First, the owner is a total jerk. After waiting an hour between the first course and the main course, we called him over to let him politely know what was going on and we were berated. I would have settled for empty gestures like "let me see what's going on", or "sometimes we get backed up". Instead he was immediately rude, condescending and asked if we had a business meeting to go, where we were from and how they "dine out here". Actually, we own a home here for more than 30 years and have been coming to the Hamptons every summer and will now take this place off our list . BTW- the place is crazy expensive with bad service. Service was ok ... and at one point when we were deciding which ice cream to order for dessert, the server walked away. RUDE ... The people walking in the restaurant seemed kinda old and snobby. They were air kissing the owner as they were walking in, but that's the Hamptons for you. I ordered the Bavette grillée, sauce Béarnaise, cresson et pomme frite $32 (Grilled hanger steak with Béarnaise sauce, watercress and French fries) The only good thing was the fries and the steak was kinda blah. Friends ordered: Loup de mer, asperges et poireaux et purée de pommes de terre . Sauce au beurre blanc $ 34 (Chilian seabass, served with asparagus, potato purée and leek. Sauce beurre blanc)- my friend didn't really like this Bouillabaisse Marseillaise $32 (Clams, mussels, shrimp, sea scallops and sea bass poached in a saffron and pastis broth) Then we ordered the Caramelized apple tart with puff pastry and Hot melting Valrhona chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream which was actually very good. I honestly feel like i was robbed. I paid about 75$ for an omelet and an avocado toast . The omelet was probably the worst ive ever had it was burnt , chewy and flavorless and kind of gamey tasting, i honestly should Have returned it i guess im too nice. My wife got the avocado toast that cost around $28.00 the poached eggs look like someones first attempt at poached eggs, plate was a mess and it really was not great at all very little flavor. This review is for two recent dinners at Pierre's, admittedly my first. Food is exceptional. Salads incredibly fresh. Fish and chicken wonderfully prepared. The atmosphere is sophisticated but still light. The servers, while very young and not yet incredibly experienced (common currently in the Hamptons), have been both efficient and pleasant. I will say, you may need to politely advocate for yourself if not given the table of your choice right away, but on both occasions when that was the case we were readily re accommodated without fuss. Pierre's is a very good restaurant that may be suffering from its own success where some patrons have unrealistic expectations. But from my perspective, this is a restaurant for grown ups who know how to comport themselves. Do so, and you will have a terrific experience. read more

We got there unfortunately a few minutes after the to-go store closed, so we went into the restaurant to see if there were pastries for sale there. We were in search of a raspberry tart. While we were looking at the pastry case, to which the hostess at the restaurant had pointed us, a manager (or the owner?) asked what we were looking for and voila! Came here for a Mother's Day brunch with family. The white haired eccentric rude owner Pierre just ruined our whole experience with his bad attitude and also the rude staff. While a very pleasant outdoor setting for a meal, it was shocking how little you get for your money. Even in the Hamptons, this is an outlier. A $20 Caesar salad was a small portion of romaine, mediocre dressing, store bought croutons (at least that's what they looked like) and some dry parmesan. We don't need huge portions but this was ridiculous. My husband could not believe that they had the nerve to charge $26 for an average goat cheese omelet, served with a few wilted lettuce leaves. If you want bread with your meal, there is a separate charge. It seems for those prices it could be included. Maybe to have coffee and pastry is best. read more

