First time going today for breakfast, I asked for over easy eggs that were over cooked ( hard ) the pancakes had good taste but almost burnt had to ask for butter , my daughter had eggs Benedict the potatoes were good the eggs were a mess , she has eaten here before and she said the hamburgers are good , service was slow only one person severing , all the condiments containers were dirty . It's a real mom and pops restaurant, good try not for me .

We finished up a beautiful hike along the PCT and were absolutely starving. It had been a few years since our last visit to Pine House Cafe, so we stopped by for lunch before heading back to San Diego. I was craving a burger and went with the Beef Angus with cheddar and fries. The burger was solid with a mildly flavored patty and fresh garnishments. However, the fries were a 10/10! They were made with a delicious batter and fried to perfection; they taste great with ketchup, ranch, or even just on their own. The service was quick, friendly, and accurate. There is plenty of seating both inside and on the patio. I especially love that they are so open and welcoming to PCT thru-hikers. It's a great local spot and we'll definitely be back. Thank you!

Ambiance was very nice. This restaurant is normally not open on Mondays but maybe cause of the holiday of St. Patrick's Day it was? The server and cook were incredibly busy. They worked harder than I've seen anyone work in quite a while. It was full today of people as they are the only restaurant on the mountain open. I can only imagine how busy they are on a weekend. We ordered chicken tenders which were good. They came with ranch. Tomato soup I would not order again. A bit too light red/acidic for my taste. It did not come with bread but with crackers so at least I got that. We liked the burger and fries were especially good. I would absolutely return here. Please be prepared for slow service due to the volume of customers being served.

Such an adorable cafe that feels both like a cabin in the woods and a French cafe. The service was great and very personable, feeling very homey. I got the eggs Benedict and while the hollandaise wasn't my favorite, it was quite good and those home fries are DIVINE. Literally, so incredibly delicious. On a whim I got that sparkling lemonade that's imported from France and it's my new favorite thing. I also can't find it anywhere, so more regular adventures are needed. I'll definitely visit again whenever I'm in Mount Laguna.

Food was good. Restaurant is decorated for Christmas and the service was great. The special Chicken Pot Pie had great flavor, big chunks of chicken, carrots and mushrooms. Husband has the Tavern Burger, pattes could have been cooked a little more. Over all a nice experience. Great place to stop for brakefast, lunch or dinner while traveling on Sunrise Hwy.

This is such a hidden gem! This quaint little restaurant is found at the top of Mount Laguna off beautiful Sunrise Highway. This spot is adorable, and the owners are the first to greet you upon entering. This is a French restaurant that has a huge tree trunk running upwards from the floor and through the roof right in the middle of the dining room! It's the most amazing thing to see walking into a dining area, and I welcomed it with open arms! We visited on a Sunday at 9:30am, and were shown to a two top table and given our menus. The furniture here makes you feel like you just walked into a family member's home, so cozy and welcoming. There's a huge fireplace along the furthest side of the restaurant that gives the perfect touch of cozy ambience. The lady quickly came back and took our orders. I ordered the sausage and gravy with potatoes - added a sausage link, and my boyfriend ordered the French toast with an added sausage link. Their food came out pretty quickly even though they were busy, and everything looked amazing. The taste of the food was so good! Just like a home cooked meal at mom's. The gravy was on point, the biscuit was homemade, and the potatoes were the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had, hands down. Now you're probably looking at the picture and thinking "ehh, looks normal to me..." well it wasn't lol. The flavor of the gravy was developed and the POTATOES...oh my. They had a light seasoning on them, and they were lightly crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. You can't tell how delicious this was just by the picture, I promise you. I just never had breakfast potatoes like that before. Usually you get potatoes dressed up with onions, bell peppers, etc., and they STILL taste bland. These potatoes looked like they would be bland and then they smacked you across the face with flavor. On our way out to pay, we noticed a little area at the front where they sold French cookies and other desserts etc. We grabbed a box of caramel cookies to take back to our cabin for a late night snacky! We are most definitely coming back in January when the snow falls to have breakfast again, this spot is a 10/10.

Service was good comparatively to the snow goers (on a Friday 3/7/25). They have a decent selection of French wine. The star of the show was the French onion soup and the kids Mac n cheese. It's all done French style so try to imagine you're in the French alps

Food was good and service was the best part (especially the woman with glasses...she was very kind). This is a very cozy, mom & pop type restaurant. The menu is French American. They greeted us and sat us at a table right away even though they were extremely busy (peak snow day). We will definitely be back!

