only $2. We also get the seafood basket for $10 mix of shrimp and clams. The sauce is pretty good, I'd give it a 3.5. But sometimes it is a hit or miss. We've come when they brought us lukewarm shrimp and others when it was piping hot. Shrimps are a decent size and most of the time passes my freshness test (shells not sticking to meat and no dark spots) My gripe with this spot is the "pound" of seafood you get is probably a pound after the sauce.. seems smaller than other Cajun boil spots. If I'm paying for a pound of seafood, that's what I should get! Other thing is that service is definitely spotty especially if you're seated in the back. Dunno what happened to all the servers but more than half the time we come it's just the owner and she doesn't really check up on you. Limes upon request. This was our first and last time at this establishment. The food was mediocre first of all. The only real reason that we ended up here, is because Backyard Bayou is closed. The woman that was at the counter was kinda rude. But the gentleman that came out to help us was ok. I ordered the crawfish rice. That rice tasted like it was boiled to long. No real flavor. They don't even give you a nice amount of fish for what they are charging. Though the fish was way more flavorful. The sweet potato fries weren't that great and they gave me ketchup for them. We tried this place on the recommendation of a friend. They liked the bucket menu option, but we just weren't in the mood for that, so we decided to go simple. Parking was a bit sketchy - behind the building near a motel, so we decided to park on the street where we could see our car from the restaurant window. It is a building that houses, both the bucket of crawfish and a Pho restaurant... That was a little confusing . It was very clean and bright inside. The staff was friendly and seated us near the window. We ordered the catfish basket and fried chicken wings. The catfish were small nuggets fried perfectly and tasted fresh. The fries had just the right amount of Cajun seasoning. The chicken wings were yummy and came with a jalapeño dipping sauce that I would use on anything, it was so zesty! It was a nice outing. My review a month ago was 4 stars but after today's Happy Hour (Tues-Fri, 2-6 pm), I have to give them 5 stars for value and quality. My neighbor Ash and I walked to Bucket o'Crawfish to try it out after seeing the HH sandwich board outside. I really wanted their $10 shrimp and clams (or you can choose shrimp and mussels) since I like their shrimp and normally order a pound in mild crazy mix sauce. I figured I'd also order a side of $2 HH cajun fries since I didn't expect there to be much shrimp and clams. Boy, was I wrong. The Cajun fries came first and came with a sauce that may have been a mix of ketchup and mayo. The fries were hot and perfectly seasoned; not too salty. The biggest though was the shrimp and clams! There were at least 8 shrimp and half a dozen clams. I was also given a small loaf of soft bread to dip in the sauce. I could've done without the fries! Ash got the $5 fish and fries. The fries were also Cajun fries so Ash was happy. The fish is catfish and appeared very juicy. Ash said it didn't really have that fishy taste which is good. I'll probably try it eventually. We were saying how much of a better value this is than going across the street and having fast food. Though I still wish their corn in my pound of shrimp wasn't frozen, this HH experience still notched the stars up to 5. And yes, I'll be back next week! read more

We went to Hog Island Oyster first, but the wait was going to take a good while. Thus, we decided to just catch the ferry back to Alameda and head over to Bucket O' Crawfish for the oysters. Bucket O' Crawfish shares restaurant space with Pho Anh Dao. Pho is located to the right of the entrance while Bucket is straight ahead. We arrived and noticed there was no line of people. We were seated immediately by the host. Waitress was attentive and pleasant. Husband ordered the one dozen oysters on half shells. I had the 1/2 dozen deep fried oysters and a small plate of garlic noodles. At first, he said the hot sauce that came with the oysters was not fire hot, but sweet. The sauce had a subtle hint of spiciness and it was quite a tasty accompaniment with my deep fried oysters. The garlic noodles were on point and I would not mind going back to have that dish again. Then I noticed all the items they serve on the menu, especially the combos. The prices on their happy hour menu seem reasonable. Most definitely we will return to try other