Overpriced and while food is fine the arrogance of the place is really distasteful. A small matter but our kids ordered the filet and the chicken and wanted to sub out the potatoes dauphinois and the purée for fries. Waiter said no problem to switch the potatoes for fries and at the end of our $500 meal they charged $34 for fries. When questioned he said "we don't do substitutions". Might have been better to have mentioned that when he made the substitution. While not a huge dollar amount it's small gesture to ensure a loyal customer feels appreciated. Well, we went in and got seated and after looking at the ridiculous brunch prices decided we'd diddy it up. I ordered some kind of omelet with ham, bell peppers and spinach and my two friends ordered some crazy other french breakfasty things which I can't pronounce or spell. I think it was two types of breakfast sammies. In any case, the service was EXCELLENT! The food was YUMMY! And lo and behold, Kelly Ripa and her family were in there delicately wolfing down brunch too. Celeb bonus points!! More of a seen and be seen place, but I liked it. I barely gave them three stars. The food is okay. I had the salmon and it was okay. The roasted vegetables with goat cheese were better. It's the little things they are failing at more than less than stellar food. The bread was hot and soft on the inside, but very hard on the outside. I could get beyond that, but the butter was hard. If this sounds picky, that's fine. But I think a place of this caliber should do the small things well, and the big things even better. The food simply did not blow me away. Way way way overpriced. Plus the owner is not a nice person. I've heard of two situations where the servers were not treated properly when they needed medical attention. One server was bit by a customers dog and Pierre refused to let them get medical attention until after their shift! Also another server badly cut themselves and again Pierre wouldn't let the go to the hospital until the shift was over. By the way the ambulance was called once their shifts ended. Clearly they needed medical attention. I refuse to support a business owner who treats his employees like sh**. Horrible person. read more

What a disappointment. The waiter gave me the wrong main course. My wife ordered lamb chops, and basically had to butcher them herself. The dauphinois was so overwhelmed by thyme that it was almost inedible. We didn't bother to stay for dessert. It would have been a ripoff at half the price. Just stopped in to pick up a few nibbles, got a strawberry tartlet and a lemon sorbet. The sorbet was divine and hit the spot on a warm day. I had the strawberry tartlet later on and was a touch disappointed. I did not care for the glaze they used to coat the tart, it gave it a somewhat mealy feel in the mouth and I don't love the flavor, it kind of overpowered the other components of strawberries and pastry cream, which seemed fresh and good, but it was hard to tell under the mushy globbed on glaze. I like an apricot glaze for the taste and texture, but that's my personal preference. I'm happy to try the other pastries that looked enticing, but think I'll avoid anything glazed at least for now. read more

I recently went to Pierre's with 3 of my friends for a Sunday brunch. After posting a review, as requested from Pierre's website, this was his startling response to my criticism on his outrageous prices. Remember, this was "Brunch" and our bill came to just under $500.00 for four people. One side order of french fries alone was $16.00!!!!! Here was his response: Jan 3 at 11:01 AM Thank you for your visit and for taking the time to write your note I take your remarks very personally. I know I should not, but that's the way I am. Some numbers for your information: Before anyone sits down, each seat cost about $18.00 Rent, insurance, utilities, garbage collector, various town permits and license, repairs and maintenance, cleaning supplies, CPA and accountant, table clothes, napkins, glasses, silvers... To this you add: The cost of food (30%) I buy only organic food from certified suppliers. A cheap chicken is always too expensive for what it is. The cost of the staff (40%). Minimum wage just went up. Staff need a car, gas, insurance and they will not come to work for the minimum wage anyway. Waiters, bussers, runners, hostess, managers bartenders, dishwashers, chefs...7 days, breakfast, lunch and dinner. And the owner is expected to be present all day. If you think you can do better, congratulation. I suggest that you open your own restaurant. I'll be happy to be your customer, support your business and help you with the wine list. I do not know what you do for a living, but I do not think you would go to work to loose money or work for free. You probably have a family and you are responsible to pay your bills. It is the same for us. If we offer some kind of service to the community year round, we are not into charity either. I think you should have a better look at my menu that offers a prix fix formula, instead of focusing on the cost of the French fries that come for free with many of the dishes anyway. One of the stars is because the food was edible, the other star was for the ambience which hinted at the restaurants former glory, which hopefully it had at some point? We had lunch at the restaurant (mediocre) and took some pastries to go: an almond pithivier and a Napoleon. The puff pastry in them was definitely baked, although probably a week earlier; tasted stale and old Leaves you longing for some good french pastry. Hopefully they have other specialties they are good at, but I won't take the gamble. read more

