My husband was in the mood for a little hole-in-the-wall place, and I didn't know of any, so I randomly picked this one. I'd say I scored some major points with him! Great food, service an awesome playlist, and we grabbed seats at the bar. Sometimes the best memories come from the places you find by chance. Enjoyed meeting the owner and hearing all about their delicious coffee from his country Guatemala near lake Atitlan!

I love diners and am glad this place is still around. Was craving a waffle this week and decided to stop by Joyce's coffee shop in northridge since it was on the way. I had a blueberry waffle, bacon and eggs. Customer service was great, this was my second or third time dining here and my experience has always been positive. Note: this is a cash only establishment

Great breakfast nook in small, old fashioned diner with original interior decor on Reseda blvd. Attentive, experienced, hardworking staff exhibit warm and friendly service with the utmost professionalism. My coffee, pancake, over easy egg, strip of bacon and sausage link was about as good as they get, and they hit the spot. A minor miscommunication turned into an outstanding, memorable and above and beyond experience: Their "Joyce's Special" was 2 of everything. I asked my server if they offered a junior option, and at first she hesitated, but then she realized they did it's just not called that. She did point out the price which I was too excited to notice, and approved my junior option. The food was great, and the experience was great. I paid $25 tax and tip, and noticed that their banner advertising their "Special" said it was $14.99 for 2 pancakes, 2 sausages, 2 strips, 2 eggs. I then asked my server to show me again which menu option I had chosen, and indeed it was what I got, for about $13.50. And that's when I realized why the plate I did not get was called "Special". It was 2x what I got for $1.50 more. And the server did note it, I just didn't catch the heads up. After confirming my error, I simply said "now I know for next time". The next thing I know, my sweet server starts counting cash, and then hands my a bunch of money and apologized. I was not asking for nor expecting that. It was MY oversight. I need to be better about what I buy before I actually buy it. I was so touched by the gesture that I immediately declined. I was there to support small, local business, I was there to get tasty food with great service and I got exactly that. My price oversight was MY fault. I asked her to split my refund among the staff. 5 stars.

We love this hidden gem! My husband and I recently moved to Northridge from Granada Hills and always enjoy exploring the mom and pop spots in our neighborhood. We love supporting our community and finding places that are unique and delicious compared to big chains. We pass by this place all the time on our way to CSUN to walk our dogs, and we finally decided to come in last year. So glad we did. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming, and the food is consistently delicious. They offer weekly specials, and some of the best meals I've had here have been from those. I also had the chance to speak with the owner, who shared that she and her husband own the café and source their coffee from their own farm in Guatemala. The coffee is incredibly smooth and honestly one of my favorite parts of coming here. Joyce Café has been part of Northridge for over 50 years, which makes it feel even more special. I also love the old photos of the Valley displayed on the walls. It adds such a nostalgic and local touch. Do not leave without trying a slice of pie. They're all good, but my personal favorite is the cherry. Just a heads up, they close at 3pm and are cash only, but they do have an ATM on site. Overall, we love this place and highly recommend it. We come here often and will be back!

*Please note before you go: This place is CASH ONLY!!* I went to Joyce's for brunch with family. The service was great, our waiter was attentive and it was a welcoming environment. We were lucky and were seated right away. I decided to try Joyce's special breakfast and hot tea. The breakfast special comes with two bacon, two sausage links, two scrambled eggs, and two pancakes for $14.99. The hashbrowns were perfectly crispy and were my favorite part of my plate. The sausage links were nothing special, just regular ones you'd buy at the grocery store. The bacon strips sadly tasted too much like cooking oil. The pancakes were good but were ones that I can get at any diner. Maybe I ordered the wrong plate? I'll order their waffle or a savory plate next time to see if it's better. Overall, a nice environment and wonderful staff but the food didn't stick out to me.

Plant-based patty melt and crisp sweet potato fries.

This is the kind of coffee shop I grew up going to in Los Angeles and I am so delighted to have just recently discovered it. The food was very good--great tasting, generous portions--and both classic coffee shop offerings and updated to accommodate newer tastes. I had an amazing Patty Melt with plant-based ground beef! The servers and all staff I encountered were truly friendly, not just repeating prepared pleasantries. Just a wonderful place. Also good prices and refills!

