First - I have to say the restaurant is cool. 100%. Cool location. Cool interior. Exactly what you expect from a "beachside" restaurant in Corpis. So for that - 5 stars. Ok.. the service ... I've never heard so many "I DONT KNOW"'s from a Waitress before. Multiple times questions were asked - 1. Do tomatoes come on the Club sandwich (in the picture you couldn't see and it didn't give an explanation)? - Waitress : I DONT KNOW ... (my friends daughter who wanted to order is allergic) - so ok.. just NO TOMATOES PLEASE. 2. What kind of fish is the tacos? - Waitress: I DONT KNOW - ok.. guess we will just see. We were not trying to be complicated, just wanted to make sure we enjoyed our food and no one needed an epi pin! We ordered hush puppies for appetizer- I added coleslaw (she didn't know how much the sides were) We each had different items and the menu does look great! For sure! I ordered from the Lunch menu because I didn't want too much food. The Shrimp and fish with fries - $9.99. My daughter ordered the fish tacos - $13.99 Son bowl of Gumbo - $6.99 Two friends - 1 got the Club (minus tomatoes) -$12.99 the other got the Shrimp Alfredo- $15.99. Enjoyed breeze, watching the birds, saw a guy net fishing off the pier and another older gentleman swam like 15 laps around the USS Lexington. Food came out... Gumbo had spilled into my fries and they were soggy. Gumbo had spilled into the friends Alfredo. Fish tacos were cold. My fried fish and shrimp were dripping with oil. We're still eating because we're hungry from the 2 hour drive down from SA. Totally forgot about the "appetizers" and almost done we get the Hushpuppies - Too full to eat them. But.. ok. Again.. loved the environment, loved the vibe, our waitress seemed sweet (the CUSTOMER SERVICE VOICE AND DEMEANOR was on point) but over all.. I would come back and have a drink or two and maybe just try the peel and eat shrimp at night just for the view. As someone who works in food service - know your menu. If you don't know - find out. It wasn't busy. By any means. We were there at 3:30pm there were only 3 other tables and 4-5 other servers.

Positioned perfectly between the USS Lexington and the Texas State Aquarium this spot is perfect for a quick snack or stop in for a drink after visiting either attraction! We decided to try a couple different appetizers as we were not in the mood to get an entire meal. Both my S/O and I started off with a strawberry Daiquiri and the seafood queso. We were presented with the queso which was arguably the best part of our visit. The chips were not quite salty enough for our taste but no problem as the table had its own! We were unfortunately not brought out our daiquiris for 15+ minutes, however after asking our waitress she promptly brought fresh ones out. We did not have any issues with our Daquiri other than the fact that the strawberry flavor was lacking, there was a little strawberry flavor however nothing to write home about. We then decided we would try the fried calamari and the hot wings. Both came out in a timely manner and were on average for what we were expecting. For our hot wings we decided to do an ever classic buffalo. While the flavor was there the texture just did not quite do it for either of us. They did not come out soggy however they were breaded and were not as crispy as we hoped for. The tops were however I believe a couple more minutes in the fryer would make them much better. The calamari was also average. The marinara cup that were brought was small in proportion to the amount of calamari (in my opinion). There was a good mix of rings and legs in the calamari, and the breading was nice however they did not stand out to us. Overall I was not disappointed nor was I impressed, I would 100% stop in after a day at the aquarium or USS Lexington and I was hungry for some seafood. I am not sure that I would stop for much more as there are better options for meals close.

Like most other past reviews the location is the biggest plus. On the water and great views. There is a heated section and outside section for the cold nights (or days). We walked from our hotel for dinner about 5pm. Not busy at all and servers and host waiting as we walked up. Family of 5 with three kids so heated section by the door. We ordered and app and meals - which we enjoyed. Norman burger / hamburger / kids burger and a seafood medley dish for the wife. Not one complaint about the food at all one improvement could be asking how burgers should be cooked by the server. The range of cooking for burgers was wide. Not sure if server just out what she thought we wanted or the cook cooked as they wanted it. But I'm not too picky about that. Where the service could improve was the server. Bella I think sue said. Lots of room for improvement here. Stood at the wrong end of the table to be heard first off. (Be at the end of the person ordering / paying. Presented food and asked right away how does it look (before biting into anything ). Then gone. And by gone is we never saw her until after finished awhile and present the check. She did not return to check after our first few bites. She did not return to offer refills of drinks. She did not return to clean dirty dishes and so on. Another server asked how our food was ! Understanding how a server can make or break a review and a restaurant- we only had an issue with the server and that is easy with a low tip. The location / restaurant/ food were all good for sure ! Better server would have been a 5 for sure

