The counter service at this 24 hour bakery was great, but that's the only compliment I can offer. It was recommended to us by a server at a restaurant at Playa Largo. We bought Oreo cheesecake, red velvet cheesecake, rum chocolate cake, and a dulce de leche dessert to share amongst friends. Everything had a stale, plastic taste to it as if it left a film on your mouth. Even the lone Oreo sitting on top of the cheesecake was soft, wet, and stale. We've been here a few times and we really love the food and that it's open 24/7. But today they made us fresh empanadas and only gave us 3/4. More importantly, when we went with a friend from the military we saw that they have a sign that offers a 25% discount to police officers, firefighters, and military. When he showed his ID they told him they don't do discounts even though the sign said they do. Cashier came around the counter to read the sign like she had never seen it before. After fighting with a few of the women they started saying his ID was fake. A little more arguing and they said they'd give him the discount. Pretended to give the discount and never did. He paid full price and let it go but thought it was ridiculous. Very slow service and no one in the building spoke English so very hard to communicate. read more

I can not express how much I despise this older, blonde, loud lady from from behind the counter. I'm a local and visit quite often and pray I don't get that older blonde lady to take my order. You can tell she hates her job. She rolls her eyes every time I tell her for example, I want to remove tomatoes from my steak sandwich. Or if I say I don't want the burnt, extra crispy bacon with no flavor. The fact that she has to enter that in the system annoys her to the core. Plus she intentionally always charges me different prices and purposely messes up the order. I'm so done with this place. I will never be coming back again. I love this bakery chain! They have a great selection of treats, whether you want a little pastry, or a whole sandwich...They have it all! You can never go wrong with their tequeños, or (in this place specifically) their freshly-squeezed orange juice. This was my wife and i first time visiting here. Tried the rum cake that is popular there...tasted like regular chocolate cake they tried to make it look fancy,but It was stale.! Guys. I can't say this enough: GO HERE! We are from central Ohio and just spent two weeks in Key Largo. We stopped here just to pick up a few goodies to take back to our house. Then... I came back like 5 times throughout our stay. I love the guava pastries. They were so perfectly buttery and flakey. The Oreo cheesecake was good as well. They have amazing sandwiches served on giant buttery croissants. But the guava pastries and overall my go-to item. Yes, there is a bit of a language barrier if you don't speak Spanish. But as long as you take your time and you're kind everything goes smoothly. I found the employees all to be helpful. I would highly suggest making all of the labels more clearly marked in both English and Spanish though. I may have bought a few more things if I had any clue what they were! lol. My wife and I visited the Bakery in Key Largo on May 2, and wanted to order breakfast. As soon as the door opened we found about 3 people standing waiting in "line" and 4 to 5 ladies behind the counter assisting them but only in Spanish. However, one voice stood out from the rest as it was very loud, you could actually hear her outside. She was shrill, nasty and rude based on her body language. Very abrasive woman. Finally after very little movement, my Spanish speaking wife approached and asked the only lady with blonde hair and shrill voice some basic questions about how the breakfast was served, (ie, English muffin, on a plate, etc). This very rude and condescending woman would not let her finish a single sentence and constantly interrupted her over and over demanding she order food by the number on the menu above, which oddly enough have no numbers listed next to the items. She asked a few questions, very politely and soft spoken and was met with nothing but hate filled vitriol and nasty comments, eye rolls and harsh "lectures". Clearly she was the worse "employee" in a service industry I have ever met or seen in action. She literally threw the food order at my wife, across the counter as she continued to berate and lecture her. She is the only one with blonde hair as the rest of the pleasant ladies were all black haired. The receipt referred to "Maria". Honestly the food was not bad at all but spare yourself the agony of walking in the door to the "insane screamer" and keep going to another breakfast place nearby. read more

When I think of a bakery I'm thinking bread and rolls and such. This isn't that kind of bakery. Pinecrest bakery has sweets and sweets. We tried several different kinds. Coconut, raspberry, and red velvet. The consensus of the family was that everything was too sweet. I really liked my coconut, but nobody finished the other stuff. The staff was friendly and their stuff was pretty inexpensive. If you're in the mood for sweets give them a try. read more

