I'm updating my previous review to 5 stars. I absolutely love coming to Bijou. I recently started getting no chip as well as getting regular manis and pedis. They all do a great job! Grace (and everyone) is so welcoming! Plus they added Glee to the rotation on their giant tv which is so fun to watch while you're there. Excellent neighborhood nail salon. Lots of great color options for regular and gel manicures. Their pedicure thrones are awesome. Very clean place with friendly people. Appointments are not required but I recommend making one when possible. Fun perk - while you're drying, they seat you at a dry bar in front of a big tv that's usually playing episodes of The Office or Friends. read more

Hello new nail salon in my neighborhood! I like: * They were completely empty (at least for now) when my normal mani salon, Salon Excursion, was too busy to squeeze me in * They let me bring my dog, although they may not next time after all the commotion Summer caused (sorry!) * The woman who did my nails (the owner of Bijou) seems to know her stuff when it comes to fills * It's very clean so I don't need to worry about some fungus showing up on my nails the next week * Big flat screen TV so I could entertain myself by watching Meet the Parents Part 2. I don't like: * The woman who did my nails (yep, same owner) kept stopping to answer the phone and help out her employees. As much as I wish I did, I don't have all day to get my nails done! *$41 for fills (not including tip)- way more than I usually pay * It would have been an extra $5 if i had opted for a French manicure * No massage? Clearly I've been spoiled by my massages at Salon Excursion. I'll probably stick with Salon Excursion so my nails don't bankrupt me, but nice to know there is another option in the neighborhood... read more

So I found this space on pretty quick. I had a $10 credit so the $28 pedicure was only $18...better than my normal spot & closer because I was in a rush. Also pretty quick gives you 25% off your first booking so it was even cheaper. It's a super clean space. All of the equipment looks new. For the pedicure, they do everything. Clean up nails, scrub the bottoms with a pumice, exfoliate with a scrub, lotion, massage, hot towel and paint. I thought it was pretty darn good for $18. Would I pay $28...probably not but that's because I am super cheap when it comes to nails. I admit it. Also, she gave me a mini shoulder massage after. They have a large selection of colors. I don't know if they have the newest, latest, and greatest because I usually stick to the same shades. What I loved was that it was a fast pedicure...now some people view this as crap. Me, not so much. I have shit to do. Get me in and out. They have the newest smut magazines, which I love to catch up on while getting my nails done. read more

This is literally the best manicure I've ever had. I love nail art and was ecstatic when I found out that Rebecca could do the design I wanted. She is sweet, friendly, and amazing at nails. I could not be happier with the outcome. She is incredibly talented and was able to do marble nails which I've never been able to get anywhere else. She's also a perfectionist which I love so you won't walk out of there until your nails look perfect. I can't wait to come back and try something different. read more

Although the owners (Grace and her husband) are really nice people and the salon is well maintained, I could only give 2 stars at this time. Not sure if it's the quality of their polish or the technique they use but, my polish chips off in 2 days. For a mani/pedi that's $45 it should last a few days right? If they could change the quality and/or technique I would give more stars but just can't at this time. Last, the owners daughter should brighten up her attitude-she seems miserable! read more

I am still a fan, but I must admit, I will only be venturing here Monday-Wednesday for the $35 mani-pedi special. I was in desperate need of a pedicure and unfortunately, it was a Thursday. I thought, it wouldn't be too bad for just one service. I plopped myself right down in the chair and never bothered to ask how much the pedicure would be. The technician did a great job and really took her time. Once again, I was the only client in the salon during my visit. When the service was finished I gave her my card and she told me it was $38(before tip). I know that's not an outrageous price, but considering that I could have come the day before and received a manicure on top of the pedicure for less money - it was a bit of a bummer. Love these guys. I used to work next door and would sometimes pop in during lunch or after work. mani-pedi special is great, everything is clean. My only qualm is their waxing. I only did it once, and when I went I was scolded by the lady because I asked her just to clean up my eyebrows, no arches or anything, and she snapped back that if I waxed more often, it would be easier. No one asked you, lady--and unless you want to do it for free, I'm not going to spend $12 a week otherwise. read more