We saw this restaurant from the flight deck of the USS Lexington Museum. It's just a quick 1 minute walk from the base of the museum walkway so we decided to have a late lunch here. We were seated right away on the deck - which had great big umbrellas for shade and the breeze was awesome. Our server, Jacquelyn, was great! Friendly and attentive. Our food was good. I had a burger and my husband had the bourbon glazed (?) chicken sandwich. I also got a mango frozen daiquiri... and it was good! There was also live music (one man "band" - Billy Snipes). We enjoyed our visit here.

Grace was kind, friendly, helpful & patient. She laughed at all my cheesy jokes. Food was yummy. Portion size was good. Prices were fair. Atmosphere is awesome! I mean, c'mon, who doesn't enjoy eating beachside? This place is dog friendly also as I saw a couple pups on the patio while I dined. There were so many good looking options on the menu. I finally decided on the chicken & rice as well as an onion ring appetizer. No complaints.

It was nice to sit outside, the breeze blowing with live music playing. The food was also good. However the time to be served, on a slow Sunday afternoon, was crazy. We waited over an hour for our food (grilled chicken, a Ceasar salad, a corn dog, chicken strips and fish & shrimp plate). Seems like the kitchen is down. Our server was great, super friendly.

We wanted to try this place for lunch today since we were visiting the aquarium. We went around lunch time 12ish. Sat down ordered. Drinks came out fast. We got our food and realized we didn't get any silverware at all or any cocktail sauce or tarter with the seafood we had ordered. Only reason why I gave 4 out of 5. Other than that the food was good and fresh. The fried fish could have been meatier or bigger it was very thin and fried. The oysters were delicious. Will come back again!

    Mother-Clucker

Wow! Best chicken sandwich I have had--hands down.get the Mother-Clucker folks. So flavorful and not overwhelming hot.

Bacon wrapped jalapeños were delicious. Definitely recommend this one.

Seafood queso was very good. Service is very friendly. The restaurant is awesome. I'm looking at an aircraft carrier the Lexington with a view of the ocean right next to it. Super nice.

    Jenna S.

The United States flag should have been a warning- especially when you have a retired aircraft carrier from World War II in your backyard! But hey... I tried because of local convenience/location. The oysters were freshly battered and fried... the salt content was so off the charts- thank goodness for fresh horseradish! The ownership need to remember the city council that refuses to clean common areas around the restaurant - DOES NOT mean " carte blanche" to reflect the same in your establishment. Poor Selena rolling in her grave at the disgrace of Corpus Christi! I only came to pay my respects to her and the poor sailors disgraceful reflected with a flag rotten and hanging in distress!

Since it was our first time dining at Republic of Texas, we were unsure of the checkout process. Our server mentioned that we could charge the bill to our room, but we wanted to leave him a generous cash tip. Unfortunately, he walked by our table several times without acknowledging us, and we waited over 20 minutes before I finally had to get up and practically head toward the kitchen to give him our payment and tip. We still left a 20% tip because we understand how busy Saturday nights can be, but when guests are sitting there with to-go bags, it only takes a few seconds to check on them and see what they need. That was our only disappointment, and although it was frustrating, I would not take any stars away because of it. We ordered the Bison Steak, Ribeye, baked potato, au gratin potatoes, quail knots, scallop appetizer, crème brûlée, bread pudding, and bread. Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious. I ordered a white russian and my husband ordered one of their signature drinks, both were tasty. Our bill was $312 for 2 cocktails, 2 appetizers, 2 steaks, 2 sides, 2 desserts. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely return if we are ever back in the area.

