okay i think i found my new favorite thai spot!!! I can't say enough good things about the food!!! I got the kee mao chicken, shrimp pad thai, and sweet and sour chicken w rice. All of the dishes are so incredibly flavorful with the perfect kick of spice. Probably the best kee mao noodles ive ever had. We got the lunch special which came with a fried dumpling and side salad which added a nice touch. Also the staff was so nice and welcoming which I really appreciated. We visited Pimaan Thai last Saturday evening. We were quickly seated for our 7:30 reservation. My wife and I both ordered Tom Yum Kai soup - hers with veggies and mine with chicken. The flavor was very good and there was plenty of chicken and veggies in the soup. The soup could have been a bit spicier. My wife ordered the Duck Tamarind. While it was very flavorful, it was way too salty. The same went for my basil curry beef. The beef was tender, but the flavor was a bit off, maybe because of the salt content. And again, it could have been spicier. Not a terrible meal and reasonably priced, but not top notch. read more

I've always liked Thai food. This is where my partner's parents took us the first night we were in town. It's a new place that opened. It's a bit small so it's kind of hard to see from the road, especially if you're going fast. The interior is like upscale: table clothes, wine glasses, candles, the works. They have a large menu of authentic Thai dishes. I got the Tom Yum Po Tak, which is a seafood soup, with a side of steamed noodles. My partner got the Pad Thai. His mom got the Tom Yum soup with shrimp and steamed dumplings. His dad got the drunken noodles. I wasn't really hungry and I think the dishes I got were good enough for me. Everything looked so good I had a hard time deciding. The service is also fast and friendly. There are waitresses running around constantly but if you grab their attention they will help you. Whenever I'm craving Thai, I always make sure to eat at Pimaan. At one point, my fiancé and I ended up here at least once a week.. we couldn't get enough of the green and red curry!! The broth is ADDICTING. It's sweet but also has this sharp spice to it at the end. They give the perfect portion because after you are finished with your meal, you just want to lay down. It's the definition of comfort food. We also love that it has its own parking lot and an added plus, it's BYOB. read more

I'm surprised to see all of the five-star reviews. Coming here with local family, while I understand that it might be the best in the area, of the several noodle and curry dishes that I sampled at the table, none were exceptional. While we did get right in during a busy evening, the floorplan is strangely crowded and we had an odd experience of being moved after ordering from a table of four (for a party of four) to a bigger table in the back of the room. This was not by request--we were told it was to accommodate another party. There was less foot traffic and more room in the back there, but it was unclear why so much of that back space was wasted while the front was so crowded. read more

Decent Thai food in Northern Jersey. I've been to Pimaan Thai for both lunch and dinner and have always enjoyed the food. On the other hand, service was variable between my visits. In my most recent visit for dinner, I had a reservation for a large party on a Saturday night. Reservations are recommended since it does get busy in the evening! I highly recommend getting their noodle dishes (Pad See-Ew and Pad Thai). For the carb conscious, the spicy tofu and the red curry are also delicious. Flavors are there but sometimes, the food at Pimaan does tend to be on the saltier side. Service was fine. We were seated right away and our food came out in a timely manner. In my prior visits, the service was poor, but it was expected since there was not enough wait staff on nights where it was a full house. Overall I would recommend coming here for the food. Though it'd probably be a good idea to ask for less sodium if you are salt-sensitive like myself. PS Avoid sitting next to the bathroom if you can. I have friends in Emerson and have been here perhaps a dozen times over the years since they've been open. This visit, my friend & I shared summer rolls - fresh, filled with veggies, excellent; and we shared a papaya salad, with shrimp & peanuts, not as spicy as menu indicated but a little bit of a kick, also tasted fresh, with nice crunchy papaya strips! We shared steamed chicken dumplings which were tasty as well. After 3 appetizers, we shared one main, a massaman curry with chicken (I don't eat beef, its more traditional version). The curry was perfect - creamy but not thick, flavorful, not over-salted. Loaded with chicken and vegetables. It's BYOB, no corkage, and we had some wine my friend had brought. What a great Thai restaurant in the little town of Emerson. The appetizers were amazing. The chicken satays weee tender and flavorful. Spring rolls crisp and delicious. The papaya salad leaves you wanting more. I ordered my dessert with my entree. Love the vegetarian thai food here!! It's absolutely delicious. The red curry is one of my favorites. Their Panang curry unfortunately isn't vegetarian but they were attentive to my dietary needs. We've been there many times pre Covid, food is decent. During covid, we ordered take outs a few times, long wait though about 1.5 hours every time, but it's understandable. We went to eat indoors once. It needs reservations, patrons are spaced out appropriately. Menus are 1 time use, also used as placemats. Staff are properly masked. Ventilation feels adequate. One of my faves!! I love Thai food, and Pimaan, is delicious!! I have been here quite a few times and I have NEVER had a bad meal or experience. My most recent dinner, was with my girlfriends celebrating my birthday. I made a reservation, which I would recommend, regardless of if it's a weekend or not. We were here on a Tuesday night and it was packed. On to the food! We ordered a few things to share, the spring rolls and the chive pancakes. The pancakes are a must! I get them every time! Not greasy and full of flavor! A menu favorite for sure! For dinner we ordered the Drunken noodles, pad Thai, and a few other dishes. Everyone enjoyed their meals, none of us went home with left overs, so you know it was a good meal. The service is fabulous. Very attentive, even though they are always busy!! Been with my fiance for 3 years now and we haven't had Thai food together. So one day we decided to hit up Pimaan! This establishment is small and can get very busy during the rush hour. (This is why I like to dine at... 5pm) Food: My favorite items on the menu are the bamipoo, pineapple fried rice and their masaman curry. While I think the portion sizes are a little small its delicious. Their thai iced tea is also great! Price: Compare to other thai places. This place is expensive but what do you expect when its the only thai restaurant in town. We spent about $100 (with tip) for 2 people. Service: The server is attentive and points out certain ingredients that people may be allergic to. Luckily I am not allergic to anything. But I think over all servers should know whats on their menu and always offer the information! Parking: They have their own parking lot. Plenty of space but can get crowded. read more

