Love Owl Tavern! I always try and stop in when I am in the Lake Geneva area. Located on the south side of the lake it is a fantastic off the beating path location. First time .... Received chicken tenders that were raw on the inside. Things happen so decided to give them a second try. It was my wife and 3 boys. One of my boy's made a "roar" noise. The woman behind the bar came out and asked us to be quiet. It a loud bar, she decides to come out and tell us to use our indoor voices. Awesome dive bar!!! Love all the decorations on the walls! Pretty big place and lots of space around the bar! Amy was amazing and engaging behind the bar and made it a time to remember!!! We had the brisket Mac n cheese and the Buffalo chicken bites and both were great! Also the chili! Their hoodies and winter beanies are adorable and have both the bar name and then "Lake Geneva" on them! The Bloody Mary's have great flavor and the blue cheese chunks add to it more than I realized! First time actually eating here. We tried getting in last year around 5:00 on a Friday but the place was packed, so ended up going somewhere else. We won't make that mistake again. You need to get here early on a Friday. This time we got there about 4:15. The place was still busy, but we were able to grab a table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place has an "up north" vibe. Packed with locals, who all seemed to know each other. But we still didn't feel out of place (especially since we're also locals, even though we were Owl virgins.)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Funky ordering system where all orders have to be placed with the bartender. In this case the bartender was Amanda, who aside from knowing everyone in the place, did a great job of handling everything on her own. She definitely didn't treat us like strangers...we felt right at home. The fish fry was probably the second best I've had in the area. I won't tell you the best because I don't want everyone going there. (HINT: It's not in Lake Geneva). The only thing that could be improved was the cole slaw. While not bad, it's more of a broccoli slaw. But the quality of the fish definitely made up for it. We will definitely be returning. read more

Stopped here while on a short trip day trip to Lake Geneva. My friend and I stopped for a drink. The place is very cute and has lots of character. The staff however.... Won't be going back. We had one drink and we asked the bar tender for one more. She heard us ver clearly but we were ignored. Her regulars came in and she ignored us. It is simply a tavern with a wide variety of drinks, some bar food, seating around the bar, several tables, a dart board, and a pool table - what you'd expect from a rural Wisconsin bar. This was a stop on a Lake Geneva bike tour and I wanted to come back and check out their food. The bartender made us feel very welcome and took our orders. We ordered fried curds as an appetizer and I got the pulled pork. The pork was perfectly smoked and came with cole slaw and beans. The beans were flavorful and a welcome addition. The cole slaw was just ok. It's decorated with Wisconsin and Illinois sport team items. The Cubs items freaked me out but I carried on. I guess they do that for all the out of state visitors that Lake Geneva attracts. The menu wasn't very large but this is a nice stop on a day trip to the area. read more

What a treat this little gem was! It's a little dive country bar, only has table space for about 20) that is super friendly, they call you by your name or "Hi buttercups" as we came in LOL. Great brisket​ sandwiches, smoked mac and cheese, ​and their siracha chicken bites were delicious. Kelsey and Marissa were so welcoming! Robin, the owner, was very kind and helpful when I called her about catering our dinner. Then we decided to go in instead. She made a point of coming up to our table to chat before she went home.
