I had such an awesome experience with my kids at Pinstripes. I took them to bowling for a work event and they had a great time. They told me that the was a waitress named Brittney. Was an absolute joy to them. She brought food for the kids and was always there. Brittney even carried the whole Jenga for our kids to play with. The event was a blast and even let us stay over time. When looking for local bowling alleys, I chose Pinstripes to celebrate my birthday AND because they were the only facility that would accept reservations for a group of 8 as pandemic restrictions were starting to lift. While the place is clean, it lacked the charm and the standard build of bowling lanes. What do I mean? Well, if you've gone bowling before, you know there are dots on the lane to help guide you on where to stand, walk up, and release the ball; the dots were too far apart. Sadly, this alley was built more for asthetic than actual bowling. Customer service was terrible! The hostess, when we arrived at our lane, came by to introduce herself and bring a round of water. We never saw her after that. We also encountered trouble with our lane and beaconed for help through their computerized system, but NO ONE came. Couldn't find the manager either. What's the point of asking for help through their system IF they're just going to ignore it? Never again would I step foot in this place I'd call a "glorified bowling alley." Most people pay for an experience, but why pay for an experience that only leaves you disappointed? So, if you feel the need to knock down a few pins, go anywhere but here. read more

I came here on a Thursday for lunch. We had hoped to bowl too, but all the lanes were sold out to or the entire week. Book ahead people! The downstairs seating is pretty plentiful. There is lots of room in the bar area too. Downstairs, in the back, there are two bocce ball courts. For lunch we ordered the stuffed mushrooms, chicken ranch flatbread, and BBQ chicken flatbread. The flatbreads can be ordered in pizza form too. In order of preference I liked the BBQ chicken flatbread, the chicken ranch faltbread, and the stuffed mushrooms. I really loved the bbq chicken one. We made a reservation for 2 people at 10:30 am. They may have around 50 tables or more that are unoccupied meaning empty tables but only 5 tables were occupied. They gave us a table that is not to our liking. There were so many empty tables good for 2 people and they move us up to 3 times before we finally settle down. Those tables were never occupied even after we finish our brunch. Our used plates were only clean one time and after that... the service stops. Normally, i only review 5 stars . I never leave reviews, but this was a terrible experience. I feel robbed. I made a reservation for 4 people for 7pm on Tuesday night. We showed up early at 6:45 and were asked to wait for 15 minutes while the party on our lane finished up. We waited patiently and didn't mind when the hostess came by at 7:05 saying they had 5 more minutes of bowling and would need to clean up before seating us. We were not taken to our lane until 7:30 (30 minutes past the reservation time). This would've been fine if we could still get our two hours that we paid for, but bowling closed at 9pm. Our lane also broke down twice. On our way out, we tried to talk to the manager. He was combative and rude - demanding me to give him a receipt that the hostess never game me. He eventually decided to give us a refund for an hour of bowling time we paid for and did not receive ($88 refund). Imagine my surprise when looking at my bank statement and instead of an $88 refund, I see an additional $88 charge!! On top of the original $176 of two hours of bowling plus our charge for food/drink. After arguing with the manager on Tuesday, I am reluctant to go back in to dispute this charge and get treated with the same rudeness and disrespect. read more

We asked if we can be sat and the general manager Mitchell said that there is no table and we need to wait 30 minutes. After 20 minutes the empty tables were still unoccupied and we were still waiting. We finally decided to leave after 25 minutes with the tables still empty. Our first visit here was for a party of 8 for a b-day for my husband - we did the Sunday Brunch Buffet in the Bistro. The selection of food for brunch is pretty good, considering the only other brunch buffets are in hotels around here. At $37 per person, you can choose from eggs, bacon, sausage, an omelette station, waffles, bagels, prime rib (carving station) and a selection of flat breads, pastas, etc. - not too bad. I didn't find any one item to be exceptional but everything was tasty and good enough. The bottomless options are mimosas or aperol spritz, each for $25/per person, 2 hours max. The mimosa (and aperol) comes premixed, which was something we hadn't seen before, but nevertheless, I guess it's all the same. The value perception is cheapened, in my opinion, when it's a premixed mimosa, but that could just be me... Seating in the bistro: some seats are definitely more favorable than others. The booth seating is definitely the most warm and inviting. At first, they were trying to seat our party of 8 (with baby) at a 6 person table in a corner like area and just add 2 chairs to the end. It was clearly tight. I did appreciate them giving us a better spot, and it does seem (of course) that they are maximizing the seating in that bistro area ...there is lost time to make up for. Our server was super friendly and stopped by to check on drinks as needed. Overall, it was a nice experience and great ambiance with the windows that open up to the outside dining area. Pinstripes is a solid option with a large party, good environment to hang out, have some drinks and enjoy a buffet brunch on a Sunday. I like the addition of Pinstripes at Hillsdale Mall. It is a little hard to get a bowling reservation last minute on a weekend date but definitely a fun time if you can. I love how you can order food and drinks right to your lane as well. That helps really utilize your bowling time instead of wasting it having to go to the bar. All the appetizers and food we ordered was pretty good too. I did come here for a catered event though in the banquet room for a work party and the food served for that wasn't the best. It was served family style but everything came out at different times with delays in between each so you couldn't put together a full plate at once. The steak served wasn't cooked well either and was disappointing. All good enough to eat but definitely nothing special for a catered event. read more

