    Tomatillo: wall decor

Stopped by this evening and opted for a burrito. Cost is $11.95 and they charge extra for guacamole so total was a bit over $15. Service was very slow and portion was pretty decent. However, taste was lacking. Being Mexican it is easy to spot good food and this isn't it. Flavor is lacking and I would rather have a flavorful portion that is smaller than a huge portion that bombs! Unfortunately and sadly I would not return. Came in because the reviews were high on Yelp but this place just does not cut it for my family.

    vegan tacos too! so good!

VEGAN OPTIONS! SO FRIENDLY! SO GOOD! VEGAN OPTIONS 3 different street taco options and they're so good! Each vegan order is fresh made just for you! SERVICE - OUTSTANDING! I think this is a family owned biz with everyone helping out! Everyone is so nice and committed to your positive experience! HOW TO ORDER Street tacos are built like Chipotle/Subway style :) Everything else is straight forward. AMBIANCE Really small dining area - not a spot for anything more than a very casual outing with 1 or 2 friends. Take it to go and eat across the street overlooking the ocean! All orders can be made to go! Enjoy!! :)

Sorry, but this place was just a no. Their plant-based options was not good. They should just stick to their regular menu and remove their "vegan" options. Found this place off Yelp and drove all the up here. It was our first time there and it's a quick to-go type of mom and pop joint. You order as you go--pick and point what you want built. The line was long and got pretty busy for a small place perhaps because it's the only Mexican restaurant in the area. They need to be more clear on their menu on what type of stuff they put in it. It just says "vegan Al pastor" tacos WHICH IS JUST MUSHROOMS. Should just put what it is rather than naming it Al pastor. I guess this is their version which was odd. We tried to let them know we didn't know it was mushrooms as we don't eat mushrooms if they can kindly please change it to soy chorizo and the cook hesitated and wasn't going to change it. He finally agreed to make a new one--WE RETURNED the original order that came out and they ended up throwing it away. However, they charged us anyway for additional charges to compensate or offset the cost or difference, which was fine. It was only $5. However, it was petty. As a new customer we told the cook it was our first time, and we want a good experience and become returning customers if they can help us with it. After the hesitation and finally changing the order, the $5 charge was not a pleasant experience after the whole ordeal. I think the charge was not worth losing a potential returning customer that would continue to patron the business. Although they did change the order--we will not be returning. There's also a charge for "SPECIAL OF THE DAY" whatever that is that wasn't mentioned and we don't know what that was on the receipt didn't see it until after we left. Make sure to double check what they charge here because they mark them as misc items. They're so busy perhaps no time to pay more attention to the clean the restaurant. The tables were extremely sticky and the chairs were very dirty, stained, with food and sweat. They also did not smile and was not quite friendly. Need to greet customers and thank the customers.

Had their breakfast burrito! Very good! Authentic Mexican food! Cute decor! You get to build your own burrito, had some rice and beans added to my egg, potato, cheese burrito with diced raw onions/ cilantro mix and had salsa, chipotle mayo and sour cream on the side. Definitely coming back!

It's so cute first of all. Lovely friendly service. The barbacoa tacos were amaaaazing The horchata was a little too sweet for me.. but everything else was 10/10 and prices were very reasonable in this economy.

    Vegan al pastor burrito

Today was my first time ordering from this restaurant. I ordered a vegan al pastor burrito for myself and a vegan hibiscus burrito for my mom. Good: I had it delivered to the house. It came pretty quick. The burritos were quite large and very well-filled! Felt like I was getting my money's worth with the size. My vegan al pastor didn't taste like fake meat, which I was worried about, it was just made from mushrooms so that was good. They also added a few chips into the order so that was a nice little addition. Questionable: my mom's hibiscus burrito tasted.. sandy? It felt like the lettuce or hibiscus wasn't washed properly and dirt was still on it. She couldn't even finish it because of how grainy it tasted. I tried one bite and couldn't eat it either. Also the hibiscus was very hard to bite and chew, so it didn't feel cooked enough either. Not sure how one burrito turned out great while the other felt questionable. Overall, it was still a good first experience, and I will probably be back, but hoping the company can rectify my mom's bad experience!

I've been here before, and the birria tacos were exactly what I needed for a late-night craving. Crispy on the outside with a good amount of filling and strong flavor - they really hit the spot. I ended up having four of them. The consomé on the side was really good too - rich and flavorful, almost something I could've just had on its own. The street tacos were solid. The carnitas had that tender, slightly crisp texture, and the al pastor added a bit more seasoning and contrast. Nothing overcomplicated, just straightforward and satisfying. Service was friendly, and the setup is quick and casual. In the South Bay where places tend to close early, it was nice that they were open until around 10pm. I am soooooo PICKY with my salsa. They absolutely nailed this salsa. The flavor, spice level, texture!!! It hit every single mark in my brain and taste buds. If the house salsa is good, then you know the food is also going to smack. The menu looks so appetizing, it was honestly hard to decide what I wanted to eat. I ordered some steak nachos as an appetizer with my friends based on a photo I saw on Yelp. 12/10. beautiful!!! They put a healthy portion of meat on it! Everything was just so spot on. The tortilla chips were all crunchy, no soggy nacho chips here. The sour cream, guac, pico... please order it. The meat was so flavorful, tender and had like no fatty pieces on it. Everyone needs to try it honestly. I ended up going simple and ordered a steak torta with everything on it. The waiter offered a side of jalapenos as well, which I happily accepted. 10/10. I was only able to eat half. I gave the other half to my extremely picky father and he liked it a lot. That's how you know this place is that girl. Can't forget the dessert. I ordered the flan, the waiter convinced us.. he said its home made. Which I would hope! It was a small piece and was flavorful. Creamy, smooth, just melt into your tongue. Drinks were always filled, salsa and chip refills were always offered and filled. He took great care of us. They gave us lollipops with the check!! Omg so cute, my heart! Parking is difficult as it is only street parking. Majority of the parking also gets taken by the customers who go to the coffee shop across the street. I am def bookmarking this place to come back. The beautifully savory black beans and fresh guacamole made it feel like a meal that was thoughtfully put together instead of an afterthought. Rich, complex mole, tender chicken, and one of those meals where you keep saying, "Okay, one more bite," until suddenly there's nothing left but regret that it's over. As a non-drinker, I also have to give Vida props for the mocktails. They were creative, delicious, and--miracle of miracles--reasonably priced. Nothing's worse than going out for dinner and discovering the mocktails cost just as much as the cocktails. I mean... WTF. The service was every bit as impressive as the food. Regardless, the place has a great vibe. Service was awesome, our server was prompt and checked up on us throughout the meal, and everything came very quick. On the food front, their chips and salsa are great, and I'm a fan of their guacamole. I got the 2 taco lunch special with an asada, a cod fish taco, and a side Caesar (you can also do rice and beans if you want instead). The fish taco was excellent, and the carne asada was pretty good (it was a bit on the dry side because of how crispy the meat was, but it was still tasty).
