I can't believe I've never reviewed this place. I come here about twice a week lol. The employees are very kind and knowledgeable about games. I like the songs they play in the store. They have a big selection of Xbox and PlayStation games. The Wii section is kind of small but that's my fault for still playing on my Wii. They have new games on the shelves every day, so if you don't see something you want come back another day! I've only ever bought games here (never traded in games) and their prices are fair! Less than GameStop and about the same as eBay, but I like buying here more than eBay because I know for sure the games are actually tested lol. I have bought some plushies and if you want Pikmin, Animal Crossing, or Kirby I know they have a lot of those. Overall if you like actually owning physical games, I recommend coming here! If you're in Seattle and are looking for replacement WII parts, vintage NES games, and anything game console related, Pink Gorilla is the spot. I'm not a gamer but recently was gifted an Atari console with 200 plus games. My tv didn't have a connecting cable and the staff at Pink Gorilla expertly walked me through every step of the way. It was a good 20 minute diagnosis over the phone and brought the parts both on Amazon and at the Chinatown location. The parts worked and I've been enjoying the console. The U district location had provided me with similar exceptional service. The prices are reasonable, and I don't mind paying a little more to get the in store service where I can bring in a console to test out. read more

Good selection of games, but bad in-store credit/cash offer for selling anything, just sell online. Staff vary; some seem to genuinely enjoy working there and are helpful, while others are dismissive and lack basic human socialization. The discount you get for wearing merch is neat. My personal problem is that it seems uninviting to visit, like seriously why not take advantage of your space and especially the demographic you cater towards and offer just one arcade machine to attract more engagement, offer rentals, promotional events, there are so many possibilities. I still really like this store but hopefully my rating gives them something to work towards. read more

This place is soooo... cool! We happened to step in on the way to a comedy show and we're quite surprised by the selection! Nostalgia city! If you want to get caught up in a blast from the past and actually see good deals too then this is a little gem in the city. They have so many games from so many game systems I forgot even existed! Rowan helped us diagnose what we needed, made sure that it worked, and went above and beyond in making sure we were taken care of. Ducked into the Pink Gorilla on the UDistrict's Ave, to kill more time on the meter after quick stops at Urban Outfitters and Mee Sum Pastry. Definitely well patronized as the store had several folks wandering around. Well stocked gaming store...discs and other merchandise. The Homie spent some time looking at XBox 360 and XBox One items. Really depends on the day and who is staffing if you get a good deal or not. A couple weeks ago I traded in a complete collection of ds pokemon games and got a fair price ~350 However today they gave me $104 for a 1TB PS4 Pro and a 500GB Xbox One S. Both in good working condition with controllers. $104 for the total trade in. Thats about $40 per console and $10 per controller. The same ones on their shelves are selling for well over $200-$300 dollars. I get they need to make a margin but thats a very lowball offer. Not very satisfied and while i took the offer because haggling never pans out... ill likely sell the rest of my stuff to a different store/business. read more

Love. This. Place. Wanted to get a copy of Pokémon Shield, but it was out of stock everywhere (go figure), so I was mildly surprised that Pink Gorilla had it in stock. Walked in to a retro masterpiece of games, consoles and accessories! Truly a gamer's dream stop and shop. Staff was super friendly. Annoying parking, unwelcoming staff, and a cramped storefront are the first few things that come to mind when I think about my trip to Pink Gorilla. I'm a video game collector new to the state of Washington but found quickly that this was by far my least favorite shop I've encountered. Visiting Pink Gorilla was a trip that I would not make again given the storefront and the lasting impression from my last visit. The employee interaction was weak and the collection was weaker. It's easy to see that this shop values brand and "Pink Gorilla" mascot themed merchandise more than the actual games they carry or the customers that come in. If you are a collector who knows your game's value, do not take it to Pink Gorilla to trade in unless you want to gauge interest and compare. -- Here is an example of in store trade value estimates we were given for the same item at several different game stores in the area on the same day. Pink Gorilla: $70 Super Smash Video Games Tacoma: $500 Maple Bar Games Tacoma: $550s Not only did the entire trade conversation feel impersonal, intimidating, cold, and unfair at Pink Gorilla, the employee came off as disinterested and annoyed. As a customer this store left me feeling unwelcome. Even buying a N64 cartridge at Pink Gorilla felt like a simple task that somehow became difficult when the shop didn't have it's own price tags in order. The experience was laughable at best but left a clear mindset to never go back. Even telling other collectors and local video game shops about the experience had them cringing. Do yourself a favor and support other local shops even if it takes an extra distance, you wont be disappointed. Here are other shops in the area that I much prefer: Maple Bar Games Tacoma - A very nice small store front that carries cards and games with a friendly face. This shop offers interesting finds like boxed games and a pretty impressive Virtual Boy collection Super Smash Video Games Tacoma - A large staff for a large store, this is a great place for finding import games and everything in between. It's also nice to chat with the employees while shopping Game Over Video Games Tacoma - While this shop is located in the mall, it offers a pretty nice collection of more newer boxed consoles and games. Game Lobster - This store is a bit cluttered and the staff keep to themselves but there are many surprises in store if you give the effort to search. By far my new "hidden gem" store. read more

