Worse "fine dining" experience I've had in a very long time. We waited for over an hour and 15 minutes for our food. No one even brought us bread for nearly half an hour! The portion sizes were unreasonably small. The seafood dish was 20 dollars and had maybe 4 pieces of seafood in it. My mother's dish was ice cold. The waitress' first sentence to us was "I'm having a bad day." And to make up for this they discounted the bill 15 dollars. Just ridiculous!! We will never be coming back and recommend others think carefully before spending this kind of money for a similar experience. Definitely NOT worth the price even remotely. read more

I got married here last Sunday afternoon. We also stayed in the Inn which was so convenient. Our event coordinator Joanne was amazing throughout the entire time. First the rooms....the Inn is absolutely immaculate and comfortable. Great coffee and fresh fruit available every morning. The event...the banquet rooms are gorgeous. Think large chain hotel but independently owned and with a few additional quirks (such a reception staff who are slightly inefficient and seem genuinely surprised and confused when you turn up to check in). The rooms are fairly standard, with a very decent amount of space and well appointed bathrooms. The beds were not fantastically comfortable but were just about sufficient. The room decor was all a bit dark for my own personal taste but if you're just looking for somewhere to sleep then who really cares? The place seems to be well looked after and there is none of the "shabby" feel that one often finds at hotels (chain or otherwise) outside of big cities. The staff are extremely friendly and housekeeping was thorough and accommodated our timing needs without batting an eyelid. One major dislike of mine was that, despite the signs prohibiting smoking within a certain distance of entrance ways, there were large ash trays and butt bins placed right next to most of the entrance doors to the many buildings that make up the hotel. This means that you often find yourself leaving or entering through a cloud of smoke or cigarette butt smell (or both). Since it was right next to the doors, the smoke smell also percolated some way into the buildings themselves. The rooms, however, were strictly non-smoking and we had absolutely no problems in the room itself. If you need a place to stay in the Danville area then you could certainly do a lot worse than the Pine Barn. It's not 5 star luxury but it's clean and quiet and does have a certain charm to it (albeit a slightly alternative one). Oh, and despite being right next to the hospital (very handy if that happens to be the purpose of your visit) I was never disturbed by ambulance of helicopter noise, so no worries there. Parking is ample and although I did not try the restaurant during my stay, I'm told the breakfast is reasonably good, though not mind blowing. read more

The only positive is the location relative to the hospital, which is probably the reason they overprice the room so much. They take advantage of people who are there to see their ill loved one. Pine Barn Inn Restaurant used be the place to go, not so much any more! our last visit was a disaster ! Chicken w/Crab was cold and tasted off,fingerling potatoes were like cardboard also cold,Whiskey salmon was flat tasteless,not fresh,overcooked, and broccoli was yellow tinged and had gone to seed. who with any culinary experience would even dream of serving such inferior fare !!! Should have known better, but gave them another chance! They used to be packed ,no matter what time of the day you would visit, now if there is four people ,its a crowd. They changed the,hours,then back again,the menu too,used to get Danville residents as well as staff,and visitors from the Geisinger Hospital. A charming, neat and tidy little room. Maybe 3 miles off the highway (I-80). Free wi-fi, great signal. Analog TV still exists here. Somehow. Decently comfortable mattress, but they are still using those old comforters! EW. Pillows were horrible and the bed was made so: bottom sheet, top sheet, comforter. So I had to find the blanket in the closet to get rid of the comforter. This is and the hair on the middle of the bathroom floor are what keeps this from being a 4-star review. Located about 2 miles away from the hotel we stayed at, the Pine Barn in is a combination hotel and restaurant. It's partially built out of an old barn and had we known about it, I wish we'd stayed here instead of at the Hampton Inn. The place definitely has a rustic charm about it, but I'm told the rooms are well-appointed and up to date. We did however eat in the restaurant. One of the locals recommended it to us. To tell you the truth, the chain restaurants near the Hampton don't look very promising. They've got your basic steaks, chops, chicken, seafood, and pasta dishes here. For you non meat eaters, they've also got a fairly decent sized vegetarian menu. So if you are a vegetarian, you're not stuck with just one item. The pasta here isn't homemade--it's Barilla (but at least they tell you that on the menu). They've also got a fairly large selection of sandwiches if you're here on lunch or you don't feel like a large meal. As for me, I had a good tilapia with the requisite sides (potato, vegetable, salad). The fare here at first glance won't set the world on fire. It's mostly basic American chow. But it's good food at very reasonable prices. What more can you ask for? read more

