Tons of parking Really nice interior! Staff is are so friendly! Heavily respect they serve vegan food! Love the lunar new year decorations Came in for the dinner special it come with your choice of sweet and sour soup or egg drop soup A veg egg roll Steamed rice or fried rice We got the Mongolian beef and the sesame chicken. I studied in New York and during college I lived off of Chinese American food. Coming back home this is one of the closest to those experiences. Fairly priced and really big portions! This is one of those places you've probably drove by without thinking about it. Some notes The Mongolian beef consisted of velveted beef that was really tender and full of flavor like a sponge really delicious! The veg was cooked to perfection, just enough to make the greens vibrant and maintain their crunch. Sesame chicken you can tell was made straight out of the wok with a light but not greasy exterior and succulent and juicy interior! The sauce that coated these puppies was exquisite! Only 30 dollars and we were stuffed and had enough for lunch!

Szechuwan Garden, on Topanga Blvd is a place I have been to, years ago. There were fond, but mixed memories. So my impromptu visit after appetizers at the Vietnamese restaurant across the street was poignant. Here, I was in time for the lunch special and rude customer service (Gary is his name). He kept hurrying me, reminding me that they were closing soon, etc (as if I did not know). My choice was the fish with black bean sauce. Came out wonderfully prepared, with flavor, generous pieces of white fish (probably Swai) and crunchy vegetables bathed in a thick sauce. The accompanying fried rice was uneventful, just plain with a light brown color, no veggies, no egg. The egg flower soup was more brownish in color than I have seen at other places, and lacked the color, body, freshness and flavor of its competition. The egg roll though was well fried. What was unique here is the accompaniment for the included egg roll. A crucible of skillfully arranged liquids - mustard and plum sauce, together (see my pictures, this was a first). Overall, a lunch that could have been up there, was spoiled by the indifferent customer service. I did mention it to the lady at the check out counter, when asked how I enjoyed. Her response was, the standard boilerplate apology, that often signifies no modification, in the service status quo.

Lunch specials!!!! Amazing lunch combos for a portion of the price! Dine in and choose from fried or white rice! Hot and sour soups or egg drop soup. Comes with a veggie egg roll and your choice of entree. I love the tangerine chicken the modern version of orange chicken... my husband loves the lo mein and my kids devour the Broccoli and beef. Beef is super tender and satisfies our Chinese craving! Meals are about $13! Bang for your buck! It's always busy but the staff works hard to take care of the customers! Staple in our family for sure

Yum, yum, yum! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was great! My family and I definitely ordered too much food for just the three of us, but we did not regrets it one bit because everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious. The food was fresh, the portions were generous, and every dish was worth trying. I also ordered a Thai tea, it was delicious, but definitely on the sweeter side. If you enjoy sweet drinks, I highly recommend ordering one! Will forsure we back.

(I tried to email this privately but the captcha wouldn't let me send this, no matter how many times I got it right.) We've been coming here for 15+ years, always great. The hot and sour soup is my favorite. Kung pao is great, not a single thing is bad on the menu. Everything is great, honestly. But tonight I had my first bad experience... there were two pieces of steel wool in my kung pao chicken. I was chewing it, thinking it was a tough bean sprout, until I pulled it out. It was the steel wool in the picture. Again, 15+ years here and this never happened, just one time. But, I felt it's my duty to post this for them to quality control washing the dishes better because this could have been really bad if someone swallowed this.

It's been many years since setting foot in the Canoga Park Szechuwan Garden. Normally we order delivery from the Tarzana location. Tonight we walked in to order takeout. Very nice greeting and order process. Only took 15-29 minutes. Best of all... extremely tasty Chinese food. We all ate like we were at an AYCE buffet!

Great, respectful staff! Also very helpful and made suggestions. I love it when they do that (especially when they try to save you $$). I love the freshness of their food and always pick my favorites without being disappointed. I really like to sit down and have my meal here (no takeout). I just love the full experience at their tables. Lovely place and I am glad they reopened after the Covid struggle that so many businesses were facing. They remodeled and brought it up to a more modern look since then and it is bright and clean.

