Margaritas were delicious ! Though an expensive plate, it is jam-packed ! The meal was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed my time here ! Our server was quiet and seemed impatient at times, which was definitely noticed. Aside from our service this day, I enjoyed rio grande !

Merek Jeter is a 10/10 server. Great speed. Very fast. Very strong. Big biceps. She recommended the chicken tacos so naturally I ordered pork. Mmm the pork was so good.

Fun little place tucked away near the U of U. The ambiance was great & service was fair. I think they're a little low on staff as there were many tables open, but a 45 min wait when we arrived. Food was adequate & came out hot. A bit on the pricey side - par for the area. Definitely somewhere to try once for the nostalgia of the area, but not something I'd go out of my way for.

Ok so what was good. It's a cool place, the interior is really nice, great atmosphere, comfortable and spacious seating. The food? It was fine. I don't know how Mexican food got to be more expensive than sushi, but for $20 I was expecting more. It wasn't bad at all, but I just don't think the cost justifies the quality and quantity. It tasted like almost every other Tex-Mex place I've been to, it was good. But I don't think I'd go back just because of the cost and limited parking.

So good my friends cant stop eating

Great food and even better service!! Me and my friends come every weekday for snow caps and nachos!!! I love when mitch is our server! He is super super awesome and the greatest service we've ever had!!!!

Mitch was a great server. The service was amazing. He didn't even have to write down our order!! I would recommend

I got charged $9 per individual taco! Rio Grande's building is an old station. I would say that's the best part of this restaurant & don't recommend the food for the price. Staff have tough moments and I was totally fine with the waitress forgetting water or spilling the soup a bit. But, I was already on a tight budget and my check went, what I was assuming to be a $20 check, to a $35 check. I had the waitress check twice and said the check was correct. It completely embarrassed me and ruined my day because what I saw in the menu didn't not compute to the check I recieved. This makes Rio Grande the bottom of my list.

Absolutely our most favorite Mexi restaurant ever. Excellent service from Gage most recently. Love the ambiance and the different seating area options. Fabulous flavor. Great chips. I had the Chicken Flautas 5 and my husband had the Flauta Taco Grande. Also 5.

Rio Grande Cafe has been a staple of the SLC dining experience since they were located at the old Rio Grande train station. Now up on the hill next to the U, they are in a gorgeous converted fire station. Amazing location, that would be a great place to show off to out of town family/friends. Delicious Mexican food, and brunch on the weekends. Stellar option if catching a game at the Huntsman or Rice Eccles. Various beers on tap with a full bar as well. Myself or guests have never had a complaint on the food or service provided.

I grew up going to the Rio Grande Cafe every Friday night with my family starting 30 years ago when it was located downtown. At 17, it was where I got my first job. I was thrilled to hear it was being saved from closing and transferred to the east side. However I was nervous about the new owners possibly altering it from what made the Rio great. The Rio is just as great as it used to be and I seek to visit every time I'm in town. Even though they no longer have the original burritos on the menu, Joaquin and the kitchen team did a fantastic job making sure we could enjoy them again like old times. Great service, great ambiance, and great food. Thank you for preserving the old Rio!

Mexican food does not get any better than this. The freshest, most delicious salsa on earth. The halibut tacos were also outstanding.

They were ready for us when we arrived and sat us downstairs, which was really cool! The vibe and esthetic of the entire restaurant was pretty unique. The booth chairs were very soft, and a little uncomfortable compared to the table height as you sink into them. Our waitress was kind, but had a weird attitude. Someone ordered an Americano (from the menu) to which she said they didn't have espresso... she ended up bringing the Americano to him without any explanation. It was just a little odd. Someone ordered the deviled eggs as an appetizer, and they were good, but I wouldn't order them again. A lot of people ordered the burger, which was overcooked for almost every person and definitely didn't seem like wagyu beef. The steak sandwich I got (pictured) was good, but it came with lettuce that had really long stems. I don't particularly enjoy eating stems, so that's as annoying. The rest of my food was delicious. ESPECIALLY the garlic aioli. I could drink that stuff! The cost did seem fair for the quality of food, but a few adjustments could be made to the cook and such. We enjoyed our time and I will definitely go back! Hopefully for some drinks next time!

The prices were very reasonable! Drafts were $7 and some cocktails were $11. The bartenders were super friendly and polite and talented! I really enjoyed watching them prepare five drinks at once without loosing a beat! The music was also great! They were rocking early 2000s jams. I ordered their penecilin cocktail which had ginger, honey, coconut and lemon with whiskey and it was delicious!! Everyone else enjoyed their drinks and we had a great time!

In full transparency it has been 2-3 years since my first and last visit to Water Witch. I noticed this in my drafts and thought I should complete my review. That said, I think I hyped this place up in my head too much before my visit because of the James Beard nod. So when it didn't quite hit the mark for me, I was disappointed. It's quite an intimate bar. By that I mean small space inside. The main bar has seating of course and there are a few seating areas directly behind the barstool area. There is a small walkway that separates the bar and the seating area. So the seating area is looking straight forward at the bartenders and the backs of people on barstools. I felt like the people behind me were staring into my soul lol, but that's a me problem ha. It's a modern design and beautifully decorated. I had two drinks. One from the menu and one that I told the bartender what I liked and disliked. He then made a drink based upon my taste. In my opinion it tasted similar to the one from the menu, which was disappointing because I was hoping for something different. There was one bartender that evening and one bar back, so even with the few people at the bar (I'd say 6-7 including me and a guest) and the 4 people seated behind us. It took some time to get his attention and order a drink. Which is part of the reason I only had two drinks. I would probably give this place another try since it's been some time since I've been there. As I always like to say. Stop in and judge for yourself.

Unfortunately, the start wasn't ideal. We sat for over 1t minutes without anyone checking on us, brining water, or even acknowledging our table. Since it was hot outside's I started with an ice-cold House Blonde beer, which hit the spot. Has another and then tried the Grilled Pina cocktail, and it was fantastic. We skipped the appetizers, although several sounded tempting. For my entree, I ordered one of the four recommended dishes the Branzino Al Pastor. The sea bass was flavorful and cooked well, and I really enjoyed it. The only downside was that it had quite a few bones. I'd recommend asking for it to be deboned beforehand. Aside from one other guest who left early, it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Instead of awkward, it made the night feel intimate and relaxed. We ended up chatting with both the bartender and the kitchen staff, who were warm, friendly, and great at what they do. The drinks were a standout. Creative, beautifully made, and delicious. The bartender even whipped up a few off‑menu cocktails for me, and the best of the night was their matcha martini, which he said he created himself. It was incredible.
