Traveling from out of town, we wanted to give the kids the experience of cracking crab legs. The wait for a table was over an hour which was fine because we joined the list on Yelp then headed to the restaurant. Service was fine, quick but not overly helpful. We ordered crab legs, it was supposed to be 4 clusters, for $42. When they came out, they were as big around as my 10 year old's pinkie. There was no meat to be found. The server brought us another one without us asking, and it was about the same size, and the meat was brown and a strange texture. We showed the manager and he agreed it didn't look right. We decided it was probably just time to go, and they brought the bill which still had $42 of crab on it. When we asked the manager he said "oh, I comped the first order for you. That's for the second one." We didn't eat any crab and the whole thing was very strange and uncomfortable. We ended up in a Chick Fil A drive thru instead. read more

Pinchers food has been always excellent! Our last visit.... Not so good. II always order the beans and this time they came out cold and tasted like frozen beans. If they ran out I wish they would have told us so we could choose something else. Tanya offered the replace them but by that time it was too late. I went for my birthday dinner I will never be back! The drink was full of ice wAtered down. It didn't taste like liquor was in it. The fish was not tasty. The fries were like a rock Hard They gave me mashed potato it was salty Service was poor and slow. I got a free piece of key lime pie which was the best thing I ate all Night. Visited my mother here in FL. Took her to dinner here. First visit for us both. She ordered the shrimp scampi. My order was blackened salmon with fresh green beans and close slaw. When the food came, hers was correct and she thought it was delicious. Mine was correct sides but shrimp instead of salmon. Ok no biggie. Happens. So they took it back. 15-20 min later after my mom was mostly done with her plate they bring out the super small potion of salmon with french fries instead of the fresh green beans. Twice they got the the SAME order wrong. I wasn't going to wait for them to get it right while my mother sat there with a finished plate for the next half hour. Needless to say no manager came out to apologize or explain. Left it to the young high school waiter to do it. Maybe for regular visitors this was an isolated incident that can be brushed under the table due to great previous visits. Unfortunately it was out first. And last. They get a lot of people. I'm sure it's hectic. But attention to detail and getting orders right are basic staples of being in the restaurant business. read more

I stayed at the Hampton Inn across the street and been waiting to try out the place since day 1. The people I stayed with wasn't keen on trying the place out so we finally went in for to go food since the restaurant we ate at(Drunken Poet) left all of us hungry. We ordered the 12 Blue Crabs clusters in garlic and butter sauce, Fish n Chips with fries and garlic mashed potatoes, shrimp pasta, and 2 Conch fritters. All came out to $92. The conch fritters weren't what I expected because I didn't think it would taste so much like hush puppies. The Fish n Chips were really tasty and very crispy. I really enjoyed the mashed potatoes as well. I definitely will come back if I am ever in the Venice area. I would really like to dine in one day. I highly recommend this place if your in the Venice area. read more

My 2 cousins and I went for dinner Monday night 03/04/2023 Nanette was our server. She had to have been one of the nicest servers I have ever had! This was a rather large establishment with lots of pictures and signs related to fishing and seafood on the walls. Fresh seafood could also be purchased here. The menu had lots of options and "happy hour" prices all day long. The service was friendly and the food came out in a timely matter. For appetizers, the hot crab and cheese dip ($11) was ordered as well as the conch fritters ($10). The dip was labeled as having some spiciness to it, but I did not taste any. The dip was good, but had a poor balance of cheese and crab. It was way too cheesy. The conch fritters were better because of the conch sauce that was provided. The fried conch was cooked to perfection. For my entrée, I went with blackened pompano ($18). This came with 2 sides and I opted for the beans and corn on the cob. The beans were tasty and flavorful, but the corn on the cob was boiled way too long. The pompano was solid. The skin made it a little tough, but the seasoning had a slight kick to it and went well with the fish. For dessert, their signature Key Lime pie was ate ($6). It was small given the price. The taste was alright, nothing signature about it. Will I go back? Most likely. read more

Great atmosphere at the outdoor sitting area, super nice waitress Susan and great blue crab app! Photo is of the grouper tacos and hand cut fries, very flavorful. In back was the was the crab stuffed blackened grouper meal. Not the greatest "blackened" grouper, was mostly cooked with a lot of seasoning added to the top of it after it was cooked so that was a bit of a disappointment. Nice atmosphere. Very costal, seafood feel. They have booths and tables plus a bar. I had crab cakes that were full of crab. It came with 2 sides. The coleslaw was very good and the garlic mashed potatoes were delish. Dads shrimp scampi was full of shrimp and very tasty. It came with garlic bread. Moms bourbon salmon was good but suggest having the sauce on the side. It spread under the french fries making them soggy. Our waitress Laticia did a good job and the manager went around the restaurant asking how everyone's meal was. I gave it 4stars because of moms sauce and my potatoes were room temp. Overpriced for the quality of the food. This was our first bad meal since arriving for vacation. We spent over 2 hours there from the slow service, lack of drink refills, and horrible food. Drive to Reef Cakes in Sarasota if you want an amazing meal. Or Sharky's on the Pier. So much better than here. read more

