This cafe is so special because of Myesha the waitress/bartender who makes everybody feel so cared for. She is incredible at connecting to customers and making everyone feel remembered. I started going here when I was charging our Electric Vehicle at the free chargers next store, and I just needed to use the bathroom. But after meeting Myesha I kept coming back and ordering food because she creates such a fun environment that truly feels like a community. The second time I came in she remembered my name and my order. I have only had 1 dish i get it every time - veggie omelette - and it is delicious! I notice tons of customers are regulars and many have told me that their other food items are great too. They also have a full espresso bar and liquor bar with great selection of beers on tap. read more

I went there today with a group of 6 people. When we arrived, there were only 5 other people in the cafe. We just sat there waiting for menus and after 10 minutes went to the front and asked for them. Once we ordered, a few more people came in and received their food well before us. We waited over one hour for our food (sandwiches and salads) - the first couple of orders came after one hour, and the rest came over the next 15 minutes (1 hour and 15 minutes to get all). The staff was disorganized, inefficient, and the sandwiches were cold. Definitely do not recommend. read more

Nice little spot in industrial Swan Island, came here before my 8am shift and they have some pretty good prices! A few "early" specials between 6am-9am like 2 French toast, 2 eggs and 2 bacon/sausage for $7.50... not bad! Server (possibly owner) told us they are closed on weekends but had a weekend party for the Coast Guard complete with karaoke. They have a lil diner side and a bar side, both small and cozy. The presentation was nice but it really lacked flavor. They have deli sandwiches and a daily special as well. They are pretty cheap but don't set your expectations to high. read more

Was treated unfairly and distasteful. The food is amazing and I typically come in multiple times a week to order but the way I was treated has left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm very disappointed. Very mediocre place. They have one waitress busting her hump (Girls Girls) to get everyone taken care of while other workers walked around not doing much. One of the workers was talking to a customer next to me about an injured leg or ankle and when attempting to show the injury to the customer she fell backwards onto me rubbing her ass on my leg. Very unprofessional. Food was basic had a club sandwich and fries. Fries were undercooked and could have made the sandwich at the office and it would have tasted better. I will travel the extra 5 minutes to another place and I can eat without some old women rubbing her ass on me. Only reason this place is getting 3 stars is because of the waitress. I would have never stumbled upon this gem of a cafe if I hadn't had an appointment a stones throw away. It's a nice lunch spot. A few tables, some seats at the bar, pretty much what you would expect. Nothing flashy. Anna was the only one working the front of the house. She was busy getting ready for the after work crowd. I came in during the lull around 3:30. We struck up a conversation about the menu, which meandered around a bit, but finally landed on the tough work involved with running a restaurant. It turns out that she has sold it, and retires in 11 days! She seems to still absolutely love what she's doing, but after 30 years total in the business she knows it's getting to be too much. I've caught whatever little bug is going around at the moment, so when I heard the soup was a Greek chicken, that was without a doubt what I needed. I haven't had much more than toast and juice for a couple of days, so a gyro sounded good to pair with the soup. Everything is made from scratch, and that combo hit the spot! The tzatziki was super flavorful, and I think I had a little extra because I had commented how much I liked it. I took home about half the gyro which will be a perfect snack. The bill was under $9. I can see why she has a loyal following of regulars on the island. The food is satisfying and reasonable, and Anna is absolutely charming. I hope whoever takes over the cafe has the same love and passion for their customers that Anna seems to have. And I hope they keep the recipes, because I would eat that same thing for lunch everyday if I worked around there too. read more

