Very disappointing visit to pier 290. Luckily, the atmosphere and the company we were with was top notch....other than that though I'd have to give it a thumbs down. Unfortunately, the service and the meal were mediocre at best . Our server was likable but did not have a clue about attentiveness. Our drinks were empty several times and I had to flag her down from chatting with staff for refills . I ordered the garlic shrimp- it was bland. One of our friend's described it as a microwave dinner and that's probably a generous description. Two of the children ordered the filet served with vegetables to share. The filet was good but the vegetables were scary ( see photo of carrots.) We were also charged $5.00 on top on the $42.00 for them to split the filet. We would have been happy to cut the filet in half for the kids. I ordered a Moscow mule to drink and it was served in a plastic cup. C'mon where's my copper mug!?!We had a group of 9 people (4 adults and 5 kids) and the bill after tip was $600.00- but the reality is, I would go back because I enjoy the location so much. We love Pier 290 and visit often. We had lunch and unfortunately had a very burnt chicken sandwich which was not handled well with server. Seating under canopy was perfect for a rainy night. They have bonfire tables on the beach, we would've hung out with some drinks if it weren't for the weather. I was with a small group of bikers on Sunday and we were treated like 2nd hand citizens. It was a beautiful day to ride and we rode and hour to get there because of the reviews on yelp. The person who met us at the door was talking to me like I didn't belong there. The server seams liked we were waisting their time....The dog food we waited forever for was overpriced. When we told him we didn't drink and would have a non-alcoholic beer, he brought us those and made a mocktail to try! Delish! I came to Pier 290 with my family for dinner while visiting Lake Geneva for the weekend. Pier 290 was recommended by a friend so we decided to give it a try. Some positive things about the restaurant is the place is in a great location, the staff is friendly, and some of the dishes are great. Some of the good entrees that we ordered is the salmon, steak stack and prawns. However, some aspects of the restaurant did not meet my expectations. First, some of the dishes were very small compared to the prices that they were charging. We got the $17 crab cake appetizer, but it only came with one small crab cake. The Caesar salad with chicken was flavorful, but there was only a couple small pieces of chicken on it. Overall the food was nothing to be excited about especially when taking into account the prices. Lastly, the staff was very inattentive, but they were friendly. No one cleared/cleaned our table at anypoint during the evening. Our appetizer and entree dishes were on our table the whole time until our dessert arrived;moreover, our waitress did not come to our table often which made it difficult to order. Looking for a place to eat with a large group (10 people). Most places were booked but we were able to get in here. Nice nautical atmosphere. We sat in the bar area. Good selection of beers on tap. I had the burger and fries which was very good. The fries were crispy and not just something thrown in a microwave. Burger was nice and juicy. A little pricey so be prepared. I have dined at Pier 290 before (August 2020 - Pandemic Times) and have recommended it to anyone asking for Lake Geneva dinner options. It is in Williams Bay, just a 15-minute drive from Downtown Lake Geneva. Parking can seem a bit tricky, but they offer free valet, so take advantage of that. There are often events on the weekends in the summer months, so the convenience of valet is appreciated. I made a reservation about one week in advance because I knew this would be a popular dining option on a Friday night. We had the option to sit outside which was perfect. Right on the water with a view of the Harvest Moon - it really couldn't get any better! I could tell the waitstaff was short-staffed, and they were very busy on the Friday night we visited; however, this did not affect our dining experience. As former waitresses in our group of three, we were in no hurry and appreciated the effort of our friendly waiter. Entrees at our table included Salmon, Ribs and Steak. All very tastefully done dishes cooked as requested. The serving sizes can easily be shared or split. In fact, the portion size for the ribs was so immense it didn't look like the dish had been touched when it was taken from the table. The pace of our meal allowed for us to see the rising of the Harvest Moon. Quite a spectacle from where we were seated right on the Lake. Cost per person is right around $60 including beverage and tip. I do believe Pier 290 also offers brunch on weekends as well as lunch. Overall, I am very happy with my second dining experience at Pier 290, and I will continue to recommend it to future travelers. read more

