This place is a little gem hidden on 9th street in San Pedro. The first time we went, we were greeted immediately when we walked in and made us feel so welcome and grateful for our business. The food is excellent and has a true Mexican taste that beats all the said Mexican restaurants in the area. The price is EXCELLENT and the place is super clean and tidy. I can't say enough of how happy my wife and I are that we finally found a place that we love going to for true authentic Mexican food with the love poured into it like our nanas used to do for us. Ordered the carne asada specialty dish and boy was I blown away. The server was extremely kind and I enjoyed it immensely. Along with the carne asada was choice of flour or corn tortilla, rice, beans, salsa, and guac. Truly a tremendous meal! read more

Chips & salsa were good, but the waitress grabbed the chips after we finished them, and never came back with more! I don't know if they only provide ONE tray of chips, or what, but most restaurants keep refilling your chips. On top of that, the waitress seemed more interested in sweeping and cleaning the place rather than coming by to check on us. She didn't smile or have a good attitude at all! The drinks were pretty weak too. The horchata was very watered-down, not much flavor at all. My wife got the jamaica drink, which tasted rancid! Very acidic like it had been sitting for a while. Both drinks were luke-warm too! When the check came it seemed like she over-charged us too! A door away from where I used to work, this place was an easy and fast hunger fix for those days I was too lazy to bring my own food. I always call ahead to place my order and they always give me the same time frame, 10 minutes. The servers are always very friendly. I speak just enough Spanish to get by but the way they laugh at whatever I say makes me feel like I was born speaking the language. Green wet burrito (4 stars) - Very filling, almost good for 2 people except I eat a lot. Lots of flavor in the salsa that they pour over the burrito generously. Yum! Chicken tortilla soup (4 stars) - lots of flavor that is only enhanced after you pour the a small cup of onion that comes with it. Perfect for those who feel sort of down and need a pick-me-up. Light but filling. A great hole in the wall place. You can do a quick park at the front but it has to be really quick or you might get towed. Moved to San Pedro about a week ago and live really close. My husband and I drove by and decided to check it out and boy were we glad! We were greeted by the most friendly lady ever and had fresh chips and salsa as quickly as we were seated. I ordered the carne asada, my husband ordered the enchiladas verde, my kids had a quesadilla and a beef and bean burrito, we also had horchata to drink. It was amazing! We will look no further for Mexican food in San Pedro. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked and my boys especially liked the little lolly pops with the check. This is my go to place when I'm craving chile verde. They make some of the best. The burritos are huge, plenty for two meals. Their dining room has about 8 tables so it can be crowded if your timing isn't just right. I usually make a telephone order for food to go because I live two blocks from here. There must be a lot of confused people out there because they never fail to mention that this is the 9th street location, as if I have no idea where I'm calling. I like the quiet, low-key lighting, which makes the room more comfortable and inviting. The food and ingredients here is very impressive. I ordered a couple chicken dishes, enchilada and soft taco. They use chunks of real chicken breast, and not the fatty thigh meat. When I say chunks, I mean big, juicy pieces of yummy goodness! I'm usually not a re-fried beans type of guy, but the beans here were outstanding. I found myself gulping it down and wishing for more. The salsa is homemade and you can really taste the cilantro in every bite (which I love). Lastly, the tortilla chips that were included were fresh and not too salty or oily, which was a bonus! The only problem I service if and when everyone shows up at the same time....it was a bit slower because there is only one server.. as good as she was she cannot talk too much...just take orders and serve. i had Pina"s chicken and beef tacos combo...and my husband had Pina's chile relleno and beef taco. Both dishes were excellent and authentic. the taco shells were homemade and nice and crispy. The chicken and beef really good. my husband's chile relleno was a fair size and the type used was dark green...I believe that one looked like it is grown quite locally. Really good food for good prices and at the end of your meal you feel like you're a valued member of their family. It's a super small place, probably only 6-7 tables. Parking is street parking on the curb right outside. My dad got chorizo and eggs--delicious. My mom got the tilapia and was given a beautiful, entire fried fish on her plate, including the fins and head! My brothers and I enjoyed our burritos--the meat isn't completely shredded like most places, you get nice hefty chunks of carnitas or carne asada. The only thing is that I think unless you request it, the only thing that comes in the burrito is beans, cheese, and the meat you order--so if you're looking for rice or salsa or lettuce in your burrito you have to request it. Ordered the chicken mole special. It said chicken breast on menu. It was shredded chicken. Why does the menu say chicken breast when it is shredded meat?? False advertising.
