Place is a bit hard to find. It is in an alleyway but they have free parking for customers so that is a plus. Food was good, tasted very similar to places with similar menu. Ambience was nice and private. Food was decent, pretty pricey for the portion size. Not a bad place but it was also just ok for me. Their onion dip was really creamy and good though

Located along Piikoi Street, Piikoi Steak (now rebranded to Macho Grill) boasts cuts of meat finished on a hot stone plate. The inside is spacious with different dining rooms and is decorated in vintage American dining memorabilia. Each meal option comes with salad, corn, and option of carbs (rice, mashed potato, or bread). I ordered their signature beef steak 7oz with mashed potatoes which was strongly salted and stringy. The mashed potatoes were perfect, and you can add a new side for only 3$. I like that they offer fried garlic right at the table as it's a perfect crunch and flavor to pair with the dishes. The main dining area gets smokey real fast, as it's right next to the kitchen. The ice cream is creamy but more subtle in flavor.

Delicious food, amazing service. Highly recommend!! A little tricky to find...but worth venturing off the beaten path!

Sizzling steak... I put a fork into mine but it wasn't done but a perfect medium rare even as it sits on sizzling hot skillet is how they present it along with a paper cover so that you don't get splattered is a lovely way they put that much though into it is a pleasant service. As I walked into Piikoi Steak I instantly loved the retro vibe along with a cute instagramable neon sign "feed me steak and tell me I'm pretty" is fun and simple decor. The staff all were very polite and friendly as our server constantly checked on us their menu is quite simple as pretty much what it as it's sold as a set choice of meat and side. You can add on toppings and side also though not much when it comes to pairing it with a drink was disappointing. What can I say steak was done perfectly seasoned just right and that's what we were here for but there are a few parking right beside the building or few metered are also available, thank you Terry K it was a lovely place. Thank you!

Food was good and the steak was nicely cooked with good-quality meat. The portions were a little on the small side though, the baguette only came with three thin slices. The biggest downside was the ventilation. There was quite a bit of smoke and grease in the air inside, which made my eyes feel uncomfortable, and our clothes smelled bad afterward. I think the restaurant could really use better ventilation. The floor also felt a little sticky when walking around. Service was good overall, but I found the suggested 20%, 23%, and 25% tip options a bit unreasonable. There is a small parking lot next to the restaurant with about five spaces, so parking is convenient if you can get a spot.

Located on Piikoi Street, this place is in the same area as Ichiriki and Thrills Softserve. Street parking is hard to find so we parked in the open lot across from Side Street Inn. The dining area is small but is decorated nicely with vibrant dopamine colors and eclectic vintage finds. We were super excited as we saw this place on our Instagram feed and had to check it out. The excitement ended with the food. We were super disappointed that it didn't live up to the hype. We ordered the ribeye and it lacked flavor as it was bland and felt dull on the palate. We doused it with the sauce on the table and topped it with garlic chips which made it taste somewhat better. Also, $15 for a side order of 6 - 8 pieces of garlic shrimp. Seriously, I could've gotten more than that at a food truck plus rice and sides. We are definitely foodies that have tried many different steakhouses. This one was a no for me. We will not be returning.

Macho Grill dba Piikoi Steak is located at the corner of Piikoi & Waimanu( think Side Street Inn.) If you arrive early the sandwich board will not be out yet. Don't blink cuz you might have to circle the block like I did. There are a few parking spaces on the right side of the restaurant. They offer steak and pork. They have a lit up sign inside with a cow, pig & chicken so please add chicken on to your menu also. Utensils were in a wooden box on the table- set the table yourself. They provide a nice big hand wipe. All 3 of us ordered their 7 oz steak which came with corn niblets, a side salad, rice, a non-alcoholic beverage and a topping like mashed potatoes, a tiny scoop of grated daikon with ponzu sauce, etc. Remember to try the garlic chips and sauce on the table. They had two kinds of refreshing fruit flavored dessert on a sprinkle of burnt/bitter perhaps chocolate cereal at the end of your meal if you asked but no appetizers to begin with. I think perhaps you must request water. There was none on the table. The set price seemed reasonable. The seasoning was right on. Would be better if they selected a more tender cut of beef to serve their patrons. That would then be a solid 5 star review. Everything else was good and the right portion size for lunch adding dessert on your own or do a review on Instagram. The company you are dining with if not dining solo makes your meal enjoyable. Thank you most generous Yelp Elite Peter Y. for treating Terry K. and I to lunch. Great conversations ranging from trips, future travel, cats, eagles, a monkey and mini remote cars with a dandy dressed feline behind the wheel. Restrooms should you need them are located on the far left of the serving kitchen.

