Great nail selection, and the staff were really friendly. My pedicure was great. There was lotion, a massage, hot towels, rather than just one or two of those services. I have never had an issue with chipped nails - I get both regular polish and sometimes no chip manicures. I was really hoping to find a regular Nail place in our neighborhood and wanted to avoid Pinkys since there are a million locations in Chicago. Well, after a number of visits, this place is my spot. They're always pretty busy, which is a good sign, and they keep everything super clean. Their prices are just okay, a little pricy, but they do a good job. I've gotten my nails done by a number of people, but Deegii and Cameron have both done an awesome job several times. This is my neighborhood spot for 3 years. They are great with basic nail services and waxing, but do not offer acrylic nails or elaborate art, which likely caters to the local clientele. The pedicure chairs offer better massages than I've had by hand and the neck massage they offer with every nail service is a wonderful relaxing ending to the visit. The huge TV will keep you entertained if you are fidgety like me. They always go out of their way to get you in and give you a nice experience. The no chips I've gotten here are rushed and destroy my nails (I've gotten no chips at other places, even back to back up to six months and my nails stayed healthy). I would avoid this place at all costs. I went in for a quick manicure because my agency had called and notified me that I had a casting and my hands needed to be in good shape. I arrived and the front desk lady went to the back to get a worker... Out strolls a woman who looked disgusted that I interrupted her. The whole time during my manicure the woman seemed as if she hated her job. I was in a hurry to make it to the casting so I really didn't look over my nails. I paid the $15 and left a $5 tip... BIG MISTAKE! As I hop into a cab I look at my nails and notice they are uneven and unsightly! After arriving to the casting the photographer looks at my hands and just starts shaking his head NOOOOOOOOO! I was screwed by Pinkys! Luckily the shoot wasn't for a week and I had time to regrow my nails. I ended up going to Polish and Pour (401 E Ontario St) the day of the shoot and the lady did an awesome job! Seriously don't go to Pinky's unless you have no other choice... And even then you might be better off going to a blind panhandler and paying him the $15 dollars. I went to Pinky's multiple times, and it usually turned out okay. However, each time I felt rushed, never feeling pampered. The last time I went though will be my last time there. I got a no-chip manicure with pedicure. After just 1.5 days, the manicure started to lift. I have never had a manicure lift off my nail. I would have gone back to complain, but we went on vacation the day after I got my mani/pedi. Before 2 weeks, the normal timeframe for a no-chip, one entire nail lifted off. I had 3 others about ready to completely fall off, so I decided I needed to go get my nails done before the 2 weeks were even up. This is very frustrating considering you pay a lot more for a no-chip than just a regular manicure. I won't be returning even though this location is just down the road from me. read more

Great experiences at Pinky's. The people who work here are so darn friendly! I typically go on a Friday after work to start my weekend wind down. Even when I do not have an appointment I am usually quick to be seated. They have a great selection of nail colors. love the latest and greatest at the front counter. ok, yes. pinky is more expensive than your run of the mill nail place. i know. but i keep going back regardless. its close to my house and i get great service every time. whenever i get a pedicure, i seriously consider replacing my living room furniture with their pedicure chairs. top quality, massaging that actually feels good, heated seats, mm mm mm. i typically get the mani/pedi and seriously, one time, i had a mani that didnt chip for 9 days. NINE DAYS. it was the end of days of something. but anyways, theyre good. good color selection too. but heres the kicker. the hot towel shoulder massage. they kind of have you lean over the manicure station and they rub down your neck and shoulders and upper back, pretty much exactly where i store all my stressies. ask for tom. hes the best. also, if youre on the cheap and short on time, just go in for a polish change rather than a mani. all the other good stuff for like 10 bucks. worth it. read more