Finally, a place to get yummy food on Swan Island! If you aren't familiar with the island (which is actually a peninsula), it's what they call an industrial park. Pacific Union, Freight Liner, UPS and Fed EX are just a few of the names that occupy the area; along with a Subway and a McDonald's. yay. More like, lame. But not anymore... Now we have Anna's! $5.50 for a gyro basket! Homemade soups! A cappuccino machine! Breakfast! Panini and salads! Burgers and fries! and so much more. If you work down here or close, don't pass it up! This place was not good. We chose to go here for the variety on the menu, and when we there the front door was locked. We went around the back and it was happy hour. We decided to stay and we regretted it. I got the raspberry drink and it was horrible. The service was horrible and the food was OK. The bartender was RUDE and so was our server. Never going back. Now that Shenanigan's has finally, completely died a long, gruesome, protracted death, Anna's is the only place left on Swan Island to getcha drink on. Not surprisingly, as a result, the lounge side of this establishment is invariably far busier than the cafe side. The lounge has a tiny, seedy enclave for video lottery. Shift workers from UPS, Freightliner, et al from there on the island can frequently be seen there, sharing a cold one or two after work is over (hopefully it's afterward!) For a tiny, industrial park cafe, Anna's has a rather large and ambitious menu. The first good thing to know: they serve breakfast all day, 6a-9p. The Second good thing to know: plenty of variety! They have about ten different omelets (not counting build-your-own), 20 different sandwiches/paninis, and about a dozen different burgers to choose from. They frequently offer specials like bbq ribs, which didn't fail to grab my attention! They also maintain a Greek theme for this place, and in addition to offering a robust Greek platter, Greco-omelets and Greco-salads, they have Lamb, Chicken and veggie gyros. They even have Greek spaghetti, which I haven't yet tried, but vow to, some day soon...I'm totally intrigued by the idea. Finally, the third good thing to know is: Anna delivers for free, even on weekends, for orders of at least $50! Anna's also caters, and their #1 client hands down is Freightliner. I found Anna to be highly engaging and interested in her customers. She says she had a diner out in St Helen's for many years, but sold it about 12 years ago to raise her kids. Now that they're all in college, she couldn't resist the call to return to the biz, and has been doin' the dang thang out on Swan Island for 2 and a half years now. Get 'er done, ole girl! read more

I dunno what it's like when Anna herself is there, but when she's not, it's a joke. I already had a bad feeling when the waitress asked of we were ready to order the moment we opened our menus and then returned 30 seconds later to ask again. I ordered a burger and knew things were going further downhill when she didn't ask how I wanted it cooked (great, a hockey puck). I told her that I wanted the burger closer to medium, which appeared to astound her. After a few minutes, the manager on duty walked out of the kitchen and loudly asked over everyone, "who wanted the bloody cooked burger?!" Seriously? There are two tables of diners and you can't figure out which table had what, or even ask the waitress which is who? Wow. He proceeded to tell me all the health department standards and how he has to cook the burger to those standards. At that point I should have canceled my order and went elsewhere as it only got worse. -Fellow diner asked for 1000 island 4 times from 3 different people and each time was told "just a moment." There were only 2 tables with people eating, it wasn't busy. After no dressing had arrived and the meal was mostly finished, fellow diner walked to the kitchen window and asked directly. No help there either. Thousand island arrived too late to be of use. -Overall, the food is bland and forgettable. -The menu is too large and no item is perfected. -Service is BAD. A small place like Anna's should have no problem waiting two occupied tables. Our drinks were never refilled. -Dirty bathrooms. -You'd get better service at McDonald's and that's saying a lot. read more

I really like that there is a place that serves coffee on Swan Island that isn't a huge chain restraunt. However, this place gives small businesses a bad name. I know service in Portland is a little relaxed compaired to other US cities but this place's service is downright pathetic. I am not sure how they stay in business here where most workers are too broke to go out to lunch. Plus, the coffee sucks, especially for Portland. Common, could they at least get decent coffee. The lady that runs the place is super scatter brained, all over the place, disorganized, has terrible taste and barks orders all day at her employees who look both dumbfounded and frazzled. This is so sad that this is the best thing we have down here. Part of the problem is that it takes so long for them to make your food and the interior of the place is so dull and boring, the only thing to do is watch the staff while you wait for your food which is enough to send almost anyone into a full panic attack. The food is decent but WAY overpriced and they use way too much packaging if you get anything to go. No wonder the food is so expensive! Someone said that you would be pushing it on a thirty minute lunch but if you go right at noon, you will be pushing it on an hour lunch (even if you order to go). I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and ten minutes later I heard her arguing with the cashier about how the gal rang it up and whether or not I wanted the cream cheese on the side for 10 minutes before she yelled out to me from another room to ask me (in a snotty tone, no less), if I wanted the cream cheese on the bagel! Then it took so long to make the damn thing, I could just about have gone up to the store, bought the supplies, and made it myself. These people are clueless. read more

While this might normally be a great lunch spot on Swan Island (of which there are few), my experience was very dissatisfactory. I understand that lack of staffing during a rush can be difficult, but when I walked in there were dishes, cups, and food strewn all over most tables and the menus were buried under spilled food on the to go table, while a table was covered in restocking stuff. After ordering a to go sandwich with no tomatoes because of an allergy, I waited and overheard a need for a remake of the sandwich. Yet when I got it and opened it, it was covered in tomatoes yet missing the other condiments, anfd the sandwich was broken into pieces. My soup was lukewarm. From what I saw in the kitchen, the staff was not being sanitary with their food preparation by touching food with bare hands after cleaning surfaces bare-handed and as a former food server I know that it is inappropriate. I hope that others have better service here at Annas. read more