As a steakhouse lover and someone from Japan, I had to check out this Japanese‑style steak restaurant. We came for lunch, and the dining room was pretty quiet. The lunch menu is limited, but straightforward. We ordered the beef steak sets, which came with steak toppings, corn, small cup‑sized salads, white rice, and non‑alcoholic drinks. We also added the house wine. The steaks were cooked exactly as ordered -- medium rare -- but the meat was a bit tough to cut and on the chewy side. The salad was tiny but tasty. The white rice was very good (Japanese‑approved), and the house wine was surprisingly solid. I do wish they offered a bit more variety on the menu, or at least upgraded the steak cut to something like a New York strip or ribeye. Overall, it's a decent and reasonably priced lunch spot. Clean space, attentive service, and a cozy atmosphere. I imagine the experience is a bit different at dinnertime.

My daughter and I went for a late lunch on a Saturday and there were two other parties there Location- it's along Pi'ikoi but it was VERY hard to find. I think I had to circle the block more than 3 times until we found it. I called a couple of times, to ask for land spots or any other clues to help find them. The guy who answered was busy and basically said "just look up the address. Sorry we are busy". Normally if I can't find the place or parking is limited, I would have given up. Because we wanted to try it, we kept trying. The photos on yelp helped us narrow it down. The guy did say they were near Ichiriki and that's when we figured it out. It was actually my daughter's vision that saw the sign. Recommend a bigger sign. The address number "514" is the same color as the wall so that made it more difficult. Parking- we parked in the paid lot (shared by Ichiriki, Thrills, and the other places in that location). There was parking at the side of the building, but it was not clear if it was for Pi'ikoi Steak so I didn't want to risk my car getting towed. Service- when you walk in there's long table for 9-10 people. All the chairs were facing the wall so maybe it's for special parties with someone behind the table helping? Not sure. As you walk in further, there is maybe 6 tables (4 top) and a few counter seats. There was one guy running around. I'm assuming he was the one who answered the phone. He seemed to be doing everything (waiter, delivering food, cleaning up, etc.) so I could see why he said it was busy when I called a few times. There was a lady behind the counter and the chef. The guy was working hard so kudos to him. Food- prices for the lunch menu were decent, inclusive of rice, corn, and your choice of a side and drink. The steak choices were 7oz and 10 oz, additional cost for each ounce. It doesn't say what kind of steak, but I think it could be a skirt steak or hangar steak. It was cooked to medium but some parts were hard to cut and chewy. There's an option to Wagyu but wasn't feeling like spending $90+ on it. Looking back, maybe that was the choice I should have decided on. I chose the garlic cream side and it was good. My daughter chose fries. She semi freaked out it was on the sizzling platter (she didn't want the fries to get soggy from the sauce) so she took it out quickly. The garlic chips is a must if you like garlic. I didn't know what the sauce was so I didn't try it. It didn't have a label nor were we told what it was. Would I come here again? Maybe, but not in the near future. I definitely wouldn't do the steak again. Maybe would try the pork or Wagyu.

Lunch in Honolulu, Hawaii... Piikoi Steak was better than I expected! The service was outstanding. The environment was calm and elegant. The food was beautiful and delicious! Gosh - I didn't even get the server's name... my bad! He was very polite and professional. He was attentive and had great timing. My used dishes were taken away promptly. He checked up on me, offered me a free drink refill, and asked if I had room for homemade dessert... Uh... I'll pass because I had food coma already! This space used to house an upscale restaurant. Reviews state that the decor was kept. I have no idea. I thought that it was pleasant! It could use a bit more air-conditioning... LOL! Steak on a sizzling platter, topped with a cube of butter was quite appealing! I consumed everything... the fresh green salad, all of the corn kernels, slivers of onion, grains of rice, and bits of mashed potato... yum! That steak sauce and garlic chips were very tasty and added more flavor to the steak! The meat was tender and juicy! If I went back, I'd try the pork, out of curiosity. I didn't get it because the place is Piikoi "Steak"!

The steak here is insanely good. It's perfectly buttery with just the right amount of peppery flavor. I loved that it's served on a hot stone sizzling plate, it stays warm and makes the whole experience feel a little extra. Service was also super quick, which I appreciated. The mashed potatoes were creamy and comforting, and the steak sauce paired really well with everything. It's a bit on the pricier side, but honestly not bad for a simple, solid steak meal. Definitely worth it if you're craving something satisfying without all the fuss.

