We hosted our wedding at Pinstripes in July 2017 and we cannot say enough positive things about the entire experience! My husband and I are somewhat non-traditional and we wanted to find a venue that matched our laid back, yet still classy vision. We knew we didn't want to have our wedding at the most traditional places like a banquet hall or country club. We wanted to find something more unique. At our first visit at Pinstripes, we knew that it was the place for us! Shortly after our visit, we contacted a Pinstripes event planner. Kati was extremely helpful throughout the entire planning process. Never having planned a wedding before, we had a ton of questions for her and she was always patient and thorough when responding to us and providing us guidance. She made sure to explain all of our options and gave us suggestions on things that had worked in the past. We appreciated the fact that she made the decision-making process easy. The day of the wedding, the space looked absolutely beautiful. It was set up perfectly for our event. We had 80 guests, which we were worried may not fill in the space appropriately, but it was more than perfect. They spaced the tables so that the space felt full, yet spacious. The weather was beautiful (we got lucky!) so we were able to have the garage doors open so people could move freely between the indoor and outdoor areas. We loved that there was something for everyone - dancing, bocce, a fire pit, etc. We also hosted our after party in the bowling alley, which was a blast! It was the perfect way to end the evening and all of our guests, from young to old, had a wonderful time. A couple of things to note: 1) We were extremely lucky with the weather in July in that it was a high of 78 degrees and sunny with no humidity. The days leading up to the event and the days that followed were hot, humid, muggy, and stormy. I can't say the event would have been quite as amazing if the weather had not cooperated. I would imagine that it would be amazing in the fall, spring, or even winter as the doors can be closed. It was risky to plan an event in the summer given that the room does not have air conditioning. 2) The staff was extremely attentive and did an amazing job with the event, but there were a couple of moments when they were a bit more visible than we would have liked, such as talking loudly through the father of the bride speech, walking back and forth behind the maid of honor and best man as they did their speeches, and clinking glasses like crazy during our first dance. To be honest, I did not notice these things as they were happening, but some of our other guests were a bit annoyed. Other than these two things, I cannot recommend Pinstripes enough. Went here on a weekend for my first time going bowling in a couple years. Let me mention that I have been here before to eat lunch and the food was great, definitely not what you would expect from a bowling alley. Definitely more of an upscale bowling alley like 10 pin or Lucky Strike. However, given the location in the suburbs, I feel $18 for show rental and two games is a little steep. This would probably explain why the place was half empty on a weekend night. To add insult to injury, the televisions kept displaying that they had $1 games on some weeknights as well as food deals. I'll go back, but next time it will be on a weeknight for one of the food specials and the $1 games. read more

This wasn't my first visit at a Pinstripes, but it was my first visit to this location. We didn't bowl or take part in boccie ball during this visit, but we did eat lunch. You would never think that Pinstripes would have amazing food, but they do! I love their version of a caprese salad with burrata. I have been thinking about it ever since I ate it. So SO good! I haven't had anything here I didn't like. The service was a bit slow, especially since it was lunch time and we needed to get back to the office. So maybe not the best place to come during your lunch hour if you are in a hurry. But a good place to come for good food and fun! read more

I've been here a few times for work events and everything was fantastic . However, we just had a party here for my sisters birthday tonight. We had reservations and the front desk told us it would be a bit of a wait because some staff was cleaning our lane for bowling. I was waiting in the bowling area and a young man approached me and asked if I needed anything and how my night was going. I told him what was going on and he said his name was Joshua and he was manager this evening and to let him check on the lane for us. We were able to be seated immediately and said first round of drinks and appetizer was on him. WOW! Completely unexpected but we were treated like family tonight. We got to know Joshua well and he told us how he's from Texas. I love when an employee has a personal touch like this. Especially because I also work in customer service. The food was fantastic. Calamari was fresh and crispy and not too salty. The flatbread was also very good and toppings were fresh. I will always return to this pinstripes location. The food here was a really nice pleasant surprise as I was considering the food to be an after thought to a place that offers bowling and bacci. Both the short rib and pear salad were absolutely phenomenal, though. Corkage