NEVER coming back. This was my second time with my family . The first time I cut them some slack, hoping the treatment was just a fluke. Turns out this is their standard treatment. Not only is the food not authentic Peruvian food, they literally OVER price EVERYTHING. There's a saying in Spanish " se puede disfrazar a un mono de seda, oro y perlas, pero un mono siempre será mono", translation: You can try to dress up a monkey with silk, gold and pearls, but a monkey will always be a monkey. There are better Peruvian restaurants in Seattle. They may not have arrogant, unfriendly, racist waiters, but those places although humble in appearance, are A LOT more accommodating, helpful and better quality food... not to mention better flavored. Huacatay sauce had not real spice, it was the blandest I've ever had. We started with Papa a la Huancaina: it was sweet?? Why is this sauce sweet?? Zero heat from the Aji Amarillo ‍ Not to mention, literally ONE fingerling potatoe cut into small pieces, fried and drizzled with the sweet sauce... charged $10 for that ridiculousness!!! Next the Lomo Saltado was not seasoned well either. I asked for an Arroz chaufa that came with a burst undercooked runny egg and since I asked for it to be chicken, they gave me some marinated chicken thigh, again under seasoned and bland, instead of having incorporated into the rice. Arroz chaufa is supposed to be a Chinese type stir fried dish. These guys are taking good food and making a mess out of it just so they can charge people $30 for street food. It's a joke! And I'm sure most of the people that come through here, that have never had real Peruvian food, will go in and think it's great. But the bubble bursted here is that, they aren't being served authentic flavor. Aside from all of that, the waiter, like I have already touched on, gave HORRIFIC customer service. I'm sure because I'm Latina just like him, and probably could tell I know what this is supposed to taste like, already starts treating us inferior to him.... Really bro?? Instead of being glad someone came in to patronize his establishment ( because it's pretty much empty most of the time) he acts like he has better things to talk about with his friend at the bar. So we had our food dropped off and instead of asking if we need anything else, before we knew it, he was GONE! Where you ask, did he go?? The bar. So I'm having to ask the lady cooking behind the counter if we could get a lime, or some sauce, ice for my drink?? It's hot out this summer but you can't serve your drinks with ice considering I'm being charged $4/5 PER drink??? Oh and the cherry on top was when they brought us the bill!!!!! HE HAD THE NERVE to add to our bill a ADVANCE service charge of 20% FOR WHAT??? I asked, because 1. WE ARE A PARTY OF 4 ONLY 2. WHAT DID HE DO TO DESERVE THAT SIZE TIP OR ANY TIP PERIOD??? 3. WHHHYYYYY did this dude only come around to take my plate TWICE, while I was clearly not done eating??? According to him: "it's NOW standard to include the service charge regardless of party size." I then asked, WHERE is this standard of yours posted???? Why are customers NOT made aware of this ridiculous rule of theirs??? Oh and as if we weren't nickeled and dimed enough, they charged for the tiny cup of sauce we asked for... like they're Buffalo Wild Wings charging for ranch... yeah REAL CLASSY!!! So long story short... been here done that, NEVER DOING IT AGAIN!!! BIG HUGE MISTAKE. I'm sad to write this considering I REALLY hoped for better. But it's clear their main concern is your money and not having to provide good service for it... I mean, they're doing you a FAVOR making you something different right???? Next time we sticking to the other Peruvian places... they're out there. This one isn't the spot they hype it to be though. read more

Husband and I had dinner here last night. It was a wonderful experience, we absolutely love family run businesses. They truly take pride in their service and what they offer on the menu. We decided to purchase a bottle of wine and the hostess steered us towards the Nebbiolo. Great choice! We then asked what would be best to pair with it, she advised us to try the "Arroz con Mariscos", a seafood rice dish and the "Estofado de Polo", chicken stew with vegetables. We started with the "Causa de Alcachofa", an appetizer of whipped potatoes with artichokes. The dishes paired beautifully with the wine. The hostess told me that the other waitress is studying for her first sommelier test, which makes perfect sense the wine list was that good and the prices quite reasonable. For desert they suggested "Helado de Pisco", a gelato served with a sugar cookie which they paired with a white port. We love finding places like this, small family owned restuarants with the fancier restuarant knowledge of food and wine. The meal came to about $150 with tip, which for the quality was very reasonable. We will definitely be coming back again! read more

Absolutely delicious experience! Came here for my friend's birthday dinner and had a great time. Upon entering, everyone was super welcoming and I love the atmosphere and decor here. We started off with the Ceviche Classico and they gave some free corn nuts too! I've never had ceviche like this before but it was so good! For my main course, I ordered the Pescado Ahumado (black cod), again so so good. Overall wonderful experience, yes it's a little pricey, but in my opinion 100% worth it. read more

