We made the trip from midtown to Staten Island and decided to randomly stop by this gem of a restaurant. We got there at the lunch rush, and luckily got a table quickly. There was quite a wait to get our food, but oh man was it worth the wait! The pizza was tremendous and the Caesar Salad was the best I've ever had. We heard that the owner was making the pizzas that day and we were able to chat with him after the rush. He is such a great guy! He threw in some free Zeppoles for desert. Ugh, I want to like this place, but their service is just awful. The pizza is good, albeit overpriced. If you happen to go in when there's no line, good on you, enjoy. If you go I when there's a line, it's way more worth your time and money to go somewhere else. The people who work the register never know what they're doing, and take their sweet time, no matter how many people are on line. I've easily spent 15 minutes trying to buy slices to go on numerous occasions, and each time there weren't more than 4-5 people waiting. Just pathetic service. I will note that the guy who's in charge of the oven is very efficient, but paying for pizza is the problem. The pizza shop on Stuyvesant Street can process probably 15 payments in the time it takes Pier 76 to take 2 customers. EDIT: I just went in to get two Sicilian slices, and they're now charging $5 per slice. Ordered delivery for the first time in quite a while last night and unfortunately was very disappointed. I was torn between 2 and 3 stars but giving 3 stars for good pizza in the past but this time around was just sad. I ordered the arugula salad (which was good and they filled the container generously) and the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. The shrimp cocktail was sad and definitely seemed like frozen shrimp. Not only that but there were only 7 in the container and a tiny bit of cocktail sauce that was SO sweet - more like just ketchup. Attached a picture for reference but at $14 this just isn't it... Also ordered a grandma pie and a 10 inch vodka pie. Grandma pie crust was thick for a grandma and very doughy. The vodka was over crispy (basically burnt). They also didn't pack plates and only 2 forks for all of that knowing we were in a public place, not a home stocked with plates and cutlery. I'm going 5 stars for my overall experience. I am lucky enough to be in the vicinity of this place weekly for work. I went for the first time today. I never order a salad slice but I ordered the salad slice with calamari, and it was amazing! I've only had paper thin style pizza a few times and I totally get it! My regular slice and my calamari salad slice were super thin and super awesome and crunchy, etc. The Sicilian and spinach artichoke slice were the thickness of a regular at any other other place! Wow what a wonderful place, a truly classic NYC establishment of the old-NY variety. Great pizza in a wonderful setting The place exudes a wonderful spirit of warmth and community the minute you walk in, and the longer you linger here the more the place will endear itself to you. The staff are pro's across the board and a special shout out is surely do to Joey, one of the best and most personable bartenders working in the city today. The love is given out in droves by the staff and given back just as abundantly from he multitude of regulars that's keeping the place full pretty much all the times that it's opened. Pro tip: go during lunch Mon-Thursday and you'll be rewarded with one of the most generous and delicious offerings of lunch specials in the city. Considering its somehow kin of Staten Island stalwart Joe & Pat's, as well as its many familial other offshoots across the city, it should perhaps come as no surprise that this places serves some of the most crave-able, as well as some of the thinest of thin-crust pizza in the city. Just thicker than a cracker yet full of the classic NY crust flavor, its a marvel of construction as well as taste. All varieties I have sampled are delicious, and the place seems to pride itself especially on its vodka sauce topped pies. I would argue however that the specialties of specialty pies most deserving of specific lauding would astonishingly be the buffalo chicken pizza. In general, I do not consider this to be a legitimate type of pizza, however the version here is the delicious exception that proves the rule. As some have previously noted, it thankfully does not include blue cheese, but does manage to achieve a perfect melding of the tangy hot sauce and cheese, as well as crucially being topped by of an even amount of buffalo-soaked chicken that manages to retain its juiciness and avoids the dried out consistency that causes the vast majority of chicken topped pizza to fail. This no doubt is in large part in thanks to the aforementioned insane thinness of the pies, and the comparatively shorter cooking times compared to most pizzerias peddling buffalo chicken