This was my 1st time trying Piikoi Steak and I have to say it was an amazing experience. Located across from Ala Moana next to Side Street Inn, they have three stalls next to the restaurant and a parking structure across the building. I didn't know what to expect going in but the interior is simple and upscale. Luckily we came early and were seated immediately. Our server Sheva was upbeat and friendly. She explained the menu and also gave us tips on how best to enjoy the food. Their menu consists of either a 7oz or 10.5oz Beef Steak or Pork Chop, or a combination of the two. Each option comes with salad and a choice of either Japanese Rice, Mashed Potatoes or Baguette. We ordered the 10.5oz steak, 10.5 oz pork chop, mashed potatoes, Japanese rice, whipped garlic cream, pineapple sorbet and vanilla bean ice cream. They recommend the steak be rare or medium rare because it comes out on a hot plate and continues to cook as you eat. The steak was so tender and pairs well with the whipped garlic cream and steak sauce. The pork to me was tender but needed more seasoning. Next time we will order two steaks instead. The mashed potatoes are silky smooth and more neutral in flavor to contrast against the flavorful steak and accompaniments. I highly recommend adding garlic chips to the mashed potatoes to add an extra crunch and kick. Their sorbet and ice cream comes with homemade cornflake cereal that adds the perfect crunch. The pineapple sorbet is surprisingly creamy for a sorbet, super refreshing and not tart. Their vanilla ice cream is smooth and you can taste the vanilla bean. 10/10 will definitely come again!

Overall rating: Service: 10/10 Ambiance: 10/10 Food: 10/10 Me and my friends had a good time at Piikoi Steak House. Hopefully they'll continue this business since I heard this is a pop up restaurant. There's only one sever but she very friendly and attentive. They have a simple menu. All the meal comes with a set with salad and rice/mashed potato or baguette. I picked mashed potato and it tastes very smooth and creamy. The beef steak and pork chop steak are very tender and juicy. I would highly recommend this steak house.

We both ordered the ribeye steak, mashed potato, asparagus and fried rice. Both ribeye steaks were cooked to the exact doneness. The size of the ribeye steak was pretty big. Our server, Elijah did an excellent job answering any questions and was very attentive to what we ordered. When the meals came in. He even asked to double check the doneness of the steak by cutting it right down the middle and it was cooked to perfection. I don't remember the last time I went to a steak restaurant other than my birthday, so it's very rare to go to a restaurant and order steak. So this was a large treat to me. This restaurant was very busy luckily we just wanted a seating for two even though they asked if we had a reservation and we didn't so we got lucky.

Our…read morereservation was for 5:00 p.m., during the restaurant's advertised happy hour, which runs until 7:00 p.m. Before arriving, we had looked at the happy hour menu online and assumed those selections would be available during that time. We were seated in the dining room and ordered drinks, but no one mentioned that happy hour was restricted to a different seating area. It was only after we received the dinner menus, noticed the happy hour selections were missing, and specifically asked our waiter about them that we were told the happy hour menu could not be ordered in the dining area. By then, we had already ordered our drinks at full price. I think this is something the restaurant should make much clearer on its website and during the reservation and seating process. If a 5:00 p.m. reservation places guests in an area where the advertised happy hour does not apply, that should be disclosed before they are seated, or at minimum before they begin ordering. The difference affects not only price, but also the food selections available and the overall dining experience. Our group was actually a little stumped by the regular dinner menu because the options were much more limited than what we had been looking at online. I asked specifically about the Scallops Dynamite because I do not tolerate spicy food well. I told our waiter that I did not like spicy food, and he explained that the dynamite sauce could be served on the side and that the scallops themselves were basically seasoned with seeds. Unfortunately, even without the sauce, the scallops were extremely spicy. I could barely eat them. The heat was intense enough that I drank my entire glass of water and then much of my daughter's trying to cool my mouth. When the waiter came back and asked how everything was, I told him directly that I could not eat the scallops because they were far too spicy. He smiled and walked away. There was no offer to replace them, remake them without the spicy seasoning, suggest another entrée, or even acknowledge that the dish was not what I had been led to expect. That was probably the most disappointing part of the experience. At a restaurant at this price point, where many items are à la carte, I would expect the staff to be more attentive to whether a guest can actually enjoy the meal, especially after the guest specifically asked about the spice level before ordering. There was also a smaller moment that reflected the overall lack of attention to detail. Our guest of honor arrived wearing two leis, and the waiter immediately said, "Happy Birthday." He had to correct him and explain that he was actually leaving the islands. A more polished approach would have been something simple like, "Are we celebrating anything special tonight?" It could just as easily have been a birthday, promotion, retirement, anniversary, or farewell. I dine out and travel frequently, so I understand that not every meal or service interaction will be perfect. But several things missed the mark here, and together they changed what should have been a special farewell dinner. We will not be returning, but I do hope management takes the feedback constructively, particularly regarding clearer disclosure of the happy hour seating restrictions and how staff respond when a guest clearly cannot eat the dish they ordered. My advice for first time diners is ask where you will be seated if you're hoping for a full menu option during happy hour. The website is misleading.

We couldn't decide if eating it with chopsticks or spoon was better. With chopsticks, you might not get enough sauce. But you could taste the layers of flavor. With a spoon, you get too much saltiness. The spice hits at the end. The tako karaage were a little too chewy for us. Beef tongue was so tender. A definite must order. I dont think it needs rice though. We also ordered the late night nikumiso but it didn't come with an egg, which the menu said it should. We tried handful more items but we'll be back to try the oxtail items, as it sounds like that's their specialties, but takes extra time to prepare.