Ordered Ceviche Classico and the top two popular entrees as recommended. Ceviche is super good! Also love the sweet potato in the dish. The beef tenderloin and the black cod are also well cooked. Both entrees have Risotto which is creamy and quite fulfilling. Had chocolate gelato as dessert. It's made like a cocktail and is so delicious that I ate all of it even feeling quite fool after finishing my entree. The owner(maybe) of the restaurant seems like a free and happy Peruvian man, dancing around along with the music and serving customers with obvious joy. read more

The owners are usually there and they ensure to say hello. I hosted a friends dinner there and we had the most amazing server and host. We didn't have to ask twice for anything. What's most important is their food. First of all if you are going to a Peruvian restaurant the Pisco Sour it's a must. Their ceviche and their pulpo is one of my favorites. As for their main I have consistently ordered their lomo saltado or Arroz con Mariscos. Considering I am born and raised in Lima, Peru, I am always scared to try a Peruvian restaurant in the US due to the fear of being disappointed. OMG I am so happy I found Pink Salt!!!! I no longer have to drive to Portland to get my Peruvian fix that I crave so much when I'm homesick. Ana Sofia and Corino who own and run Pink Salt could not be more gracious or dedicated to every detail to ensure you have a lovely experience, even through these difficult Covid times. This was our first outing to a restaurant since March, and as soon as we walked in we were welcomed with warm smiling eyes that soothed my covid anxiety. The restaurant was seated at 50% capacity to ensure everyone's safety and Ana Sofia and Corino visited every table in a timely and kind manner to make sure everyone felt taken care of but also giving one the privacy to truly enjoy the full experience. Now the culinary experience , ay madre mía! Everything made me feel like I was back at home! Beginning with a perfect pisco sour, a refreshing and authentic Peruvian ceviche, delicious papa la huancaina, and perfectly cooked octopus just to start with! We couldn't pick just two entrées so we went for three and boy are we happy we did that because all three were delicious! The Causa Ferrenafe with Rock Fish was outstanding, the Arroz con Mariscos was perfect and the steak with chimichurri and pesto risotto was spectacular! Of course we had to save space for my favorite dessert ever Suspiro de la Limeña and they were spot on, even adding a little Lucuma which is very particular of Peru and so delicious! Only mistake we made was not bringing friends with us so we could try all the other plates I was dying to taste!!! Can't wait to return, this is truly an amazing gem with authentic Peruvian tastes, fantastic service, and owners that truly care about making your experience memorable in every way! This gem of a loosely fusion Peruvian food place is a fantasy come true for someone who loves Peruvian food! We arrived a few minutes before our reservation, and were given a choice of sitting by a window or by a window hahaha! This brought a smile to our faces, and would later prove to be an auspicious beginning to our evening, as our dinner would be filled with plenty of smiles, wows and fun chatter. We began the evening with Passion Fruit Pisco Sour (Maracuya), which was ah-may-zing!!!!!!!! Later, we tried the Chicha Morada Pisco Sour, but while really good, it didn't top the Maracuya, so we had a second round of those :) For dinner we went with the classics: Lomo Saltado and Seco de Cordero. The Lomo Saltado (beef and veggies wok, white rice, fries), was absolutely perfect! In fact, I only noticed that it was rather low in salt--a good choice, to allow for personal preference. I'm always OK with lower salt than too much, as the former can easily be fixed, but the latter is much harder to remedy. The Seco de Cordero with a side of Risotto in Huancahina Sauce (queso fresco, oil, yellow pepper) was scrumptious! For dessert, we put together a small sampler of Suspiro a la Limena with Maracuya (the best!!!!), Alfajores (shortbread and dulce de leche sandwiches, which were just A-OK), and a not-so-good Dark Chocolate Mousse (we weren't sure about the vision for this dessert, but we hope a future revision will bring it to the level of the other 2). Throughout dinner Dylan was an attentive, detailed, funny and diligent friend who just happened to bring us food we liked. He puts to shame some servers we've met in fancier places :) We also had the pleasure of meeting Sofia and Corino, the warm owners who meticulously assembled the menu, settle for nothing but the best ingredients to bring to Seattle a fantastic experience that finally fills an egregious gap in the otherwise rich Seattle culinary scene!! Overpriced for what I got. Lomo Saltado had 4 pieces of onions 2 little tomatoes and 4 little pieces of steak. I was kinda shocked and asked if this is the norm. She told me it's because it's some hot shot beef from New Zealand. That's cool but there's barely an oz of beef combine. It was just rice and French fries for way more money than anyone should spend. Go Don Lucho's if you want be filled up and not feel ripped off. This is my opinion so go enjoy and have fun lol read more