When I first heard there was a Thai place in Emerson, my first thought was: "Where?" Pimaan is right on Kinderkamack, just before the NJT Emerson Station. It has its own lot and is quite large. No wait time on a Friday night, but the restaurant was quite full, and pretty loud too. Another thing I noticed, no Asian people eating here. That's usually not a good sign. Started off with some Thai Iced Tea and chive dumplings. The dumplings were hot and loaded with chives. I found the Thai Tea to be too sweet, but once some of the ice watered it down, it was fine. I had the drunken noodles with mixed seafood, a dish I use as a baseline to judge Thai places. I didn't realize that they didn't ask how spicy I wanted my noodle until I got them. That's disappointing, because I love most Thai restaurants because they actually listen when I say make it spicy. Their default level of spice was unnoticeable. It was pretty good, but not as good as Wondee's in Hackensack. As always, I can't resist anything that's served while on fire. Ordered fried ice cream to share and watched as the waiter poured flames from a flaming gravy dish onto the deep fried ball of ice cream. It looks cool, but unless you like the taste of Bacardi 151, the fire kinda ruins the crispy outer shell. read more

I've been coming here for years as it's only 5 minutes down the road from where I grew up. Every time I come back in the area, I make the effort to visit Pimaan. Off the bat, it's BYOB. The food is always great too. On my list visit, we started with chicken curry puffs, crispy spring rolls, and steamed Thai dumplings. This was shared for the table. You can't go wrong with any of these, but the curry puffs really stood out. Before my dinner I order the GEAW-NAM soup. It has wontons stuffed with shrimp, chicken and crab. Very good and highly recommend. My entree was chicken drunken noodles. It's some of the best Thai food I've ever had. Also, you must get the crabmeat fried rice for the table. It's something I always order. There's usually a decent crowd and no reservations, so be prepared to possible wait for a table to open up. It's totally worth the read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE. We had a 6pm reservation for four people. We arrived at 6:02. Our friends were already seated (we were unaware), and my husband and I waited for the hostess to seat us. She was busy with take-out orders so we were waiting for approximately 5 minutes. When we started to order our food they had nerve to tell us we were late(!!!) and had to leave the table by 7:30pm!! Are you kidding me???? Where have you ever gone to sit down at dinner and they start a timer???? RUDE!!! We were completely rushed through our entire meal. We took our time, ordered dessert and coffee and didn't go anywhere until we were good and ready. The server with the "Dora" hairstyle as another reviewer mentioned, was horrific. Not sure what happened recently but service really has been suffering. Been ordering takeout from them for two years but recently they've been placing people on hold for over 20 minutes, or mixing up orders. Twice in one week I've had issues with ordering from them. Called them to order, they said that they were busy with another line but confusingly, didn't put me on hold, and then proceeded to seemingly take my order, but apparently they were taking someone else's order and left my line active. Arrived at the restaurant and they didn't have my order and said that they had been taking someone else's order instead of mine. read more

Really really good Thai food indeed! I'm personally not a fan of Thai food but the food here was really good! It has its open parking lot, which is really good but the lot does get crowded because of the number of people always going in and out! I would suggest reservations for sure. We made a reservation for two at 6 but ended up getting there around 5:30 and were seated immediately. The restaurant got packed over the hours that we were there on a Friday night. The entrance in located around back where the parking is and then you walk up into the actual seating. The tables are a little close together but the place is well decorated and has cool lighting! The bathrooms were clean as well. My one must recommendation would be the chocolate soufflé! It takes 20 mins for them to prepare so i would keep that in mind but if you have time i would definitely say it's worth a try! Especially with the ice cream and chocolate poured on top! read more