fee was only fifteen dollars which was also a huge plus as their outdoor seating area is hard to beat anywhere in the suburbs. My only complaint is they seemed short staffed the night we joined them. Our server was great and working very hard but just seemed like she had a hard time keeping up. Super late review, but I got married here last September and it was amazing. I dealt with Jen throughout the planning process and she was great and answered all of my questions. As for the actual wedding everything was as we discussed, the food was amazing (veggie lasagna, salmon, chicken parm) the outdoor setting was beautiful with access to the fire pit and we had s'mores. We had a bad experience last night. The service was horrible and our food was ill prepared, undercooked and came out of the kitchen at different times. My wife ordered a beer. The server brought a bottle of beer, but my wife asked for a glass. The server brought a glass and poured the bottle into the glass. The glass was hot to the touch, fresh from the dishwasher, spoiling her cold beer. That is inexcusable to bring a hot glass for beer. Who trained these people? A big party was causing chaos, but that is no excuse for such a large restaurant which should be able to handle such occasions. read more

This is a review for my son's birthday party. It was pretty abysmal and I can't recall ever having such a pathetic event for either of my children. I called Pinstripes about a month in advance and informed the individual answering the phone that I was interested in planning a birthday party for my son. I was put on hold and another employee then assisted me, taking all of the pertinent information, to include my son's name and age. I very specifically requested an hour of bocce with appetizers, a seated lunch where each child could be presented with a kid's menu to make their own choices, and dessert to be served simultaneously with the cake we brought in. I confirmed everything with Pinstripes a few days prior to the party and was assured that everything was set. On the day of the party, we arrived and everything went wrong. We waited in line for 20 minutes - holding balloons and a huge cake - just to check in. My son immediately noticed that his name was not on the event board and was pretty sad about it, as his friends wouldn't know where his party was... not to mention, kids just care about this stuff. After finally checking in, we were told we had to wait while the bocce courts were cleaned; there were random kids (not with us) playing on them - and food, drinks and trash littered the green. We finally cleaned it ourselves when we realized it wasn't going to get done. A full 30 minutes after the official start of the party, an event planner (Brian?) came over and tried to assist us, as we still had no bocce balls/instructions/server?!? At this point, the attendees were bored out of their minds and we were desperately trying to salvage our son's birthday happiness. Brian did his best to rectify things, but starting 30+ minutes late got things off to a terrible start and ruined our plans for a sit-down lunch where the kids could order off the menu. We had been promised a private room for lunch, which didn't happen; As a result, we had to wait for a table to open up in the main dining area. The kids had to pre-order at the bocce area and by the the time they sat down to eat, we had 15 minutes left until parents picked up. The other diners in the room were quite openly displeased at sharing the dining room with a table full of loud kids and continually shushed the kids - yes, even while they sang Happy Birthday. Lovely. Dessert was screwed up and we had to do a ton of work to get the cake served and the kids fed properly. I had super high hopes for Pinstripes, but other than Brian, no one seemed to give a damn. At all. I called Pinstripes to discuss the party issues with the manager and never got a return call. We are regulars at the bowling/bocce areas and at Pinstripes Sunday brunch, but we are officially done with this place. Not one kid had a good time, including my son. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. read more

AMAZING service! Me and my family came into celebrate not 1 but 3 birthdays on Tuesday evening, upon arriving my husband had asked to be seated on the patio and was told that our party of 10 cannot be seated outside and he was not happy(birthday boy) because we weren't able to get their happy hour menu. He wasn't too thrilled about that and was irritated from the start.. However the hostess and the manager were very sincere, apologetic and professional towards us. We ended up sitting at a nice table window and our server Q provided us with the best service we have ever gotten in a very long time, not only at this Pinstripes but in all restaurants period. He apologized as well for the patio situation even though it wasnt his fault and that was kind of him. The service was exceptional from start to end and he started by welcoming each one of us indivudually and personally rather than greeting the table as a whole, I've never experienced that before. My husband who wasnt too happy had completely forgotten about the whole happy hour denial. The server was funny, and made us all laugh and reminded us that we were a big happy family celebrating by eating