Told by a Cape Coral local guy to try this pizza spot in Pine Island near Matlache. I passed by it several times and noticed that the front of the building advertises pizza slices, so immediately it drew my attention. My pet peeve are pizza joints that are against slices. The pizza maker advised that one slice and a soda is $3.00, which is a fabulous deal. The slice per my request was cooked well done. It was placed into a box and I grabbed a Coke and left to eat in my car. The sauce was NOT zesty with a decent layer of cheese and the crust had a perfect crunch in every bite. Picked up a huge pizza that was lukewarm, soggy and no crispy crust or 'bite' never again it's so disappointing and I have had good ones in the past. Are you in a hurry? Is your oven not hot enough? It really was disgustingly soggy and undercooked. You win. We lost I guess. We are CT pizza snobs but we have never found anything here locally that comes close to New Haven style that we are accustomed to. With that being said, we do like the pizza at PI compared to other local FL pizza we have tried. Always high school or college students working when I come in. Customer service is lacking. If you call and cannot get through it is becuase they are deliberately taking the phone off the hook and are not sincerely apologetic about it. Try ordering online instead. Always check your pizza before you leave as the finished product is not consistent. Shame that places that make a killing because there are no other options are the ones lacking in service and end product. Parking lot is small, helpful hint is to park down the side street. This pizza spot was the closest we've found to the taste of pizza in the northeast. The owner sold the restaurant a couple years ago and I believe the previous owners son stayed on board and continued making the pies. I have not seen him there the last several visits and the pizza sauce and the cheese seem to be different. It is a different pie and recipe and not as delicious as the previous pies in my opinion. Honestly, tonight was such a disappointment. In times like these, we try to support small businesses when we do go out and when we do go out, we want to have a great meal and great service. We are locals and live on the island and eat here quite often - both dine in and take out. Tonight, the food was 3/5 stars and the service was 0/5 stars. It was truly disappointing! We ordered calamari - no longer fresh, it is frozen rings and terrible flavor. It used to be great big rings and baked to a golden brown - ours were small, not sure you can even call them rings and the breading was white. Extremely fishy. Our pizzas were okay, good flavor but no longer the good thin crust. Wings were great per usual. Where the big problem was, was the service. We were the only people in the dining room and I'm not sure if they forgot that or what but we waited to be seen, our drinks sat empty on multiple occasions (and were refilled with flat soda - when we asked the girl about it, she said the root beer machine was "broken"). The conversations we heard from the staff was alarming (who's dating who, who's sleeping with who, and who's bringing what drugs to the party after work). We thought the conversations were enough, but nope, someone in the kitchen was BELCHING!!! While we were eating, at a table, in THEIR restaurant. How appetizing! It was awful ambiance. Waited 15 minutes to have the food boxed and get check - once we got the check, took the girl 10 minutes to come back and ring the card. And mind you, it was not busy. We heard walk in customers come in telling them that their phone was "busy" when trying to call in to place a Togo order..... one of the kids in the kitchen said "they are manning two phone lines and doing the best we can." Let me remind you, it was not busy. We have been here before when it's busy... tonight was not it. Not sure if it is the new owners or an off night, but it will be hard to go back. Especially when going out is a treat for us. This was far from a treat. read more

The pizza was not cooked all the way . We asked for , and paid for , extra cheese and the pizza barely had any cheese . The cheese wasn't even melted all the way. Had to bring it home to try and bake it . Not worth the money at all . We love supporting local businesses but they have definitely gone downhill. read more

I try to support local but somethings I just can't ignore. Ordered a 14" medium/large pizza. Crust looked pre frozen, sauce was decent but the toppings? Terrible. Peppers and onions should not be diced, looked pre-frozen as well. Not spread out either, just like thrown in the middle. The best part? $18 for this pizza that looked like Digornio. Maybe a taste above. Figured I give them one more shot after a friend ordered a pizza last month, which we weren't super impressed with then either. Super expensive and super disappointed.