Okay this city doesn't have much in the food scene... that being said Pine Barn was a very pleasant and welcomed surprise. I'm in town for work and will be back frequently and I am so grateful to have found this really charming restaurant and tavern. The special was the mahi mahi and shrimp. Great place. Friendly, accommodating staff. Rooms are clean and well appointed. Lots of parking. I attended during the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Convention. I have never been to a convention where the testaurant service was so fast and able to accommodate such a large number of people without sacrificing the quality of service. Our server was wonderful! And the food is good. Will definitely stay again and recommend it highly. Only downside is there are a very limited number of handicap rooms. read more

This place exceeded every one of our expectations. We had to stay here for a few days, due to a surgery at a local hospital. We arrived, and the checkin was amazingly simple and fast. We get to the room, and we were surprised again. It was a very nice hotel room. The bathroom was for mobility impaired people, do it was open and was very comfortable. The beds were on the soft side, so that suited me just fine. The fridge, wifi, and microwave while standards these days were great and useful. The service was fantastic. Between the front desk and the cleaners, everyone was so nice! The proximity to Geisinger Hospital was wonderful. They had complimentary shuttle service from the hotel to the lobby of the hospital. Made it VERY convenient. If I have to stay on Danville again, this place will be first on my list! read more

I made booked for a 7 o'clock dinner tonight for seafood buffet for 6 people. To find out they got changed to 5 with out asking me if it wasn't. Ok for someone telling me we whouldnt knowed my daughter use to work there and they did it also to us a day before thanksgiving. We stay one night at the Pine Barn Inn. It was 20 mins from Knoebels amusement park. I gave it 5 stars because our room as very clean, friendly staff and they have a great Resturant in the registration building. We had dinner and breakfast at the Resturant and it was wonderful. If you ever have breakfast there you must order the banana pecan pancakes. They were the best pancakes I have ever eaten. The price was very reasonable as well. Definitely will stay here whenever we visit Knoebels amusement park. read more

Great hotel! Stayed here for two nights with husband and the kids, as it is just 20 minutes from Knoebels Amusement Park. The room was great! Very clean, spacious, and quiet. The mini fridge was a lot bigger than other hotel's fridges, even has a crisper drawer. The food at the hotel was excellent! We ordered it to be delivered to our room both nights and we were not let down. The crispy buttermilk chicken sandwich and PBI club are fantastic! Very friendly staff. Highly recommend! read more

This is probably the only hotel in Danville. It was clean and conveniently located right next to the hospital (I was in town for an interview at the hospital) the restaurant at the hotel is pretty good- the food was good and they have some good local beers on tap. I was there around the holidays, so I got one of the specials (I think It was brisket with latkes?). The portion was pretty sizeable, and really tasty! I was in town to visit Knoebels Groves and decided to stay here after finding a good deal online. I'm glad I did! The Pine Barn Inn is very pleasant - well-landscaped grounds, ample parking, easy to get to, and very clean, updated rooms. The meal was quite enjoyable and served in an appropriate timely manner. We each ordered something different. I got the sugar maple Dijon dill salmon. They were out of the plank they cooked it on so it was just grilled. It was delicious I would have enjoyed more dill or Dijon flavoring but the salmon was cooked to perfection. Beware the Caesar salad is served with onions on top. This was unusual to me. I picked them off. The shrimp and scallop scampi pasta was good. The scallops were cooked to perfection. The lump crab cakes were large and my aunt loved them. My mom and uncle both ordered a fall special of shrimp and lump crab with broccoli florets on top of penne pasta with lemon chive sauce. My mom isn't a fan of lump crab but felt it was better than she expected. Overall our meal was good. It was well paced and the FRESH hot rolls were awesome. They had different varieties. I had two different flavored rolls and the sweet cream butter made them better. Dessert. Why yes they have their own menu. So we had four menus at the table today. The parfait with amaretto was loved by my aunt. And my parents had a very nice sized piece coconut cream pie. Our server Doug was personable and very knowledgeable about the menu, drinks to recommend, and specials. I enjoyed that they also had Shade Mountain vineyards wine which is a local winery. read more

