Jenna helped me regain and improve my strength postpartum, and build the strength I needed to keep up with a toddler. I'd previously been prone to injury when attending group exercise classes or working out on my own, but Jenna has helped me to recognize how to work from the correct core muscles and avoid these problems. I have now been working with Jenna through my second pregnancy and I can confidently say that I feel I am in much better shape going into labor this time. I had significantly less back pain with the second pregnancy, and was able to keep up my exercise routine much longer. I also appreciate how closely Jenna has worked with me to make adjustments for my changing body and to accommodate my specific needs. I purchased a 10 class pass ($120) and out of the 4 times I went for a class after work, 2 of the times no instructor showed up. I learned from talking to one of the regulars while we were waiting outside, that one of those failed times was supposed to have been taught by the manager. That's just bad! This place is just one tiny room (no receptionist) so if the instructor doesn't show up then you're locked outside. The other 2 classes I did end up going to weren't bad. I'm not a super yogi person and started to try it when I started having neck/back issues to see if that helped. A positive is that one of the instructors Yuki was really good at getting you to have the right form and having the right alignment. It was to the point that doing child's pose and downward dog was actually not easy! Anyway because I have the 10 class pass, I'm going to make more attempts and hopefully will be more successful.

Back for Yoga offers various kinds of yoga. The vinyassa flow class with Maureen is my favorite. She'll get you long an lean. I've also tried the traditional hatha, yin yoga, and restorative yoga. There really is a yoga class to meet everyone's needs here. All the instructors are wonderful. They really take their time to make sure everyone is doing it right and has the accommodations they need. My back was in bad shape after a car accident, and Maureen my instructor always modified posses for me. I really credit her for getting my back strong. What's even better is they offer a teacher sampler pack where you can try all the instructors for $5! They also offer 10 classes for $100 or 20 classes for $150. For the quality of instruction the price cannot be beat. I love this place!

Chess Fitness (Jenn & Marco) changing my life. I'm a 57-year-old male who played high school sports…read morebut was inconsistent in my physical fitness in my 20, 30's and early 40's. I have worked out with several trainers in the last 10 years and when I moved to Manhattan Beach recently was dreading having to replace my long-time trainers. I got lucky in finding Chess Fitness and Jenn, Marco and the team. Jenn has deep experience training pro athletes, keeping them healthy and fixing them when they get injured. I have shoulder, hip, and calf issues and Jenn is guiding me as I fix these to be the best shape that I've been in since my mid-20's!  I'm playing tennis again, running 10ks and moving so much better. Jenn is business-like (sets expectations) but is very real. She meets me where my body is, has taught me really effective warm-up exercises and pushes me with demanding circuits. Chess' small group lessons are highly effective and cost-effective. The energy is supportive and results are flowing!  Happy to serve as a reference if anyone wants.