A True Hidden Gem - Worth Every Bit! After hearing about Joyce's Coffee Shop for what felt like forever, we finally made it in and wow, it did not disappoint. This place has been serving breakfast and lunch since 1955, and the moment you walk in, you feel it. The classic diner setting is warm, nostalgic, and completely unpretentious - exactly what a neighborhood spot should be. The food was absolutely amazing. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. It's the kind of meal that reminds you why you love a good diner breakfast. The coffee was a standout highlight - sourced from a Guatemalan farm, it was rich, smooth, and honestly one of the better cups we've had in a long time. What really made the experience though was the staff. Everyone was genuinely kind and friendly - the kind of warmth that makes you feel like a regular on your very first visit. A couple of helpful tips for first-timers: Joyce's is cash only, but don't let that catch you off guard - there's an ATM on-site. Also, parking can seem tricky at first glance, but there's plenty of parking in the back. We will absolutely be back, and we can't recommend this place highly enough. If you haven't been yet, make it happen!

Joyce's Coffee Shop in Reseda really cheered me up after a rough night. I had the California Benedict with hash browns and half an order of French toast--everything had perfectly balanced flavors and was cooked just right. The portions were generous, and the presentation made it feel like a little treat. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the cozy atmosphere makes it a great spot to relax or reset your day. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

Ok, so when a coffee shop boasts 'best pancakes in the Valley' carbs be damned, Imma goin' in! Went with a simple Short Stack combo: 2 eggs, 2 bacon(or sausage), 2 plate size pancakes. Hubs went with 2 eggs, ham steak and country potatoes with/toast. Everything was solid. The potatoes got left behind. No flavor, but that seems to be the norm: leave it to the customer to add S/P, hot sauce, etc. They were cooked nicely. But the pancakes is why I was here. According descriptions on Yelp, they are scratch from their own recipe. They were lightly fluffy with a slight bit of "chewiness". Yummy, but I prefer Heavenly Pancakes and LuLu's, both of which are a thicker, cake-like pancake with a slight sweetness. Still, I believe, like MANY THINGS, pancakes are subjective to the palette. If you favor a slightly chewy pancake vs a cake-y pancake, Joyce's will satisfy your craving. We like coming to Joyce's because the service is always friendly and food is served promptly and well made. We enjoy all the pics and memorabilia on the walls and the OG diner vibe. Their brunch "Happy Hours" are all week, but additional special can be had on weekends and for early risers before 9am. CASH ONLY!!! But - lucky for us - an ATM is conveniently located toward the front of the restaurant. $2.50 service fee. A bucket of Red Vines near the register encourages you to 'take one and smile', so that alone should fill you with warm fuzziness. Cheers! "CC"

Joyce's Coffee Shop has that great small town feel. They have booths that run along the wall and a classic counter with stools. There is street parking as well as a parking lot in back. They only accept cash so know that! There is a restroom available to customers and it was clean. Our server was friendly and checked on us regularly. The coffee is hot and good, not bitter. They have an extensive menu, however we went there for breakfast and stuck with the classics. Bacon and eggs with crispy hash browns and english muffic. Eggs benedict with crispy hash browns. Everything came out hot, yummy, and just as ordered. We do not live in the area but had something to do in Northridge. We like to try local non-chain type spots and searched Yelp for a coffee shop. Very pleased we found this great spot. It's not fancy. It's not trendy. It's not in a large shopping center. It is a comfortable setting emitting a nostalgic, timeless feeling, almost like stepping into a memory.

My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting Joyce's Coffee Shop for the first time today , and it was truly an unforgettable experience. We sat at the bar and were lucky enough to be served by the legendary Joyce herself, which made the visit feel even more special and personal. Talking to her we learned that her husband is the cook and she runs the front , this is really a true mom and pop shop!! The menu truly has something for everyone. My husband isn't usually a big breakfast person, but he decided to try Joyce's Special anyway and when I tell you he devoured those pancakes, I was in complete shock. They were incredibly soft, light, and fluffy, and somehow didn't leave us feeling heavy or bloated afterward. Even the syrup stood out, its not watered down like you find at most breakfast spots. Honestly, the food looked so amazing that we didn't even get a picture we started eating immediately. The service was absolutely top tier. Every single person working there made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers. The bacon was to die for, perfectly cooked and full of flavor and everything tasted incredibly fresh. One of our favorite touches was the aguas frescas. We tried the watermelon and the lemon, mint, and cucumber, and they were beyond refreshing. To top it off the mint and lemon were picked fresh from their garden that very morning!! From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed, and by the time you leave, you feel like family. Joyce's Coffee Shop has that classic diner charm and warm family ambiance that's hard to find these days. I would highly recommend anyone in the San Fernando Valley to come at least once and experience it for themselves you won't regret it. 10/10 experience!