Perfect from beginning to end! Packed but I didn't wait long. it was nice and quiet. at most mail salons, you are subjected to the foreign conversions b/t the nail techs. However @ pinkys, they remained professional and only chatted w/ their clients. I was in and out in less than one hour, and my mani is flawless! I had a gift certificate and soko,my nail tech, still performed as if I were paying cash, including two massages (hands & shoulders). I'll start with the pros: Pros -wide selection of colour -comfortable seats -good job filing down nails Cons -snippy customer service: 'What do you want?' is not the substitute for 'Hello" for Any customer! Just because a person isn't dressed in their finest designer threads (I was not dressed like a slob, either; sun dress) doesn't incur rudeness. -Saying you have 'fat feet' is not encouraging to the customer for a repeat visit. They were being cheap and didn't want to slip my *fat* feet into their salon, paper slip-ons. I had to insist, as I was in day-to-day slip ons that they couldn't manage to put on my foot. I recently tried this place on a busy Thursday evening. I walked in and she said it was an hour wait and asked if I wanted to come back. I did come back an hour later and they tended to me immediately. They thanked me for returning and they were just all really nice ladies. The pedicure was awesome and it was a basic pedi which still included a nice foot massage. I don't do much more than basic pedi , mani so I can't comment on other services. I've been going to this Pinky Nail since I moved into this neighborhood from Hyde Park two years ago (and let me tell you, nail salons are not easy to come by in Hyde Park). I wanted to try the ones on Madison or in the Desplaines shopping center, but apparently those aren't associated with the original Pinky and I feel pretty compelled to support the originals (especially if the rip offs are such rip offs that they even use the same logo and are currently being taken to court for it - I asked). I've gotten nail service and waxing service at this location and I've gotten 5-star service from Pinky all of the times I've gone except these last two times. I say two times because I had to go twice in two days - once for my pedi and once for my full set of gel nails. I called on the first day just to be sure they could fit me in because it was a couple hours before closing and I didn't want to go over there if they were packed. Me: "Hi, if I came in in about five minutes, could you fit me in for a pedicure and a full set?" Her: "A pedicure?" Me: "Yeah, and a full set?" (she talks to someone else for a moment) Her: "You just need a pedicure?" Me: "A pedicure and a full set, please?" (she talks to someone else again) Her: "Yeah, we can do a pedicure." Me: "And a FULL SET OF ACRYLIC NAILS?" Her: "Yeah, we can do that." I walk down there. Me: "Hi, I just called about a pedicure and a full set?" Her: "A pedicure?" Me: "AND A FULL SET?" (she looks at Sara - who is awesome - and apparently the only person who knows how to do acrylics) Her: "Sara! Full set?" Sara: "No, not today." Her: "No, we can't do a full set today. What about a pedicure?" Me: "Yeah, a pedicure... but you know, I just called and you and you said you could do it." Her: "Yeah, well.... You want a pedicure?" Now, I'm not talking smack about the language barrier or anything like that - it was just obvious that she wasn't listening to me on the telephone. I don't know if every place just calls acrylics "full sets" like the skanky places I'm used to going, and I also don't know if fake nails are considered skanky themselves now... judging by the fact that it seemed like not many of them could do acrylics, maybe acrylic nails aren't as common as they used to be. I usually get mani-pedis, but my real nails are to' up at the moment and I needed to cover them up. I love everything about the mani-pedis here - the massage chairs, the hot water, the hot towels, the leg/arm/back massages - it's all terrific. And I have nothing but raves for Sara. It didn't look like she applied acrylics on a regular basis, it took longer than I'm used to, but she was super detail oriented and friendly. She accidentally gave me a little cut on my pinky that I didn't even notice (my cuticles are were so dry and disgusting I'm surprised the skin didn't crack on all of them) and was super apologetic and very cautious with it for the duration. My phone rang, she asked me if I wanted to answer it, I said it wasn't necessary. Then that person called back - TWICE. She made me stand up so she could take my cell phone out of my pocket - it was hilarious. I felt like an asshole, but she told me it was fine. She offered me a glass of water, gossiped with me about Lindsay Lohan's jail sentence (their flat screen seems to only get the E! channel, which is fine with me), she was great. The tips of the artificial nails are white - which is weird. I will paint over them. The customer service on the telephones is not awesome. The prices are totally reasonable, I think, and the quality of work is great as well. If I decide to keep up with the fake nails, I may go somewhere else, only because it doesn't seem to be their specialty - but when I get them soaked off and want a great manicure to try to bring my poor, damaged fingernails back to life - I'll go to Pinky. Not the best place to get a manicure. I've been to Pinky about a half a dozen times because it's close to where I live but I always feel rushed here. The manicures are so hit or miss here. The quality really depends on the manicurist but when they're not done well, they're really not done well. My most recent and final visit to Pinky resulted in my nails being cut so short that they were sore. Next time, I'll go out of my neighborhood to get my nails done. read more

