A mandatory stop if you're a coffee lover! We learned a lot about coffee on the self guided walking tour. Afterward you are able to sample seasonal and permanent Hawaiian Coffee Blends. Allll were delicious. I'm not a black coffee drinker but the way this 100% pure Hawaiian Coffee is prepared is smooth like butter! The cafe onsite also offers smoothies and ice creams. We didn't have a chance to stop by the shop but there is one. Parking is easy, no reservations are needed. Just make sure to check their hours as Aloha Fridays places close early! There is a fun photo op with the large Kauai Coffee Mug on the lawn. Thankful for that space as my kids had somewhere to run around and get some energy out instead of being bored as we tasted coffee. Your tour starts at the welcoming gift shop for free coffee tasting, purchasing souvenirs, beginning of train or walking tour. Arrived at Kauai Coffee Plantation early afternoon after going to Waimea canyon. This is the largest coffee plantation in the US! Plenty of parking and easy access to the shop and free coffee samples. Today they nine different types to sample. All were tasty although our favorite was the espresso dark roast. The person serving the coffee samples was friendly and knowledgeable, sharing details about each sample. It was a relaxing and pleasant experience. We did try the Kauai Pea coffee which is made from coffee beans that are not split or grown to two beans. The Pea bean comes from the same plants as the traditional split bean and must be sorted. We enjoyed it, had a slightly smoother flavor but it's hard to justify the 2x price. We also enjoyed the self guided tour of the grounds which took only 20 minutes. Definitely a fun experience. This was our second visit here and we stopped on our way back from visiting Waimea Canyon. We got a couple of drinks, a fruit bar and scone. They also handed out small cups of coffee samples. All of the employees showed us lots of aloha and seemed genuinely happy to be there. My kids and I did the self guided tour then headed to the gift shop where we bought t-shirts, stickers, espresso cups and whole bean coffee. Great for a quick stop for a day trip around the island! Stopped by around noon, and an iced coffee was the perfect solution to a warm sunny day. The employees were very welcoming, offering free samples of their different blends. I ended up picking up a bag of coffee beans and the chocolate covered peaberries -- so yummy and highly recommend! The first time we visited the Kauai Coffee Company, it had yet to be widely available on the mainland. Now their product is available everywhere, and this location in central Kauai is now the biggest coffee farm in the United States. My wife and I were in the area, so stopped in for a visit between breakfast and lunch time. The stop became an enjoyable visit. We were the first ones there, so waited in the large parking lot for it to open by 09:00. Inside the visitor center, there is a sampling table (choice of 4 coffee flavors), a gift shop, a small museum, and a cafe while the outside has a self-guided walking path. All are free to enter/use. Nothing in the retail store interested us, but we did share a coffee float ($5.99) made from two scoops of macadamia nut ice cream and Kauai cold brew. It took a bit of time for it to be made, but it was really, really good. Actually thought about getting another one while we walked the outside, but thought better of it. The outside walk takes about 25 minutes to complete, if stopping to read all signs (less than 10 signs) and actually admire each outdoor display. We came in late April, so the coffee plants still had their flower blooms which was a cool sight. Later, we discovered and completed a Pokemon Go route, forever etching our visit and walk into the game. Even then, our entire visit took less than 90 minutes. read more

I sadly just learned that Kauai Coffee Company is shutting down due to a VC purchasing the land they sit on and now terminating their land lease agreement with Kauai Coffee Company. I would get into how this is another example of how VC's destroy various industries and are massive contributors to ever-increasing cost of living, but this review would get too long. For now while Kauai Coffee Company is still open, I HIGHLY recommend everyone stop by while you can to visit them. The admission is free, and they offer paid tours or you can opt to do your own self-tour for free. We found the self-guided tour more than sufficient as there are signs all over the place showing you where to go and descriptions of what you are seeing. They have samples in the multiple gift shops on the property which is nice to be able to try the different flavors available. Prices are definitely high however, and most of the items for sale can be found in ABC stores or more cheaply at Costco. I recommend only buying specialty flavors and unique merchandise that you won't be able to find elsewhere when looking for gifts to bring back home. Kauai Coffee Company has been producing coffee since 1987. And it's truly sad to see such an established and respected business potentially go under due to a real estate grab. Although unlikely at this point, hopefully some last min miracle will happen before next month that will allow Kauai Coffee to continue their operations here. read more

Kauai coffee is literally one of my favorite coffees, but I've never actually visited the local farm here on Kauai until now. We made the trek down to the Kauai coffee farms and took a self-guided tour, which was free. It goes through the process of making the coffee. There's also a small coffee museum, and they have coffee sampling in which you can try a lot of their different varieties, including the Peaberry, flavored Kauai coffees, and even the Kauai blue Mountain which is their blue Mountain coffee similar to the Jamaican blue Mountain coffee, which is supposedly one of the finest coffees in the world and even served at the White House. The Kauai blue Mountain was my favorite! There is a gift shop to buy Kauai coffee merchandise along with coffee and they do offer a 15% kamaina discount! The staff here was super friendly. Shirley was dispensing the coffee samples, and Ruby was behind the counter in the coffee shop in which we ordered the coffee of the day, and got the coffee ice cream. read more

There was no better choice we made during our honeymoon than booking a tour with Kaua'i Coffee Company. The tour itself was conducted on a really cool converted truck with safari style, open air seating, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Our tour guide, Lisa, was absolutely incredible. My wife and I are both huge coffee lovers, and getting the chance to see where the magic happens gave us an entirely new level of appreciation for the coffee we drink every day. The tour was informative, relaxing, and genuinely fascinating from start to finish. We would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Kauai. As an added bonus, taking the tour also gave us a nice discount on coffee and gift shop products afterward. We would gladly come back again in the future, that is, if it is still around! Just a short drive from the city of LIHUE. It's great because it's a free tourist attraction of one of Kauai's best exports. A famous coffee house in Hawaii open for free tours. We visited there on a Monday a bit before noon. The place was already crowed with tourists. The main structure held a gift shop, a free sampling of their coffees area plus an open platform. The site was near the edge of its coffee plantation so you could wonder into the rows of coffee shrubs and examined the individual plant up close. Most of the plants had only flowers at the time. The place is a bit remote and you need to rent a car to get there. One suggestion is that you might want to curb your desire to buy coffee beans there. You get a much better bargain of the same coffee bean at Costco in Honolulu! read more

Love this place! Being from Seattle I am an avid coffee lover. I come here every time I'm on Kauai, and even made it twice on this most recent trip. The blended decadence is unbeatable, and the affogato is also outstanding. I love that if you order a coffee of the day that you can fill it up from any of the carafes that they are sampling from. Walking around the estate and through the small museum is lovely, just make sure you plan ahead for shopping since you can't enjoy your drinks in the gift shop. We opted to do the free tastings and there was barely a difference between the roasts except the barrel aged brew which had fruity-floral notes and a distinct smell. I highly suggest tipping the server since they are running a tasting for everyone at once and still providing a history of each coffee. The samples were fantastic, a great way to experience the different coffees. We bought an iced coffee and a macadamia nut ice cream affogato. The affogato was my favorite, super good! We stopped by here after visiting Waimea Canyon. This coffee estate covers a huge area, and as you drive in, you can see the coffee plantations along the road. Most of the beans they offer have bright, acidic flavor notes, which aren't really my favorite -- I personally prefer Kona or Big Island coffee. This place was fun. They offered a safari tour but not on Monday. We got to taste all the coffee's and they were all different, unique and great. They had a lil video on that explained how they do what they do (in case you missed a tour). They also had a quick self guided tour. Just follow the yellow brick road...er I mean path .
