Pint is a few steps from the Grove Street PATH station and I'm happy to have stopped in for a quick drink the other night as I have now found another great spot in JC. Pint was a little loud and raucous when I was there but I mean that in a good way - it was Saturday evening, everyone was friendly and having fun. They have a good selection of cocktails and frozen shots and a stellar selection of craft beers on tap and in bottles including some unusual brews that I had not heard of before. The bar staff are friendly, prices are reasonable and although it's a pretty small place there is plenty of seating. There are quite a few tv screens, all playing different things, which I did find a little distracting but other than that Pint was most enjoyable! read more

I feel in love with this place as soon as I walked in. It is such a great atmosphere, warm welcoming crowd. I went the weekend before Halloween in my costume. Although this place is super tiny and gets very packed, my two friends and I were able to snag a little spot in the back. Super cute nook for two, and pulled up a stool. The drink selection is huge, so much to choose from. Plenty of craft beers here if you are into that like I am. I had the pomegranate sangria as well as one of my friends. My other friend however had this amazing cocktail called Strawberry Fields that came in a medium sangria looking pitcher...it was pink and had floating rubber duckies on it!!! OMG how cute is that?! The music was on point as well, just wished this place was bigger because it seems like it gets packed often especially during the weekends. My friend and I were in the area and wanted to grab a drink or two before heading to Hoboken so we stopped in here. As soon as we walked in everyone looked at us. 99% of the people there were men besides me! The place is tiny. It didn't seem small at first because it wasn't that crowded but within minutes the place filled up quick. The bartender was very friendly. When I moved into the neighborhood, I was delighted to find out how many places offer a great selection of beer. Pint was on the short list to try out. The wife and I would walk by and look in, sussing out what kind of place it was. There are enough places in JC populated with douchebags that we didn't want to get stuck in one. Every time we walked by, we'd see a bunch of guys sitting around, drinking beer. Nobody slovenly, no one trying real hard to impress. OK, we'll try it out. And we met up with some friends on a Wednesday night and rolled up to Pint. We took over one of the small tables and hoarded a few trivia consoles. Once we sat down, we discovered why it wasn't full of college douches. The screen was playing lots of Lady Gaga and Whitney Houston. The bartenders--all--were good-looking men with tight tank tops and had their hair care products together. There is a fishbowl cocktail called the Barbie Dream House. An older gentleman at the bar turned around, looked at me, looked at my wife, looked at my friend, and then looked at his wife, and looked disappointed, then turned around. Pint is a gay bar! Score! Strictly speaking, it's a gay-friendly establishment, and the only one I know of in the hood. It's really just a place to enjoy a couple of drinks and not have to brush elbows with too many meatheads. I like it. We're going back. Oh, as a footnote, near the end of the night I was trying to rearrange things on our tiny table and knocked a glass to the floor, smashing it. Someone at the bar clapped and yelled, "WOO! Oh Jersey City, as the Virgina Slim folks say, you've come a long way baby. I moved to JC after 9/11 and helped my brother Sawyer open his first restaurant Basic Food & Beverage. JC was still coming out of it's Soprano's image, Hamilton Park was a mess and old buildings were, well, old and abandoned. Now. Wow. What a difference. My brother and his company have developed several condos (Hamilton Square, Schroeder Lofts), restaurants have sprouted up like an amped up Chia pet and the waterfront is riddled with modern skyscrapers. But more importantly. THERE'S A GAY BAR IN TOWN! Yep. So just for that Star Bar I'm giving you three stars. Yep. Just for that. I'm easy. Like that Staples button. When asked to describe me, many use the word "straight". Not like straight shooter with upper management written all over him. Straight like Cinemax softcore, ribeye steaks and drunken arm wrestling. But I'm not too straight to beat my chest, grab the guy next to me and say that I love Pint. The beer selection is outstanding, some might even say overwhelming (put the prices on the board, DAMMIT). There are some places that just get it! Pint is the kind of place I wish I had next door to my house. It's a small, neighborhood bar with smashing good service, incredible beer and friendly people. A friend of mine dragged me here when I wasn't really in a mood to go out. I wanted just to stay home in front of the television and pretend the world didn't exist. He persisted and I gave in. What a wonderful surprise. The outside of this unassuming bar doesn't really tell you what is inside - a warm, comfortable space with seating for a few dozen people. A big chalkboard along one side has a handwritten list of beers - lots in both draft and bottled form and little menu cards descretely placed around the room list some pretty nice house cocktails. Unlike most bars which seem to subsist on a diet of sports and CNN, the televisons at Pint offer Buzztime trivia - a nationwide trivia game that's free, plus classic movies and music videos on certain nights. All the above is great, but what really makes this bar is the staff and the clients. The bartenders are always friendly and make me laugh. Mikey is