Pillars Cafe is an eatery that is part of the Shepherds Church complex in Porter Ranch. It has short hours, generally 8 am to 2:00 pm and serves a very limited menu of breakfast and lunch items. There are also a small variety of baked goods (croissants, muffins, etc), cold, hot and coffee drinks. It is also a Christian religious book store, that has other gift items for purchase. The dining areas are spacious and encompass both comfortable outdoor and indoor spaces. I happened to get there after the breakfast cut off (11 am), so I had to choose from the lunch menu. My choice was the classic cheeseburger (Angus beef patty, shredded lettuce, tomato, house pickle, onion,cheddar, 1,000 island, brioche bread) at $10.50, with fries (additional $4.50). The burger was well prepared, juicy, not over cooked, tasty and skillfully constructed. What stood out was the thick fresh moist tomato that imparted flavor with every bite. The fries were over priced and a disappointment. Same for the service, which was hurried, indifferent and in need of more refinement. What a lovely to have meal. Yes it's on a church campus. But it's not a church cafe if that makes sense, like they're not going to preach to you or anything like that. But you will most likely see people doing bible study or something like that on their own. The food is solid and is priced fairly with plenty of options on the menu. There is also plenty of seating options both inside and outside on a first come first served basis. I got the spicy chicken sandwich. The guy taking my order warned me that it was spicy but it wasn't spicy at all to me. So I was fine. Unfortunately my sandwich was burnt, but I was able to eat it with plenty of sauce to mask the burnt flavor. We also got fries to share, but they tasted like they were made with old grease. My friend got a beef sandwich which was huge. She liked it but could only eat half. Even though my food wasn't perfect I feel like it was just a one off. I've been there years ago and had a good meal. She's also been there a few times and she enjoyed it as well. There is plenty of parking on weekdays as long as there are no church events. Located on the Shepherd Church grounds, this cafe is large and clean. We ordered the Chef's Special, which was not good, the sausage didn't taste like sausage and it was hard. The potatoes didn't have any flavor and weren't even hot. The only good thing on that plate was the eggs. We also got the breakfast burrito, but it was too oily. For drinks, we had the Mocha and a Matcha Latte, and they didn't meet our expectations. They were so weak we ended up feeling sleepy before the afternoon, they definitely need more caffeine. read more

I have visited Pillars several times, especially on the weekend and considering how busy it is and the line that forms there is typically not a long wait for the food. I wasn't very hungry I was looking for more of a snack and got the tater tots. The environment is very much a cafe. There are tables with chairs, couches with coffee tables, high top table, and books/items for purchase. Taking my order was simple. They call out your name when your order is ready. The tater tots were warm and crispy with just enough salts. The sauce added flavor but they could be eaten without them. There is seating inside and outside and is a one of the several couches that is available. There is also water cups near the counter. Looking forward to trying more items here. read more

Just had lunch today at Pillars. This is cute cafe on the grounds of Shepherd Church. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing. There are inside and outside tables for sitting. The employees were very nice and accommodating at the time we were there. The food is very good also. I had the loaded veggie sandwich (very tasty) and a decaf americano coffee, also good. It's on the campus of a mega church - clearly a church that is doing well with their weeky offerings - there are 4-5 star hotels that don't have as impressive structures as this place. Pillars is on one end of the mega complex; a nice space to eat, and their prices are excellent. The kids working there are very nice. I had the breakfast burrito which I found to be quite salty and with some mystery meat I couldn't quite place. And it took forever for the food to come out. So probably not a place I'll be going back to for a cooked meal. Might be a better option for coffee and and a pastry. read more