I can't believe I've lived here my whole life and have only just tried this place! I pass by all the time, and I will definitely be coming again. The Joyce's special is a 10/10 I love the pancakes and hashbrowns especially! Pretty good diner food. Daily special was chilequiles and that was also delicious. Heads up it's cash only

Just had a wonderful breakfast here with wifey and t'was all good! They had a good variety in their menu and a lot to choose from. We had their breakfast special which includes 2 sausage 2 bacon 2 eggs, 2 pancakes and hashbrown and it was yummy. Hashbrown was fried right and crispy. Eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly better than ihop and dennys doing it, lol! Their pancakes are creamy and fluffy! The philly cheesesteak were yummy too with the steak seasoned well and with the right amount of onion and peppers. Our server is very good. He even got our furry friend water to gulp on. Always checking up on us. Service was fast. Place is very clean, nice, organized and spacious! They also have a table and cozy seat with pillows outside if you have a furry friend with you or you just simply want the ambiance outside dining. Will definitely comeback here and give the other dish a try! Overall 4.5/5 stars!

It's a bigger space than I expected. Within the restaurant there is a main dining area, a side room, and outdoor seating. There's also a little space for selling pastries/desserts that I found quite cute. As the name suggests, there is a humble vibe. The parking situation is a bit limited. There are not many spaces out front, which is something to be aware of if you're thinking of stopping by. Lastly, the food was really delicious. I ordered the Panwich and tried a little bit of my friends omelette. The omelette was really good and cooked to my liking. The panwich was also really good! I'm a sucker for the savory + sweet combo. Nothing succeeds like excess. In fact, most people will need a take out box for one less meal to cook. Delicatessen means delicate eating in German, but at a Jewish American Delicatessen, the emphasis is on the Eating, which I am not complaining. 1) I requested an off menu item of having a Reuben sandwich where half is Corned Beef and the other Pastrami. Brent's Reuben has warm Sauerkraut, grilled Rye bread, melted Swiss Cheese, 1,000 Island dressing. Thinly sliced, multi-layered Mound of Pastrami is a bit on the dry side. Curing doesn't create a deep meaty Umami and spicing is present but attenuated. The Corned Beef is moister with bit more Umami & plush, thin multi-layered red colored meat. I have to say the Pastrami at Langer's is cured more intensely to bring out a deep Umami as well as more complex and complementary spicing of especially warm spiced cloves that adds aromatic richness. Brent's Pastrami doesn't seem to reach that kind of apotheosis. 1b) I asked for the steak fries to be fried two minutes longer for a crisper finish which was honored. Not much in way of that distinctive potato earthiness, but acceptable. 1c) Coleslaw is mayonnaise based, watery, bland, but a good cruciferous, fibrous veggie to add more fibre, healthful phytochemicals to counter the meat overload even though it isn't flavourful 2) Carrot Cake is closer to a delicate, dense, moist spice cake. A slice is enormous since it is cut from an extra tall cake studded with crushed walnuts and a cream cheese like not too sweet frosting. At $14 it could feed 4 people. Service is fine. They take your order and run with it. Bit of tunnel vision where it may be a bit hard to flag them down. But the job does get done. Overall 3+ stars

They prepare their eggs in a very specific, signature style. They are exceptionally soft-scrambled, rich, and velvety. Unfortunately, I ended up having an allergic reaction after eating it on two different occasions. It was severe enough that I actually had to go see an allergist to get tested. The whole situation turned out to be a total medical puzzle. I ended up testing positive on my skin allergy test, but completely negative on my blood tests, and I just recently passed an at-home food challenge test for egg yolk with zero reaction. Because Egg Tuck cooks their eggs so lightly and uses egg-based house sauces, the proteins are a lot less cooked than a fully hard-boiled egg yolk. My experience just goes to show how differently your body can react to highly soft-cooked eggs versus a strict medical food challenge. The fresh avocado and thick brioche bun were delicious. Loved it, but unfortunately due to reactions I will not be ordering again. If you have complex or conflicting egg sensitivities like me, definitely use caution here.
