This is in a newer building. Of course my little one just loves pancakes and any place that has Pancake in it name must be the best place on earth. To a 7 year old this is all true. Pig'n Pancake is a very nice american dinner type restaurant. Very much like a Denny's or Shari's restaurant. But this place is on the coast, open early this morning for breakfast, and the crew were hungry. The food was typical for this type of place. Bella had strawberry pancakes. Go figure. We had eggs, toast and coffee, Ok. The price is good. Not a real exciting place, but it was clean and newish. read more

While I can appreciate a local, small chain, and tend to patronize them more than larger chains, this one didn't really stand out. The food, mediocre, not terrible though which is why I am giving three stars. The service was good, prices a bit higher than expected for the quality/type of food available on the menu. I had the crab and cheese omelet with pancakes and side of hash-browns. The omelet was literally crab and cheese which was ok, perhaps having some other vegetables or some additional flavors to help bring it to life would have been welcomed. The pancakes were good and I enjoyed the mixed berry syrup on the table. While I didn't ask, it would be nice for a place like this to offer real maple syrup. It is really hard for me to keep from giving Pig 'N Pancake less stars for the one simple fact that you have to walk through a junk shop just to see the hostess. Upon walking in you are barraged from unrelated and not really even locally themed gifts and useless crap. It's tacky and unappealing. If this place really makes a huge profit from this, then fine. Breakfast place that is consistent and solid good. We had omelets and pancakes that were tasty and well cooked. We had a waffle come out cold, but those are had to time and we immediately had a hot one to replace it. The Skillet breakfasts are good. Huge portions and a good value for they money. Service was good, and it was a busy weekend. Will go again before we leave. Next trip just as good. read more

Veggie omlete was more like an egg burrito filled with HUGE chunks of uncooked yellow squash, uncooked broccoli, uncooked cauliflower, onions, and red peppers. The egg tasted like rubber. No amount of salt and pepper helped. Hash browns were fine. Toast was soggy with so much butter.. on both sides. We had a Saturday morning breakfast at 7 am while visiting the area. We were seated and given menus by the busser, but did not see a waitress for a good 10 minutes, nor were we offered coffee. I decided to check this place out after a long shift at work. I ended up having some biscuits and gravy, some hash browns and a blueberry milkshake. The biscuits were nice and fluffy but they were a little bit doughy in the middle. The gravy was also okay. But the blueberry milkshake was very good. Not to sweet and blueberry had good flavor. From the outside this doesn't look exciting, but it is great for breakfast! I was traveling and passed on the donuts with coffee in the foam cup @ my motel for a real breakfast here. I had 2 eggs over easy with English muffin and fruit substituted for the hash browns. Everything was prepared perfectly and Ellie (the server) was very attentive and friendly. I loooovvvveee breakfast food. I was pretty excited this morning when we were going to this restaurant for breakfast. I'll admit it is very reminiscent of IHOP but I like IHOP so yeah. Huge fan of bacon and eggs. I wanted to try the coconut pancakes but I also wanted a protein. The waitress worked it out for me so that I could substitute some stuff and save some money and get everything I wanted to. So that was cool. The scrambled eggs were okay but they seemed a little dry. My husband's eggs on the other hand were undercooked a bit. The bacon was really good and my pancakes were really good. My mom got a cappuccino with some caramel that she seemed to like. Is it the best place in town to get breakfast? Maybe not. I don't know. If you just want to grab breakfast and chillax with a cup of coffee and some bacons. This place is for you. read more