together and then bowling together. The best part was the dessert! They have delicuous homemade desserts. I had gotten the strawberry shortcake sundae which was an excellent recommendation and a couple other items and when the desserts arrived the server had gotten us 3 chocolate frangelico cakes all with lit candles! All on the house and the management took care of my husbands bread pudding as well! Tuesday night is going to he one of the most memorable times we've ever had as a family and will never be forgotten. From the service to bowling and taking group selfies on their cameras! Wow, this is not my Dad's bowling alley! Dale the Owner must be gifted, he created this cross between a Denver Ski lodge and charmy place to be and have a fun experience. The food is a perfect balance of clever creations and even the burger is to die for. Out back they have a patio with a fire pit - great, except all the outside seats are hard wood and really hard and painful on the lower back. Let me preface this review by stating that we have always had very positive experiences with Pinstripes, but after a recent run in with the owner of this establishment, Dale Schwartz, and I am assuming his wife at our daughter's first birthday party, we will never return, and will never recommend our family, friends, nor colleagues return to this establishment. Over the weekend, we had our daughter's first birthday party at Pinstripes. We had approximately 60 guests in attendance for four hours. The staff, as always, was extremely friendly, and the guests had a great time. The day was expensive, and after the guests left, my immediate family, including my daughter, niece and nephew, retreated to the bar area, where there was lounge seating, and talked to the staff, and visited with our remaining family. The only other customers in immediate view (this is a large facility) were bowlers in another room, and diners, again in another room...but no other customers were in our room, except for a man and a woman at the other end of the bar (who turned out to be Mr Dale Schwartz and I assume his wife). Our daughter received one final gift from her grandmother which turned out to be a beach ball, at which point she, my niece and nephew (4 and 5 years of age) laughed, and batted the beach ball to each other. My mother and I began to notice very dirty looks coming by way of the woman, and finally Mr. Schwartz made his was to us and told us that the kids were to stop playing with the ball. We asked who the gentleman was, and he said he was the owner, and we were disturbing others in the facility (I am assuming he meant his wife, since there were no others in our area, and the staff was having a great time with us). What made the interaction so completely negative was the rude tone of the interaction with the owner, the eye rolling of his wife, and the nature by which it was brought about. After the amount of money we spent on this party, not once did Mr. Schwartz ask during the party if everything was going well, if we needed anything, or do any of the traditions of a good owner/manager. When the kids were playing, I would have been the first to step up if the kids were bothering customers, or if they were going to at all harm or damage anything. They were not. As an owner, if a customer is a bother to you or your wife, I am sorry...hold it in, and walk away...especially if those customers just finished having an event at your establishment and spent a lot of money. It left an extremely sour taste in my mouth on how this owner ran this establishment, and as great as the staff was, I refuse to give this owner any more money. If you are planning on having a kid's event here, think twice to doing this...it will be pricey, and it is not as kid friendly as it's appearance may lead on!!! A very happy experience ruined by one extremely rude owner, Mr. Dale Schwartz and his wife. read more

My family has been regular customers at Pinstripes in Northbrook since it opened. The kids enjoy it because it's dinner with games, and we like it because it offers adult food choices (although a bit less olive oil on everything would help me keep my grip on the bowling ball and feel better after enjoying an otherwise very good veggie flatbread). We go once every 4-6 weeks, but our most recent experience was not a good one. I should mention upfront that the General Manager who made it so unpleasant has since apologized profusely for his poor reaction to the situation and provided some nice gift cards to entice us to give him and Pinstripes another chance. The unpleasant experience involved the GM's resistance to accept a WeDeal coupon that we bought online for Pinstripes, where you pay $25 for a $50 coupon good on all food, drink and games. Unfortunately, the situation turned really ugly when the GM resisted giving me my Visa receipt for the evening, which I wanted to prove to WeDeal that our coupon was not honored. He instead called the police to have me removed from the premises, although I had done nothing but demand my Visa receipt and said I wouldn't leave until I received it (he was apparently a little too determined to prove me wrong about when I'd leave). In the end, the police came, got me my receipt and I left with my 9-year old son somewhat terrified by what had happened. A few days later, the GM gained a better understanding of his overreaction (possibly in part from my initial review of the situation on Yelp -- thanks, Yelp) and called me to apologize. I'm still more than a bit concerned about what happened that evening, but we've all had bad nights, so I'll give him another chance. The one-star rating for this situation alone will remain on Yelp to serve as a reminder to Pinstripes about how customers should not be served, but we'll assume that all will return to our normally positive experience with the place on our next visit. Finally, it's only fair to mention that without this experience, I would have given Pinstripes a more positive review of 4 stars as long as the experience described above was truly an anomaly. read more