This was my first time at this Pink Gorilla location and I really enjoyed the extra space to browse. It was nice to see some familiar faces since the staff seems to float between both locations. With the amount of time my fiance spends at their ID location is almost scary at this point, LOL. And so some of the staff has gotten to know him. As I mentioned, the merchandise was able to be more easily browsed since there was plenty of room. It felt like the selection was a bit more vast as well due to the extra space as well. It is clean, bright, and all the games are easily browseable. One treat I really enjoy when I'm at any Pink Gorilla is watching what people bring in! Parking over here takes some searching/effort, but I think it's worth it, especially if you're going to hit up Al's too! read more

This is the retro games store of Seattle. The University District location and it's sister store in the International District have their own unique inventories of new, used, and collectible games, as well as neat merchandise. You might not always find what you're looking for, but you do have a pretty good chance of finding that niche game only you played in elementary school here. All the time I see stuff I have never before seen or heard of before, so it might be worth a trip just to see rare items. Staff are great and have done an excellent job of operating during the less than stellar time for retail industry the past two years or so. read more

Employee was also very rude to us and vigorously ripping the games and manuals from the 30+ year old game boy boxes. Overrated shop based on my poor experience from the rude employee. If your ever have the chance to stop in, you should! It's a fun nostalgic experience and they have an impressive collection of games, consoles, and misc. stuff compared to other video game/media stores I have seen in the Seattle area. Staff have almost always greeted me when I come in and seem to enjoy their job (or at least do a good job of faking it). They are knowledgeable and willing to help you if there is any questions or service you need but also give you space if you just want to browse. It's how every retail store should be and they nailed it. Pink Gorilla is an iconic brand and I hope they can stay around for years to come. Obviously I wish prices could be lower for some of the prized possessions I'm looking for but they sell at market value so you can't really complain. read more

The guy behind the counter was super stand off-ish and seems mega annoyed. Not towards me though. I guess he was having a bad day. My husband hyped the store up and that sorta ruined it. But the asian girl behind the counter was insanely friendly and bubbly, very very nice and welcoming! As for the store, it was organized very well and there was pieces on almost everything in there. Some super rare games and some common ones. Very small selection of import games so that was depressing. We bought 2 games at fair prices. They also have loads of plush toys and keychains/small figures. The other location is more quaint and home-y feeling so if you're in the area, i'd probably go to the other one. Pretty unique store. Pink Gorilla is absolutely adorable. It immediately brought me back to the stores in Akihabara, Tokyo. One of the girls that works here mentioned that the owner modeled the store design with Akihabara in mind (there's a lot more room to walk though, thank goodness!). I went in today to check the prices on their used 3DS systems, because mine has been randomly forgetting that it has a game cartridge in it. The nice gentleman working there cleaned out the game port on my current 3DS without even mentioning a charge, and lamented the loss of game process without a save. It was incredibly sweet and generous of him. I also bought an adorable glittery pink gorilla pin. It's cute that they have plushies and pins for their own store as well as dozens of keychain ornaments for everything else. Also, they had PS1 consoles for $25. I'll come back for that! I love this place so much!! I'm so amazed by their selection every time I go there. A lot of used game stores are full of games nobody wants but Pink Gorilla always has rare, unique or popular games in stock somehow. I really amazes me how they do it! The prices for their products are roughly the same as you'd find online and maybe a little more expensive than some other retro stores, but the quality is guaranteed! All of their products are clean and neatly packaged and they check to make sure everything works with a 7 day trade in guarantee. I've never found sticky dirty cartridges here like I have in other places! That being said this is definitely a place for collectors and people into retro gaming, don't expect to find as many new games (although there are some). They have a lot of old consoles though so if you haven't ever owned any before this is a great place to start! Also they specialize in a lot of import products as well as plushies from Japan so if you're into that this is the place to go! read more

A fantastic shop for fans of retro-gaming. Plenty of games for all the standard retro consoles. Rare games are kept locked behind glass, and while inventory comes and goes, in general there aren't as many rare titles as I've seen at some other shops. That being said, I'm still usually able to find something I've been wanting. Good console selection too! Lots of original systems in stock, as well as the newer 3rd party multi-cartridge Retron systems. Lots of accessories as well - original as well as 3rd party controllers and adapters for those who need RCA/HDMI converters for their TVs. So while Pink Gorilla might not always have the old SNES cartridge I've been hunting for, their generally good selection of games, from Atari era all the way through present day, makes them a solid stop for anybody into this kind of thing. read more