This place was great. It was super busy and we had a party of 13! They asked if we Would take split tables in the same area and we said of course. Had to wait about 20 minutes but they were able to get us sat at tables by each other. Even though they were busy our server was patient and kind with our large group and all our kids. I'll start with the positive side: I've had worse breakfasts! And now on to the negative side. The food is pretty basic and bland. The biscuits and gravy was just 2 biscuits cut in half on a plate with pretty watery gravy and an orange slice. The chicken fried steak looked like a piece of a tire with breading on it. And oh the coffee - tasted like airplane coffee. The last thing I'll mention is, while the building at this location looks relatively modern, it smells like a mortuary inside the restaurant. Was very surprised, it's thanksgiving and this was the only place we found open! I've never eaten here before, the reviews were bad but the service was excellent and I really enjoyed the food! I had the eggs Benedict, and again was surprised at how good it was, the poached eggs were perfect, and the hollandaise sauce was very good! Prices are fair. The Chicken Fried Steak tasted like it was infused with rubber, probably due to high fat content. I only took one two bites, and the waiter either didn't notice or didn't feel like asking. The wait staff is typically friendly and never had any issues here before. Pig Sty and Pancake would be a better name. My wife and I went to Newport for a couple days for our Anniversary. We went to PNP on July 31st for breakfast and based on the name expected a good breakfast. The place was loud, and obnoxious, but we were hungry and there were a lot of people there, we figured the food would be good. I ordered the Country Fried Steak / Eggs and my wife ordered the Potato Pancakes. We ordered coffee, my wife wanted decaf. Three tries later she finally got them to give her decaf, we finally gave up trying. While sitting waiting for our food, we saw a sign about not putting the high chairs for kids upside down. Not sure why people would do that, odd? We looked around and the booth, the floor, the walls, the picture frames were filthy, have not been cleaned (more on that in a moment) Our food came... My chicken fried steak was cut up in little pieces. I am in my 40s, I can use a knife. It was cold because it was cut up, why do that? The country gravy was bland, no spices, no heat, no salt, no pepper, just a white flour gravy. Meh! My wife's so called Potato Pancakes were just regular Hash Browns with some green onion in it, and some applesauce on the side. As hash browns go, they are fine, but a potato pancake it does not make. She ate about 1 1/2 hash brown patties and gave up. We had to beg for coffee over and over.. and we finally asked to see the manager. A woman in her mid 40s (I think) came over, and I asked her about the dirt and dust. I took my finger and swiped the picture frame face and a huge pile of dust piled on my finger. I did the same thing on the ledge and the same happened. I asked her when it was the last time anyone cleaned. She said "We have not had time to clean this summer" Please remember it is now July 31st. They have gone a couple months w/o cleaning. I asked her why... she said "They are too busy in the summer to clean and will clean after the season" We left w/o leaving a tip and wrote on the receipt to let the Manager tip you with the money they are saving by not hiring a cleaning crew. I took photos to show this mess, but no way to post them here on Yelp, but I will keep them if anyone questions this post. My review 1 to 10 stars (1 bad / 10 very good) Atmosphere 2 Food 2.5 Wait Staff 1 Management -10 Cleanliness -100 Will we go back = Never Did they apologize = Nope Would we recommend it = Yes, if we want to make someone angry at us. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I had no choice, had to let the public know. I think they get away with it because they are on the main drag and most people are "passing through" and are not coming back anyway. They know people will just eat and move on and don't come back as they are just travelers. The owners of Pig 'N Pancake should be ashamed and embarrassed and should fire the manager. We figured we kept passing them from time to time so we ought to stop in. Pleasant surprises await. Lots to choose from both on the adult and kids menus. My son got a breakfast staple of chocolate chip pancakes, and a side of bacon. Both gone before we knew it. So that was a winner to say the least. My daughter, who tend to not like breakfasts, tried the silver dollar pancakes. Now this kid USUALLY only likes them from the original pancake place, but LOVED these. I have yet to figure out what the big flavor difference is yet, but im determined. I went with the taco omlet. Taco seasoned ground beef, olives, onions ect. Served with salsa, sour cream and guac. All in all, not bad, i would order this again. I had a choice of hash browns and toast, or 4 pancakes, i chose the hash. Cooked perfectly. The wife was craving blueberry pancakes and this place did not dissappoint. They were cooked perfect, great flavor, and a large portion. She was happy, which meant i was happy. Be warned, this place gets busy fast, but seriously, we had a great meal. Service was good, prices fair, portions excellent. I cant complain. We will stop here again when nearby. read more