topped pies. It's hard to get anything other than pizza when you come here, however delights abound in other sections of the menu as well. Perhaps they have a way with buffalo things on Staten Island because I've noticed over the years that buffalo calamari is very much a thing out in these parts as well, and here is no exception. I'm very happy to report that they have stolen the title here of my all time favorite buffalo calamari from another, much older Staten Island pizza tavern, Lees Tavern. Contrary to what some other haters on here have to say I've consistently had the squid fried to perfection, soaked in the perfect ratio of sauce. Penne vodka is very solid, burgers as well, and all items mentioned, including bar pie-sized pizzas are 8 or 10 dollars a piece on that insanely bountiful and glorious lunch menu. The bar is the spot to be here in my opinion, whether you're indulging in that lunch menu, or simply idling over with a slice purchased up front. You'll surely be rewarded with top notch service, and more likely than not some classic old school NY conversation with some real characters (you may want to tread lightly on the political talk however, remember you are in Staten Island now..) Just be careful or you may be forced to down a shot or two on the house. The taps usually feature a few beers from the nearby Flagship Brewery, of which one of them a cloudy Swamp Thing IPA, I found to be quite tasty indeed. Man I really love this place, and now relish the occasion to head out the the forgotten borough to grab a bite here. While it may be many decades younger than the other Staten Island stalwarts like Deninos, the place has soul and character well beyond its years. If you happen to be reading this and are one of the multitude of (mostly international it seems) tourists who wisely take in the glorious and free Staten Island Ferry ride, but generally turn right back around at the terminal, I strongly suggest you buck that trend and take the stroll right over here, and get a real NYC experience that you'll likely not forget. read more

Honestly it's been years since I've had pier and I should have went with my gut and not have ordered anything. Counter girls are not knowable about the menu and are rude. Ordered a hero and charged for cheese that is supposed to be included on the menu. The girl told me it was an old menu and the cook chimed in saying they can change the menu at any time. Well since the menu is not actually changed in person or online, I shouldn't have been charged for it. Then we asked for extra sauce and was given an attitude about it so said nevermind. It ended up being ok because we did get extra sauce on the side after all. This is absolutely my last time ordering from this place. read more

Normally I'd give Pier 76 a 2-3 star review. It's an okay neighborhood place that serves hearty but rather flavorless Italian food. I have to subtract a couple of stars, though, for the wild experience I just had there. For whatever reason, their pizza chef was disgruntled today. How disgruntled? He went on a 90-minute, expletive-laden rant about how much he resented being there. He also kept banging together his cooking stuff, so the whole place was filled with metallic ringing and cursing sounds. My favorite part was when he called the customers bleep-holes and hippos, and told us to go home and eat hot dogs because it's Labor Day weekend. I just can't believe the rest of the staff allowed him to continue ranting for over an hour - yes, really! - and did nothing to stop him. It was downright creepy and I've never had a more unpleasant experience in a restaurant. I know everyone has bad days, but this was so extreme it was mortifying. No way is this place good enough to justify that kind of thing. I'll pass in future. read more

Delicious food! Great service! Something for everyone. Fiocci and pear pasta was an amazing blend of sweetness and tangy cheeses. Different and so delicious. Two of us got calzones and they were also very delicious. Avocado hamburger very yum! Ravioli was super yum! Fettucci Alfredo - very tasty (but not her favorite she's ever had). My family and I went to this pizzeria to dine in (sat outside) on Labor Day Sep 2, 2024. My mother in law decided to get a pie after seeing the sign outside special, so we went inside to place an order. The cashier girl (teenager inside) did not seem friendly but rather sassy and did not have a helpful attitude. I placed a second order (paid separately) at first she wanted to skip me, and move on to the customers next to me (even tho I was in line ready to order), after I said I was paying separately then she took my order, didn't want to take my order after seeing me standing next in line. My husband proceeds to go inside after we get seats outside and grabs a coke (1.5 liter) and headed to the cashier to get price and cups so that he can bring outside. I go inside to