Two months later charged 209 cancellation fee went in to see them and show them I cancelled within the time frame the owner says it it was cancelled on the 30 the reservation was for the second he tells me it was not 24 hours he cannot even do the math!! The owner was so horrifying to us I'm still in shock. I never have written any type of review before but Pierre's has made me do so. If you do not know the owner or he doesn't like you for whatever reason expect to be treated like trash. They told us they were not taking any reservations beforehand and once we arrived they told us we had to wait because we did not have a reservation. After complaining the owner then told us "don't worry girls you'll be seated" very rudely. I've never felt more uncomfortable in my life. My family decided to stop for lunch here on the way to east Hampton and despite having our toy poodle with us, the restaurant gladly accommodated us outside. At 2:30 on a Wednesday afternoon, the lunch rush was just leaving and we were sat at a nice (though a bit uncomfortable due to the bench) table near the door of the bakery. Our waiter was very attentive and pleasant and helped us to decide on the lobster salad and house-made pesto on fettuccine. To begin, we got a reasonably priced bottle of champagne (wine by the glass was a tad overpriced at $16/glass). The lobster salad was the star of the show. It was served as an almost cake-like shape over an artistically placed bed of frisée with a dried apple slice on top. The salad was very light with a hint of citrus and apple flavor. The pesto that I had was good but more of an olive oil base than I am used to. At the recommendation of our waiter, we split the profiteroles drizzled in a Belgian-style chocolate sauce. I had a macchiato that was decent and accompanied by a necessary square of chocolate to stay off the bitterness of the espresso. Overall, an extremely pleasant meal with a great staff! Over MDW this year my fiancé and I came here for brunch. The place is very cozy and I feel like the owner knows everyone. It has a French sailor theme to the place. The wait time was very little on a Saturday at 12pm I Believe we waited 5 minutes to be seated. The coffee s delicious and they give you a little chocolate with the coffee (very French). For the appetizer we started with the cold lobster salad. It was very good and had lots of chunky parts of the lobster (yum) with just enough mayo ..it wasn't overwhelming. For the entrée she had the eggs benedict and I had the burger. My burger was ok nothing with a wow factor but my fiances eggs were very good and the hollaindase sauce was perfect. Unfortunately, this place has lost all its luster. Have been going to Pierre's for years, as it used to be a fun buzzy spot, with great food and good service. Last few visits however have not been the same. You still get a face full of attitude at the door, but we can deal with this, when the food and scene are great. But they aren't. The place looks a little dilapidated; doesn't appear he's updated or replaced anything in a decade. The prices have all gone up, even though it's the exact same dishes on the exact same old laminated menus he's had forever. So it's gone from pricey, which we didn't mind, to just downright ridiculous. And the lack of normal crowds is a reflection of all this. Used to be a tough table to get, but no longer. Come on, Pierre, step it back up! Also, and let me say, we fully understand and appreciate if you don't want to make it a 'kid friendly' restaurant, which it clearly is not (no kids menu, not a single kids option, not even a half portion of the adult pasta available anymore). We get this, no problem, not every place has to be. But be reasonable. You have a $30 pasta penne on the menu; let the kid order the half portion, like you used to. Or a simple pasta with butter. In the 5 minute interaction we had at Pierre's to grab some pastry and a coffee for the road, I have to say I'm a big fan. Traditional French pastries invite you in glass displays that line the shop, and there are cases on top of cases with chocolates, bicottis, macarons, and tarts galore. In the back there's a refrigerated cases with savory items. My husband got the pave d'Alsace, a thick and hearty square pastry which was absolutely dense and fabulous. Layers of raspberry jam, almond paste, and honey between perfectly flaky puff pastry with slivered almonds on top. Divine. We'll return for a meal next time. read more

He was rude to us, forced us to get up from our table before finishing the meal and exiled us to the lounge and we had to take everything with us. The lounge had lounge music blaring and the first thing we heard was mother F---er over the sound system which is totally inappropriate for people trying to enjoy a nice evening out. I was in Montauk and heading back home. I made sure to stop at Pierre's for dessert. I was very pleased. I met Pierre. I asked him what dessert he could suggest I try...he said to try the Napolean. There were several flavors. I picked the Strawberry Napolean. The Strawberry Napolean was EXQUISITE! The strawberry flavor was just enough...the flaky layers had a carmelization on the bottom that was such a great compliment to the strawberry cream. Loved the cream too. It's a must try. I wish I lived closer. I'd buy one every single day! They have a restaurant AND take-out. Love the decor of Pierre's. I took photos. Enjoy! read more