I got my nails done last Friday (so it has been only 5 days) and my polish is already chipping off. It cost $100 for a mani and pedi and there was no massage and they did nothing to get off any calluses. I went with my friend and she had to ask for the the callus remover. She got only a pedicure and it was $85 just because she asked for the callus remover and a massage (not knowing it cost more) and because they had to remove nail polish! (Which they also didn't warn her of)! This should all be done without having to ask!! Especially when we were the only two in there!! Then the girl left in the middle of my pedicure without saying anything and switched with a guy who was extremely rough! When my friend tried to bring up to the owners that it was unfair for her to pay $85 for just a pedicure they gave very poor customer service and basically acted like they didn't understand what she was saying. It's sad because the place is beautiful, but the customer service is AWFUL! And their pricing makes no sense. $10 to remove nail polish!?! Never going back. read more

Bijou Nails is super modern, though sadly they didn't have many of the new color collections to choose from. They do take their time cleaning up your nail beds and offer some nice hand and foot massages but I wish that my feet would have been a littie smoother after all that pumicing. Since it is super close to my work I may go back M-W when you can get a mani/pedi for $35 but $46 seemed a bit much to me! read more

This is my go-to nail spot, mostly because it's just down the street from my apartment. They give a great, what-you'd-expect manicure. It has a nice airy and relaxing atmosphere, and is always very clean. The massage pedicure chairs are pretty spectacular, and now they DO give you a shoulder rub while your nails dry. I think it's a tad on the expensive side, which is why I took away one star. The Monday through Wednesday deal of $35 for a mani/pedi is great, but on all other days, it's more than I'd like to spend. (Granted I was spoiled with $25 mani/pedi in NYC for several years!) SUGGESTION: Offer chair massages!!! This is a service sorely lacking at nail salons in Chicago. And you try to turn down a 10 minute chair massage for $10 while your nails are drying...just try. :) read more

Just fine! I just had my first experience at this nail salon. Went in for the Mon-Wed $35 mani-pedi special. It was great! The technician was polite, took her time, even gave a massage. I gave a nice extra tip. No complaints! Everyone was friendly and there was even street parking available. read more

Where to begin? I booked an appointment using the Whittl app for the first time, pretty easy. But I wanted to get it done on my (30-minute) lunch break, so I called ahead to ask if that was possible. They said it was. Alright then! I arrive a little early and they take me right away. I'm in and out of there in about 35 minutes total, not bad! The kicker... this is the FIRST TIME in all my years of getting no-chip manicures that a no-chip has actually stayed perfectly intact for a whole week. It looks exactly like it did the day I got it. Maybe I'm just being extra careful, maybe they're just extra good, maybe both. Will definitely return. read more

I have been going here on and off for years. I am surprised by some negative reviews, because I have always had a positive experience. Usually, Grace does my nails and she does a great job. I got this silk wrap treatment once, but my nails still broke quickly. I think I was just rough with my hands. The atmosphere is very nice and everything is very clean. Cleanliness in a nail salon is key for me. They always have a good movie playing, which is nice when soaking your feet or letting your nails dry. They offer discounted mani-pedis from Mon-Wednesday and their prices are competitive. read more

