Okay - I've been a Valley Farm Market patron for 25 years. We lived on Mt. Helix back in the day. They've setup a lovely restaurant and bar on Mount Laguna - the Outpost. Imperial Valley Carne Asada is legendary. Their BBQ is off the charts, pure artesian craft. Now their magic foods have just intersected my favorite camping spot in San Diego County? Did I just win the lottery? You're insane if you don't buy their BBQ platters and Carne Asada Fries. This is as good as it gets, in the magic atmosphere up in the woods, in the classic lodge of the Outpost. Service is timely and friendly. What more can you ask for? This is beyond my expectations. Enjoy!!!

Delicious burgers & fries. Delicious salads! Friendly service & cool vibe. This place has a restaurant on one side and a bar on the other. There's also a cozy fireplace area with comfy sofas & a piano. Plenty of parking and very reasonable prices. Also they are dog friendly so you can bring in your dog. We bought the dog a "doggie patty" which is part if the menu for pets! Highly recommend this place.

After a wonderful hike, we enjoyed a wonderful meal and drinks at Outpost. Has the cozy feel of a lodge decorated with wagon wheel lights and deer head mounts with deep wood Tons of sitting with booths and a back area by the bar with sofas and a fire place :) We ordered carne asada French fries which were fire. The flavors were incredible. The Baja rice bowl with chicken and the BBQ wings-- yummmm. I tried the Blackberry cider on tap which did not disappoint. I would love to try more flavors! Would definitely come back!

Thanksgiving 3 meal crawl started here at The Outpost by Valley Farm on Mt Laguna. The smoked ham was the star meat of the entire crawl. Truly transcends any ham I ever had in my life. Homemade apple pie was also the pie champion today The people! Really welcoming, efficient and so proud of their work The atmosphere is wonderful, big stone fireplace, wood everywhere, feels like a mountain cabin. Great bar! We enjoyed Calidad draft and pumpkin Cider. We can't wait to come back and check out their cabins!!

Finally had the chance to ride our motos out here during the week! About 13 miles up Sunrise Highway from Interstate 8. Who can resist a quick jaunt in the mountains and fresh air? I grabbed the Caesar Salad that was plenty for 2 people. Who doesn't live a salad with plenty of creamy dressing?! This has got to be one of the best Caesar salads that I've had. What sets it apart is the sundried tomatoes. Wish I took a closer picture of one. Homemade. So, they're not totally dried out. They have some juiciness- and we'll seasoned. Since we came for lunch, I ordered the chicken wings with dry rub. I'm typically not a dry rub person- but, I'm so glad I did! It had the meat candy rub- and the wings were very meaty and not puny like some chicken wing chains.

The brisket sandwich was the worst I have ever seen. The meat was mostly fat and gristle. For $17 a sandwich they could at least trim the meat properly. I couldn't believe they sent that out.

Their BBQ plate was very good. I love tri tip and baby back ribs. Normally I am don't care for baby back ribs. But theirs were flavorful and tender. French fries looked so good. I didn't eat any. But my hubby and kids love it.

First time in Mt laguna. I did find this place through yelp with excellent reviews so wanted to check it out. I was honestly surprised about thr taste of the food. Delicious. The Pizza is light and on point. Fresnch fries is tasty. Atmosphere was nice. Decor is nice and easy parking. We ordered impossible burger and it was amazing. Surprised by this small place. Very cute. For sure will come back

Mezcal margarita, with fresh squeezed juice and tajin salt. Thank you, Brad!

A new family favorite! Fantastic, unobtrusive live music on Friday nights (think undiscovered Chris Stapleton), super cozy environment, good food, great drinks at an inviting bar. Lots of cute dogs hanging around, and a warm community. Try the mescal margarita (pictured)! Brad, the bartender, makes a great one.

There must have been at least a dozen kids or more. I told my 7 year old son not to bring balls but of course other kids did. If you park in the back there is no doubt your car will get hit. But it's softballs, not baseballs. Service is legit. Fast, friendly. They're like get in, order, get out. But we stayed for probably an hour and a half. The live music was great, not too loud. I am sad to confess the food here is not as legit as I figured based on being a San Diego local and a big DDD watcher. It probably depends on which day you come, but on Thursday, the brisket was so average. Del's in Del Cerro is better. Smoky and the Brisket is better. I had my brisket served with that nacho cheese and relish, not nearly as great as I thought it would be based on DDD. I also don't drink anymore, but if I were to have had 2-3 beers + this dinner + the enviornment I would have loved it. My son gave a huge thumbs up to his burger, daughter liked her food. If you want an experience, have time you need to kill and have kids, it's a solid spot, but in no way is this a destination if you live west of the 15. Stick to classic spots.

We were not disappointed at all. Upon arriving, there was a musician playing, and they did seat us off to the right so we could not see but could hear still. There is outdoor and indoor seating, but at the time we came it appeared that the outdoor was reserved for an event. We happily sat inside! Having met Jeremy's parents earlier in the day who also recommended his restaurant, and they were just lovely, we had hoped to possibly meet Jeremy too. I wanted to try everything, but we opt on getting a few dishes to share. Our son ordered the filet mignon and they were able to substitute mashed potatoes for fries. Amazing!! The mac & brisket appetizer appeared to be the highlight and specialty and we just had to order it. Every bite was cheeesy and delicious with the brisket very moist. We couldn't go without ordering the Brussels sprouts and it had a twist with ponzu sauce and pineapple. Definitely a different take and I thoroughly enjoyed the taste. Every bite was foodgasmic and I highly recommend!!! I knew coming here that some Yelpers have experienced wavering in quality, so glad we did not experience that at all. Decor was chill and noise volume was low-medium. Overall 10/10. Food favs of today: brisket(one of the best I have had from a restaurant) it was tender, packed full of flavor and had the perfect balance of meat, fat, and rub. Cole slaw was great and I'm not a fan of Cole slaw usually! Rack of Ribs were good! Macaroni salad, potato salad were flavored well! Caesar salad was fresh and dressing tasty. My friend liked the jalapeño cornbread but it was too spicy for me. It had great flavor it's just personally my stomach would reject that spice. Recently, I brought my father and my boyfriend for his first visit, expecting the same quality experience I had enjoyed for years. Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing. The menu has been significantly reduced, offering only a limited selection of options, while prices have increased substantially. I ordered the half chicken with brisket as my additional side for $38. When my meal arrived, I received only two pieces of chicken and a single piece of brisket. Upon cutting into the chicken, I noticed blood on the plate and the meat appeared pink. As I am currently pregnant, I did not feel comfortable eating it and asked our server if the chicken could be cooked longer. Instead, the manager came to the table holding my plate and explained that the chicken had been checked with a thermometer and was safe to eat. When I expressed my concerns regarding my pregnancy, he rolled his eyes and told me to choose something else rather than offering to cook the chicken further. I then asked if I could receive additional brisket since I was no longer comfortable eating the chicken. The manager responded, "That will cost more," and walked away. When my replacement arrived, I was served only two very small pieces of brisket and was charged extra for them. I am genuinely shocked by the lack of professionalism and customer service from the management team. Combined with the increased prices and noticeably smaller portions, the overall value simply is not there anymore. For longtime loyal customers, this experience was especially disappointing. After sharing my experience with family and friends, several decided not to visit, and unfortunately, I will not be returning either. The quality, portion sizes, and customer service no longer justify the cost. If you are looking for both quality and value, I would recommend considering other options.
