This is my go-to spot for nails! It really should have 5 stars. Gina is always engaging with her customers and making sure everyone in the salon is happy. Every time I get a Russian manicure I walk out with a perfect looking set! Oka does such a good job trimming the cuticle and dead skin away without any pain at all and I'm amazed by how long they last. I have always had problems with my cuticles itching, so I would pick at them and my manicure was ruined in a matter of days. Gina, the owner of Pink Polish took it upon herself to find the preparation ingredients and polish that does not irritate them, so my manicures last much longer, and keep their shine. Gina knows a lot about the best ingredients for mani and pedis to keep her clients' nails healthy and is happy to advise them. The salon is newly renovated, and the staff keep long hours to service her clients' schedules. She carries Korean skincare, known worldwide for its natural ingredients, and good pricing. I've been a loyal client of this salon for over a year, consistently receiving great service--and even after moving to a new neighborhood, I continued to travel to River North to support this business. I always tip generously and have even referred my sisters and aunt, who became regular clients as well. Unfortunately, after my most recent visit, I had the most disappointing and distasteful experience. At checkout, the owner, Gina, asked if I wanted to include a tip. I said yes, and she proceeded to claim I didn't tip during my last visit. I calmly corrected her, letting her know that I absolutely did tip--and even remembered giving it in cash, which is rare for me. Despite this, she argued with me in front of a salon full of clients. This public confrontation was completely inappropriate and unprofessional. After years of loyalty, I was stunned to be treated with such disrespect. As a result, I will no longer be giving this salon my business, and I've shared my experience with my family members who also patronized the salon because of me. They, too, have decided to stop supporting the business. Loyalty and respect go both ways, and unfortunately, this experience made it clear that my continued support is not valued. read more

I have been going here intermittently for years. Today I had a new manicurist. She was lovely but inexperienced. My pedicure was just ok- she just forgot to do standard care. I had a no chip manicure which was just awful. The nails were rough and it was unclear if she had the correct top coat applied. Finally, the owner Chris, left her client and took a few minutes to make the necessary improvements. This is the first time ever that I did not leave a tip and with so many salons to choose from, I will not be back. All and all I was disappointed as this was a go-to place. When I called to make the appointment I was told 55 for mani pedi but was charged 65 when I actually went there. They just quoted a price to make me come to the salon - extremely unprofessional. A fine little neighborhood spot, but nothing to travel a long ways for! Fortunately for me, I live about two blocks away so it's the perfect place for me to go and get a pedicure for my little tootsies and not have to worry about wearing boots there and back in winter (yes, this is something girls worry about and no, I don't care if guys reading this think it's silly). DO NOT GO HERE! This place is extremely racist. Throughout my 38 years on this earth; this is the first time I've ever experienced blatant racism as an African American woman. I walked in to get a pedicure and there was only one other patron there which was a Caucasian women. I thought ok this great there shouldn't be a wait. Immediately after I walked in, another Caucasian woman walked in; she was greeted and asked what would she like and was seated for service. I politely brought to their attention that I walked in first. She proceeded to tell me that the other patron had a nail appointment, which I found to be a complete lie because she didn't ask the patron her name or appointment time. Then I asked do they accept walk ins, she said NO ! I'm sorry! Clearly a lie. ( See photo below) So I asked If there were any slots available and, she told me NO I'm sorry again. This was enough for me. I politely exited and took note. I don't want to support any business that will treat a person like this any. The most amazing part of all of this, is, you would think they would understand the trails of being minority. I cannot write on their nail services but I will say I do not recommend this place for an eyebrow wax. That was a BAD IDEA. I know- what do I expect? I was being cheap and lazy! As a result, I have no arch in my eyebrows. The wax they use is cheap- it made my skin all red for an hour and I do not have sensitive skin. Clean, professional and quick---just over an hour for a mani/pedi. Instead of using the built-in spa tubs for the pedicure, each chair had a removable plastic tub. This may be normal, or it may be temporary---I got the impression the salon is only in its current location until another location is updated/renovated but I'm not positive if that's the case. I have problem toes (I'm a runner and lost some nails training for the last marathon) and the staff was immediately understanding and gentle with them. I also got a free pair of sandals! The manicure was average to good and included a finger soak, massage and hot towel treatment. I will be going back to this basic neighborhood nail salon, mostly because I am paranoid about cleanliness when it comes to pedicures and Pink Polish gets high marks for sanitation! read more