Overall a relaxing and pleasant place to eat. The food was exquisite, the ambiance is gorgeous, and our waiter had an affable manner paired with a spirit of hospitality which really elevated our dining experience to the next level. My husband and I sat at the second table away from the fireplace (we both love that there is a fireplace in this restaurant). The pink crystal/salt wall at the bar, the low round lights, and the cobalt-blue velvet booths complimented each other perfectly. For some reason, our particular table perhaps had been moved a couple of feet over from its original location. I'm guessing about that (I don't know for sure if that was the case) since this week was our first time eating there, but I noticed that all of the other low-hanging lights hung directly over the middle of the tables, however, there was a large, round, low-hanging light about 2 feet to the right of our table, hanging down in mid-air. This might've been fine if the light didn't hang quite so low. As it was, fortunately I have quick reflexes and managed to avoid plowing face-first into the 12" glass sphere that encased the light. I'm 5'8" tall and the 12" glass sphere was directly on par with the height of my face when walking/standing, and I was walking to my table to sit at it. Our sweet waiter unfortunately didn't have reflexes quite as fast as mine, and he banged his head twice on the glass sphere encasing the light. I felt badly for him and my husband and I moved the table over 2 feet before we left so that it was (once again?) located directly underneath the low-hanging glass sphere-encased light. I wished we would've thought to move it sooner, but it took me a while to notice the difference between our light and the other lights, and by that time our table was full of plates of food. My husband had the octopus starter, which I had a few bites of and really liked (he liked it too) and the pork belly sandwich entree. I had the dungeness crab and whipped potato starter (amazing, the flavors paired beautifully in this starter) and the lamb entree with carrots, chickpeas, and peas (I asked for the peas to be left out, and they accommodated my request without any fuss). The lamb was incredibly moist and flavorful, hearty and nourishing. I loved it. I might've liked to have had a glass of wine with my dinner. However, I'd been hoping to see a Peruvian-sourced wine choice (or at the very least, a few South American-sourced wine choices - I'm not actually sure if Peru has vineyards!) but almost all of the wines on the wine list were sourced from France, Italy, and California, and they didn't have a single wine on the menu that was sourced from South America, so I decided against having wine with my dinner. I'm far from a wine snob - I don't know a lot about wine. However, I felt that I could've had wines like the ones on this wine menu at almost any restaurant, and I would've preferred at least a few wine options that could've added to the Peruvian/South American taste experience. So my husband and I only drank water. There were a couple of miscommunications with our waiter, but he was almost always on point, and I don't think total fault for those miscommunications necessarily lies with him. He was also extremely busy as he was also servicing the bar. Overall the service was very good and very classy. I read other yelp reviews for Pink Salt before going there this week (thanks, fellow yelpers!) so my husband and I had an idea of the cost before going there. We only drank water (as mentioned), and we ordered 2 starters and 2 entrees, tipped close to 25%, and got out of there for $110.00. I am undecided on price for value. I am not convinced it's an amazing bargain, but I'm also not convinced it wasn't worth the cost, especially given that ambiance and service are both huge parts of the dining experience and this restaurant gets 4.5 stars for service and absolutely 5 stars for ambiance from me. Not to mention the food was very good. Maybe the typical Peruvian eats smaller portions of food in general than the typical American. Now that I think of it, maybe people in 100+ countries eat smaller food portions than Americans do! (I'm American born and raised, but have/have had a lot of friends that were born in other countries and/or currently live in other countries.) However, this restaurant is obviously located in America, no matter where its food influences and inspirations come from, and I saw a comedy video the other night that said that the way to piss off Americans is to give them small food portions!! Ha. This American (me!) was not pissed off, though, and left full and happy. Recommended, as long as eating small portions for lots of money doesn't bother you! read more

One year later my experience in this establishment was the same, ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. To take the emotions out of this review, I slept on it before writing this review/rating. Customer Service - 3 of 10 (1) Waited 45 minutes for Jerk Wings appetizer, the establishment was half full (2) Food only served the way the Chef wants to make it - I spend my hard earned money to eat what I want, not what is dictated to me. Same answer on multiple requests (3) Forced tips of 18% even with bad service for a table of 2 (two) - no group Value - 4 of 10 - High priced with bad service = Poor Value Food Authenticity - 3 of 10 - I am Jamaican - there was nothing Jerk about Jerk Shrimp, more like Shrimp Stew, menu describes the chef as fusion but the basic tastes were simply missing. Two visits to this establishment, same result - enough for me not recommend it, will not return. read more

