We came to Pink Elephant to get carry out. I called the restaurant in advance to make sure they were open and to confirm that they had no "dine in". They were very friendly over the phone, no rushing, and answering all my questions. Now to the food. The vegetable egg rolls were nice on crisp on the outside, but lacked texture on the inside. Then the papaya salad. The menu says it consists of shredded papaya, carrot, green bean, tomato, garlic, shrimp and chili with fish sauce. For one this dish had quite a bit of lettuce. The papaya was the best part. The dish could have been enhanced with more shredded carrots. The green beans were raw (unusual). Overall the dish had the right amount of lime and chili. Finally we had their most popular dish - Garlic and chili fish. This is a salmon dish where the fish is cut up into flat cubes and deep fried. They would have done better with a fillet because the cubes were dry. The sauce was more teriyaki and should have had a stronger flavor and taste of chili and garlic. read more

Soooooo good! I ordered Tom Kha coconut soup and ordered it spicy because I like spicy. Thank goodness I had milk at home. My mouth was burning, but it was deliciously spicy and flavorful! New favorite but know they're not messing around with their spice levels. I've been disappointed by other Thai restaurants and their soup, but this one hits the spot. Precautions were all taken but the food was so disappointing. Never ordering so much food from a new place again. Wasted 60$ and my craving was definitely not satisfied. The 2 orders of "crab wontons" had nothing but cream cheese inside, albeit good tasting but not what I paid for. The pad thai was okay but since I got "no spicy" it lacked flavor, not just spice. The shrimp fried rice had gritty shrimp and gritty rice and didn't seem very fresh, the glass noodle stir fry (pad woon sen) was lacking sauce and flavor and didn't have much beef, overall very disappointing meal. If you order delivery through the Eat 24 app, they will not read any of the instructions to make the food spicy. The last few times we've ordered, the food is not only not spicy at all, but also a bit too bland. It's unfortunate. You would think it would be easier to follow written instructions. Made the horrible decision of watching Food Network when i was hungry...i then wanted fried rice and opted for Pink Elephant and I'm glad i did! I got medium spiced fried rice with chicken and crab. Overall, i liked it a lot and would order again but definitely without the crab. The crab was very, very dry and tasteless. The chicken, spice level, onions, and peppers were perfect as well as the rice (not too hard and not too soft). You also get a lot of rice which made it easy to eat a couple of times yesterday. Overall, i will be back soon for chicken fried rice (i wish they had pork) when i need my quick rice fix. The curry also looks really good in pictures so ill try it soon :) read more

I ordered $50 worth of food. I asked for extra shrimp on my chow mein they gave me 4 pieces. I asked for extra eggplant for my girls green curry, they gave me 3 pieces. I believe this lack of accomodating your customers stems from management and then trickles down to the cooks. Incredibly overpriced and low value food. Might as well go to the grocery store and buy one dollar spaghetti box and a pound of shrimp and have it taste better for $5 total. Management, if your customers ask for special not-so-difficult requests. It would be smart of you to accomodate them and advise your employees to do so, all it takes is attention to detail by reading the INSTRUCTIONS AND APPLYING THEM! read more

It's been about 3ish-4 years since my unpleasant experience with this place and I've ordered from them for delivery several times since. The food is still good as always and the prices are awesome! I tried to add on to my order and my gift card ended up declining, which they were really pleasant about. The man insisted that he try the card a second and third time. I am beyond disappointed in this restaurant. I used to love coming here for the Tom Yum soup. I went the other day for a Tom Kha soup with chicken one of my favorites as well. I was enjoying my soup when I found a dead CRICKET in it! (See picture below) Although I got my refund I am seriously questioning how in the world a cricket Got in my soup it was gross. Normally I wouldn't give an establishment like this 5 start because of the parking situation, but I came up with 5 GREAT reasons YOU should try it. If I couldn't think of 5 genuine reasons, it would have gotten 4 solid stars. Congrats! 1) The clean modern decor. Though when you first walk in you think you went to a dive, this place actually works for a meal you want to bring friends to. The casual atmosphere and cute bar top in the front makes it a non threatening place. 2) I am a big fan of any place that you can order at a counter and pay then people bring your food to you. it makes it convenient when you have multiple paying parties. 3) Great food, priced accordingly for a place like this. I would say the restaurant is perfect for take out too. the flavor and freshness of the food is top notch and rivals many places I've paid twice as much. Sans the frills of the most expensive places, i'd say their food is better (on the dishes i ordered). 4) Friendly staff. They are so nice. We ordered a good amount of food and sat at a 2 top. When they brought the food out, instead of cramming it into one table, or asking us to switch seats, they brought a table to us. Felt like bruce wayne from Batman Returns. Do i own the place? 5) Excellent balanced fresh flavor. *Drunken noodles were out of the world. Noodles weren't mushy or clumped and the little extra ingredients they used created a great balance of texture and fireworks flavor in your mouth. *My wife doesn't usually like Red Curry, but we loved the Panang Curry. The curry flavor balanced in spicy and sweet was an excellent combination. *We also got the spring rolls (free!) which was fresh veggies inside, not gooey like others, with a delicate crisp crunch outside. amazing sauce that goes with. *don't forget the Chicken Satay. I'd say the chicken wasn't much different from most places, still good. But their peanut sauce and cucumber that goes with is the best. They make their peanut sauce from scratch which explains the creamy texture. Be sure to catch this place, surprisingly they close at 9pm. So come early. The sad thing is we live in West LA and so the chances of us coming here aren't slim to none. But when we are in the Canoga Park area, we found a new place to hit every time. read more