clever and makes great cocktails. Tommy is funny and charming. Karol is pretty damn witty. And the customers all seem to know this and have a good time. It's true the majority of the clientele is gay - but I see lots of straight folks here too. I suspect they come for the beer and the trivia. Even so, the interaction between gays and straights is pretty cool - I've lost track of the number of straight couples I see laughing with the gay guys. Kinda gives you hope for the future. Ok, have to remember this is Jersey... And this is possibly the only gay bar I have ever been to in Jersey (except for Cage which is now closed) I used to come here to get my collection of rubber duckies that swim gracefully on top of my fish bowls... Somehow I always managed to get a good spot at the bar or a table (even as it is always crowded) never managed to get hit on here... Haha not sure I wanted to either... Haha (not talking bad about crowd, I'm just shy that way) The bartenders are very friendly.. And no surprise gents... They are mostly straight... So no freebies for you if you try flirting... Always funny to see their reactions when guys try hitting on them... Part of the job... No eats, they do serve popcorn for the bar if you like and I like their trivia games... Stopped in for an NJ Beer Co. bottle party. Adding NJ beers to the already delicious list of brews offered there was a goooood move on their part. However, it was realized after arriving that this place is mainly for men. No problem for me, my beautiful fiance had my back (no pun intended). Came here while visiting a Jersey native in his new apartment. He had brought us here because it was a low-key chill kind of gay bar. I wish we had these in NYC! The clientele wasn't creepy and the bartenders weren't bunnies - it was real people who just wanted to sit and have a drink with their buds, and if there was someone you fancied, you went and talked to them. What a breath of fresh air this place is! Having frequented the gay bars all over Manhattan it is great to come across a place like this. Beer is cheep and they have a decent selection, bartenders are sweet and easy to talk to. Best of all, the crowd is really relaxed. I have been here both late nights and after work, and have never failed to find a crowd. Additionally, there is quite a bit of mixed entertainment (not just those drag shows!). Pint easily has one of the largest and most varied beer selections in this part of New Jersey. Their taps rotate often, so there is always something new to try. They are pretty active on Facebook and post updates if they are going to get something particularly interesting. I got to try a beer from Maine Beer Company that is pretty rare and sells out quickly whenever it shows up in a store or bar! The liquor selection is also great. The fishbowl-sized cocktails are apparently really popular, but I can't personally vouch for them. I have tried their seasonal cocktails which are always awesome. The bar is relatively small and is generally packed on Friday and Saturday nights. I try to go during off-peak hours to ensure that I can snag a seat. Pint doesn't have a food menu, but they do have free popcorn as a bar snack. I'm often one of very few ladies in Pint, but I don't mind one bit. The beer is great, the crowd is friendly, and you can play trivia from your table. Pint really adds a lot to Jersey City, so I'm so glad to make them my 100th review! read more

One of my favorite bars!!! The drinks are delicious, not too expensive, and they always have great specials. Honestly, House Mix Drinks are expensive it's horrific! Boxers in the city have better Logical Prices and other Local Bars/Restaurants have Logical Prices. (yeahyeah... plain-ol' Bud Light.) ...check it: **TWO-FUCKIN' BUCKS!!** Where on earth can you get ice-cold $2 bottles of beer? YAY! I'm a fan! (I think they're $2 till 10, but I'll definitely be back to confirm the times and prices...and to check their selection. You know, "investigative reporting".) There was a decent little crowd...maybe 15-20 people. ...late 20's to 30's. Mostly guys and a couple of girls. The place was cool n dark... felt "homey". There were a few TV's... I noticed some of those were running those video trivia games... then a couple of guys started playin' Wii on the other side of the bar. Came here after brunch on a Sunday for their $3 craft beers, $2 well drinks, and $1 shots (some shots are $2). This is definitely an awesome way to spend Sundays, drinking beer and watching football. My friend and I were here for several hours and the bartender was awesome. His beer recommendations were on point, he made great mixed drinks, and made sure we always had refills when our free popcorn was nearing emptiness. They have Rockbot, so if you get the app, you can play music from your phone through the app. It worked really well (the songs I picked played instantly even though I didn't choose the play next option) and I wish more bars had it. I didn't have a lot of beer, but their selection looks good and so do the regular prices. I think the bartender said they had about 30-40 bottles; I forgot the exact number. They also have trivia on Wednesdays (I think) and some other specials throughout the week. This place might be five star worthy, but I want to come back again and check it out first. You really can't beat their deals here on Sunday nights. 