OMG!! Chef RC killing it in the kitchen. Homemade and fresh! Please bottle the ranch and tarter. Huge walleye! Awesome potato pancake. Pretzel roll is a welcome twist on traditional rye. Get there early or they might sell out. Walleye was out by 7pm. Curds...that pull and that ranch. Might be the best in the area. Both bartenders took great care of us as well! Parking can be a challenge. But remember to respect the homeowners and don't park in front of their driveways or garages. read more

Local flair, and one of those places that seems to remain true to its local neighborhood spirit. You won't find this place unless someone tells you about it. It's definitely off the beaten path. Most locals in and around the area frequent this place. We are blessed we live close by. Smoked meats , brisket, wings, and deep friend goodness is typical fare. Bartender was extremely rude. First time coming back in awhile as I remembered a local vibe with a great place to play pool. Well the pool table has been replaced by slot machines (not a fan) and the friendly bartender I remembered is no longer there. This lady was rude,annoyed with drink orders and more concerned with a group of college kids drinking having fun than anyone else. I get you love your locals but maybe move to a different city if you don't want to serve those on vacation. Sorry I cheated on Chucks as they always serve drinks with a smile and service is spot on. We left after one round of drinks and didn't order food at the Owl. Good luck staying in business with the locals and your slot machines. read more

Love Owl Tavern! I always try and stop in when I am in the Lake Geneva area. Located on the south side of the lake it is a fantastic off the beating path location. With a very Northwoods feel you walk in and are transported back to the last time you traveled to the woods of Northern Wisconsin. With a pool table, dart boards, board games, pull tabs and a few televisions you instantly feel right at home! The staff have always been amazing and so fun to socialize with. Food is always decent and I have never had anything that I would complain about. As long as I go to this area this will always be on my list of places to drop in for a few beers and a Shake A Day!!! read more

First time .... Received chicken tenders that were raw on the inside. Things happen so decided to give them a second try. It was my wife and 3 boys. One of my boy's made a "roar" noise. The woman behind the bar came out and asked us to be quiet. It a loud bar, she decides to come out and tell us to use our indoor voices. Won't be going back bc the service and her attitude are not worth the hoot. read more

Awesome dive bar!!! Love all the decorations on the walls! Pretty big place and lots of space around the bar! Amy was amazing and engaging behind the bar and made it a time to remember!!! We had the brisket Mac n cheese and the Buffalo chicken bites and both were great! Also the chili! Their hoodies and winter beanies are adorable and have both the bar name and then "Lake Geneva" on them! The Bloody Mary's have great flavor and the blue cheese chunks add to it more than I realized! Stopped here while on a short trip day trip to Lake Geneva. My friend and I stopped for a drink. The place is very cute and has lots of character. The staff however.... Won't be going back. We had one drink and we asked the bar tender for one more. She heard us ver clearly but we were ignored. Her regulars came in and she ignored us. She wasn't busy as it was a Sunday afternoon and there were only a total of 4 other people there. Bartender left a sour taste in our mouth. Very disappointing. read more

First time actually eating here. We tried getting in last year around 5:00 on a Friday but the place was packed, so ended up going somewhere else. We won't make that mistake again. You need to get here early on a Friday. This time we got there about 4:15. The place was still busy, but we were able to grab a table. The place has an "up north" vibe. Packed with locals, who all seemed to know each other. But we still didn't feel out of place (especially since we're also locals, even though we were Owl virgins.) Funky ordering system where all orders have to be placed with the bartender. In this case the bartender was Amanda, who aside from knowing everyone in the place, did a great job of handling everything on her own. She definitely didn't treat us like strangers...we felt right at home. The fish fry was probably the second best I've had in the area. I won't tell you the best because I don't want everyone going there. (HINT: It's not in Lake Geneva). The only thing that could be improved was the cole slaw. While not bad, it's more of a broccoli slaw. But the quality of the fish definitely made up for it. We will definitely be returning. read more

For the price, this is a top notch place. It is simply a tavern with a wide variety of drinks, some bar food, seating around the bar, several tables, a dart board, and a pool table - what you'd expect from a rural Wisconsin bar. Service is great; prices are reasonable; great rural character just minutes from the more upscale Lake Geneva places. The quality of the food was really. The pulled pork sandwich with a couple sides for $10 was not a bad deal. Not much parking. read more

Wow! We came here looking for an authentic Wisconsin experience and our expectations were far exceeded. In town for a wedding and have many fond family memories of Wisconsin dinners and vacations (family up north). This place is a local neighborhood joint, great bar, and excellent food. Amanda the bar tender spins all the tops and handles whatever comes her way. It is small and cozy, 5-6 tables and bar seating. Friday night fish fry was the BEST I've ever experienced. Come here if you're a regular guy or want to pose as one. And bring your wife and friends. You won't be disappointed! read more

A touch of up north. Never been to the Owl and not found friendly staff and customers. Was having a bad day recently and dropped in told the bartender I'll have two IPA's then cut me off. I had two then she asked me how far I was driving, two miles, she brought a third. Total Wisconsin! I love the place read more

This is casual bar that we decided to try for dinner after seeing the great reviews on Yelp. Heading in, we didn't expect much but were surprisingly impressed with the quality of the food. They don't have a huge menu. If you're looking for healthy food, this might not be the place. The beef brisket sandwich with a couple sides for $10 was not a bad deal. Tables are available if you don't want to sit at the bar however you have to place your food and drink orders at the bar. Parking out front is limited and could be challenge. read more

My wife, myself and two good friends were in town for the weekend. Ordered some bloody marys before ordering lunch. They were so good that we had to order another round. Ordered brisket sandwiches, wings and cheese curds. They were great. The brisket was smoked perfectly with a great taste. Service was super friendly for a packed bar on a Saturday afternoon. So glad to have finally got out to the Owl. We will definitely be back on our next trip. read more

This was a stop on a Lake Geneva bike tour and I wanted to come back and check out their food. The bartender made us feel very welcome and took our orders. We ordered fried curds as an appetizer and I got the pulled pork. The pork was perfectly smoked and came with cole slaw and beans. The beans were flavorful and a welcome addition. The cole slaw was just ok. It's decorated with Wisconsin and Illinois sport team items. The Cubs items freaked me out but I carried on. I guess they do that for all the out of state visitors that Lake Geneva attracts. The menu wasn't very large but this is a nice stop on a day trip to the area. read more

The fried perch fish fry was good. The breading is fairly light and crispy. The orders are happily taken at the bar and the chef will bring it to your table fresh from the kitchen. It's the typical old Wisconsin bar. read more

I'm not a ribs person but that's one of their specialty it's really tender and super tasty. They had like a charcoal chicken it was half the chicken this was super tender and it was cooked so well. The new owners, Pat and Heather, have done this place up right. The Owl Tavern is a great local bar, very out of the way. It's a quiet atmosphere with plenty of friendly locals. They've started to serve food with their new kitchen. Pop a few bucks into the jukebox, play a game of pool or darts, or just hang at the bar and have a few drinks. We love this place. read more
