I've been eating pies and pints across the country and have always raced about it. This is the first time I've eaten from the Carmel location. To say it was an disappointing is an understatement. I ordered a delivery of small hot momma, a small gluten free with bacon, pepperoni, and bacon along with an order of wings. They arrived to the house cold. Well worth the upcharge. The small salad was big enough for 3 to have a decent sized side. My only qualm was that we did not receive our wings which may have been a DoorDash issue. It may be no fault of the restaurant whatsoever, but their choice to partner exclusively with a service that has a reputation for such issues is not excellent. Plus, DoorDash gives a credit instead of refund which means now I have to use their subpar service again. It's a trap! First time eating in at pies and pints and didn't have the highest expectations to begin. We started out with the wings and antipasto salad. The wings had a nice char to them and were very tasty, wish they came with some sauce as they need just a little something else. The antipasto salad was an amazing choice though. Very well put together including plenty of meats and cheeses, definitely a must get for anyone coming here. We tried three different pizza toppings. The margarita was the first and absolute best option, very garlic and basil heavy which I love. We also got the hot mama which was our second favorite. It was a nice spicier pie with sweet peppers to cut the fat of the hot capicola topping. Last we got the chicken Gouda.. or chipotle chicken I can't remember. It was good just a little too much sauce on the pizza and generally I am not the biggest fan of chicken on my pizza. However, if you gave this to me hungry and a couple beers in. Welcome to Clay Terrace! We're thrilled to have ya'. For real though, it's so nice to have another quick food option in this space. We stopped by and we're surprised by how much we enjoyed the pizza. We got a large Margherita pizza and loved the cheese and crust. It came out piping out and pretty quick. We have already come back and gotten another too. The pizza is pretty greasy, but I think that's also might be what makes it so good. Excited to try some of the more unique pizzas too. The interior space is pretty and there are big tables for families and groups as well. It's very modern, comfortable and chill. First time here. It was ok. The crust and the actual "pie" was good. But, the waiter spoke highly of the chicken Gouda pizza. So, when it came it had so much bacon on it that's all you could taste. Bacon was supposed to be on it, but they added so much. More chicken less bacon. I don't think I would order that again. I thought it was pricey for a 10 inch pizza it was $16!!! This place must be popular - there was a 25 minute wait to sit outside, so we just sat at the bar. The server started taking our order while also taking the order of the couple next to us, not writing anything down. My husband commented that she would get our order wrong. Indeed, he was right. All our drinks, our salad, and my gluten free pizza were correct, but the half and half pizza that my husband and our friend ordered was half wrong. Thankfully, the guys aren't picky and liked the "wrong" half just fine. Anyway, we all thought the salad (large enough to share) was delicious, served with nice balsamic vinaigrette and creamy gorgonzola dressings on the side. My gluten-free white pie was good, and garlickier than expected (not a complaint, just a note), with loads of whole cloves of roasted garlic. There was one nice cider on tap for me, and several in bottles/cans to choose from. We liked the vibe here, AND the fact that they gave us a discount for riding our bicycles there (thanks to Pedal Perks this summer, which can be found on the Hamilton County tourism website). Plus, we had lots of friendly staff (not just our server) coming by to check on us and see if we needed anything. We will definitely try this place again, arriving by bike, of course. ;) read more

I had dinner there last night and ordered two small pizzas; the Thai and the Hot Mama and a caesar salad. I was not happy with the Hot Mama. It had no flavor, too much tomato sauce and it was too salty. At first I thought it was the Parmesan cheese I sprinkled on it. I took the Thai Pizza home for my son and he said his was too salty as well and wasn't a good pizza. He only had one slice and couldn't eat anymore. So it must have been the pizza dough. Saw this place and knew that it was a place to try. I have a gluten allergy and know that whenever I eat out there is always a risk of cross contamination. The service here is amazing. The servers we dealt with were very friendly and helpful, and they knew the menu and could answer questions. The manager even came out at one point to ask everyone if they were doing OK. Pies & Pints has a huuuuge list of beers on tap. To make it a little easier, they list their beers on a giant TV-looking screen above the bar. It tells you how much of the beer they have left, as well as the details about each beer itself, like the type (ale, cream, blond, red, etc.), the alcohol content, and where it was made. I chose a blonde beer from a brewery in Greenwood, Indiana. It was really good. The portions here are huge, too. I think that's a theme at Pies & Pints: hugeness. Huge food, huge list of beers. We got a large pizza, and we were able to do a halfsies thing where we got one house specialty on one half, and another on another half. We opted for margherita on one half, and the other half was steak, horseradish sauce and onions. We both loved the steak one! But we both agreed that we were glad that we didn't get a whole large pizza of either one. It was fun to try a little bit of two. They have some pretty fun flavor combinations, so I recommend doing a half-and-half with a large pizza. I almost forgot that we started with a pulled-pork nachos appetizer. Honestly, we probably could have just called it a day after eating the nachos, because they were huge, too, and more than enough for four people. We also got dessert to go: cheesecake with raspberry sauce, and a chocolate and peanut butter terrine. The chocolate terrine was so rich that just a couple of bites were satisfactory. The cheesecake was delicious and surprisingly light, and the raspberry sauce was the cherry on top (or raspberry on top, as it were). read more