This review is based on my experience with the special events department. I was looking for a venue to host a 40th birthday party. The event planner was fine on the phone, and I told her I would stop in to see the party space around a specific time. When I arrived, I told the front desk person I was there to see this specific person. The front desk person told me to wait on the couch and the event planner would be with me shortly. Ok, so here's where it went downhill. This event planner comes over to the couch. I stand up as she's approaching me. We make eye contact---she just looks at me, doesn't say anything, just looks at me. Very awkward silence. So I guess instead of being greeted by the special events planner with just a "hello, how can I help you?", all I get is a silent look. It was very rude. I'm sorry, is it my responsibility to greet YOU and to make you feel comfortable? So I tell her that I talked to her on the phone and that I would stop by to see the venue. "Oh, yes," she says. "Let me go back and get my notes." When she returns, we go out to the patio to see the space. I start asking questions, and get pretty short, matter-of-fact responses. And answers that begin with, "As I SAID before..." At this point, I'm pretty disgusted with her affect and the way she's talking to me. FAST FORWARD to a week later.. My cell phone rings. It's her. She wants to know if I want to officially book the party. Me: "Um, we decided to go with another venue." Her: "Can I ask why?" Me: "The other venue fits our needs better." Her: "Is there a specific reason why it fits your needs better?" Me: "We just felt it was better for what we wanted." Her: "Can you give me a specific reason so I can note it in our books?" Me thinking---seriously? Me: "Ok, well, I thought you were very rude when I met with you, so that sealed the deal for me and made me go with the other venue." Her: a bit of silence and then, "Ok, thank you." If you want to earn people's business, a little warmth and courtesy go a long way. Having an air about yourself, moodiness, pretentiousness, and lack of common courtesy make your company look bad. Period. read more

I'm torn about Pinstripes. The service was horrible, really horrible. The food, bowling, and venue were all very nice. I would give the service 1 star, and everything else 5 stars. The bowling lanes and their attached lounges are full of large stools and comfy leather couches. The bar and restaurant are good sized and also well appointed. There was a small group of us, a few adults, a few kids, a few adults acting like kids. They had trouble finding our reservation for a couple lanes, upon finding it we paid and collected our shoes, we asked what lanes we were in and the woman looked at us like we were idiots and said "I'll walk you over there" with a fair amount of annoyance in her voice. She walked us to a table that had 3 13 year old-ish boys sitting at it eating some burgers, dropped a menu and a tent card and walked away. Um, are we sharing with these gentlemen? Their mothers were sitting at the couches that also belonged to the lanes we were supposed to be using. So, two of us went back to the desk to ask what the deal was and we were told "They'll probably be leaving in a few minutes" I highly doubt it, they just got their food. So, the young men and their mothers moved (all on their own, none of the staff helped them). We started to bowl and we ordered some food. The calamari and the hummus plate were really good. The rest of it was good, but nothing amazing. It would have been nice to know that Tuesdays are $2 burgers while you bowl. It wasn't until after we ordered and got our food (about $90 worth of food) that we were told about the specials. Instead of $70 worth of sandwiches and pizza we would've gotten 7 $2 burgers (that's $14, in case you don't have a calculator handy). After about 20 minutes with empty plates sitting on our crowded table I moved our plates to a bussing station-looking-thing since it was apparent no one else was going to do it. About half way through our second game (we paid for two games on each lane) the lane shut down. So, back to the front desk again to ask "what up?!". There was some lame excuse that didn't make much sense to any of us, but we were back up and running again. No apology, just an "I-don't-know-what-happened-so-and-so-must've-but-I'll-fix-it" I don't really care how it happened or who did it, accidents happen, a simple "I'm sorry about that, I'll get it back up right now" would be great. The best part of the stellar service was on our way out. I see