I really hate writing this review - we love their food and my parents came to support them during the pandemic many many times. However, a recent experience prompted me to do it because it just showed me that we/they weren't really valued as past customers and potential customers for an event. My mother had suddenly and unexpectedly passed away recently. After pulling ourselves together, my family and I toured funeral homes and then went out to brunch at pinstripes, one of her and my fathers' favorite places to eat. We inquired about hosting the post-mass funeral luncheon here with one of the staff members, and we already kind of got the side eye due to the short time frame (she passed on a Friday and we basically had a week to plan - the event would be on the Friday to follow). I understand that we had a short window, but obviously, if we would have known, we would have planned, kind of the nature of a sudden funeral, etc. However, she loved this place so I figured I would go ahead. I contacted the event coordinator on a Sunday late morning, along with a couple of other area restaurants. We even called them on Monday and kept getting re-routed back to the original phone message - we got so frustrated that we just stopped trying. My dad and brother even DROVE back to see if anyone was available to talk to! We/they tried everything- I did not hear a peep back until TUESDAY evening. If my event is to be on a Friday, this gives me hardly any time to plan. In my inquiry, I said that I was under a time crunch and apologized, said that Pinstripes was one of mom's favorite places, etc. and the response back was cold and of course, very late. I am very pleased that another area restaurant responded within the hour with a nice, warm response and was very happy to assist me and our family during this difficult time (and we will be using them from now on for all future events). Came here with a large group for bowling. I haven't bowled in years and I feel like alleys are becoming less common to find. I had a great time here! The venue itself is very large and has a very California vibe to it. There's a seating area upstairs as well as a bar downstairs. We had breakfast and lunch here. The only thing I can recall being amazing was their yogurt parfait. Other foods were good but unremarkable, such as salads and sliders. Let me start by saying I have been a loyal customer to Pinstripes, and have been ordering from them during the pandemic to support the business. We order mainly two things: The Ribeye, and Flatbread. Typically, their carryout is just as good as when dining in...and I'd say it's worth the $31. HOWEVER, I'm inclined to post a trend that I'm noticing. Whenever they are busy with diners, the quality of their carry out food goes WAYY DOWN. I've refrained from posting proof in the past as I enjoy supporting this place but...they never fail to disappoint when it is busy. NO seasoning. NO flavor. NO sear on the steak, NO cook or care on the potatoes. We typically order a medium well, but it's clearly close to a medium - medium rare. It is not fair that we are still paying $30 and get this quality of food. At first, I think they've changed chefs. But, given that we order almost at least once per week....the trend is clear. Carry out orders will have no sense of quality when it is busy inside. If we were dining in and got this type of quality, it would definitely be complained about. But, I guess they cater more to those dining in than those that still support them by ordering carrying out. I booked us reservations for patio dining at 5pm and bowling at 6:15pm. The place was not crowded at all, we were seated immediately for both. Our server politely introduced himself while placing waters on the table. I ordered the lemon martini (love a good martini), and it taste like lemon meringue pie! My husband had no complaints about the whiskey sour I ordered him. For appetizers we ordered the mini burgers and calamari. The burgers were amazing! Slightly undercook, which I don't mind. For my entree, I ordered the salmon which I was informed was cooked medium-well, but presented overcooked. The cucumber avocado salad was really good though. I'm thinking I'm going to try to replicate it at home. My husband ordered the jambalaya and boy was he surprised. He said it was good, with a nice amount of spice, but just a different experience for him. I tried one of the shrimps, it had nice flavor, but not that spicy to me because I have a high tolerance for spice, I guess. Shortly after dinner we took on the bowling lane! Cool spot to hang out at. Everything looks new and modern. Plenty of bowling lanes that comes with table service! Oh and free socks with your shoe rental. That way you dont stink up their shoes with your used socks. I haven't bowled in a while so Im not sure how their prices are compared to others. I was a bit surprised when my bill for 3 people to bowl for 2 hours was $87. Wtf? So we opted to stick to just one hour of bowling and treated myself to a beer instead. Nice variety of food, although we just ordered a bunch of appetizers. Food was good, nothing to jump and scream about but it was good. There is this other game on the other side of the venue, cant remember what its called but they play with little bowling balls and its on turf. Looked fun but have no clue how to play. Pinstripes is a very nice facility known for bowling, bocce ball, and eating/drinking with friends. While aesthetically the facility is really nice, everything else wasn't very good. Our 2 bowling lane reservations were originally for 8:30pm, so we show up at 7:30pm to get some dinner first. In their bar/eatery area, we get seated at the hightops just beside the bar counter. Looking through the menu, their food and drinks sound good, but is clearly overpriced. Their specialty cocktail menu is all $12 each, food ranges from $12-30, we ordered some basic well drinks like a gin and tonic for $10 each, and a round of 3 house liquor shots came out to $38. Since this was a night out with friends/family, we didn't mind splurging a little, but what was disappointing was the food and drink quality. The beef tenderloin sliders were like overpriced white castle sliders, the prosciutto fig flatbread wasn't bad but wasn't worth paying $16, the special whiskey sour was overly sweet with no sour taste, the gintilly