Ordered a sandwich at 13:50, girl on the phone told me it'll be ready in 10 minutes, I arrived at 14:05, the cashiers/workers locked the doors and when I tried to talk to them they completely ignored me. Literally made eye contact with the worker and she didn't even bother to have any sort of communication. I suggest management to rethink about the employment of said workers (I don't know their name). This is absolutely unacceptable. I wasted gas just to come here. On the phone the girl did not tell me that they're closing in 10 minutes (the time when the sandwich was ready for pick up according to her). I'd like to add that as someone who works in food service, when you close a place, you close the orders, you don't physically lock the place immediately as you need to do a proper closing (cleaning) and also allow diners to finish their food / let customers pick up their orders that were made before closing time. Absolutely love this place! Actually didn't realize when I first went here that it was at shepherd but was pleasantly surprised. The food is literally like restaurant 5 stars chef quality. I got a braised beef sandwich and it was so good!! The veggies were all cooked to perfection and the sauce and the meat and everything combined was lovely. The breakfast burrito is so yummy! Fries were superb, nice and crunchy ! And so was my latte! No combos here, everything is a la carte... Now for the review , Honestly I've never been more grossed out in my life: the steak was literally slivers of the juices that Cook to a slimy consistency but you're really not meant to eat just toss away and the whole sandwich was filled with it. The staff is wonderful. They are like family. The bakery stuff is so good especially the chocolate chip cookies. They remember my coffee order & they stock up on the lavender syrup which is the best. This breakfast spot is very cute, it's on the same property as a large church. Prices are really affordable, with everything on the breakfast menu around $9, even the breakfast burrito! I was expecting a small serving for that price but it was honestly huge I couldn't even finish it. Flavor was only okay though, chicken chorizo wasn't the best but the burrito tasted freshly made. Hidden gem and Porter Ranch. Perfect spot to meet up with some friends for Saturday morning coffee. Inside the cafe there is an retail shop area of religious books and inspirational gifts. There was quite an nice menu for food options and drinks. Prices were mid range. I ordered the tater tot's and a chai latte. The tots were a real treat I can't remember the last time I had tater tots. It was a very large serving that I was able to share with my friends. My Chai latte was delicious unfortunately they didn't offer soy milk. Be mindful of the hours of the café as they have morning hours and then they close for the afternoon and re-open in the evening during the time of services at Shepherd Church. I encourage you if you have been looking for a place to worship the shepherd church offers many services at different times during the day online and in person. Definitely will come back. I had a really great chance to come here a couple times. Once during revival where I just had a regular coffee and the second where I got a mocha chiller and the chicken tenders. The drinks and food were really good! I will say I think they make their ranch in house, but it taste too much like dill. I'm very peculiar about my ranch! LOL overall, really good menu. We wanted to try a new coffee spot and this one came up in our recommended list. We started driving till we realized we didn't really know where it was. We checked out the map and we're pretty familiar with the area but it looked like it was in the church? Turns out it was at the huge shepherd church. We pulled into the driveway and didn't realize it was Sunday and it was paaaaacked. We drove around trying to find parking and finally found a squishy one but managed to fit in right in front of the coffee shop! We walked on in and only one person in line ahead of us! As soon as we ordered, we sat down and waited and that's when the storm rolled in. I guess it was right when mass ended so the line ended up being out the door!! Can't believe how popular this cafe is but again it's a huge church. We waited a bit and our food was ready. I got the iced hazelnut latte which was served immediately and tasted great. Had the perfect amount of cream and sugar so I didn't need to make any changes which I loved! My bf got the French toast and a side of potatoes. The French toast was a bit dry, nothing crazy and it was just ok. The potatoes were nicely cooked and salted but definitely needed some kind of ketchup or dip because it was also a bit dry. I love this place and the menu options. On Sunday mornings, since there's church, parking is kinda crazy but other than that most days there's plenty of parking at the church. It's not all crazy and busy like any other place. It felt open and welcoming. I'd ordered the protein bowl and Philly hoagie. Also a chocolate croissant and Latte. Totaled to $38 (including tips). The portion is very good and the price is reasonable for the quality. Although the pastries is dry and felt stale, everything else is so good. I'm pleasantly surprised and will be back. read more

This is a great place to meet up or get work done. Plenty of seating and not too loud. The service is friendly. So far I haven't tried their food, but I heard it's good. I tried the iced Americano and it was good, though not fantastic if you are picky about your coffee. Another plus is the parking.