Finally a Peruvian restaurant in Seattle!!!!! My wife (Peruvian) and I love Peruvian food and we so excited to try Pink Salt. With the kids in tow we ventured from Shoreline to Magnolia. We started with the Pisco sour and El Capitan. They came out in some rather small cocktail glasses and both we good but not great. We ordered the ceviche, causa, pulpo, lomo Saltado and anticuchos for food and all were extremely small portions. The food was very good so compliments to the chef for such tasty dishes. The reason I will never be back to this restaurant is because of the astronomical pricing they have. Small portions for the prices of full meals. No kids menu so not the most family friendly unless you want to shell out $15 for a couple of small steak skewers. Lots of hope for this place but clearly not for me. Go to Andinas in Portland if you want a great Peruvian restaurant that doesn't gauge their customers. read more

Friday night with my relatives from overseas. Drove around Seattle taking pictures of beautiful scenery. 7pm in Magnolia. Drove by Pink Salt. Loved the inviting glow, came in. Ordered drinks. Mine was margarita and it took awhile and I did not like it. There was no love in making it. Switched to Pisco. Yeah, get Pisco there. It was done nicely with a cinnamon lama form sprinkled on top. Chicken and rockfish - both very nice, tender, flavorful. Potatoes with garnish over it distributed with tweezers. Nice touch. Hope tweezers are used only in this way - Service was genuine but oh so scattered with items being brought a bit late after being forgotten. The bill had a returned drink still showing and $155 was reduced to $125 without us asking but after the fact.. I don't know about our experience.. good and chaotic. You know.. it's like when you start over and over the lawnmower.. eventually grass is cut but the process.. read more

Excellent addition to the Magnolia dining scene. Good food and drinks, service, and a nice room. While this location hasn't been a success for a long secession of establishments, I'm hoping this is one that lasts. Parking is easy on the street. One serious complaint: If a restaurant is going to add a mandatory 20% gratuity on customer's checks, the amount should be based on the cost of the meal NOT INCLUDING THE TAX AMOUNT! Because that makes a 20% tip (which, after all, used to be 15%, and then 18%, and now has morphed into 20%) turn into a 22% tip. That I don't like--not a bit. This restaurant needs to correct this. read more

I really want to like this restaurant, sadly was a big disappointment. The food was mediocre and overpriced. The chicken looked like airplane food, the yuca came with pieces of aluminium foil, it was reheated. The dipping sauce of the yuca: canned mustard. The maracuya salad was just greens and very light (possibly canned) dressing. For dessert, the ice cream was great (from nutty squirrel), but the alfajor crust was bad, old and chewy. This is a very welcome addition to the Seattle restaurant scene. It has only been open for a day or two and the food is already excellent. We went on Saturday night and had steak, ceviche, and some really good drinks. The potato appetizers are cold but very tasty. The steak was well-flavored and cooked. The pisco sour is excellent! We live in Magnolia and was excited for a new restaurant in the village. Our evening at Pink Salt probably would have been better with a different server. The one we had seemed a bit scattered from "hello". She explained the specials which sounded delicious. We ordered a Ceviche starter with our drinks. Yes...Pisco sour...yum. It was good and they had a good draft beer for my husband. So ordered starters, drinks, and our entrees. I had one question about one of the meat entrees and the server answered a bit sarcastically...as if I should have known the answer...??? Brushed that off. So the evening had all the beginnings of a super night. Dining outside, Saturday night was a beautiful night, with good drinks and a ceviche on the horizon. Ceviche never showed until after our entrees. Funny, just minutes before I said something to my husband that it was taking a LONG time for anything food to come out. Ceviche???? Along comes our entrees. We said something and her reaction was a bit???well. The server acted as though she didn't notice we ever ordered it. With our entrees served here came the ceviche. It was very good! Would have enjoyed it even more had we gotten it as a starter. The chicken special that evening wasn't all that good. Peruvian food typically has many layers of unique flavors. This dish did not. It just tasted like boiled chicken missing the layers of Peruvian flavors. My steak meal was good but if I'm being honest I could have made it myself. Lacking again the layers of flavor. We know this as we have traveled to Peru and all of South America. In the end, we have decided to only go there for drinks and starters because we so enjoy being able to sit outside on a beautiful evening!. read more