fizz tasted straight up like potpourri, and the salty dog had entirely too much rosemary. All while we had slow service throughout the whole dinner. One good thing though was if you checked in on Yelp, you received their gelato/sorbet dessert for free. It was a peanut butter gelato, grape jelly sorbet, and a slice of pound cake to imitate this tasty peanut butter jelly sandwich dessert. The waitress who served us was relatively slow. I understand she had other tables to care of also, but I would have liked the service to be a little better. My main problem though was when we asked for the check to be spilt. We asked her very kindly, yet she rudely said "no, if you want it split, do it yourself." While I understand that splitting bigger party checks can be hard, she could have at least nicely said sorry we can't split the check that many different ways. Her rude attitude and low food quality is mainly what drops Pinstripes to 3 stars. Once we actually started bowling after eating though, the night was fun. Pinstripes provides rental disposable socks if you forget to bring your own socks. The bowling lanes just have your standard house oil pattern, and they have all the needed bowling ball sizes/weights. One feature I liked was that you could set up the bumpers for kids, yet whenever it was an adults' turn to bowl, the bumpers automatically go up or down as needed. Overall Pinstripes is a nice place to bowl, but I don't recommend eating or drinking there. read more

Not exactly sure why but I've always passed on this place. Probably because it always looks like it is swamped. I was here once for a holiday work thing upstairs and it was nice. We met another couple for date night here and we had a lovely time. We started at the bar for a beverage and graduated to the dining room. I ordered the fish and I have to say, it was wonderful. The service was friendly, but seemed perhaps a little off or disruptive to the flow of conversation at the table, or maybe we were just that chatty. I made a point of trying dessert as well and was glad I did, they had an absolutely wonderful sorbet, as well as, a wonderful gelato. I am pretty sure we will take full advantage of this place in the future now that we have a better feel for it. We came to the Northbrook Pinstripes today 01/14/18 for my wife's friends birthday. It was a very nice event with about 80 people. The invitation was for the buffet from 11am - 2pm This was my first time to a Pinstripes. As many of you know there are a number of these in the Chicagoland area. They have a great facility for food, fun & games in a nice facility. I was impressed by the facility. When my wife and I arrived she went to look for her friend while I checked out the food table and planned my attack. After scoping out da food I went and greeted the host/birthday girl and her family and was trying to decide an appropriate wait time before I started attacking the buffet tables. I didn't want to appear like the starving animal that I was so I waited until I noticed a few other people had gone up to get their plates. The table I went for first was loaded with platters of lox & shrimp & decided this would be a great starting place. I served myself up a nice size portion of lox, cucumbers & thinly sliced red onions. I also grabbed a few shrimp, (but not too many because you have to peel them lol). I then wandered to a different table where the had fresh tomatoes w/baby mozzarella, basil & balsamic vinegar and grabbed a half dozen slices. Now I'm a lover of bacon which I also got a nice sized portion of crispy bacon & a couple of sausage links. As I was eating this plate I was thinking that I should have gotten a bagel and made a lox sandwich. That's was saved for the next trip. My wife came back with a nice slice of red roast beef that looked awesome, but I never went back for any (shame on me) The second plate I did get a mish mosh bagel & cream cheese and made myself a bagel sandwich w/cream cheese, lox, bacon, red onions & cucumber (oops I forgot the tomato). This sandwich looked incredible, but unfortunately the bagel wasn't very fresh so I ended up scraping the contents off and eating them separately. They also had a dessert table which had an assortment of different sweets. The one that I liked was a small square of cream cheese over a mashed up graham cracker crust with some type of sugar like a creme brûlée lightly on top. There was a chocolate fountain in the middle and many people were dipping strawberries in the chocolate. They also had white cubes? On a stick that people were dipping in the chocolate fountain and an assortment of other desserts none of which really appealed to me. I'm a little ashamed to say I only had 2 plates of food, I wanted to eat more, but I hate the feeling of being overstuffed and waddling out of the restaurant or worse yet being rolled out the doors. You know Philly Philly 2 x 4 couldn't fit out the bathroom door so he did it...enough said. They also served a birthday cake which I didn't eat either as I am trying to cut sweets out of my diet (so I can eat more real food lol) Overall a very nice event w/a pleasant venue, decent food and good people. read more

not a place for real bowlers. brought my own ball and it got damaged badly by their machine and they wouldn't help with even paying to get it surfaced which isn't that much. Worse the manager made me wait to see him, even though he was just standing in the corner doing nothing and said we have our own balls here so we're not at fault for the damage and had zero empathy about the situation which annoyed me the most. Maybe don't have machines that damage balls? I signed up for their winter unlimited bowling pass and was excited about it because the price was great, but not worth what you'll lose in damaging your arsenal. Don't bring your own gear and in general just stay away from this place if you're a bowler there was no oil on the lanes as well. A great concept: full restaurant and bar plus a bowling alley behind soundproofed glass wall and also bacce courts on the other side of the large building. Also a nice patio for dining. Ample parking, friendly staff. Food is surprisingly good, considering it seems kind of like a gimmicky venue. It's got a lot going for it. Keep in mind, though, it's not cheap. But you're paying for quality and a generally unusual combination of activities. I highly recommend dinner for four, followed by an hour of bacce, which requires little skill to play (I didn't say "win"), and it encourages group interaction. read more