a 10ish year old boy standing by the front door crying, pretty loud, about 10 feet from the front desk. I went to the front desk and said "does that boy need help?" Now, I'll take full responsibility for this part being my fault. Instead of asking her a question, I should've known better by this point and instead said "Go help that boy". Her response to me was (I swear I'm not making this up) "I don't know" with a look like I had just asked her to explain nuclear fusion to me. You've got to be kidding me!! Go help him!!! I looked at the other woman at the desk and she said "I'll go find out". So, to recap - There was some awesome bowling (I had the lowest score of the night), very good food, and a whole lotta idiots running around pretending to work. Where do I begin..? I planned a family dinner followed by a fun night of drinking and bowling. I called a couple hours prior for reservations and they were able to accommodate our large group on a short notice... A Star for that... and ONLY that! Aside from that our experience at this establishment was pretty bad. Dinner experience: Table of 11 sits down and there is no bus boy nor waitress in sight filling glasses of water! Finally after 20 minutes our waitress brings some glasses of water however, that was upon request! Only the few that asked got water! I mean REALLY? Isn't that normal routine when dining in a restaurant?! Serve a glass of water as soon as the patron sits?! One would only think! We finally begin to order and they seemed to have run out of so many alcoholic beverages. I listed at least 3 beers on the menu until finally I had to just settle for what they did NOT run out of. We get our food in a timely manner however, a couple of our guest did not get the extra side they ordered along with their meal. We then asked for ketchup to go with the french fries, and guess what?! They RAN OUT of ketchup!!! We are just about wrapping up dinner and the extra sides are finally brought out. Now time for bowling... but, where is our waitress? Where is the bill? In the meantime, a different employee from the front desk approached our table two times to ask us if we are still interested in bowling and lanes are ready. "Yes we are but we cant exactly leave our table without closing out the bill!" Does the staff NOT communicate? Very unprofessional! Guest are being haggled for the lack of an employees service!! We finally get our bill 30 minutes later and on our way to the lanes. We pay and begin to bowl... Half way through the game one of our lane just stops. OK.. no biggie this kind of malfunction happens. We hit the button so someone can come to our lane and fix the malfunction. NOTHA! So, I took a stroll to the front desk to notify them. Game resumes. Again, after the 8th frame the lanes stops again! Ok... Again, I go to the front desk to notify them of the malfunction and the girl tells me that we have two extra players and I owe them $6. We all paid separately for the shoes so I figured ok... maybe someone forgot or assumed it was paid for. No big deal... I asked the girl if she can resume the game and I will be right back with your "$6 dollars." Questioning the service here... I decided to take a look at who didn't have bowling shoes on, just to see if in fact it was our screw up. Turned out everyone in fact was wearing bowling shoes, meaning we did all pay otherwise how did we get a pair of shoes? I go back to the desk and gave the $6. I'm not going to make a big deal over $6 but I had to point it out and asked her to please count the shoes as they came back just to make my point. I actually really enjoyed my time here! I had the expectation that there would be no crowd because it was Sunday, but I was so wrong. To my luck, there was a large party going on and the bowling alley was packed. ( TIP: Make reservations ahead of timing for bowling). No worries, my guest and I sat at the bar and enjoyed some appetizers while we waited to bowl. As an appetizer, we ordered the hummus and artichoke dip. I was not that wild about it because I found it way too chunky. Aside from that, my entree was phenomenal. I ordered the chicken Marsala with risotto and was in complete heaven. The dish came together perfectly! My guest also enjoyed her spicy chicken sandwich! After our bellies were full, we were ready for bowling! Talk about a clean bowling alley! These days bowling allies are dirty and smell like sweaty gym socks. Only downside about bowling here is that it is $15 per person...that's a little much. Do not get me wrong, the bowling alley is very well maintained, but do not be surprised to see swarms of little kids. If I were to make a suggestion to this establishment, I would expand the bowling alley. We have had our holiday party here for the past 4 years and I woulnd't have it anywhere else. Their service is amazing and they always go above and beyond to make our party great. This year we had Cody, Kevin and Ulena (sorry if I spelled name wrong) but they were attentative to each guest and were beyond pleasant and efficient. This year's holiday party was another great success due to Pinstripes and their staff. I also want to thank Helene for arranging everything with me beforehand so everything would go smoothly and it did...again. Our entire company is looking forward to another great party in 2017.