I said let me try this place it looks kind of expensive but I will give it a try I walked in asked for a gel no chip fill in. There was about 5 technicians physically at the store and only one customer drying her nails but was astonished when the technician said not today? REALLY ??? I have been meaning to stop in for a while since I've only lived in the neighborhood for the past 3 years. I had a wedding that I was going to, and this place helped me out in my jam to get my nails done. The water temperature for my hands and feet were perfect. My aesthetician was an older lady that didn't seem to speak a lot of English, but that was fine. I was quite exhausted and really appreciated the shoulder rub she gave during the manicure process. It made me realize how desperately I needed a massage. I think she could have done more with trimming and pushing down my cuticles. I also have a lot of excess dry skin that was peeling that could also use some extra TLC. I like that the dryer/UV fans are on timer so that you know when you can leave. In any case, I know I should be using more lotion to help take care of the problem myself. Prices were a little more than average that I would spend $40 for both mani-pedi, but they also have specials on certain days of the week. read more

I went to this place regularly (every 2 weeks for a no-chip manicure) for close to a year and things were great. Then a few months ago the technicians started butchering my cuticles to the point where at least one finger was bleeding 4 out of 5 visits in a row, each with a different technician. I kept trying them again because they'd been good for so long and I figured it had to just be certain technicians. I found a new place for manicures but decided to try again for a pedicure. Bad decision because the technician made one big toe bleed and another toe also hurts because of how she dealt with the cuticles. Will never go back. read more

I love their location in the Jewel shopping plaza and I love that they have a parking lot. Their pedicures were ok - not great, not bad, just run of the mill. Did an average job and spent an average amount of time working on me. I give them three stars because I find it to be pretty expensive at $35. I want to love this place! Everyone is nice and my no-chip manicures look great when I walk out of the door (no air bubbles in the top coat) but, two days later my "no-chip" manicure chips. I can usually go two weeks with no chips! The first time I went in my "no-chip" manicure chipped after two days and my "no-chip" pedicure chipped after a week. I told myself I would never go back, but the other day I saw a sign that said under new management. So I decided to try them again. Big bummer - two chipped nails after two days. This is the closest salon to my house, so I go merely for convenience but my "con" list is becoming more and more consistent and I'm ready to move on. The pros: great supply and variety of the latest magazines, excellent selection of Essie and OPI colors, clean/current decor facility and the mini-massage mid-manicure is nice. The cons: I always feel rushed, they never seem to paint my entire nail always missing a side or tip and consistently NOT painting close enough to my cuticle (biggest pet peeve) so that it always looks like my manicure is grown out by day two, either way it tends to chip and lose that glossy "just painted" look by day two. For me- it's worth driving somewhere else to get a manicure that looks good and will last at least 3 days and is done by a person that helps me relax instead of makeing me feel like I'm in the way- isn't the point of a manicure to be pampered? read more

Even though this place is walking distance from my place i prefer to drive to the other Pinky on Damen (with the other owner). They are cleaner, nicer and the manicures last 5-7 days longer than this location/owner....and they are less expensive! No contest in my book.
