I don't yelp much but have to give a great review and highly recommend getting their delicious food! Always fresh and flavorful choices of meats, (Wednesday I got carnitas and al pastor), rice choices, bean choices, add any/all toppings and salsas. Guacamole is an add on and worth it for the texture and real avacado flavor and a good amount. The people are always so nice and service is great, (I can't overemphasize that), whether you're taking to go or dining in. I mostly take out and go home, where everyone is ready to dig in, but while I'm getting my orders I always notice the people eating there are enjoying themselves. Tried this place for the first time and had a pretty decent experience overall. I originally wanted to try a Soyrizo and potato tacos but unfortunately they were only available as an order of three instead of a la carte, which was a little disappointing since I just wanted to sample them. I ended up getting the breakfast burrito without meat, which was basically potatoes , eggs and cheese. Simple, but still satisfying. The standout for me was definitely the salsa which was really flavorful and paired perfectly with the chips, which were fresh and delicious. Stopped by this evening and opted for a burrito. Cost is $11.95 and they charge extra for guacamole so total was a bit over $15. Service was very slow and portion was pretty decent. However, taste was lacking. Being Mexican it is easy to spot good food and this isn't it. Flavor is lacking and I would rather have a flavorful portion that is smaller than a huge portion that bombs! Sorry, but this place was just a no. Their plant-based options was not good. They should just stick to their regular menu and remove their "vegan" options. Found this place off Yelp and drove all the up here. It was our first time there and it's a quick to-go type of mom and pop joint. You order as you go--pick and point what you want built. The line was long and got pretty busy for a small place perhaps because it's the only Mexican restaurant in the area. They need to be more clear on their menu on what type of stuff they put in it. It just says "vegan Al pastor" tacos WHICH IS JUST MUSHROOMS. Should just put what it is rather than naming it Al pastor. I guess this is their version which was odd. We tried to let them know we didn't know it was mushrooms as we don't eat mushrooms if they can kindly please change it to soy chorizo and the cook hesitated and wasn't going to change it. He finally agreed to make a new one--WE RETURNED the original order that came out and they ended up throwing it away. However, they charged us anyway for additional charges to compensate or offset the cost or difference, which was fine. It was only $5. However, it was petty. As a new customer we told the cook it was our first time, and we want a good experience and become returning customers if they can help us with it. After the hesitation and finally changing the order, the $5 charge was not a pleasant experience after the whole ordeal. I think the charge was not worth losing a potential returning customer that would continue to patron the business. Although they did change the order--we will not be returning. There's also a charge for "SPECIAL OF THE DAY" whatever that is that wasn't mentioned and we don't know what that was on the receipt didn't see it until after we left. Make sure to double check what they charge here because they mark them as misc items. They're so busy perhaps no time to pay more attention to the clean the restaurant. The tables were extremely sticky and the chairs were very dirty, stained, with food and sweat. They also did not smile and was not quite friendly. This place is fantastic. A perfect choice for meat lovers and vegans alike. Today was my first time ordering from this restaurant. I ordered a vegan al pastor burrito for myself and a vegan hibiscus burrito for my mom. Good: I had it delivered to the house. It came pretty quick. The burritos were quite large and very well-filled! Felt like I was getting my money's worth with the size. My vegan al pastor didn't taste like fake meat, which I was worried about, it was just made from mushrooms so that was good. They also added a few chips into the order so that was a nice little addition. Questionable: my mom's hibiscus burrito tasted.. sandy? It felt like the lettuce or hibiscus wasn't washed properly and dirt was still on it. She couldn't even finish it because of how grainy it tasted. I tried one bite and couldn't eat it either. Also the hibiscus was very hard to bite and chew, so it didn't feel cooked enough either. Not sure how one burrito turned out great while the other felt questionable. Overall, it was still a good first experience, and I will probably be back, but hoping the company can rectify my mom's bad experience! read more

Tucked off to the side in a pretty big mall (that includes a Trader Joe's), Tomatillo serves up surprisingly tasty Mexican food. The carnitas were delicious, and the steak was tasty as well; even the "soyrizo" and potatoes were good. The salsas are OK and the service is friendly. There are a couple of tables inside and some outside as well but this place seems to do quite a bit of take-out. Nothing to go out of your way for, but if you're in the area and you have a jones for Mex, by all means check them out. Excellent place for Mexican food! This is a family run business that serves up great fast casual Mexican eats. My girlfriend and I came here yesterday and were greeted by Ricky and his team. Ricky is super friendly and made us feel very welcome. I ordered 4 tacos: 2 chicken, 1 steak, and 1 barbacoa and the barbacoa was the star of the show! The meat was cooked perfectly and had a bunch of flavor. The steak was cooked well too and the chicken was juicy. We came during sunset time and it was very nice to sit outside the restaurant and enjoy your food. I will say I wish they had fish/shrimp tacos on the menu - that would really elevate things here, but overall a great spot to come eat at or just order to go. The size was average. The green sauce I ordered was tasty. It had rice and beans inside with the meat but even with the sauce on top, it was still dry and lacking in flavor. It was under seasoned and bland. I love Mexican food but I found this burrito to be a disappointment. Compared to other Mexican restaurants, this one was lacking in flavor. Basically, the ingredients are all behind the counter and you tell him or her what you want in your burrito, so I had him put everything in it - eggs; bacon; potatoes; rice; black beans; corn; tomatoes; onions; sour cream; and salsa. As you can expect, it was one ginormous burrito, which he wrapped beautifully. I thought for sure I was going to have to eat it with a fork and knife, but it all stayed contained to the end.