We decided to try Pies & Pints at Clay Terrace before catching a movie across the way at Regal a couple weeks ago. Neither of us had been there before and we fancy ourselves craft beer aficionados. So checking out the beer menu and number of taps was by far the primary draw for us. I was pleasantly surprised when the pizza turned out to be very good. We are light-to-medium-sized eaters and had more than enough by splitting a specialty pie with no starters. We took 2-3 pieces home. We loved the fact that we could order a half-and-half. Our choice: mushroom garlic on one side and chicken gouda on the other--and it was a phenomenal combination. I don't usually love pizza, partly because I'm picky about the crust. But Pies & Pints does a nice job with a not too thick, not too thin, crispy and flavorful edge. I'm looking forward to trying their GF version next time. We sat at the bar and found the electronic beer menu entertaining on its own. We watched as the menu showed that a tap was running low, then it ran out, they changed it to the next new beer of the list, and the beer meter went from red back to green. In addition to listing ABV and IBU, it also shows the location of the brewery, the style glass in which your beer will be served, and the color of the beer. After a beer and one-third of a pizza, I didn't want a whole other beer. They suggested a half pint, and priced it at exactly half too! This was our second visit ... But probably our last. The food is so-so. And they appeared to be severely understaffed tonight, so the service suffered. Some guests who has apparently gotten tired of waiting for a table started bussing tables. (Good on them for helping out, but it's a testament to how understated this place was tonight.) After we were seated, we ordered. The wait for food wasn't crazy long, but it wasn't fast either. I'd ordered a drink to go along with the pizza. It didn't come out until we were almost done with the dinner. I told them that at that point I wasn't interested in the drink. We were almost done for dinner. My wife and I love this pizza joint!! We've been coming here for a couple years now and has pretty much been the only sit down pizza place we visit. The pizza is amazing!! The crust, sauce, toppings, cheese and.....grease (mwah-ha-ha) is what makes it fun and delicious to eat. On large pizzas you can even do a half n' half for some variety. And of course,the beer !!! Mmmmm delicious draft beer with greasy delicious pizza. It definitely will satisfy you on any day of the week in any season. Definitely a great add to the Clay Terrace! We have had Pies & Pints in West Virginia, Cincinnati, and now finally at home in Indy. If you like a wide array of beer (though overpriced) and goat cheese--definitely make a stop here! Pros: If you go (and are not lactose intolerant) then you need to get the Rosemary Flatbread with balsamic vinaigrette reduction and the goat cheese! Hands-down it is one of the best menu items. A really great new dining option in the neighborhood! I was anxiously waiting for this place to open and this week training is over and it is open to the public. My first impressions are quite favorable. I really like the open space in the dining room, the brick is attractive and two large TVs are placed at angles that prodigy comfortable viewing. The menu is extensive. Appetizers are unique and there are several to choose from. I am here for lunch so I decided to skip the appetizer this time and just get a small pizza. So many delicious and unique pizza varieties but I figured I couldn't go wrong with a margarita pizza. My pizza came out quickly, probably 7 minutes. Delicious with fresh ingredients, perfectly baked and attractive presentation. Definitely a small pizza is larger than a personal lunch size, would easily satisfy two. So bring a friend but be warned it might be difficult to come to a decision with such a wide selection. Service is excellent, very attentive and helpful. I was in the mood for some good food and a cold beer. So it was no surprise that when one of my girlfriends recommended Pies & Pints she wasn't able to finish her sentence before I said yes. Those of y'all that follow my reviews know I'm a sucker for a good pie. I love the urban industrial feel the space has. Their use of Raw wood finishes, iron, steel, and exposed duct work makes for a pretty sweet space. But I didn't go for the aesthetic I went for the pizza! These pies are not your typical slices. The combinations they have come up with are quite unique. We ordered a large 1/2 and 1/2. 1/2 was the SRIRACHA SHRIMP with fresh garlic, red onions, fresh pineapple, scallions, basil, mint, cilantro & sriracha aioli. I would've never thought to put shrimp on a pizza but y'all this pizza was fresh and different but in the best way. Would most definitely order it again. The other half STEAK & MUSHROOM caramelized onions, gorgonzola, horseradish crema & scallions without the mushrooms. My friend is not a fan of mushrooms. This half was so savory. The steak was cooked to perfection. I will order this delectable pie again but want to try it the mushrooms next time. The crust on both had amazing flavor and not at all soppy or floppy. To wash it all down I ordered a Sierra Nevada Wild Little Thing. We stopped in here for pizza and beer. They tell us they only been open since August. We are impressed. Service was outstanding -- every waitstaff that stopped by the table was tentative and helpful. The brews were great. The Greek salad was one of the best we have ever had. Absolutely large enough for two to share. We ordered the Classic pizza and added olives to that. We always get the large and we were able to bring home 3/4 of a pizza! The only surprise the entire visit was the fact that they did not have any pizza spatulas. Pies & Pints has become one of my new favorite places to eat at in Carmel. The service is always fast and friendly. Their beer list is extensive and the pricing is fair. I'd say that they have some of the best pizzas out of anywhere on Indy's north side. I got their Italian pizza, (which is essentially the same ingredients that you'd get on an Italian sandwich) and this pizza absolutely blew me away by how good it was. I also highly recommend their white pizza as well (roasted garlic cloves & ricotta). A kids pizza was only $4.99 too, so I appreciate them being affordable to families. I don't know whether that was the restaurant or the driver, but either way, great! Fast service - went on a Friday around 3pm and got in and out. The hostess and waitress were both very nice, and the food was delicious and hot when it came out (ordered pizza and wings). I think we will need to come back soon and give this place another try. We went for lunch the other day and it seems like they are maybe struggling, like many other restaurants, to stay fully staffed. However I did feel bad for the fact that it seemed like they were requiring the bartender to cover the patio seating as a server as well as running the bar. We very much enjoyed our food though, we did a build your own large pizza half sausage and half chicken bacon. Our son also ordered the kids cheese pizza, and gives his compliments to the chef. Like I said, we enjoyed our food, so I think we will be back in the near future and hopefully they will have some of their service issues worked out. read more