items on the menu. Minor drawback: I wish the plastic fork was more durable than the flimsy one they gave me for the garlic noodles. I am visiting my sister who lives around the corner from Bucket O' Crawfish from So. Cali. My sister has been waiting for this place to open for a long time b/c she is craving some cajun seafood. Her past Cajun Seafood experience like mine is Boiling Crab and Kickin' Crab. The restaurant is actually part of a Pho Restaurant and in front of a hotel/motel. So when you walk in it is very spacious. It would be great for large parties. The menu is very straight forward. They have a variety of seafood for the cajun boil: Crawfish, Shrimp, Clams, Mussels, King/Snow/Blue Crab. Next, you pick your sauce: Cajun/ Garlic Butter/ Lemon Pepper or Crazy Mix (All 3 Flavors). Last: Pick your level of spicy. You can also have add ons such as corn, potatoes, and alligator sausage. Also on the menu, there is fried shrimp, catfish, calamari or wings. So what did we order? 2lb Shrimp Crazy Mix Mild and 2 lbs Shrimp Crazy Mix Medium + Corn+ Alligator Sausage - I have to say the shrimp was cooked really well. Keep in mind, all the shrimp is with heads. (If you are looking for headless shrimp, this is not your place.) The sauce, it tastes pretty good but they could improve it such as make the sauce more concentrated and more crushed garlic pieces. I have to say the alligator sausage was okay because I wasn't used to the texture. It seemed a bit soft and soggy. I wished they offered regular hot sausage links instead. Fried Catfish Basket w/ Cajun Fries - The fried catfish were catfish nuggets instead of fillets. I did enjoy the catfish nuggets pieces. It was served with cajun fries and their fry sauce and tartar sauce. Not all the pieces were crispy according to my sister but I enjoyed it. Cajun Fries - The fries were medium cut and seasoned just right. It was also served with fry sauce. Garlic Noodles - The garlic noodles tasted buttery and garlicky. It tasted good but the garlic pieces were a lil too toasty. They could improve it by larger garlic pieces, not too toasty garlic and definitely it needs to be served on a plate and not on that paper tray. Service: 100% Awesome! Uncle and I came here to the Bucket O' Crawfish side of the restaurant. This place houses 2 separate menus...you walk to the right, its Pho Ahn Dao vietnamese and to the left which is only open for dinner is Cajun/Creole/asian fusion. I'm a newbie to crawfish and seafood boils so this was something different. Ordered the #2 Combo which had shrimp and crawfish with corn-on-the-cob (thumbs down that it tasted like frozen corn) and a potato. it was recommended we get the garlic butter and creole seasoning which was a great suggestion as it had great flavor, heat and lots of garlic. Yum! Also, ordered the deep-fried catfish and french fry basket ...i was a little hesitant at first as Im not a fan of catfish (eeww...dirty bottom feeders!). Surprisingly, they were good and almost tasted like cod sprinkled with cajun spices Our experience with crawfish was of course messy, and had to ask the waiter how to eat them because those shows on tv sure make it look like fun....anyways, we wondered...'do you just rip the head off, slurp their brains out and voila?' Our waiter came out with a pair of gloves and showed us to eat the tail part, then rip off the head and just suck away....and if you really wanted to get into it, you can break its little legs and suck there too...the crawfish that is! he was so patient and didn't judge us on our lack of sucking skills. Props to him! Overall, good food...pricey but in range with seafood boils and the lady who came to our table (I'll assume the owner) was really nice and hospitable like it was her own home. Just ordered 2lbs shrimps in mild spicy Cajun and lemon pepper sauce. Horrible!!!! The shrimps are not bouncy at all, chewy, sauce is super salty. It just tasted frozen. Sorry to say will not recommend to anyone nor coming back anymore. Threw half of my dinner away .... read more

I came with a friend and we ordered the Combo #3 with garlic butter and lemon pepper sauce and shared it. The seafood itself was good but the sauce wasn't that great. I think I need to try another sauce? We also got alligator sausages and a small order of garlic noodles. I loved the garlic noodles but didn't like the alligator sausages. The sausages basically tasted like it was doused in spiced beer...ick... The servers were all very nice and attentive. They have a handwash station and lots of big screen TVs to watch sports game! read more