We had another Chinese food choice and afterwards, we wished we had chosen the other place. This restaurant is a dumpy little joint located in a truly gross strip mall. That being said, there were plenty of people eating there, and people getting take out. So, for the area, I guess this is considered one of the better places if you don't feel like driving far. They had a new item - NY style egg rolls. As a New Yorker ex-pat, I take these very seriously and look for them all the time. Unfortunately, these were chicken. You know things are going wrong at a Chinese restaurant when the egg rolls and pot stickers are chicken instead of pork. Clearly catering to people who are not Chinese food aficionados. The egg rolls were edible but in no way good. The pot stickers were meh and the size of gyoza rather than potstickers. We got the chicken with garlic sauce and the kung pao shrimp and begged them to make them extra, extra, extra spicy. As in all non-Asian areas of town, the waitresses' eyes went wide as if we didn't know what we were asking for, but she said okay. Sure enough, both dishes came and were not only not at all spicy but completely bland. I mean super, duper bland. It has nothing to do with my rating or my meal, but watching a family at the table next to us trying to eat mu shu pork and not knowing how to eat a simple age old dish like that was somewhat frightening or amusing or both. I don't know. It was like watching a train wreck in slow motion and I was captivated. Anyway, bottom line is I actually like Americanized Chinese food and even crave it sometimes to mix it up from the standard SGV authentic stuff. This just is not a good place and reminded me of all the horrible Chinese restaurants I tried throughout LA when I first moved here from NYC back in 1994. Can't recommend. Don't go.

It started off with the fact that they have a big parking lot with a ton of free parking. Once we stepped inside it was really cute. We loved the booth seating, and the variety of options. We did go an hour before their closing time, which is why it was probably quite empty, but it was nice not being in crowded place for dinner. We ordered a couple of things to share. We got the pork wontons in chili oil, the shrimp and chives boiled dumplings, the beef fried noodles, and the sweet and sour pork ribs. The food arrived pretty quickly. Great family style portion sizes, and very flavorful! The prices were also reasonable, which was a plus! Also, loved their house made chili oil. It was the perfect level of spice for me, and delicious. I poured that oil over all the food, which made the food taste even better! Overall, we had a great experience, and cannot wait to come back and try some more dishes!

This spot has built a reputation as a great alternative to some of the larger dim sum chains, so we were excited to finally check it out. We arrived right when they opened, grabbed a cozy table by the kitchen, and immediately noticed how welcoming the staff was. Service was genuinely outstanding! Everyone was friendly, attentive, and the dishes came out at a relaxed pace without ever feeling rushed. Five stars for the hospitality alone. Of course, we ordered a little feast to share: Dan Dan Noodles - My friend's favorite dish of the meal! We ordered them without meat, and they were rich, creamy, and coated in a delicious peanut sauce. I liked them but next time I'd opt to get them with meat to give them a little more flavor. 3.5/5. Pork & Shrimp Soup Dumplings - Exactly what we were craving. Each dumpling was juicy with a generous amount of filling, and once dipped in the vinegar soy sauce with fresh ginger and a little chili oil... absolute perfection. 4.5/5. Pork Chop Fried Rice - My personal favorite. The pork chop was crispy, flavorful, and cooked beautifully, while the classic egg fried rice underneath was pure comfort food. Simple, satisfying, and something I'd happily order again. 5/5. If you're spending the day in the Valley or find yourself around Woodland Hills, Dan Modern Chinese is definitely worth adding to your list. This isn't a cheap hole in the wall spot, so you'll pay a little more but everything was tasty and a great portion size for 2-3 people sharing. Tl;dr: if you're curious, don't waste your time, bafang is open 5min away Preface: I KNOW it's mall food, but for a restaurant that continuously pops up as #1 on Yelp whenever I search for food around the northridge/chatsworth area, I'm going to treat it as if it were a #1 spot. Beef noodle soup: to be very blunt, this was quite flavorless. The beef was dry as bones and looked like it was sliced with a mandoline. The noodles seemed undercooked and it felt like I was eating al dente spaghetti noodles. I got a medium spice level which didn't even seem that spicy, just a lot of cough inducing chili oil with no burn. Pan fried dumplings were ok. It honestly tasted like it was deep fried and not pan fried. Unsweetened black tea: hands down the best of the 3 things in the combo, which is quite telling. Honestly you get a decent amount of food for $15. But to constantly take the top 5 for recommended on Yelp in this area and waste my time to even look at it, it definitely doesn't belong remotely close to top 10.

The soup was not spicy imo, I have a high tolerance, but it did have a good flavor. The noodles were thick and soft but they lacked a bit of flavor. The beef was soft and flavorful with the smaller bits of beef, which resembled ground beef, were very tasty. The soup was good overall but felt a bit too oily. The dumplings had a light crunchy exterior and the inside was juicy but it felt just a bit too mushy for me. Overall a good place and I would return to try something else.