I love the guava pastries! Flakey, sweet and delicious! Lot's of delicious desserts in the case ready to be enjoyed with something for everyone. The sandwiches are great as well and I favor the Cuban. The place would be five stars if you could communicate with the staff and it's not easy for me as I don't speak Spanish. This is an ongoing frustrating experience here and it would be a regular stop for me if not for the language barrier. You do need a lot of patience when stopping here as they will often help someone behind you in line that speaks Spanish. Coffee that comes with the combo is the size of a small tiny water cup I think it's looks like about 12 ounces. I said I didn't want pork and they gave me bacon with my breakfast and I wanted turkey bacon and they gave me some kind of chopped turkey meat in some scrambled eggs. The eggs and meat had no flavoring just salt to taste. They gave me some toast and I had to ask for jelly because it was served without jelly. Then after I got my breakfast I went to sit down and realize the music they were playing which was something to take no Latin music was so annoying at 7 AM that I went outside to eat on the curb. Clean, bright and cheerful, Pinecrest's glass counters are filled with what appear to be delicious looking baked goods. Both sweet and savory, everything "looks" wonderful. In fact, the croquetas looked so wonderful, we had to sample one of each. Looks can be deceiving. The spinach one was really greasy, the "cordon bleu" and "bacalao" were both overcooked. Not too wonderful They forgot to put the roast pork (lechon) on the medianoche we ordered. It only had ham and cheese. My tuna salad was really ample, but needed some more mayo and definitely a hit of salt and pepper. The flan was extremely firm. Not creamy. I know were were in Key Largo not on Calle Ocho in Miami. Stumbled on this place in Key Largo on vacation while looking for pastries but turned out ordering sandwiches. Even though they were out of turkey as warned, the Monte Cristo was delicious and filling. The sandwiches are pretty big here and pricing is good for the keys. Ordered the cubano, which was very good but just couldn't eat all of it. I usually don't write reviews but I had to write this one. I have a house in lower Matecumbe and usually from my ride ft Miami I stop through the drive thru of Pinecrest bakery and I've been doing this for a long time without a problem but Today was different. So this was my story -- so some nice man outside tells me to order at window as speaker was broken, I wait my turn and I order the usual a toast with melted cheese for my son and 4 croquetas. A while after waiting the girl brings me a Cuban sandwich so I nicely tell her I'm sorry but it's a Cuban toast with melted cheese. Una tostada con queso and she randomly starts screaming at me super loud telling me I did not order a Cuban toast with cheese I proceed to tell her I always order this for my son as that's all he likes. Well to make the long story short she goes on and on how I ordered wrong and starts screaming louder and louder at me. Mind you I was keeping my calm. All of a sudden she starts insulting me and telling me Again since I ordered wrong I had to wait. All this time my son is freaking out asking me mommy what's wrong with that lady when she finally basically throws it at me I ask her for the difference in money and she rudely tells me I am una grocera. Well anyways I left and will never return as long as the owner employs people like this or is not made aware of what this employee did. I was there at 12:30 am on Saturday and by her accent she seems she's from Venezuela which also shocked me as my best friend is Venezuelan and the nicest person ever. 24 hours is the big sell here! We were on our way to John Pennekamp at around 8am and didn't have time for a real breakfast, so we stopped in here for croissants and other goodies that I cannot pronounce. (It helps to read Spanish as none of the baked goods in the case are labeled in English.) The prices were sooo fair that we thought we were undercharged! Before going here we looked this place up on google and thought it was a foodie 24hour bakery. It's really a Cuban cafe. We ordered a hot pressed Cuban, and Philly. The Cuban was cold in the middle and the Philly was more like a spicy fajita and was acidic. The staff spoke more Spanish than English. Our order was incorrect multiple times because of the language gap. Most of the food labels in the display case were in Spanish making it difficult to order. There was a large selection of baked goods. We got the Oreo cheesecake and a chocolate cake. Both were very good. The fries were also good. They were seasoned curly fries. As we were preparing to leave a Caucasian woman came in and asked to fill out an application, (there was a hiring sign in the window) she was told they were not hiring.