I'm not kidding, when you ask a woman what they don't like about the District, I guarantee you that a lack of affordable, clean, good nail salons is on that list. Pink Polish is just dandy. I am visiting Chicago from San Francisco, and happened upon PInk Polish because it's around the corner from my sister-in-law's place, where we are staying. Wow! I am so lucky to have found this little gem. It's your standard run of the mill nail place, as far as decor goes, but the extra massages, attention-to-detail, deluxe spa chairs, and close-captioned plasma TV broadcasting the E channel made it so much more special! Make sure you give yourself time, because they do the pedicure first, and then move you to the manicure table later (which I loved... got a little celebrity gossip magazine fix, and then when I had the manicure I just watched tv - no polish/water/page turning or magazine on the lap juggling happening here!), so it takes a little longer but I think WORTH THE TIME! And my technician was definitely a pro - she really made me feel like she was interested in whether my nails looked good or not, and whether I felt good, rather than moving me on through the line like cattle as they sometimes do at my regular places in SF. The neck & shoulder massage as my nails dried puts this place over the top - hands down the best mani-pedi I've ever had. I'll definitely be coming back here on return trips! read more

This used to be my main place to get my occasional mani-pedi, but I'm slowly tiring of the quality you get at these "assembly line" nail salons. On a good note, Pink Polish is always clean and the manager, Chris, has went to great lengths to make it a really cute space. From my experience, she was always very professional and always did a good job, but I rarely see her since she's hired more nail technicians. Now, it's hit or miss. The last couple times I've been in there, the service was less than stellar. It seems to go downhill after I've applied my tip to the bill....grrrrr. It's usually been me having to point out strands of cotton or bubbles in my polish. They see this crap just as well as I do, but they're bankin' on me not saying anything. Once, I had to return the next day b/c the polish peeled off. Twice, I've had to have both hands redone, only to get the icy breeze from the technician. Duh! Do you really think I'm gonna let you send me out with a half ass nail job after I've given you extra? Negative. Enough is enough! No longer will I pay $54 for sloppy. I'm ready to pay more to someone who will take the time to do a good job instead of rushing to get the next walk-in. read more

I was meeting friends for dinner downtown and had some time to kill. What better than some freshly laquered nails? I quickly pulled out my iPhone and yelped the closest, decent place in the area and came across Pink Polish. I walked over there and was somewhat unimpressed by the look of the place but decided to head in anyways. I am very hesitant about where I get my pedicure for fear or fungi or flesh eating bacteria but I'm more lax with manicures. I was quickly seated and the nail tech got to work. The manicure wasn't overly pampering and she worked quickly but she did an excellent job. Each nail was perfect and now, 5 days later, my nails have not chipped and my cuticles are still hangnail free. I also spoke to an older woman in the shop at the dryer machine and she said she's been all over the city and consistently comes back to pink polish because they do such a good job. I also noted that they had lots of new colors unlike lots of places that try to pass off last seasons colors as new. It's too bad this place isn't closer to home but maybe i'll start coming after work. read more

4 stars for the Salon, 5+ stars for Jay! You know when you have a secret, a really good secret, you know you shouldn't tell anyone but you just have to? That is how I feel about Jay. I like always being able to get an appointment with Jay, so I want to keep his greatness on the down low. On the other hand, I just can't contain myself. I think Jay is a trainee or something, because I haven't seen him give many mani/pedis. He's usually helping with towels, etc. But man, if you are lucky enough to get him, be prepared for extra massage, extra pampering and just the absolute royal treatment! Overpriced and kind of rude. I have been here probably 5 times and I just can't get myself to like this place. It is for sure more pricey then some other nail salons within near proximity. And the service...it is just not very friendly. I always feel like I am being chatted about. Which is fine, I probably do the same thing if I was dealing with people's feet all day, but do not make it so OBVIOUS. Also, on one particular occasion, I was spending some time with my co-workers 8 year old daughter after work and we decided to get our nails done (SO much fun for a young girl). It was 30 minutes before they were set to close, they were not full , and there were at least 2 nails techs available. Yet, we were told that they could not accommodate us. I even asked if they can just do the little girls nails and they very rudely said no. Needless to say, the girl was crushed and I proceeded to tell then that we would be taking our business to a salon down the street (which we did). Went there for a mani/pedi and it was PACKED! I thought I wouldn't get in for at least an hour but they said 15 min. So across the street I went to grab an iced tea from Starbucks while I waited. Went in, was seated shortly after that for my mani. The woman did a good job. On to the pedi and same thing... I love that they didn't rush me and make me get my mani/pedi at the same time. Though I wish I would have gone in reverse order so I could read my magazine while I got my pedi. The woman could have spent a little more time scrubbing my heels but overall it was a solid mani/pedi. Prices were average and they even offer no-chip. I would LOVE to get a no-chip but not at the price difference of $30 extra dollars! Side note, there was a group of 5 women getting their spa on who brought in wine and cheese.