What can I say... I really like this place! and I'm not really much of a "fusion" girl... which had me putting off trying this place for so long! It's on Sherman Way a bit north of Topanga Cyn... either next door to Cavaretti's (which I think is over-rated) and or a couple doors down from the Cobalt Cafe (the middle school/high school "cool" hangout). The Pumpkie recommended that we try this place instead of some of our regular Thai food haunts... and it was a good choice. I wouldn't have tried it on my own! (and I've been back several times since!) Anyway... The inside is modest. There are several tables with colorful plastic seating. The walls are adorned with pictures of 80s style posters of thai food and a few kawaii signs. (they're hiring by the way if you're looking for a thai food job?) The food, however, is the main draw here. It's good and inexpensive... around $6 for a good sized portion of whatever you choose to have. My favorite has been the pineapple fried rice. Nowhere else can you get it for roughly $6.50 and it's just as good as any other place's I've had. The chicken is soft and juicy. I am really picky about my meat and I haven't run into any gristle or it's never been "icky". Always, well cooked and thinly sliced. Yum! It also has plenty of raisins, cashews and diced pineapple. If you like it really curried, I'd recommend specifying because it's only lightly curried. in my opinion. I've had much more curried versions at other places. The pad thai is also really tasty. The perfect amount of peanuts and chicken and egg with green onion goodness. Yum! I also really like their Thai Iced Tea. Sometimes they used condensed milk which just gives the tea that extra oomph! Love that stuff! And I always see cops in here getting their food on... which is never a bad thing. They always say they know where to eat and apparently they're not wrong on this one! :) read more

HOHOHO! Christmas came early! I was super skeptical about this place because I dislike Asian-Fusion food for the most part. But DANG! Their Pad Ga Pow Gai Sup (Spicy basil with ground chicken) with a sunny side up egg over rice was ah-maaazing. I tried to order in Thai to the cashier but he didn't speak thai, so I ordered in Thai to the manager and she asked me what spice level I wanted. I absolutely love spicy food, and I ordered the most spicy. Then she yells my order into the kitchen and adds, "Most spicy for a Thai person please!" That is how my Christmas came early. When my dish came out it was very colorful from the various chili pieces that were thrown in there. I drank two whole glass of water by the time I was finished with half of the dish. Considering how big the portions were I also had to stop eating there and to-go the rest of it home. My coworker ordered the Chicken Drunken Noodle and that came out first. It was really good! The portion sizes are definitely huge! The flavor were all there and I just wanted another bite of it! I ended up paying very little for my dish around $7.70ish. If only I lived closer! The SFV has a bunch of great Thai restaurants to try, after all the City of Los Angeles (including the SFV) has the most number of Thais living outside of Thailand! Will be back if in the area. A word of advice. They like their food spicy. So if you're a bit of a weenie when it comes to heat, like me, just get everything with 'no spice.' Their mild had me sniffling away throughout our meal. We've ordered from a few Chinese, Thai and Japanese restaurants in the area, but I'd say Pink Elephant was the tastiest. Is it as good as those in Thai Town? No. But it's enough to get your fix until you can get to the real deal. Prices are also cheaper than the others. Two entrees, a side of brown rice and cucumber salad came out to $18. Not bad at all. This is probably the 3rd owner of this establishment since I have been going to this joint and I always get my usual Panang chicken... However this time around It was very spicy to the point were I could not breath after taking one sip of the broth. I called and they didn't seem to care. So guess what... They lost my business forever and I am sure others will not go as well. They also now charge a .25 cent fee for any credit card transactions. Wow! that shocked me and it's not about the charge it's about the principle of using a credit card vs. cash that no one carries anymore.