Pinchers is a great gathering place. Their American menu is slanted toward seafood but you'll find substantial meat and poultry selections as well. We are Blue Crab aficionados! Pinchers has the best variety of crab delicacies in the area. We love to order crabs by the dozen for our family and friends - just sitting out on their deck, cracking and dipping, listening to the nightly live music. Their bar is a treat - serving any drink you'd like. The evenings are laid back, no pressure to hurry on as you are treated to Southern hospitality by the staff! We love pinchers! We are local and still go here over some local spots. To be honest there is one closer in Lakewood ranch we could go to but parking's a little bit of an issue over there and it's a smaller restaurant. This restaurant however has plenty of parking a nice inside area a nice bar area and a large outdoor area It's great. I would highly recommend the Pincher Claws sauteed, they are amazing a little pricey but worth it! We have two kids so the fact that kids eat free with each adult entree that's over $14 is also pretty cool! Tony's Bigfoot Sandwich lights out! Also their green beans are really good and this may sound weird but smiley french fries are awesome! two for ones all day everyday you can't beat it All the servers are great and the restaurants are great atmosphere! read more

Well, after trying to get into good places for lunch we ended up here, pretty empty, should of been our first CLUE! Ordered Fish & Chip's, after our first 2 order's they didn't have (Tile fish & Fried Clams) UGH, they were literally big fish sticks, and the fresh cut fries were days old & cold. 2 for 1 beers at 12:00....that was good, had to get the food down.... Server #1 was great, she became I'll, so moved on to #2 server, UGH.... Not Fun, Crappy food, nothing but really OLD people and I'm 68! Depressing and Sad! While on a road trip from the Northeast to Venice to swap vehicles for a friend's mother, we decided to find a seafood place for a late lunch/ early dinner. We ended up at Pinchers after finding some other place closed early on Sunday. We had no knowledge about Pinchers ahead of time besides their signage. It ended up being exactly what we were looking for. Copious servings of seafood prepared exactly the way you'd expect (and want). For appetizers, my buddy and I shared the conch fritters, grouper nuggets, and fried calamari which were all great. As mains, we both got the gulf grouper tacos (I did blackened and he went with the fried) and we both agreed they were great. We also got a shrimp scampi with pasta for his mom (to go) and she was very happy with it. Pinchers seems a "no surprises" kind of place. There were multiple large tables while we were there but it never got too loud to converse, so I'd be happy to bring my family. It probably would be a regular stop for me if I was a local. read more

I have been dying to have Maryland blue crabs down here. I've eaten them my entire adult life. We stopped in for lunch and after searching several restaurants in the area for them, I couldn't believe they served them!!! I ordered the blue crab clusters. My wife got a salad. The crabs came nice and hot so I dug in! I noticed right away that they were overcooked and dry. That was kind of a let down. But then I tried a few more. I started tasting a strong ammonia flavor which I didn't understand. I then smelled the crabs and could smell the ammonia. It was very strong! I asked the waitress about it and she said others have reported the same and she told me that's what blue crabs smell and taste like. I've eaten these all my life and knew that wasn't true. So I googled it real quick. Oh man....crabs were bad. Likely dead and decomposed when they were cooked. That's what causes the ammonia smell!! Couldn't even think of finishing them! I hope I don't get sick from what I did eat! Needless to say I won't be going back to pinchers for blue crabs. Be careful folks and pay attention to their smell and taste if you do try them there. I'm on to the next place myself. Fries were good though. read more

We were staying across the street at the Hampton Inn and able to get on the wait list before we left the hotel. After a long day at the beach it was nice to not have to drive and not wait too long once arrived. We did not do any appetizers, but did take advantage of the 2 for 1 drinks. I had a local beer (similar to Blue Moon) which was served with an orange. It was very good. I ordered the broiled gulf grouper with green beans and coleslaw. The fish was good, but the green beans were amazing. They were fresh and full of flavor. I was not expecting to enjoy the green beans so much. The fish was cooked perfectly and had good flavor as well. The kids had chicken tenders and buttered pasta and enjoyed them. It was nice that kids eat free. The only feedback I would have is on the milkshakes for the kids. We had one brought out and my daughter would not drink it since it was more like iced milk. They remade the shake and it was not much better. That would be something I would not order again. Service was great and attentive. We'd go back when we are in the area. read more

I have never had a problem here. However, tonight I had the worst experience. My waitress Chrissy spilt oyster water into my drink and then dropped and entire basket of crackers...INCLUDING the basket into my meal. I can understand accidents happen. However her reaction is what bothered me. She acted like she didn't see the water spill into my drink and after dropping the basket and crackers into my plate she said "did you at least enjoy it" with 3/4 of my sandwich and fries remaining. read more