We came in about an hour before closing so the restaurant was nearly empty, but our waiter served us graciously and didn't miss a beat on amazing service. We had the calmari, kats meow (shrimp appetizer), and a steak with Mac n cheese and potatoes. All were amazing. I also had a caesar salad that paired well with the shrimp accompaniment that we ordered with the steak. Only watch out, is it was a little dark in the restaurant to me, but nothing unbearable. I would definitely recommend and whenever I'm back in Corpus I will return.

Here's my Clint Eastwood review, The Good, The Bad, and The Disappointing…read more The Good Location, not on SPID and all that congestion. Located on Spohn right off of S Staples, really nice location. This place is huge, with a giant bar, where we like to sit and dine, with an adjacent raw/Sushi bar, very nice. The bar offers a huge selection of adult beverage makings. We were celebrating our 39th anniversary, so a restaurant of this caliber is certainly appropriate. The drinks, a Tanqueray Martini with an Orange twist for her and a Manhattan straight up with four roses bourbon for me, were perfectly sized and delicious. The restaurant boasts a large freestanding humidor with a nice selection of cigars. I also noticed a wall of personal humidor lockers for customers to keep their personal cigars available. This all suggested a cigar room, but I never saw it. The wait staff, were mostly attentive. Instead of depending on your bartenders to deliver food, I'm more accustomed to restaurants, of this caliber, to have a dedicated wait staff for bar dining patrons. Especially considering they have a large number of high top tables for dining in the bar. Friday nights, like when we were there, get pretty hectic for the bartenders. For our second drink the bartender made mistakes on both our drinks, my wife's Martini came with Olives,(I liked them) instead of the twist of orange. My Manhattan came with her twist of orange instead of the usual Luxardo cherry. Perhaps if the bartenders just bartended they wouldn't make simple mistakes. ‍ . They were very nice and brought me a shot glass with several Luxardo cherries in it. Thank you Ladies! The food. We started with appetizers. My wife got their escargot that were traditionally prepared in an escargot serving dish rich with butter, garlic and a hint of citrus. They were delicious, albeit small. My wife was happy with them. I got their Crispy Calamari Atop Stir Fried Carrots, Green Onions & Cashews with a Kung Pao Sauce. This dish, for us, was the hit of the night. The calamari, instead of the rings so commonly served, were calamari strips. They were perfectly fried and the combination of the calamari, the vegetables and that kung pao sauce was absolutely mouth watering. If you like calamari I highly recommend this dish. You won't be disappointed. Entrees. My wife got their escargot Greek style rack of Lamb with spinach. The Lamb was perfectly seasoned and served medium-rare. It was absolutely delicious. If you like Lamb this is a great dish, oh and the chops were huge! The Bad. Nothing to see here. The Disappointing. I ordered the USDA Prime Ribeye with Citrus-Braised Baby Carrots & Whipped Potatoes and a Dijon Herbal Butter. I order my steaks cooked medium-rare "Pittsburgh style". First, everyone knows what a ribeye steak looks like, it has that very distinctive shape, you can't miss it. If what they served me was a ribeye, then I'm the true Bad Bunny! When the entrees were delivered they didn't give us steak knives, we had to ask for them. Now maybe they were that confident in the tenderness of the meat that they didn't feel we needed steak knives. Or maybe, just maybe, they should be tending bar instead of delivering food. Second the menu clearly states USDA Prime Ribeye. I know what that is, and what was served me wasn't that. As I stated I order my steaks "Pittsburg style". What that means is the steak is first cooked to an internal temperature that is 5 to 10° short of medium-rare. The steak is then immersed in either melted butter or tallow and then immediately thrown on a very hot grill. This causes the grill to engulf the steak in flames charring the outside of the steak and raising the internal temperature to medium-rare. I do it all the time on my backyard grill. While my steak did have some charring, it wasn't Pittsburg style. Conclusions. Would we go back? Absolutely if for nothing else to get that crispy calamari. Would I order the steak again? Not without getting some assurances that I get a Rib Eye and they know how to cook it Pittsburg style. I guess, in the end, this has all the potential to be a high-end steakhouse, for our visit I felt they didn't meet that expectation.