confirm the price which was $5.45 and then told the cashier teenager "wow for that little bottle it's almost 6 dollars", that's crazy, of course not asking her for a price adjustment or asking her since clearly she was not responsible for prices.... just stating it was expensive, I clearly still PAID for it. We sat there for 30 mins, within that time she brought out the two slices I ordered and never came back out. After i went inside to ask how long for the pizza, since it had taken pretty long , seemed weird it was taking so long since we order from there all the time. As time went on, we finally get a hand gesture from the man making the pizza claiming to be the manager, telling us before the food is sent out we must pay for the soda. Now my mother in law already paid for the pizza, remember my husband got the soda, we was going to pay for it once we finished outside, because there is no policy on paying before going to sit outside where the cashier teenager can visibly see us sitting down. No communication at all, just sassy, and attitude for no apparent reason. Once we found out what was done, we were mad because the food was cold, runny and wet. We did not appreciate the pizza sitting there as if we were gonna leave the outside area and not pay for the soda. the entire service was rude and uncalled for. I ended up paying for the drink, didn't even finish my pizza because of the horrible service. I called and asked for the manager and spoke to Victor which was really no help since he did not tell the cashier girl anything and allowed the service to happen the way it did. read more

We rode the ferry to check out Lady Liberty and decided to grab dinner on the island. We nabbed a table without a reservation but I don't think that's typical. We started with zucchini sticks and mozzarella sticks. Both were what you would expect. The sauce was a treat, very tomatoey and tangy. We had a half and half veggie and meat pizza. Slices were tasty but got soggy quickly. We also had the lobster ravioli which was out of this word! The interior was cozy, the staff friendly and food service was quick. We were meeting friends from Staten Island at a SI Yankees game. They suggested we meet at Pier 76 for something to eat before the game. It's a short walk from the ferry to Pier 76. It's a bar, cafe and pizzeria. There is a window on the street selling slices to go. We settled into a high 4 top sitting on bar stools with backs in the bar area. There are TV screens around the bar so you can watch the game while eating or drinking. We ordered a large pizza with half sausage. I ordered a beer. The pizza that arrived at our table is a brick oven style, meaning a nice char on the crust. The crust was very good and stood up to the sauce and toppings. It was chewy with a little tooth to the crunch. There was a good amount of sausage too. The sauce and cheese were good and overall not bad. I've had better pizza in NYC, I've even had better pizza on Staten Island. But for a quick bite to eat before a SI Yankees game Pier 76 can't be beat. read more

I used to love this place! I'm struggling with giving them a negative review because of how much I used to enjoy their food! I'll start with the good: the food comes out hot every time without fail. They have really good baked clams and fried calamari. They also have local beer on tap. The bad: All the pasta dishes come out with a pool of liquid and extremely overcooked. The add-ons to the dishes like the chicken and shrimp also come out overcooked which dries it out! They recently raised all they prices as well! I know businesses need to increase prices to reflect rent, payroll, cost of food, etc. However, if the quality of the food declines then it makes it hard to justify the increase. UPDATE: Lastly THEY WERE SHUT DOWN BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR EVIDENCE OF CROSS CONTAMINATION AND RODENTS/ BUGS IN THE FOOD PREP AREA! What I remember from this place is their arugula pizza -- so freaking good!!! It came with a bunch of fresh toppings and it felt healthy eating it. I had the cauliflower pizza crust with the veggie pie topping. It was soooo good. Also the drinks were good. Very nice pour! Everything else was just ok. Chicken Alfredo needed more sauce. California Salad needed some salt. Sampler platter had mozzarella sticks, calamari and buffalo wings everything was meh! We had a pretty big crowd and the food came out as it was done. Waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed but tried to handle the large crowd. Will more than likely not visit back as there are many NY restaurants that can deliver tasty cuisine. Great food! Period! We came here at the recommendation of a friend and Pier 76 did not disappoint. We dropped by on a Saturday afternoon at around 3:30pm and the restaurant/bar was pretty much empty, although a few parties came in while we were eating. It was understandable