I gave this place a few chances and my visit this week was the last straw. The salon was open until 7:30 PM- I popped my head in with my dog asking if they could take one more mani /pedi at 6:40 PM. I just had to walk a few doors down and bring my dog home and said I'd be 10 minutes. The woman inside looked incredibly irritated and responded "10 minutes- how about asap". I am going out of town next week so ran home and was back within 5 minutes at 6:45. A man starts on my feet and there is freezing water. There were still a few other people inside at this time. A woman then starts my no chip manicure FROM MY PEDICURE seat. She is rushing and doing a horrible job and ends up CUTTING MY FINGER with her cuticle cutters and blood is going all over my finger. She then grabs some sort of disinfectant and puts it on my finger. Why does this place say they're open until 7:30 if they clearly want to be out of there at 6:30? $65 for a no chip mani and regular pedi? $78 with tip? My nail chipped the NEXT DAY. photo attached. NEVER AGAIN. Let me start by saying that I hate writing bad reviews... I work in the service industry, so unless something is SO horrific, I usually just let things go..... Enter Bijou Nail & Spa.... I have been going here for about 5 months. I get "silks," which is basically a better version of gels and doesn't damage your nails as bad as acrylic. GRACE is the only person here who knows how to do silk nails, so this review is about her. All of the times I've been here, Grace always hurts me and I leave with 2-4 cuts on my skin surrounding the nail. It's always been a painful experience, but like I said, I always like to give people the benefit of doubt. Today was honestly more painful than when I got my root canal. She absolutely destroyed my nails and the skin surrounding the nail. I am in so much pain and am bleeding on 7 out of my 10 fingers. The WORST part about this is that Grace GIGGLES every time she cuts you or causes you pain.... IT'S NOT FUNNY! You are making me bleed! Ugh she is just horrible. There is glue stuck on my skin as well... and as if that's not bad enough, she did an even worse job painting my nails. It honestly looks like my 5 year old niece painted my nails.... only my 5 year old niece wouldn't have made me bleed everywhere. I have paint all over my skin- it looks so sloppy and unprofessional. When I expressed my unhappiness to one of the younger employees, hoping she would help rectify the situation, all she said was that Grace is the only person who does silk nails, and turned around and went back to her business. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE.... not. I paid $80 for Grace to torture my nails, make me bleed and a disgusting paint job... and now my fingers hurt to the touch.... typing this review is even painful.... that's how sensitive the tips of my fingers are right now because of Bijou Nail Salon. After my appointment , I called my boyfriend to tell him about this painful, hellish experience, and he told me I was overreacting and to come home and I would be fine.... Well, when I got home, he was SHOCKED at what he saw... he said my fingers looked raw and like someone had taken a knife to them... If you like your fingers and don't want to have scars and bleed everywhere, take your business somewhere else! It sucks that I have to find a new nail salon, especially because I live so close to Bijou, but I just can't take the pain anymore. read more

Let me say upfront - I have no Finger nails , well what I do have are cuticles and pitiful thin brittle shell like nails that break in a slight wind - so since its windy here all the time, duh no nails. So I went into this joint for a no chip manicure - which in the past has been a nice bridge between full on acrylics and a swipe of polish on the offending digits. $35 seemed high - but what the heck. I decided to also get a REGULAR pedicure. Look the place wasn't busy, so why did I feel like a dog at the dog groomers? By all means talk amongst your selves and agrue over something while I am sitting there - super. At the end of what almost became a painful mani- pedi, the manicurist bruskly said $80 dollar. I said what? I thought it was $35 plus $25 for the pedicure? I didn't get a no chip pedicure ( which was also $35 BTW which = $70 the last time I counted) $80 dollar the woman insisted. I said now wait a minute, for what? She GLARED at me and said very slowly EIGHTY DOLLAR. Cowed I paid ... BUT with lip quivering I did not TIP and unlike Arnold, I will NOT be back. read more

Great neighborhood nail place. Mani and pedi is just $35 on Mondays and Tuesdays I believe. My friend and I went after work and got great service -- we were there for an hour and a half. I like that although the place isn't overly fancy it has nice equipment and newer/sleeker look than a lot of places nearby. They also gave a little holiday gift of a decorative soap, which was nice. And there was lots of candy to indulge in and great magazines as well. I definitely will be back! read more

I decided to go to this place because it was close to my office and advertised a special. On the window, it said a mani/pedi on Monday through Wednesday was $39. I asked for a no chip mani and a regular pedi and was charged $65. I understand that there should be an up charge for no chip, but $26 extra is obnoxious. I would have dealt with this if my nails lasted. After 1 day, they started to chip. I am at day 6 and this is what they look like. My feet are not much better. I needed to pumice my heel the next day. I absolutely would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Very nice staff and clean, but I get shellac manicures every 2 or 3 weeks, but my normal lady is out of town so I decided to try this salon out. My no chip manicures don't chip until at least week 2 and the night I got mine done my nail chipped. I went back the next day and got them to fix it and the same nail chipped AGAIN that night. It's more expensive than my regular place and it lasted no more than 3 hrs both times!!! read more

The mani I got got was okay nothing fantastic. The problem is the lack of friendliness. I understand theres a language barrier but a smile is universal. So the convenience is great, right down the street from my apartment.. the quality is terrible my gel's don't last more than 5 days before they start breaking, cracking, or peeling.. and every time I go, even when I have an appointment, I have to wait for 15 minutes before even beginning my official appointment-- plus twice now the nail technician has gotten up up every 10 minutes to squeeze in an eye brow wax for people, leaving me sitting and waiting for another 10 minutes, my 45 minute appointments turned into a 2 hour appointments --- i'm never going back. read more