Recently I had dinner at the Pine Barn Inn. I ordered the $24 10oz. prime rib special. They should have been embarrassed to serve me the piece of meat, let alone call it prime rib. I ordered it medium rare and the entire piece (less than 1/2" thick) was brown like it had been reheated in the microwave!! It was awful...and the au jus was nothing more than canned beef broth! I'm still kicking myself for not sending it back! I was waiting for the waitress to ask us how everything was but she never did. What happened to the Pine Barn Inn? The first time I've visited the Pine Barn was in the late 1980s when I interviewed for a position at nearby Geisinger Medical Center. I stayed at the hotel and enjoyed it immensely with a warm atmosphere and tasty fair. Over the past 30 years my family and I have enjoyed the restaurant and have been quite satisfied. This all changed in the last 6 to 9 months. This past week we had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and came away quite dissatisfied after both meals. The dinner was unremarkable and tasteless and the veggie omelettes we had for breakfast were devoid of vegetables, soggy and practically inedible. When we brought this up with our server she just shrugged her shoulders and had little to say. We also noticed that for both meals the restaurant was quite empty. I wonder if other long time visitors to the restaurant have experienced the same to decline in performance. Sad since this restaurant used to be one of our favorites in the area. read more

I attended a medical lecture at the Pine barn inn this evening. The service was good but the food was terrible. I'm pretty sure the shrimp that was served will make people sick. The rice was tasteless and pasty. It didn't have much more flavor than cardboard. read more

Pine Barn Inn is next to Geisinger Medical Center. My brother was in the ICU and I stayed at the Inn because they are close and because there is a discount for those who have family at the hospital. The staff is excellent! The rooms are clean and comfortable! The coffee is good and there is actually enough sugar! The property is safe and secure. This review is on the Pine Barn restaurant. Ate lunch here over the past weekend. The menu was quite large offering a lot of variety. The dining room was very pleasant. Flowers on every table. All tables covered with white table cloths and blue cloth napkins. Waitress was very busy but very attentive. we placed our order which where for two different salads. I had a cobb salad with turkey which was quite good . Price was $7.50 which was worth every penny. My wife's Salad also very good with a great dressing which I believe was. the house dressing. read more

I have been dining at the Pine Barn Inn for over 70 years. We went to the Pine Barn for birthday dinners that usually included lobster tail and great pies. I also held my father's and sister's wake there over the years. It was the place to go for nice dining. Several weeks ago our golf group held a dinner there. We ate in the restaurant several times during our stay in Danville. The food has been good every time. The fries are really, really good. The breakfast has been fantastic. The hotel is okay. It's clean and up to date. I don't think the mattress is all that comfortable, as I prefer more of a firm mattress. After staying for several days, we discovered that they put out fruit every morning, but it runs out quickly. The vending machines have been broken for the week we've been there. The location is convenient to Geisinger, and there is a shuttle that runs back and forth to the Inn and the hospital. read more

Disgusting food! We ordered from the restaurant inside the hotel. We got grilled panini, a flat bread pizza and a salad. It was the worst panini I have ever had in my life.