ROUGH. This was the worst breakfast I've ever had. Limp flavorless eggs, flavorless low quality fatty sausage, unseasoned white flour "gravy", thick chewy biscuits.... My friend's omelette was a bunch of cold chopped up veggies and lukewarm bacon bits shrouded in thin limp egg with a cold tomato slice on top. Coffee was just hot brown water, no flavor. My wife, son, and I went for breakfast here. As a native Oregonian I have fond memories of eating at the Pig N' Pancake as a kid. This is just the place to go if you are looking for a classic, slightly greasy breakfast. My wife and I both ordered the Biscuit and gravy meal. It comes with egg and choice of breakfast meat. Our son got the kids pancake breakfast. The biscuits and gravy were good. The gravy wasn't all that flavorful but the biscuits were big and fluffy and a little pepper and Tabasco really made it a treat. My wife ordered eggs over medium and she liked them and was happy they were cooked the correct amount. The bacon was great and the sausage was pretty good. The pancakes were delicious. Our son, who is two, was delighted and I swear he ate his own weight in pancakes and bacon. I tasted the pancakes and agreed with his delight. read more

The memories that stick out in my mind most about Pig 'N Pancake are being in Seaside, surrounded by rude parents and screaming children while eating mediocre food. Sure, when you enter, you see that they'd rather squeeze a few more dollars out of you in their "gift shop" than give you a place to wait for your table. Sure, the staff is a little overworked and at times acts like you're just lucky to be allowed to eat here. Sure, it's just a small-chain version of Shari's or Denny's. But . . . the food is pretty good, the service is mostly fine and you're not nearly as crammed in the restaurant as you are in their location to the north. I'd rather have tried a truly local place for breakfast, but I wasn't disappointed by our visit here. read more

I usually love Pig 'N Pancake. Their food is good. Their locations are convenient. And their service is good... well usually. This one failed on the service. Bigtime. We came in around 1:30 ish on a Saturday after just having drove from Portland. There were 4 waiters up front but it took a good 2 or 3 minutes to even be acknowledged and sat down. So we sat down and waited... and waited... I took 15 minutes before we were ackowledged for any other reason except the numerous people asking us if we wanted coffee. 15 minutes is not too long, except that there were only 4 tables seated and a throng of open waitstaff at the front. So we ordered our food, including my child's mac and cheese with a side of fruit. Either their idea of fruit is a 2mm thick orange slice, or they completely forgot to bring it. Then, while we were eating we hear this loud crash. Some poor bus boy had knocked over a tray of mugs shattering damn near 30 of them on the floor (not in the kitchen, but in an area where people could sit.) I don't mind things crashing. It happens. What I did mind was the complete lack of any attention paid to it by anyone other than the poor guy who dropped it. At every other restaraunt I know, if somebody drops glass several people will offer to help and clean it up. Here, not only did no one help, but another bus boy sat down next to the mess and watched the guy clean it up. Not one of the throng of waitstaff chatting at the front even TRIED to see what happened. After all of the other service mistakes, this one really bugged me. I don't really feel like commenting on the food, as I was tired from driving and annoyed with the service (and I had munched a lot while diriving too) so I can't really say I would give an accurate description. Well, the milkshake was good. There was one bright spot. Her name was Ella (or Ellen, or Helen, I don't remember fully). She knew what was going on and of all the throng of waitstaff there she seemed to be the only one who showed she cared to help us. It's a damn shame giving the Pig a 2. I love the chain, but this experience was bad. Hell, my wife and I went to one on our honeymoon (Lincoln City, and we loved it) and because of this she may never let us go back. read more

I am in Newport for my brothers funeral and stopped in for breakfast on our way back home to Michigan. The service is excellent. The waffle I had was a lot thinner than I thought. For the price, I was expecting a fatter waffle...lol. If you get any compote with your waffles or pancakes, it comes cold. If you want warm fruit on your waffles, be sure to ask for them to heat it up. Our waffles were also cold. My sister had to ask to have her waffle heated up. The bacon is wonderful and flavorful. Either swallow it as a lump or spit it out entirely, those are your choices. Which makes a guy feel real good when they just paid that much for their food.