This could potentially be biased as I spent a good amount of time bonding with the humans who run this fine establishment. I will say this though, prior to knowing the people (who are all amazing characters) I would have still given it a 5/5. They are constantly thinking of new ways to please the customers. -Old school games -Support the indie community via Chiptune events -Staff know their stuff -Mods to old school consoles -Get Japanese games and other imports -Learn from beautiful uber nerds how to do special things to your old cartridges / consoles It's one of those places you must go to at least once. Unique, chill environment, and epic stuff that you've never seen before and can buy to impress your friends. They even host events at this location. This place is heaven for a child of the 80s. Being a NES/SNES fan, I am always on the look out for the games that I played as a child. Scouring Amazon produces results, albeit expensive ones. I found Pink Gorilla through Yelp, and I have to say that they have a great selection of old school NES and SNES games. I hear that their selection at the Bellevue store is even better. It's harder to find the super popular games (Metroid, Contra, Mega Man, etc.) but you can almost always find the staples (Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, etc.). And they're pretty cheap! I usually don't spend more than $10 for a game, and they often will have specials, such as buy 2 used games and get the 3rd free. They are also a great resource for controllers, accessories, and other old school entertainment systems. The staff here is always nice and helpful. The only reason I can't give Pink Gorilla 5 stars is because I have had trouble with some of the used games. They weren't bad enough to take back, but they definitely cut some of the enjoyment out of playing them. But then again, they are old. The location is right smack in the U District, so be prepared to pay for parking if you're driving. read more

My Game Boy Advance SP charger suddenly stopped working for some reason, and I lost my Nintendo DS Lite charger altogether. Nothing that a trip to Pink Gorilla can't fix, right? I wasn't actually expecting the University District location to carry these two items that I needed, but they did have them and they were factory sealed and at only ten dollars each. I hit the jackpot at this location! Too bad their Game Boy Advance section otherwise needs a ton of improvement, though. I looked through their games and there was only one, Sonic Advance 3, that was remotely good and that I did not have. They also did not have Game Boy Advance GameSharks, which I found disappointing. The cashier, Gabe, was rather standoffish and bears a hilarious resemblance to Noah Antwiler (The Spoony One). For those reasons, I'm not giving five stars, but Pink Gorilla comes close. read more

I got an original gameboy here Last month and it works great! Its in pristine condition AND for $40 less than I was seeing them in Los Angeles at some of the retro game stores here. The gentleman in there with longer hair was super polite, informative, and I could tell really had a passion for games and people. My fave thing about this store is that all the games are so clean. They literally polish every game to get it as close to factory condition as possible and I appreciate that as a collector. Loved this place so much. I couldn't stop making laps because there was so much to see, so cool!! A ton of Japanese releases, adorable and unique plushies, and all the games were really reasonably priced! Awesome atmosphere, loved the vibe and the way everything looked (I'm a massive fan of all the pink). Awful selection of beat up games and equipment, a lot of stuff is far too damaged for the premium condition pricing they are asking for. And the staff are happy to dismiss you even when you are being reasonable. When I asked a staff member if they would be willing to sell Super Metroid closed to the online prices I was finding, she was extremely rude and dismissive. She could have simply said no, and explained why their pricing was fair, but instead she treated me like I should never come back. Got Shenmue II for a fair price. Game Over in Northgate is selling this at $20 more due to the Shenmue III hype most likely. eBay runs $5-$10 less. Another Castle doesn't carry it. Been regretting selling this game a couple years ago, glad I got it back. Found out about this place through Metal Jesus Rocks on YouTube, saw the Kelsey videos, I think that's the girl in the shop. Store selection seems pretty good, not much else in town with OGXBOX. I was happy to pay a little more, so if the game doesn't work I can return it. Had to toss a used copy of Ninja Gaiden I'd bought from some guy, you're kinda SOL if something doesn't work you got on Craigslist or eBay. read more

Props to Paublo and crew at Pink Gorilla. This store is Mecca for nerdy old-school gamers. (Don't worry, they have some newer stuff, too.) Looking for "Bayou Billy" on NES? They have it. Wanting to relive halcyon days of the TurboGrafix 16? You're in luck. (Seriously, they have games for that.) Master System, Genesis, Game Boy/Advance, and on and on. Consoles, accessories, collectibles, soundtracks, clothing, etc. This place is dripping with nerdiness. (Otherwise it's very clean.) Oh, and the prices are reasonable AND negotiable. Oh, and they host events. Card tournaments, video game tournaments, and music. Yep, music. They just started putting on shows in the back of the store, focusing on 8-bit, chiptune, and game-centric music. Have I mentioned how nerdy this place is? Gamestop doesn't hold a candle to Pink Gorilla. The staff are gamers to the nth degree, and chances are that someone in the store knows exactly which ultra-rare, limited release Atari Lynx game you're talking about. Underwhelming experience looking for an obscure part for my Atari 2600. No issue they didn't have the part, my issue was that the International District employee told me they had the part in stock at the University store. I tried calling ahead to confirm and no one answered so I went ahead and trusted the guy knew what he was saying and drove down to the U District store. Upon arriving i was told they do not have the part nor have they ever had it. I told them I tried calling ahead to confirm and no one answered the phone, where i was told the manager unplugs the phone so he can "stream at night".
