Key lime served on the finest of paper plates, Apple pie is frozen
    Emma T.

I was really excited to go here for National Pie Day (3/14) expecting the place to go all out to celebrate. Unfortunately the place was quite barren, not only with celebration but also with people. With only a few tables filled, we expected fast, reliable service. Without a doubt we received the opposite. We sat at our table for nearly 20 minutes before we were able to have our order taken, and then waited over 45 minutes to check out after the food was delivered. We ordered the veggie pot pie and the Mac/cheese pie. The veggie was actually delicious with fresh salad, however the Mac/cheese pie was just Mac and cheese in a smaller container, burnt and dry. We had to go up to the counter to order sweet pies, which came out frozen. I was disappointed with the poor service, lack of flavor and frozen apple pie. At first glance this place seems to have all the ingredients, though sadly they've come together to create a flat, mediocre, and in this case, frozen experience.

Food is bad, tastes like a Swanson's Tv Dinner lol not a lot to choose from in food (see pic) and certainly not a lot to choose from in drinks or sodas. Service lacks. We were specific with our orders, 2 beef pot pies and 1 chicken pot pie. So the gal royally screwed up our orders, she either ignored our orders or did what she wanted lol she instead brings out a beef and chicken pot pies and a shepherds pie lol NOT WHAT WE ORDERED!! So not going back ever!! Beware

COVID review: I came here with my dog and was able to sit in their back outside patio, which is very large. The beer they had on tap were all from Northwest Brewing, which is definitely decent beer. For food, I ordered their turkey mushroom pot pie and enjoyed the creamy mushroom sauce in the pie. My fiancé ordered their mac&cheese pot pie. His dish wasn't really a pot pie, as it was basically mac&cheese with a puff pastry placed on top. Nonetheless, both of us enjoyed our meals here. I do like that they serve a variety of sweet and savory pies. The workers here were also very friendly and reviewing cleaning protocols with staff when we arrived, so that made me feel safe.

Soooo...the name had me fooled...I thought it was a pizza joint with brews!!? Regardless, We stayed and dug into the pot pie love...who doesn't love a good pot pie?!?!? Unfortunately neither my or my boyfriends pot pie were enough to bring us back (chicken and veggie) BUT you know what was enough to have us return....the BEER and the PATIO!! I am not even a beer person but the one I had was delish, similar to a hef and the atmosphere was so relaxing Def worth a visit!!

    Bad food!

No idea how this place has good reviews. We had the worst experience. They literally use a $240 Avantco food warmer to cook their frozen food. The service is terrible, the food was awful. We took one bite, and just left the food and our drinks sitting on the bar. This place should be embarrassed to "act like a business"

There's not much to say about this place. The best thing they offer are their adult beverages and the TVs for sports watching. Their pies are not good at all. The meat was quite dry and lacked any flavor or seasoning outright. The pie crust was the only good thing about the pie and that alone was not enough to make me want to finish eating it. Glad we finally got to check this place out but it did not meet my expectations. I should also note that my partner ordered the chicken pie but she received the beef pie. They then tried to convince her it was chicken... it definitely was not.

I'd give the beer 5 stars but the food could use a little work. I liked the space a lot, it's huge with some outdoor seating as well. I had the mango hef and the blood orange. Both were excellent, I had been to the original Northwest taproom so I knew I liked both of those! For dinner I had the chicken pot pie. It looked delicious but the flavor was lacking, almost like someone forgot to season it and the chicken was tough. It was one of the first weeks open, I'll probably be back again to give it another shot.

Beef Pie and a Very Drinkable IPA
    Warren C.

Ten taps, nine beers brewed in-house and an outside brewed cider. The cider as of this posting is a spiced apple that's like drinking a pie. I thought it was fine in a tasting glass to sip on, but it would have been a bit much in a pint. (your mileage may very) I had a very drinkable IPA and sampled a couple of other taps. They have a Black Lager that's very smooth. The pie in question was very tasty. Beef, vegetables, potatoes, and sauce in a puff pastry crust. There's a nice selection of sweet pies as well, but I didn't sample them this trip. I strongly recommend.

    Myth dark lager awesome!!

Heard about this place a bit ago and I am happy I was able to finally visit. Overall its a pretty cool spot. The beer is solid, the food is pretty solid, and the staff is super friendly. I definitely need to make a trip back when I can sit inside or during better weather. i brought a blanket and was freezing and by no means to I blame them. I hope that this thing is done soon or the sun brings the heat soon!!

We hosted my sister in law's baby shower here. Yolanda was so excellent to work with. From the beginning she helped us organize the menu and catered to the guests really well. The food and drinks came out in a timely manner. We ordered pretzels, beer, pizza, pot pies and sweet pies. They were all tasty. Highly recommend the key lime pie, pretzel and the Hazy IPA.