We just went for New Year Day brunch today. I obviously didn't try everything that was available. The best things that I ate were the salmon and the prime rib. The shrimp were average. The fruit and dessert table was very disappointing in my opinion. Small fruit cups only and a very limited dessert bar mostly geared toward the kids. We enjoyed it very much and the other positives were the friendliness of the staff and the amount of staff on duty was impressive and it was well organized. I went to the hostess stand and told them I needed a table for 1. They asked if I had interest sitting in the bar, I did not. They then told me how busy it was inside and they didn't know if they could seat me And the service would be probably be bad but I could sit out I. The bar area and get the same food with better service. I ended up in the bar. I ordered the lobster bisque it was delicious. Then I got the chicken club like sandwich. It was plain and the Parmesan fries were just regular fries. The waitress was nice. I really like this Pinstripes! First, it's so conveniently located and accessible and has a huge parking lot. The establishment itself is so roomy that it can easily accommodate large groups from the office or a big family gathering. Ahem, this is also part of the reason why this is a 4 star review and not 5 stars. The last time I was here, sitting close to the bar and having a meal - a huge office group showed up, seemingly out of no where. All of the sudden, there they were - about 40 to 50 of them. And this is when the awesome environment became one in which it was hard to hear conversations and there was a lot of movement and distractions because of being in the whirlwind of 50 people drinking, talking, laughing, eating, and talking about Excel and spreadsheets, etc. This is all good for Pinstripes but if you are there with a small group or on a date, you might want to avoid coming on a Friday. But overall, it's a fun place, great craft beer selection, awesome food and what I enjoy most - Bocce ball! I had never been exposed to Bocce ball growing up but it's a great game for young and old, for those who've had a beer or two or none at all. It's like bowling, marbles, horseshoes and archery (all of which I enjoy) all rolled up into one - when taking into account trajectory and aim. My relatives rented out a banquet room upstairs at the Northbrook location for a Remembrance of life celebration for my cousin who passed away suddenly. They were really into bowling. The rental of the room came with three bowling lanes for a few hours as well. The place was empty on a Sunday and my daughters played bocce ball on the courts that were open. Of the six bocce ball courts, only one was being used and there was nobody waiting in that area. It was nice to see my kids finally have a smile on their face as they were having fun playing the game. After playing for about 15 minutes, a real ice cube/ manager of a woman came by and told my kids they can't play there because it doesn't come with the package that we ordered. She kicked them off the court, even though there wasn't anybody waiting to play. I understand now that we were supposed to pay extra for those courts, but I would think the company would have enough common sense to let some grieving kids play a couple extra games at no additional cost to them. She didn't even offer to let us stay if we pay a certain fee. She just told us to get off the courts. It happened yesterday, August 25 around 3:30 PM. You would hope somebody in that position would know how to read a room. Side note- when we first walked into pinstripes, she was behind the counter, but never acknowledged us even though we were wearing cubs jerseys like everybody who showed up to the remembrance was. (It was a theme for the party) We walked back-and-forth for a couple of minutes, trying to figure out where the party was, and she never even looked up from her phone to tell us we should go upstairs for the party. The least they could have done was print a sign on a piece of paper telling guests to go upstairs for the party. Just bad service all around. read more

The service was very good and they were very accommodating. The big problem is that they pre-authorized our debit for almost $385. So we paid a bill of $461, which was taken out in a couple days, but the pre-authorization of $385 is still sitting out there pending and out of our account. I've been to Pinstripes a couple of times and also have picked up with DoorDash. Both dining in and out, the service is horrible. At a work dinner, we had to beg for a second round of drinks, after waiting almost an hour. Our carrying order was missing 2 orders of fries as well as the au jous for the prime rib dip. This was first for me. I was invited to a wedding where both the wedding and reception were held at the location. This was absolutely a wonderful setting for both events and the staff did a great job of getting the h'dourves and drinks out to the wedding guest. The dinner selection was fantastic and the quality and quantity was more than I had expected and delicious. This place is like a hidden gem if you leave in Chicago because is in the suburbs ! They have different ballrooms for special occasions! I went for a dinner graduation and was great ! They gave appetizer like cheese balls and bruschetta! Main course was chicken with mozzarella on the top, pasta and salad! Love the Sunday brunch at Pinstripes! For under $30 (not including tax and tip) it is a pretty good deal. Does it have every brunch item? No. But what they do offer is tasty, hot, and replenished frequently. Omelet station is always where I start. The made-to-order egg creations are big enough to share. Sausages and bacon are spot on. Roast beef and ham carved for you. The staples like lox and bagels plus fruit parfait so never disappoint. Belgian waffle station is great! Different toppings like Nutella and bananas foster are delicious. Plus bowling and bocce for those who are interested. Have taken a ton of people her across a wide group of ages, everyone from my mid 80s grandmother to my single digit nieces and nephews, and they all have raved about it.