Went to Pinstripes for a bowling night with work colleagues. Unfortunately our dinner elsewhere ran late so our group were late to our group reservation and some guests did not show up. The staff was very understanding and accommodating. They allowed us to still bowl and even allowed us to stay past open hours to make up for the time we were late. The facility is modern and I enjoy the natural light throughout the bowling area. We did not order food but ordered drinks with minimal wait time. I went to Hillsdale Mall today, to visit Refuge. Refuge was closed, due to 'emergency repairs'. So I wandered around the new North side of the mall to see what other food I could find. I stumbled into 'Pinstripes', an event place (bowling and bocce, food and drinks). I bellied up to the bar, and ordered a french dip. The quality of the food was above average, but the quantity was disappointing. I would call this sandwich a 'large slider'. I had a nice IPA, and the service was enjoyable. For a french dip with cheese, $21 was fine, but again, it was tiny! read more

Bowling was fun, new lanes, new balls, comfortable shoes included in price of admission. Front server made a comment to a trainee about me not tipping on them charging me for admission. Ordered two drinks and calamari off happy hour menu. One of the drinks was charged to me at full price, the other two items at happy hour prices. I did not notice until I had paid and left. Calamari was bland, no spices in the batter and under salted, the only sauce provided was a mediocre marinara sauce. Italian margarita had a strong pour, bowling staff were attentive and quick. Went here just for fun and to do something before our dinner. We have visitors from the Philippines, who is my niece and her son so we've been going and taking them out. It's our first time here. Originally, our plan was to go to Lucky Strike in San Francisco but unfortunately they're closed Mondays to Wednesdays. So we end up at Pinstripes but it was actually a better idea. Closer to where we live, parking is much easier, plus on top of that, it's located by the Hillsdale mall where you can stroll either before or after you've gone bowling. I love this place since it's a huge venue. From the entrance, as soon as you walk in, you will be exposed to the reception area with a nice, huge bar on the right hand side and the dining area on your left side of the building. There was a singer playing guitar and singing before you head onto the stairs. The bowling alley is on the second floor. There is a huge room, to hold place for private events on the left hand side. Then there's the bocce play area, tables and chairs allover even in the patio for drinking and eating as well, and a huge bar on the other side of the building. The bowling alley is towards at the end and only have 12 lanes. Lucky Strike in SF has better lanes though, I must say. They even have lanes for private groups with music playing and that's what I loved about it. Not sure if they play music during night time here because when we came it was around 5:30 and we stayed until 7ish. We ordered calamari, truffle fries and their chicken wings plus a few drinks. Food, service, place, cleanliness and decor are all great for me so We'll come back here for sure. read more

I am gluten intolerant. This place was fantastic !! They need to open one of these places in Southern CA specifically Orange County! Just loved the food and the ambiance . Such a great find on Yelp while stranded due to the Christmas blizzard & trying to work my way home after numerous changes, delays and cancellations. I had the gluten free chicken Parmesan over gluten free pasta and it was wonderful. My son had the rib eye steak with Brussel sprouts and whipped polenta. He really enjoyed it also. You won't regret your choice of going here. In addition , it's in the Hillsdale Mall so you can walk it off after dinner. A fabulous ending to the drama and a really sweet find! read more

Do not book an event at the San Mateo Hillsdale Mall Pinstripes! Their contract continues to change, extra charges were placed on my account without being notified. They day of service tried to over charge me on things I already paid for in my contract. On the day of, the server swiped my dads card three times, without even telling him. Luckily, my father checked his account before we left and noticed the extra charges on his account and approached the waiter serving our event. They are definitely scamming people out of their money.
