However, the last two times that we have been there in the past two months my Green Grilled Cheese and soup have been cold both times. The first time I didn't say anything but this time I did and they kindly warmed it up. I really like the Green Gilled cheese because it's very unique but I prefer my food warm. We have been going to this place for a few years every December before our Polar Express ride. They are very family friendly and the food is delicious. Fried green tomatoes- amazing! Jalapeño French fries with ranch ---love!!!! I had the pulled pork sandwich and the serving size is very generous, could be split between 2 adults. We stumbled upon this rustic pub while visiting the bakery across the street. Would very much like to come at night and have a couple of pints on the porch. My wife and I started with an order of pretzels and beer cheese. This is one of the better pretzels and the beer cheese was good. could taste a slight hint of beer but not over powering. We also shared a bbq bacon cheese burger. I am not a fan of acidic coleslaw so this was a down thumb for me. The fries were alright. Now to the main attraction, the burger. It was seasoned really well. If you don't like worchestershire then you might not like it. We both thought it was very good. I get tired of getting a "gourmet" burger that the meat isn't seasoned. I was told that this place had bar food, but not just "bar food", it was GREAT bar food! The first hint we had that the Pint and Barrel Drafthouse might be pretty good was when we pulled into the parking lot and took the last parking space at about 5pm. Three other vehicles pulled in behind us, but quickly chose parking on the street and headed for the door. As we walked toward the door we saw lots of people eating and drinking on the outside porch, but with it still being a bit warm outside in mid-July, we opted to head inside. Lucky for us four chairs at the bar became available as we walked in and Ariel, one of the more than capable bartenders, greeted us with a smile and invited us to sit wherever we wanted. Due to the shortage of help Ariel said we could just come up to the bar and order when we were ready and everything would be brought to our table. The menu was written all over the wall behind the bar so we decided to sit there. My wife ordered the Cuban (smoked pulled pork and smoked ham with melted Swiss cheese, pickles and spicy mustard on sourdough bread) with fries and I ordered the Buffalo Chicken & Bacon sandwich (crispy chicken with buffalo sauce, bacon, lettuce, tomato and onion with ranch dressing on the side) and fries. While we were waiting for our food I ordered a Trappistes Rochefort 10 and ooohhh that beer was good! It started with caramel followed by a bit of fruit and finished with that pleasing coffee taste. Nice sipping dark beer. The food arrived sooner than expected and the first thing we had to try were the awesome-looking beer battered fries. They were perfectly crunchy on the outside, soft, warm and delicious on the inside. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Cuban sandwich and said the sourdough bread and melted cheese really enhanced the already delicious pulled pork and smoked ham. My Buffalo Chicken & Bacon sandwich was incredibly delicious with every bite causing me to want another...kinda like the beer! About halfway through my sandwich I saw the coleslaw and decided to try some (not a huge coleslaw fan) and I was pleasantly surprised...in fact, that may have been the best coleslaw I've every had. I could have easily eaten another serving. We came for some bar food and got much more! We want to thank Ariel for our great service with a smile and Scotty Mick for the OUTSTANDING food! A unique environment, the music selection is great, and it has a great ambiance to it. The way you order is more rare than usual; you order at the bar. The service is very good, fast, and polite. The food itself is also unique, specifically the fries. The fries have like a thick half curl to them and it makes them unique but in a good way. Got a mushroom Swiss burger with fries and coleslaw, the green grilled cheese (which is jalapeños spinach artichoke grilled cheese on sourdough, served with a cup of tomato basil soup and 2 fried green tomatoes). The burger is good, rich in taste and cooked very well. The coleslaw is chopped small which makes it more flavorful. The sandwich is very flavorful, the tomato soup is very good, and the green tomatoes are crispy and lightly breaded to perfection. Another thing we ordered was BBQ Bacon fries with Pulled Pork, and the bacon was cooked perfectly, and the pulled pork has a nice taste to it. read more

I wouldn't order the fish (but yes to the chips) again as they were reminiscent of cafeteria food (thin on fish. Thick on breading). We both had the house blonde and really liked it. Driving back to Austin from Henderson, we searched Yelp for a place for late lunch/early dinner. From the reviews, this place seemed right up our alley. It did not disappoint. The owner was tending bar and was super friendly and knowledgable. The food was fantastic. We had the bleu cheese fondue fries. Holy moly. I love the location of this place and the ambience in general. Quiet corner of town. Food is bar/grill fare but well done and reasonably priced. Plenty of beer on tap for those that enjoy variety. I love the patio in lawn seating but this is where the place loses stars. It's all smoking section and u cannot enjoy your food breathing in all the second hand smoke. It's been that way each of the three times we visited. The only other minor draw back is u have to order food at the bar and there is no clear direction of where to do it or how. read more

I give 4 stars to the restaurant and pub and the 5th star is for Dawn or bartender, who had a very cheery disposition, greeted us and took the time to write down our names and use them when she talked to us. She is really good at her job so Kudos Dawn! We had a couple of beers and the fried okra and fried mushrooms, both were good but the fried okra stood out above the mushrooms. They were lightly coated so you tasted okra in each bite and not over seasoned/salted. We thought they were the best fried okra we've had in a very long time. Wish we were hungrier so we could have tried the menu, it looked good and had some nice classic pub choices. They also have stuff on blackboards that isn't on the menu, again, wish we were hungrier. Nice bar sitting area, good presentation of the available taps and info above each tap (alcohol content, pour size, price). I am a huge fan of pubs and beer. Palestine TX is a town I have done business in for years. So when i noticed a drafthouse had opened i raced over. They have about 15 beers or so....and its a solid collection. The food was solid. I had a Reuben sandwich. I don't always hang out in Palestine, but when I do, I will always hang out at Pint and Barrel Drafthouse from here on out! I was in town last week while in town for business purposes. I live in Austin, and I know NO ONE in Palestine, TX. I saw that this eatery was highly reviewed on Yelp, so I decided to check it out. Immediately I could see that this was THE PLACE to be in town. Lots of friendly faces were laughing, talking, and enjoying pints, vino, and some delicious looking grub. I opted to sit at the bar which was great because I got to listen in to all of the witty banter from the charismatic staff and town-folk. The bartender made great recommendations. I thoroughly enjoyed my mammoth pulled pork sandwich and Pinot Noir. I could see there was a fantastic selection of beer as well. I'm not the biggest fan of hanging out alone in a town where I'm a stranger, but somehow I felt right at home at Pint and Barrel Drafthouse. Great location. Great menu. Great beer and wine selection. I had lunch here on 09/22/16. First this is NOT a 5 star restaurant. Maybe, just maybe, a 2. Probably 1 star. I'm rating it 2, because it wasn't all bad. But clearly, it wasn't all good. You should know: NO WAIT SERVICE. Lots of flies - may have a water leak somewhere which draws the flies; your choice - picnic tables or bar stools. Very few actual tables and chairs. How do Yelpers get to five stars? Unbelievable. Food: I ordered fish and chips thinking that it would be fresh. It was their daily blackboard special. Nothing but frozen crap. Not good! My friend ordered Gumbo. It was ok, but nothing special. I was disappointed. Recommendation: Management needs to get busy and do a better job. There are lots of better places to eat. read more