3-2-1 = $3 bottled craft beer, $2 wells and $1 shots. That's pretty incredible, and so is their beer selection. So many amazing beers were on list the evening we came, and you really can not beat it at $3 each. We had some Gin and Tonics too, which were made well, and I tried a lemon drop shot, which you can tell was made with pretty low-quality booze, but hey it's a friggin dollar! I had heard it used to be a gay bar, and it seems it still is. I have no problem with that, but the Sunday we came in we were definitely the only straight couple the entire night. They have Trivia which you can play on these little hand-held electronic devices, super fun! We were only playing against one person the whole night that would only answer every other question, so I assume it's much more fun when people actually play. The crowd was really diverse. Some young guys (may I add also some reallyyy obnoxious drunk guys that were yelling and making scenes), older men, some people sitting alone, and then a group of a few girls. The bartender was really, really friendly and quite attractive! I can see why he brings in all the fellas'. I don't know how to start, except to say that this place is a must for anyone who loves beer. Or anyone who loves going to a bar. I live in Manhattan, but I will definitely come back. It is a mere block away from the Grove Street stop on the PATH. Now, down to business. The bar has tons of bottled craft beers from all over. The time I was there, the bartender was Michael, who is also the assistant manager. He really knows his beers. After I explained what I liked, he was able to make a bunch of recommendations, and not a one them was a miss. Pint regularly rotates their stock, so their beers are always fresh. Apparently, this requires them to have a "fire sale" on some brews to make sure they sell them. So, my goal is find out when their next fire sale is so I can partake in some inexpensive craft beers. The prices are extremely reasonable and you get free popcorn. There is trivia, for those you smarter than I -- I stunk at it. And they were playing fun music videos -- but not so loud you couldn't hold a conversation. The physical space is also great. It is a little small, but brilliantly laid out. There are cute booths with taps on them. Then there are tables and the L-shaped bar has lots of stools around it. The front of the establishment is all windows, so it feels really open. On top of all that, the place is very clean, which makes the experience all the more pleasant. All told, Pint is a treasure that measures up to all the kudos it has received. read more

It's been a couple of weeks since I've made my way out to somewhere new, so after receiving a text from Yelper Stephanie L. inviting me out for afternoon drinks in Jersey City (a place I am not at all familiar with, mind you) I jumped at the chance. And, boy, am I ever glad that I did... We were met by another fellow Yelper, Louis R., who walked us over to Pint- by the name one would easily gather this to be a place for beer afficionados, but not being big on brew myself I was more than happy to see a "$5 Martini Monday" sign out front. Pint's cozy interiors certainly adds to its charm, as does the accommodating personality of the bartender and the atmosphere's lack of pretentiousness; and you have to love a bar that serves buttered popcorn straight out of a machine sitting beside the bottles of a well-stocked bar. This place isn't big, but I'm one who prefers smaller and more intimate locations to large clubs and crowded spaces, so this was definitely right up my alley. And even if I'm not beer's biggest fan I have to admit that I was thoroughly impressed by their selection. An extensive list of local and other craft beers is written up on cabinet doors right above the bar while a printed selection of martinis sat on the bar showcasing their Monday promo. Steph wasted no time jumping in on a beer flight (a couple of her tasting descriptions: "Pink Trident bubblegum" and "Watermelon Pucker". Can't say I've ever had Pink Trident gum before, but you judge for yourselves...) while Louis and I hit the martinis ($5 for a PINT!!!); and as the saying goes, between the fun and rounds of adult beverages, time definitely flew. I heard about other promos that I'm definitely going to be coming back to check out (Sunday 3-2-1 Nights, for example), but overall there's definitely no reason for me not to come back on even a regular evening. I know us three Yelpers were the loudest ones there that time, though admittedly it was an early Monday night; and besides us there were a handful of solo bar-goers drinking silently by themselves. It was also later brought to my knowledge that Pint is a gay bar, but truth be told I never even noticed until I was told (and that was on the way home)- maybe that's why the bartender was such an absolute sweetheart, but regardless, nothing about it being that kind of bar made it uncomfortable for any of us. If anything it simply added to the charm! A great way to spend a Monday night with friends, old and new; and definitely a place to introduce other people to. Me? Pint is one of the best craft beer bars in Hudson county and even the New York City area. My first rave about Pint is their customer service. Wolf, the owner is truly a man of beer and he and his staff will recommend some of the best beers to satisfy your craving. On a weekly basis, they update their beer menu to match the local breweries production and the client's taste. If beer isn't your poison of choice, Pint has a great mixologist that creates unique and delicious drinks such as banana split martini and pint of peaches drink in a pint glass that taste like real peaches. For the more thirsty drinkers, try a giant fishbowl which is sixty ounces of happiness. Remember to save the collectible rubber duckie which changes every month. Personally, I have seven and the number is only going up from there. For the froggle drinkers, never pay full prices for a drink again. You need to join the Pint Club.