I'm a big fan of breweries, especially those with several drinks on draught or tap, and if they're really good, I'll buy them in a bottle. However, I read their review and noticed that they had vegan and vegetarian options, so I thought, "You know what? That's a combination I can't resist. Beers with a delicious sandwich!" A few days later, I made plans to visit on Saturday, which happened to be one of the two days this year that it snowed in the Pirec. It was quite amusing with the parking and the snow that stuck everywhere. As soon as I walked in, the bar was buzzing with energy. It had a great vibe. I didn't think I'd get any seats, but I managed to snag one at the bar with a very friendly person. I spent all but about 3 to 4 hours there. The sandwich I ordered was called the Rainier, and it was mentioned in the review, but the name wasn't revealed. It consists of a field roast loaf, Chao vegan cheese, herbed vegan mayonnaise, tomato, red onion, and arugula on sourdough bread. I'm not a big fan of mayonnaise, even if it's vegan, so I swapped it out with some pesto-style creamy cheese, and it turned out even better than I expected. The sandwich was a perfect five out of five. I would definitely order it every time I come. It came with a side of chips, which was a great addition. The sandwich was massive, so I could only eat half of it. I took the other half home for the next day. For my beers, I'm a big stout-and-porter guy, so I went with the Fort George's. They had two options: the Salted Caramel Cavatica & Matryoshka Vanilla. Both were exceptionally flavorful and probably my favorite porters I've had in all of Washington and many other states. Unfortunately, they ran out of the Salted Caramel Cavatica, so I ended up drinking the Matryoshka Vanilla for the rest of the night and didn't mind at all. Overall, I had a fantastic time at this place. I'm definitely going to make it a regular stop in my monthly rotations around Tacoma. Highly recommend stopping by this place. It's definitely a five. Service is amazing, and the drinks are worth the trip. They have an array of options, which is what I love about this place. Until next time!

Recently stopped in here for a date night with the wife…read more We've been looking for a decent replacement ever since Tacoma lost the Rhein Haus. Since my wife is of German heritage, brats and kraut are a thing in our life. The menu here looked really good, so we stopped in our 29th anniversary. I will say, there is a parking lot across the street. For those who've been in the area for a while and remember past times, it used to be a used car lot Luckily I found an empty spot on the street right out front, so I grabbed it. But yeah, parking in this area can be tricky. Just be aware that there is the lot across the street on Puyallup Avenue, the entrance is from "Court A", which looks like an alley but is technically a road. Tacoma is fun like that. So let's talk food. We ordered the Brätzel, because my wife loves a good soft pretzel with some beer cheese. This one states that it's a beer cheese soup, and it was a bit thinner than a typical beer cheese. But it had a really good flavor. It was not gritty at all like some beer cheese can be (I'm looking at you Hops&Drops). I'm not a huge pretzel fan, but I will say that I tried a portion of it and enjoyed this one. The pretzel had a good flavor and the beer cheese soup was great. We also split the Landjäger / Käse Platte. Let's get one thing clear, this thing is bigger than it looks on the menu. There's a lot here. I'm really not sure exactly which of the four cheese were which. If you go by the description on the Käse Platte then it should be Bavaria Bleu Crème, Raclette, Emmentaler and Butterkäse. The Bleu Crème is easy to spot. The rest look similar really. But each had a unique flavor and all tasted absolutely wonderful. The cured beef and pork sausages were good, but the cheese stole the show here. We also shared the Berliner Platte for a main. Again, I can not stress this enough, there is A LOT of food here. the two of us had no chance of eating all this. This plate comes with the following sausages; Berliner Bratwurst, Smoked Cheese, Spicy Cheese, Chicken Andouille & Bockwurst as well as being served with sauerkraut and you get to pick two sides. We chose the Spätzle and Pommes (fries). All of this was amazing. The spicy sausage and the andouille were too spicy for my wife, but we knew that going in. If you have a group and are wanting to sample the many wursts here, I would highly recommend this plate. Now, let's talk service. I don't remember our server's name, but she was so great. Very friendly, very tentative, very good at her job. This was exactly the kind of service I look for when I go out to a restaurant. I don't want some tablet where I'm interacting with a faceless machine, I don't want a kiosk, I want a real person who engages with us and helps make our experience the best it can be, and this place gets it. The staff here is on point, they are good, they take good care of you and the experience made s want to come back. This place is for sure at the top of our list for German food here in Tacoma. If you have not been, you need to stop by. It's not big, it's not fancy, you'll drive right by it if you aren't paying attention. But this place is by far the perfect replacement for our missing sausage haus. We are so glad we stopped in.

The interior of this place is huge and bright! They have plenty of seating inside and it looks like they do outdoor seating which is dog friendly. We were told that they will have days where they have musicians playing German music and that it attracts quite a large crowd. Our waitress Sara was hilarious, personable and did a great job of taking care of us. She really made the visit all the more memorable and fun! We did order a lot: Berliner Platter with chips and spatzle, Berliner Sliders with fries and a bratzel. We did not realize just how huge the portions were for everything, like the platter was going to be big but we weren't expecting the amount of food for other order. Everything tasted absolutely amazing though! We really enjoyed everything and they do not mess around with flavors cause you taste exactly what they advertised. The house made chips were also fantastic and probably some of the best I've ever had. My boyfriend and I are excited to return and definitely will be sharing this spot to others as we thought we had to drive to Leavenworth for good German food but it is closer to home than we thought!

We never disliked the beer but it was also not one of our most favorite breweries in Tacoma. But we have learned that it looks like new ownership has taken over at this brewery. The name remains the same. The merchandise is mostly the same in concept but with a few tweeks. Probably what we noticed most was the beer recipes changed as did some of the beer options. We felt like it was an improvement actually. We have been here twice now since the changes and it definitely generates more motivation to go over there. We have had a few very tasty lighter beers since on the first visit. On the second we had a great Black IPA called Nightmare 21. Black IPA'S aren't super common so we get them when we can. Another fun dark beer was Haunted Windchimes was what it was called. The name itself sold me on wanting it but it didn't disappoint either. So looking forward to more frequent returns to North 47!