since it was an odd time to really be eating and I can imagine that the restaurant gets more crowded for dinner or during sporting events. We were quickly greeted by a waitress when we sat down, which is always good, and the service was on par during our time there. As for the food? The selection was huge! We stared at the menu for almost 10 minutes and couldn't make up our minds on what to order. The menu was mostly comprised of bar food, burgers and Italian entrees/heroes, but there was a lot to choose from. We ended up ordering the Chicken Marsala entree with Linguine and the Breaded Eggplant with Mozzarella (Eggplant Parm) Large Hero. At first, I regretted my decision to get a hero because all of the other options sounded so good, but after digging in, I absolutely was reassured that it was a good decision! CHICKEN MARSALA WITH LINGUINE The Linguine was cooked with tomato pasta sauce and came on a separate plate, which surprised us a bit. We were expecting the Linguine to be mixed in under the Chicken Marsala so that the Marsala sauce could add flavor to the pasta. With that said, it still worked! The Chicken Marsala was full of great flavor and was an excellent portion size, not too big, but not small either. It was moist, not dry and very very tasty. The Linguine was cooked perfectly and could not have been cooked any better. Although we were disappointed that there was tomato sauce on the pasta, we just mixed it in with the Chicken Marsala sauce anyway and, like I said, it just worked! BREADED EGGPLANT WITH MOZZARELLA (EGGPLANT PARM) HERO A great Eggplant Parm Hero nevertheless! The eggplant was breaded very well and so soft with every bite. There was excellent flavoring, with the mixture of eggplant and mozzarella. Best of all, when the sauce started seeping into the bread, it softened it and made each bite even better. Once again, portioning was excellent, not the biggest hero, but we got our bang for the buck still. Like I said, I was a bit disappointed in my selection prior to digging in, but afterwards I was really glad I picked this hero! This was one of the best eggplant parms I have probably EVER had! The service was good throughout our meal, but the food was really what made our experience here and that is really all that should matter most of the time. The location is also very convenient as it is located within a 5 minute walk of the SI Ferry and Richmond County Bank Ballpark where the SI Yankees play. So if you're in the area looking for a good meal prior to leaving for the City or to see a SI Yankees game, this spot makes for a great option! read more

The Sicilian upside slice is definitely a good choice (stick with this one)-- per recommendation of another Yelp review. The AC was broken at the time of my visit, but if you sit at the bar side near the window, it's bearable. The weird thing is that I tried to get a soda from the fridge and immediately after I took it from the fridge, my hand SUDDENLY lost grip and I dropped it on the floor. It was the weirdest thing... a few minutes later I discovered that I had a sharp pain on my thumb and it started bruising up-- this actually doesn't really affect my thoughts on the place, but I thought it was weird since nothing hit me and I didn't bump into anything as it occurred... Update: I'm giving 1 star because 5/5 times we get delivery, the pizza/food is ice cold. When you call to tell them, they offer a measly 15% off your next order, OR, they'll come pick up the cold pizza and bring you a new one that's also cold and you'll have to wait another 1.5 hours to get it. Only reason we continue to order because the food is great but having to reheat it sucks. When we order pizza, I usually preheat the oven so when it gets here COLD, I'm ready to reheat it. Pier 76 looks like a local dive and it is! There is a bar and as you go further from the entrance in there is a seating area for eat-in, several with booth seats and the rest chairs. The cheese pizza comes in 3 sizes. We had the 16" that has eight slices of thin crust pizza. Crust could have been a bit crispier but excellent by many pizza standards. A good amount of cheese and sauce! The fried eggplant sticks were melt-in-your-mouth good and came with a red tomato dipping sauce and the fried Buffalo calamari was lightly floured and delicate! Cooked to perfection and not tough or overcooked. Although the plate had oil, the calamari did not taste of oil! The red sauce was fresh with chunks of tomatoes. We had the sauces to the side. One was red and the other was a creamy looking spicy sauce! Our waitress was excellent and checked in us several times! Most establishments have you bag your own leftovers but she took it away and came back with it all in a bag! Prices are very reasonable and food really good! The tables with red and white gingham tablecloths are covered with white paper for easy cleanup. Red painted walls are vibrant.
