I usually don't write reviews but I had to write this one. I have a house in lower Matecumbe and usually from my ride ft Miami I stop through the drive thru of Pinecrest bakery and I've been doing this for a long time without a problem but Today was different. So this was my story -- so some nice man outside tells me to order at window as speaker was broken, I wait my turn and I order the usual a toast with melted cheese for my son and 4 croquetas. A while after waiting the girl brings me a Cuban sandwich so I nicely tell her I'm sorry but it's a Cuban toast with melted cheese. Una tostada con queso and she randomly starts screaming at me super loud telling me I did not order a Cuban toast with cheese I proceed to tell her I always order this for my son as that's all he likes. Well to make the long story short she goes on and on how I ordered wrong and starts screaming louder and louder at me. Mind you I was keeping my calm. All of a sudden she starts insulting me and telling me Again since I ordered wrong I had to wait. All this time my son is freaking out asking me mommy what's wrong with that lady when she finally basically throws it at me I ask her for the difference in money and she rudely tells me I am una grocera. Well anyways I left and will never return as long as the owner employs people like this or is not made aware of what this employee did. I was there at 12:30 am on Saturday and by her accent she seems she's from Venezuela which also shocked me as my best friend is Venezuelan and the nicest person ever. I am an owner of a dental office and would not tolerate loosing a patient from one of my employees being so rude. Wow and to think Pinecrest Bakery has been my favorite bakery for so many years. Every morning I get the best cafe con leche. They take their time to help each one of the customers. They do have a slow drive thru process...but hey it's the keys. Get the ham and cheese croissant if you can't figure out what to order. Also the steak sandwich if you are starving would be another option. read more

Highly disappointed. Service is very inefficient and frankly rude. Sat in front of counter for 15 minutes trying to get someone's attention to no avail. They have 8 employees back there who are working hard at trying not to work hard. So the food -GREAT at least as far as what we ordered. We had several breakfast sandwiches between 5 of us - the croissant with egg cheese and sausage was really tasty but too much for one person to eat . The sunrise roll up was nice and felt lighter as a wrap . The breakfast pastries were hot and sweet and just spot on The coffee is wonderfully smooth -just ask for no sugar and add your own -if you ask for sugar they add way too much. But only three stars mostly for the service-very disorganized at the register -the person who helped us was perfectly pleasant but the other women working behind the counter were rude to customers around me. Don't do it. I ordered online from their website. Paid through PayPal. Showed up to pick up my food when my confirmation text told me to. I ordered a chicken sandwich, Turkey BLT and fries. When we showed up, we waited 15 min in the drive thru, only to get to the window to find out our order wasn't ready. And also NOT paid for even though I paid online?? We should have left then. Obviously we didn't. She asked if our order was for two sandwiches and we told her it was. We paid (AGAIN) and waited 10 more minutes. Then we were given two steak sandwiches, two orders of fried and two sodas. We tried to tell the girl that this was not our order and all she would say was "I ask you." So we left with someone's dinner. And it would have been ok if it was at least good, but ithe steak was tough and not very flavorful. I did have to email and dispute the original charge so that I would get my money back and not have to pay for the meal twice. Stick with Denny's...they're slow too, but the food is good. There is room for improvement but the fruit tarte, rum cakes, and cheesecake flan were all very good. & don't forget the coffee. Drive thru is kind of a nightmare.. you can get trapped in line and be stuck for quite some time. This is an order and pay-at-the-counter cafe and bakery. The menu is relatively extensive, and mainly sandwiches. There are a large number of attractively displayed desserts and pastries. We were among a very few diners. One of our party of four, a vegetarian, ordered a cheese sandwich with tomato, onion and lettuce. True, this is not on the menu and the clerk had a hard time understanding our request. We finally asked for a turkey sandwich, but no no turkey. The person who took our order prepared the sandwiches. Each was delivered to our table at a different time and the drinks came midway through. After a long wait the "cheese sandwich" came last -- with turkey and a lot of bacon too. I always love Pinecrest bakeries but this was by far the worst I have ever been to because of the service. The brunette woman helping us was so incredibly rude she literally rolled her eyes at everything we asked for. I have lived in miami for a couple years and do my best to practice spanish as much as I can and whenever I asked for something she would repeat it in English and again roll her eyes. Came down to Key Largo for 4 days, we stoped here for breakfast on our first morning and only had breakfast here since. It's terrific! We had egg sandwiches on Cuban bread and Pan de bono (very small buttery/cheese roll), tequeños de guayaba y queso (guayaba and cheese tubular pastry goodness) and the most delicious cafe con leche -- yum.