I got the brisket sandwich with tots and my husband got the Swiss mushroom burger. The tots were crispy to perfection on the outside and soft on the inside. The brisket sandwich was delicious and salty-savory (in a good way) when dipped in the thing of sauce/gravy. My husband said it best: the mushroom burger was what a good standard burger should be (as fas as cook, flavor, texture goes). Though we both agreed that it needed a few more mushrooms. Our waitress kindly suggested a local cider which was pretty refreshing on a hot summer day. Overall, the Pub is a good place to swing by up by Julian. You can't beat the views and it's a nice place to take a pit stop.

We were not disappointed at all. Upon arriving, there was a musician playing, and they did seat us off to the right so we could not see but could hear still. Having met Jeremy's parents earlier in the day who also recommended his restaurant, and they were just lovely, we had hoped to possibly meet Jeremy too. I wanted to try everything, but we opt on getting a few dishes to share. Our son ordered the filet mignon and they were able to substitute mashed potatoes for fries. Amazing!! My husband and I were returning from a hiking weekend with our two doggies when we searched for a pet-friendly place to have lunch. Google suggested Farmhouse 78, and we are so glad it did. At first, I didn't notice the outdoor patio, so I went inside to ask. From the moment I walked through the door, every employee was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They made me feel valued as a customer and even offered to let us dine inside with our dogs. Out of respect for other guests, we chose to sit outside on their lovely patio. Everything about this place was wonderful--the cleanliness, the atmosphere, the service, and how quickly our food arrived. Most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious. My husband had the pork sandwich, and I ordered the cheeseburger with French fries. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and homemade. When I went inside to pay, I had the pleasure of meeting Cyndie at the register. I told her how impressed we were with our experience, and she was just as warm and friendly as everyone else we encountered. If you're visiting Santa Ysabel, do yourself a favor and stop by Farmhouse 78. Great food, wonderful people, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

I even brought friends who had never been here before, thinking it could become one of our regular stops when we're out hitting the trails. Instead, it left a bad taste in everyone's mouth... and not just from the food. Waitress: Where do I even start. She claimed she was hard of hearing--but her attitude spoke loud and clear. Tossing menus on the table, aggressively slamming salsa down, and getting snarky over being off because our party count was off by one person. Seriously? It took two seconds to adjust the table, but apparently that was just too much. Yes, she technically did her job... but with such a cold, unwelcoming, and rigid attitude that it made the whole experience uncomfortable. What really stood out? We were there first and ready to order, yet she chose to take care of every smaller table that came in after us. No communication, no "I'll be right with you," nothing. Just ignored. Basic courtesy clearly isn't part of the service here. And trust me--I used to be a waitress. I handled large parties all the time and actually communicated with my tables. It's not that hard. Honestly, if gratuity hadn't already been forced onto the bill, she would've gotten $0. The only pleasant person we encountered was the busser--quick, friendly, and actually seemed like he wanted to be there. Maybe swap their roles, because he outperformed her by a mile. Food: Let's talk about the food... if that's what we're calling it. Everything came out cold. Not "warm-ish," not "could be hotter"... just straight up cold. It felt like our plates were sitting under a heat lamp for way too long before making it to the table. One "white" friend asked to have her meal fixed--fine, no problem. But when another "Hispanic" friend asked the same thing? Suddenly there was attitude, menu slamming, and mumbling under her breath. So... what exactly was the difference? Why the inconsistency and hostility? If the kitchen is that backed up, maybe management should step in and help instead of letting food die in the window. Just a thought. Final Thoughts: This place had potential... but that waitress single-handedly ruined it. We'll be taking our group (and our money) elsewhere--Dudley's Bakery is looking like a much better option moving forward. I usually bring large groups out here, so this isn't a small loss. Unfortunately, if this is the level of service they're okay with, this place isn't going to improve anytime soon. At this point, it's less "Farmhouse charm" and more "junky barn energy."

The Cabernet sauce was excellent and offered a great depth of flavors. The dish also came with tender carrots, sweet pearl onions, and white mushrooms. All of them were perfect. The beef was rendered down beautifully and had great color and was very tender to the touch. The beef offered exceptional preparation and was an absolute pleasure to eat with the Cabernet sauce.