The outdoor seating area is BEAUTIFUL and I want to love this place, however, the food quality and quantity is not worth the exorbitant prices. We went here for dinner on the 4th. We sat outside and had a lovely view of the lake. The ambiance was great, the service was good but the food and the price of it were not. The ceviche appetizer was disappointing. The ceviche itself was not quite right and the chips were stale and crumbly. The flatbread pizza was underwhelming even in its expected simplicity. The seared tuna salad was best of the show but too simple for a salad costing over $20. Overall, we don't consider the ambiance worthy of a return visit. read more

I had the worst experience at this place. I just had an anxiety attack thanks to the stress that the manager put me through. They kicked me out of the restaurant after they let me in with my psychiatrist support animal. After they accommodate me the manager came and kicked me out claiming that they don't allow psychiatric service animals. First time in my whole time having a service animal that I've been treated that way. She claimed totally false statements in order to kick me out. This is my go to restaurant in Lake Geneva for special occasions. We were there on 8/12/2019. 1. Thanks for getting our table outside as we had requested. It took a good 1/2 hour but we got it. 2. It took a while for the waitress to even introduce herself. That should of been our clue as to how the night would be. 3. First round of drinks took a good 20 minutes. 4. Put our appetizer order in. We ordered like 5. After about a good 1/2 hour no appetizers still, even she kept saying they were coming. 5. Dinner comes. Hmmmm kind of reverse order in my world. Within two minutes. Here come the appetizers. The waitress was so excited to bring them. ?? We were like um no thank you now. She was shocked. What should we scarf everything down at the same time? The location of this place is amazing! It is right on the water and they have different options for seating. You can either sit inside or sit outside. It was very cool! As far as food, they do offer a large brunch menu along with a lot of different options on their regular menu. The food was delicious and filling. I got the Grilled Chicken Sandwhich and would highly recommend! It does has a little bit of a spicy sauce to it but it is good! For the wait staff, our waitress was super friendly and nice. I know the place was busy but with all the wait staff they had at the place, you would think service would be faster but I am not going to be picky. The only thing is, we were there for a bachelorette party and they offered the soon to be bride a dessert but she never did get it. But if you are in the area, I would check them out! read more

Location / Atmosphere - Excellent location right on the bay. We were here in the Winter and things were 'snow covered'. Saw that they have an out-door patio and am guessing that they have out-door seating / service in the summer. A very nice restaurant and bar area with fire-places all around. Gave it very nice 'sky lodge' feel. Food / Beverage - Very nice menu and everything sounds excellent. Hats off to the chef and kitchen staff. We started with the Chips & Dip. Nice combination of 'home-made' chips with a 'not to Smokey' onion dip. I had the Apple Cider Chicken Tenderloin which was delicious. The combination of pan roasted fruits and vegetables were a perfect match with the Chicken. Thought that I saw some mushrooms that I didn't think were on the menu. My wife had the Salmon Angel Hair pasta dish that was excellent. A health 8oz salmon filet which was perfectly cooked. And for desert we split the Carrot Cake which was wonderful. Service - Very pleasant and attentive service. Our server did a great job checking in on us several times throughout the evening. We had an early dinner and the room wasn't very full when we arrived but things picked-up by the time that we left. In summary - A very nice and cozy place that also has a nice bar area. They were very accommodating as we were a walk-in on Valentine's day week-end. I recommend visiting the when in the area. Horrible experience! We went here on a busy Labor Day Sunday. After being told that they were not taking walk-ins, we found our way outside to sit at the bar. It was filthy! Total chaos. We waited about 15 minutes for poorly made drinks served in small plastic cups ($15/piece). Are you joking? We moved inside to sit at a high top and received no service. We ended up leaving and will not be going back. I understand it is a busy holiday, but find sufficient waitstaff who can keep up with the work. read more
